My wife and I randomly stop into places we've never been to for breakfast and we found ourselves near here so we did. I didn't realize at the time until she reminded me but we actually had a gift certificate from this restaurant hanging out in our refrigerator from like 5 years earlier. So after ordering our breakfast I asked the waitress if it was even a possibility to still use it and she said sure no problem. So anyway, our breakfast was wonderful, the waitress was really nice even if she hadn't given me permission to use an old gift certificate, and the place looked pretty clean. I checked when I got back to the house and it had actually been 8 years for that gift certificate but we went back for lunch and caught the same waitress, and yeah no problem they let us use it Lunch was just as good as breakfast was. They do have a secret sauce there I asked what was in it because I saw it on the menu expecting her to tell me what it was and she said that she wasn't allowed to so it really is a secret. I did get to try some however and it's rather tasty in fact I suggest it to her that perhaps the owners could put it in bottles and sell it maybe just there at the restaurant anyway. I mean I would have bought a little bottle. But yeah, we both had a chicken sandwich and some sweet potato fries, and everything was rather tasty. Great find. Not the fanciest part of town by far? but convenient off and on I-86/Rt. 17 thru Binghamton. Burgers were delicious! Very friendly service. The manager(?) even came out to alert us to a low front tire that he had noticed on our parked car! read more

The Reveille is far better than their competition across the street. They stick to the knitting even with almost limitless improvisations of hamburger platters and all-day breakfasts. Examples: One of the very best hamburger platters I had was here. The dear friend I'm with remarked about their terrific beef supplies. 'The Reveille' premier egg breakfast platter with three meats, potatoes, toast of your choice, and coffee was one of the most carefully prepared and freshest imaginable. The coffee is incredible; soft drinks are refilled. The chalkboard selections in the front are in addition to the actual menu. Our usual server Liz is so friendly, concerned, quick and efficient. She's always truly responsive beyond any comparison, for each customer observed, not just us. The atmosphere is clean, air conditioning just right. Crowd is decent and know real value. No hassles not any pretentious nor peculiar affectations here. Uniformed services staff get a worthwhile discount to make the Reveille a habit for all the right reasons. The wife and I went here for the first time today for lunch. The decor is nice, old pictures of Johnson City I really enjoyed. They had a reuben lunch special so of course I got that. I can never pass up a reuben. It was my first time having it with pastrami though and I must say it was really good. I got the macaroni salad on the side and that was really good. My wife got the bacon cheeseburger and that was delicious. Cooked nicely, nice and juicy. The fries were great as well. The service was good, very friendly and attentive. As a bonus someone had left some time on the meter (thanks whoever you are) so we parked for free. I realized after we left I should have paid it forward and put some money in for the next person but whatevs. Maybe next time. My best friend and I end up here for breakfast at least once a week. The food is tasty, filling, and inexpensive. I love that biscuits and gravy are a regular menu option; the sausage gravy here is absolutely delicious. The coffee is good, too. Amber is often our waitress, and she's come to know our habits: hot sauce with the hash browns, decaf for my second coffee, etc. I really appreciate service like that. Oh, sweet sentiment: I'm slightly disappointed in the lack of reviews, but not too surprised given that this is a small "home-town" sort of diner that mainly greets regulars and consistent, friendly staff. Having just returned from San Francisco, after two years of fresh, amazing, delicious food and continually pleasing eateries/dining choices (but disgusting, over-priced diner options), I can blushingly admit that I was craving inexpensive, diner style food more than anything else in the Binghamton area (but, really, what else is there besides chain restaurants and a few select pricey options). I have been going to the Reveille for years now, mostly with family and always for breakfast. Their lunch menu could use some work (seriously, don't go here for lunch compared to other local joints), but breakfast is a no fail and you can't beat the price. Now, I am mainly a brunch convert and have to admit my overall heartache in lack of brunch offerings in Broome County, but The Reveille is affordable, greasy, quick goodness and always topping off my coffee cup is insta-bonus points. Overall: If you are looking for a quick, yummy, diner-style breakfast without breaking the bank ( while supporting LOCAL business with courteous staff) than this is a great place to stop in at. read more

This is a little coffee shop style place. Its a bunch of middle age to old ladies running the place. The food is passable. its more of a fun experience though. They have good natural lighting, from what I remember. Also a coke is good. The diner across the street, the green owl, looks appealing, but Ive heard many bad things about it from the locals. We chose Reveille, and it was pleasant enough. This is a nice spot if you feel good about life, are walking down the streets of JC, and want to stop for a bite to eat with some nice ladies. read more

I went here for the first time recently with my family. The food was 1 star quality at best - I'm giving a second star because the place is clean and somewhat comfortable, the location is convenient, and the service and prices were decent. I had the corned beef hash meal, which was straight from a can and looked like it hadn't even touched a hot pan, and served with two eggs which were literally still raw, just slightly opaque at the bottom. Their home fries are mushy and bland, with an odd orange color. My husband had a burger and fries - the burger was cooked to death even though it was ordered medium, and the fries were unimpressive. The only thing we were served that I might eat again was my daughters french toast. Nothing great, but nothing wrong with it either. Their menu is limited and uninspired, and the items they do have are not worth the cost IMO. read more

One of the better diners in the triple cities. Good, yet simple, menu of breakfast and lunch options. The omelettes are good 3 egg style and the ingredients are always fresh. Never had a bad experience with a waitress here and I like the local historic JC photos on the wall. read more

this place is hit or miss for me. the first time i went i remember being a bit underwhelmed with my breakfast, but then i went again recently and had a pretty enjoyable breakfast. then i went for lunch and that was mediocre and kind of a let down. i don't remember what i didn't like about my breakfast the first time. the 2nd time i went though the pancakes were really good. they are a bit on the thicker side, so you may only want to order a short stack, especially if you plan on getting other stuff. the home fries i had last time were pretty good, they weren't very crisp but they seemed fresh and well seasoned and they were very tender. the bacon i had was good, the eggs were ok, and the biscuit i got was very good, but i could tell it wasn't homemade, i think it was one of those pilsbury frozen ones. as for my recent lunch, i got a fried chicken sandwich and a burger. they used felix roma keiser rolls, which i'm not a fan of, and on the burger they toasted the bun and it was almost too crisp. the mayo on the burger was good, as was the bacon, but the meat itself kinda tasted like propane. the fries i got with it were good though. i'd stay away from the chicken sandwich. it's not that it was bad, its just that you can get a better one for the same price at wendy's. the meat was pretty much a chicken tender, it was thin and not very filling, but the flavor was fine. i did order mac salad with that though and they forgot to give it to me, they just gave me chips, and i was kinda bummed about that, but at least the chips were Wavy Lays (i think), and not those BS Ruffles brand chips. the place is kinda on the smaller side, but it seems clean and it's a comfortable relaxed atmosphere with cool old pictures of our area from back in the day. the service has always been good aside from forgetting my mac salad. the prices here are pretty fair, but really my biggest complaint is that a few things are just frozen products. i know it's a small kitchen, but a few more scratch made items and a better dessert menu would amp the place up a bit. i'd say that when it comes to Main Street JC diners, you're fine going either here or to Red Robin for breakfast, but both of those places are a let down for lunch. the lunch menu is kinda limited here too, it's just sandwiches and wraps, they are missing a lot of the diner classics at Revielle. read more

My husband and I went here for breakfast Sunday and the food was very good. The eggs benedict was delicious with the fresh grilled ham on it. The home fries were fine and my husband's omelet was pretty good also. The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. Actually, the service was a little too fast and the food was just warm The only reason that I am not giving the Reveille Restaurant 4 stars is because when I was cashing out I saw the cooks using their hands touching all the ingredients that went into our food. We haven't been here in a while so thought we'd stop in. Service was Fair. Eggs were cool. We had to ask twice for a second cup of coffee. I had to go the kitchen and request a second cup. She never mentioned the "specials" so we ordered from the menu. Then when getting off the chair, I realize there was a Jelly smear on the seat and I wasn't aware of it when I sat down. My husband and I have come to eat breakfast or lunch here at least one a month. It is usually consistent with the food and service but was just in there and everything has gone downhill. I ordered a lunch special and they brought me out a breakfast dish. Since I had other afternoon plans, I told the waitress that I didn't have time to wait to for my lunch dish and would eat what I could from the breakfast they gave me. The food was cold so I only ate about half. The waitress brings us our check and charged us for my meal! When my husband asked her why we were charged when it wasn't what I ordered, the girl gave him attitude. So incredibly rude. After getting several other employees involved, they finally took it off our bill. Needless to say, we were came rather frequently but won't be back for awhile. Many changes in staff lately for the worse and quality of food has gone downhill. Very disappointing and will be telling all my friends about our experience today. read more
