I've been eating here since they first opened and it's always been outstanding. Trying to find somewhere with both vegetarian and gluten free options can be really hard, but they have both here! Even when it's packed full on trivia nights, the service is always excellent. The vegan nachos, tempeh Ruben sandwich, and the beyond sausage with peppers and onions are my favorite items. If you're looking for a place top go with friends that has a really nice atmosphere, lots of options for everyone, and is extremely affordable, this is your place! read more

Very happy to have discovered this gem! I stopped here for lunch with my dad just after they opened at 11:30 am Thursday. It was quiet when we arrived, but more customers were streaming in by the time we left, many of whom seemed to be regulars and have a good relationship with the staff. Our waitress and the other staff were all really sweet. Besides their food menu, which caters to a variety of tastes and diets, they also have a cocktail menu, and extensive wine and tea menus. I really like that they can do lattes made to order (hot or iced, sweet or unsweetened) with any of the teas they offer - I got a tea latte with the Chocolate Cream Truffles tea. It was very pretty to look at (topped with foam and dusted with cocoa powder) and also tasted nice and smooth. My Tempeh Reuben and side of Kale Slaw were so good! All the individual components of the sandwich were tasty and together they were perfectly balanced. I was just so excited to see this on the menu because I love the Swiss cheese/kraut/sauce combination of the traditional Reuben but can't have the meat, so I was very happy to be able to enjoy it with tempeh. I had a taste of my dad's vegetarian chili too. It was very tasty and a little sweeter than most chilis which was interesting. I had a vegan chocolate cupcake for dessert. This was less "interesting" than the rest of the food I got but still good. The shredded coconut on top was a nice touch. Definitely a place I'd visit again! They also have dinner specials and occasional special brunches which I'd love to check out sometime. read more

We stopped in because the yelp reviews were so good, and WOW!! The cafe mocha lattes blew our socks off! I had a vanilla (sweetened, whole milk) and my best buddy had a chocolate cafe mocha (sweetened whole milk). Both were AMAZING - they remind fed me of vanilla cake and chocolate cake. This is a great cafe that caters to people with a wide range of diets. They offer dishes with meat in addition to vegan and vegetarian options. I had a Beyond Meat sausage wrap - it was really good, with flavorful sauce. Service was also attentive and courteous. The café itself is also very spacious and nicely decorated. I came to visit my friend in Johnson city for the weekend! She told me about this cafe so I looked up the menu... the reviews looked great! The cafe is very welcoming the staff and waitresses was very friendly... it's a small and intimate setting. I ordered the tempeh Ruben... it was delicious! The made it vegan for me because it comes with Swiss cheese so they swapped it out for vegan cheese. My friend ordered the dipper sliders she said the were good as well, and her daughter ordered the beyond sausage with onions and peppers it was also delicious. The only disappointment was the lemon drop martini... it was awful very weak and bitter, they were kind enough to take it off the bill. Overall great food and service!!! What a nice find! Great menu with an assortment of vegetarian, vegan and "normal" meals; something for everyone. I had the kale power bowl, which was wonderfully prepared with a great presentation (picture attached to review). My wife had the Pineapple Prosciutto Flatbread, which she thoroughly enjoyed. There was one lady cooking, one lady serving, and one lady floating around helping the cook and server. As busy as it was, these three ladies KILLED it! Have enjoyed each vegan lunch and dinner I've had in this lovely setting. Staff is always so friendly and helpful. They outdid themselves when we dropped in without a reservation on Valentines Day. Not only did they let us take the one table they had left, but we were able to order and enjoy the seafood paella which was a special option they had available just for that day. I went for dinner last night (8/23/17) with friend and was a little disappointed. On the plus side, at least there is some place on Main St in Johnson City that does not look like a complete dump. The resturant is very nice-looking inside. (However, I am not a big fan of the extra high tables and chairs.) The service is also very friendly. A bad sign was that from 6:00 to 7:30, there was only myself, my companion, and another couple in the restaurant. Seeing that made me wonder how much longer this place can stay in business. I had the Chicken Caprese on a bed of rice. The actual food was good, and it had a nice presentation, but my meal was not warm enough--which makes me suspect that it wasn't right out of the oven but rather had gone from frig to microwave. My companion did not complain about the mac-filled poetobello mushroom, so I imagine that was acceptable. I felt that the humus tasted a little off, and they definitely don't know how to make a scone. (I'm tempted to send them my recipe.) Overall, this place has great potential, but in such a depressed area (Sorry downtown Johnson City! But you look like the South Bronx circa 1988.) they may struggle. I'm glad I tried this restaurant, but I'd only go back to try them for lunch to see if that was better. I suspect that this might be more of a lunch place. read more

I'm in love with this place! It's so nice to see cute little quality businesses popping up around the area. I have only visited twice so far but I plan on becoming a regular. I've come here with my best friends the past couple weeks for lunch and have been so impressed by the welcoming and happy vibes, the quick service and the fantastic lunches! So far I have enjoyed a turkey and pesto panini and a portobello mushroom sandwich. Sandwiches come with a side. I'd recommend the kale slaw. It's really tasty! So, I tried the Grapevine Cafe in Johnson City. I got the tempeh Reuben, one of my favorite sandwiches we make at home from time to time. It was good. Not great, but good. It was a little on the small side, to be honest... Not made with normal large rye bread but rather regular sandwich sized rye. It came with a little cup of pasta salad which was rather bland and dry. I am not a big eater, but I would call this a "light lunch" at best. Yet the price was $8.99, $9.67 with tax and $12 with tip. Twelve bucks for a small sandwich? Look, I'm no cheapskate, but that is way too much. Maybe if the sandwich and side were mindblowingly good, but they weren't. $5.99 I could have been cool with so in my eyes this was priced 50% too high. But the thing is, there is no way they will make it with prices like that. No way, not in that neighborhood, not even if they were in downtown Binghamton. I hate to see businesses fail after people put so much into them but more often they do because the owners don't understand the marketplace they exist in. If this place doesn't make it, this will be the reason. If price is not all a concern for you, check them out. Otherwise, eh... read more
