I can't bring myself to give them a one star but I will continue to give two star reviews to Panera everywhere until corporate gets it through their thick skulls that no one and I mean NO ONE wants to order a toasted bagel with butter TO GO and then get in the car and find hard as a rock butter that they then somehow need to figure out how to get onto the dang bagel. Worse if you are in a hurry and driving somewhere. Forget getting butter on that bagel! The whole idea behind having take out is you TAKE IT OUT AND EAT IT! Some places, including this location, will, if you remember to ask, butter your bagel BEFORE packing it away but it is hit or miss. This seems to be a corporate directive and I've complained to corporate who seems to not care one bit. Every blasted Panera I go to does the same thing with the only variance seeming to be the hard as a rock butter vs maybe a bit softer butter. I mean even if you wanted to butter than bagel you really can't because the butter is solid and impossible to spread. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS PANERA! BTW, the staff here is FANTASTIC and cheerful and wonderfully helpful. This isn't a knock against them just the way Panera corporate trains everyone. If I have one comment for staff please put the coffee in the dispensers in the same order every day all day. It is seemingly random how this is done and if you come often you get get used to certain things in certain places and then someone rips the rug out from under you and puts the hot water where the coffee belongs. Brother and I were looking for somewhere decent among several other unknown options in a quasi distant city. I have not been to a Panera I quite a while. Not sure exactly why, maybe too many other options where I do live. Anyway, we decided Panera was it. Parking lot was large, clean and easy to enter and park. Nice outside seating area as well. Entrance to the restaurant was clean and inviting and the display of baked goods in the glass case before us was indeed tempting. I did get two cookies to go for later after lunch. I ordered the half sandwich garden caprese and Mediterranean Chicken greens with grains. I can't decide which was more delicious. The salad had feta. Cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, Red peppers. Salad greens, grains and a lovely blob of hummus also a very nice light dressing. The caprese sandwich was really tasty. Everything on it melded into a party in each bite. I'd definitely order both of these again. Brother completely enjoyed his salad as well. I must digress, we ordered, got the electronic alert device and waited not more than 5-10 minutes for our food to be ready. Pretty darn quick and it was all correct. I will definitely consider going to my local Panera once back home. I actually feel like I've been missing out on some good stuff. Again, not sure exactly why I haven't been to Panera for so long, but as the Terminator says "I'll be back". read more

I got 13 bagels today for just 7.49! Pick of the week special. I don't usually come here. But I was hungry for an egg sandwich. I thought they would do an awesome job. I was disappointed! The ciabatta bread was fresh however. They didn't have ham as a choice; just sausage and bacon. I got bacon and unfortunately it was just pieces of broken over cooked bacon. I'll post a picture. I asked for scrambled eggs. As you can see from the photo, this is a very poor attempt at a breakfast sandwich. I think a local gas station might do better. read more

I am a member of Panera Bread and subscribed to their unlimited coffee plan. We were around Binghamton area and would like to pick up my daily coffee redemption at this location. The instruction on the app for curbside pickup is pressing "I am here" button and the staff would bring orders to the pick up point. However, after pressing the button and waiting for about 15 minutes, no one showed up so we went in to check what's going on. The staff told us we need to fill in our cup to do the daily coffee redemption so it's not available for curbside pickup. I think it's totally fine to help myself to finish my order but there should be a more clear instruction on the app or someone should show up when we wait outside. The information on their app was totally misleading from the actual situation. It showed only curbside pickup available but it also opened for dine-in. I love their coffee and food due to the reasonable price and great portion. However, this location should definitely improve their customer service and updating the information on the app. read more

I had several dishes from here but my absolute favorite is the strawberry/poppyseed salad! I went through the drive thru and it was a bit of a wait but worth it. This salad has an abundance of strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and walnuts. The poppyseed dressing added to the salad. I even got a free cookie for the wait. The girl who cashed me out at the window was extremely pleasant. You can have added chicken to your salad if you want it. read more

I have never been inside. Always drive-thru or curbside pickup when they had that service. I only order salads, and It's amazing how often they mess it up. I get a large Greek Salad with chicken (a 3$ upgrade) every single Friday and three times since September I had no chicken in my salad. This week I tried the Green Goddess Cobb Salad and MISSING from the salad was the hard boiled egg, bacon, avocado and red pickled onions. Thinks NOT in the recipe that was in my salad was regular onions, peperoncini and olives. They RARELY answer the phone when I call. Disappointing Business Lunch. Over 24 hours in advance, I submitted an online order for a dozen business lunches. The meals arrived 20 minutes late, which is a lot of time during a daylong training workshop. And then it was short two meals, forcing us to scrounge food for our unlucky colleagues. The delivery driver says Panera started working on our order just 20-minutes before it was due. Given the pandemic, I had hoped each lunch would be in an individual box. Instead, the sandwiches and salads and soups were all piled together in paper bags. The catering representative was very nice and apologetic. She refunded the two undelivered meals. Tasty and healthy lunch at Panera. The Pick Two option allowed me a half salad and cup of soup that made for a substantial meal. The strawberry poppyseed salad with chicken was under 300 calories (2 WW points) and the soup was flavorful. Iced tea and an apple left me full but I did accept a taste of the dessert bread that they were sampling. Slowest service I have ever seen at a Panera. The food is mostly the same at all locations so no complaints there; but this one needs a serious management makeover. Even when the restaurant is closed, and all they have is drive thru at 9am -- it can take anywhere from 20-40 mins to get just an order of the morning coffee. The app is constantly wrong on preparation times we have waited over an hour for our order. $130 for 8 sandwich's and it's always late, portions are slim and worst of all orders are incorrect requiring us to drive back over for the missing items. Ive tried to call to voice our concerns and get orders corrected but no one answers their phones, I tried to contact them on the app and there isn't an option to get things resolved. My son got a cubano panini special, I got a pesto chicken panini and we split a bird of paradise salad and brought one home to his wife. The food was really good. My son said three times, "This is really good!" The line had about six people ahead of me but even then with people getting multiple orders it went fairly quickly even though each is made-to-order, no refrigerated pre-made salads. Panera is by far one of the most popular lunch places in Vestal and as such, one of those places where it's nearly impossible to get a parking spot once noon hits. Food is consistently pretty good and service is both fast and friendly. Unfortunately due to the number of customers, the food is sometimes rushed-- cheese will come half melted, sandwich looks sloppily put together, etc. Taste usually isn't too affected though, and that's the most important part anyway. Plenty of seating inside-- just wish they could somehow expand their parking lot. As far as what to order, my go-to is the frontega chicken panini and their baked potato soup (which unfortunately they only serve on certain days of the week). We went to this Panera during a visit to NY for a wedding. I order the strawberry Caprese Salad and the Modern Caprese Sandwich and it was delicious! Panera Bread is a great restaurant if you are looking to get away from the typical fast food. Despite what others have said the food is relatively healthy, if you get the half size salad and soup. My personal favorite is the Steak and Bleu Cheese Salad. They also have really good bagels. The ambiance is similar to most coffee shops. It's great to bring a book and relax after a good meal. Overall, I really enjoy the food here. It's not heavy, it's mostly healthy, and it tastes really good. read more

Stopped here on the way home from a family visit. It was Sunday around 3 PM and, for some reason, the place was slammed. The drive-thru was backed all the way to the parking lit and the dining room was busy, with a steady stream of orders. Yes, it took us about 15 minutes to get our food after ordering, but what impressed me was how organized and calm the staff was under this pressure. There was an expediter standing on the dining room side of the counter, making sure the orders went to the right customers. The kitchen appeared to have adequate staffing, and everyone was focused and communicative. When I complimented one of the staff members, I was promptly thanked. This is definitely one of the best Paneras I have been to as far as experience, even with the longer wait. read more

This was a favorite stop of mine for a quick lunch. However, they do 2 things that are really annoying. 1.If they burn one of there cookies, breads, or pastries they will not throw it out. They try to pass it off on the customers. 2. they refuse to cut of the stems on the hot peppers they put in the sandwiches. Its horrible to bite into one of these stems. Im not a beaver and I cant eat wood. IMO there should never be ANYTHING inedible hidden inside a sandwich. Everything that I never believed existed! I had my Panera Bread cherry popped two months ago, what a shame! I know, I've missed out on this gem for years. I had no idea how good the food and service is! I walked in there with a few friends and, I was overwhelmed by the choices. It took me a while to decide but the cashier was new as well, so it worked out :) We had a nice bonding session, she gave me a huge cup for water. The food came out relatively quick, two words: BREAD BOWL! My mind was blown, although I got the black bean soup and I should have ordered cream of tomato soup. My friend ordered the cream of tomato soup in a bowl and she let me basically drink her entire soup because she wasn't hungry. I did the two deal, which lets you get half a sandwich with either soup or salad. I decided to get the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich, which was delicious but I enjoyed eating that soup more than anything. --- 2nd experience @ Panera My second trip to Panera, I did not make the same bread bowl mistake. Food always tastes very good (their lunch portions are good for the price - I have had their chicken tortellini alfredo twice and enjoyed it), but my food was lukewarm when my delivery order arrived. I understand that it might take 30 or 40 minutes to be made and delivered, but for it to be nearly cold when I had to pay almost $20 to have it delivered in the first place is just in poor taste. Seating is a problem when you are in a large group. If you go with a large group, expect a long wait on your order. The new pricing is ridiculous for the serving size for the pick any two. It use to be one set price and you can select any two half items, but now the pick any two has two different prices. It's not worth it to do the pick any two.
