Food looks good in the photo, however It truly was the most tasteless breakfast to ever be consumed. French toast was straight up just egg-bread; nothing yummy about that. Everything else was either undercooked or overcooked, and all unseasoned. Also, the plates had mostly the same items but they varied in taste/cook. My usual "Clinton St. Diner'' was unfortunately closed today. So, decided to blindly give this place a try. And wow.. Overpriced Pig Chow! The eggs & toast were, ok? The orange juice was good... Overall, not a good first impression. No clue how this place is even open. Maybe, desperately hungry customers? The black stuff on the plate is burnt remains from the skillet. The fact that this plate was even presented in front of me had me feeling as if I was some sort of stray mutt or pig. Ah...breakfast at Chris' Diner in downtown Binghamton, NY is always a winner. Seated immediately, beverages served, and order taken right away Our food arrived quickly, and as always, huge portions on the plates. Pancakes, sausage, home fries, and orange juice for me. Massive portions and fast service. Chris' Diner is exactly what you expect a diner to be. The menu is divided into three parts: all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings plus specials of the day on the white board. I usually find restaurant food salty, but I added salt on my chicken and biscuits. This is nice because I could control the level of saltiness. The portion sizes are so large I literally broke out laughing when the plates were put on the table. We took about half of the food home. Another bonus is we were in and out at lunchtime under an hour we put on the parking meter. The tables are pretty close to each other and it was fairly noisy. This is a cash only business so plan on bringing cash when you come. read more

Very good breakfast spot in Binghamton, NY as evidenced by how insanely busy it was!! This is your basic diner-kind-of-place that all the locals go which are always the best places for breakfast food! I was staying at a nearby hotel with 15 other women for a weekend get away and we came here on the last day right after we all checked out. We took up 4 tables (2 pushed together) and Maria was our server. Even with how slammed the restaurant was she took very good care of us and everything was tasty and came out in a very reasonable amount of time. This place has everything right down to the father and son team running the grill which we had the honor of sitting at the counter to watch. The service was awesome - the son does everything from memory. The waitress comes over to him with the order, tells it to him, and he starts to lay it out on the grill then relays it to his father. If you asked me to guess where COVID-19 started, I'd guess it was here. Truly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The first red flag started back in the parking lot, when I saw one of the cooks taking a cigarette break and "scratching" his nose. Immediately upon entry, I knew it was going to be bad. The decor was retro, but more retro in the fact it hasn't been cleaned in 50 years. The tables were cramped, the ceilings were low, the walls were dirty and yellow, and there was a thriving population of flies. While the food was cheap, believe me, my stomach payed for it later. The waffles and pancakes were dry, flavorless, and tasted like they came from an expired packet of Bisquick pancake mix. I didn't try the eggs and potatoes, but my party said they were just as bad. I really would've liked to support a small, family owned diner like Chris', but truthfully I don't know how this place is still in business. read more

I was nearby visiting your and in the mood for brunch or a good lunch, and the menu was very inclusive of all the classic diner foods - eggs, pancakes, sandwiches, chicken etc. I was leaning towards breakfast until until I saw all the variety of foods for after 11am. I love liver and they had liver and onions. Came with a huge pile of mashed potatoes, veggie of the day was sliced fresh steamed beets, and choice of bread, I got buttered Italian bread. Everything was delicious! Service was quick and food all correct, got bottomless hot tea with it. There were some parking lots behind the restaurant that were near a bus station and other stores, while the spaces next to the restaurant were reserved for Chris's with no charge for parking. Heard a lot of locals rave about this place. I decided to have their lunch special, which was grilled ham and cheese. It also came with creamy chicken rice soup. The soup was fantastic. Tasted homemade to me. The grilled ham and cheese was very good as well. The meal reminded me of a lunch mom would make me as a kid. Our server was great and had a nice smile the whole time I was there. Prices were good and not too steep. Only knock is this place is out of date big time. The inside is not very appealing. Okay so I have mentioned before in my reviews that a lot of people don't leave a review unless something bad happens in which case they get all mad and jump online and say I'm going to leave them a bad review. This is not going to happen here. It's rare I know, but I have nothing bad to say about Chris's diner. First off the food is excellent. Obviously it's not five star gourmet style or anything as the name suggests it's a diner, but it's very good and well worth the money. You go in this place for breakfast and spend about $10 sometimes including tip, and you won't need to eat again until dinner time. These guys set you up with a pretty good size breakfast for a very reasonable amount of money. I do have a lunch menu however I'm rarely there for lunch as bacon rocks. Most of my trips to this place happen in the earlier morning hours as there is a firestone location that I like right down the road and while I'm waiting for my car this is where I end up. Everybody there is super polite, even the other customers, and I have in fact found myself in conversations before with people I don't even know about random topics. It's just that kind of a place. No I know I said I wouldn't do this because I've got nothing bad to say about Chris's diner however I did just think of one small tiny itty bitty detail that might be considered bad depending on how you look at it. He only takes cash. Your debit card / credit card are mostly useless here as he does have an ATM machine on site that you can use to get the above mentioned cash. With that being said I don't believe not accepting credit cards has done anything to hurt this guy's business as the later morning hours I have sometimes found it is difficult to get a table without waiting for a little bit. I'm new in town and happened upon this place due to a quick google search of "breakfast near me". It was a Saturday, this place looked like a solid diner that serves breakfast all day, so I assumed this place would be busy. It was a packed house. I went down the street and grabbed a coffee and waited an hour. Came back and there was a seat at the bar right in front of the grill. It was the best seat in the house. The two guys on the grill, which was loaded with home fries, eggs, pancakes, sausage, ham, etc were insane to watch. They cooked food well and at a pace that would kill a Waffle House line cook. Not only that, one of them was eying my coffee and took a second between scrambling more eggs to ask if I wanted more. The banter between the older guy and younger guy on the grill was pretty great, too. Needless to say the food was phenomenal. I had a Greek omelette with bacon, and it's a big one. It also comes with a heaping side of home fries and a side of toast of your choice. For the price, I couldn't believe I was getting that much food. It tasted great. The service was great, with the two who were waiting on me made me feel like I was a regular. This is where you want to go for a meal, and I know I'll be back. 11/10 would recommend. My sister recommended I try Chris' before returning to Long Island. She graduated 20 years ago. It's nothing fancy but it certainly delivered on its food. I thoroughly enjoyed my omlette, which was cooked perfectly. I did ask how they cooked them and was it eggs folded over your choices (like IHop). My waitress assured me it was NOT, and she didn't lie. Asked for home fries well done. Yup, done. Great reviews led my mom and I to this cozy diner on Sunday when we were looking for lunch, and we were so impressed we brought my stepdad back for breakfast on Tuesday morning. On Sunday's they just do breakfast,but I'm always down for breakfast food, so that was fine by me. The portions are plentiful for sure, and the food is hot, fresh and oh-so-yummy!! I had the omelette the first time and the French toast the second time, and both were 10/10. While everything is amazing, the service is really what puts this place above the rest. Jasmine is a superstar. She helped us both times we were there and is just the sweetest soul you could meet. I decided to try this place because it was so hyped up but, as much as I hate to say it about any beloved local spot, I would say this is a very average diner experience. The interior is not well maintained with booths heavily cracked and old (not in the cool way) decor. The entrance is an awkward double door system that no one seems to get right, so if you're in the front room you'll get blasted by cold every time someone comes in the door. Just like basically every other diner in existence, the portions are large, prices low, and friendly staff. Plus, the taste wasn't exactly extraordinary. Therefore, I can't justify a higher review because that is the average experience at every diner I've ever been to. There's just nothing unique about this place that gives it that redeeming spark. There are other diners in the Binghamton area that are significantly better, but I suppose it's convenient if you're downtown. Unless you don't carry cash like most zillenials.
