a sandwich and a bowl of soup

Yum! We came to the area for a fall getaway and this had popped up on my wife's Facebook page. A quick look on Yelp and we had our lunch spot picked for us. We had the Gobbler sandwich, breakfast sandwich and roast beef. Turkey and stuffing soup and a cup of the tomato rounded it all out. Delicious food and great service. We were asked a number of times if we were enjoying our meal. Would definitely return and recommend!

Love this place! And we're just passing through. The staff is so friendly and I would definitely stop by again. Thanks for having us. Minis of New Jersey motoring club heading home!

Stopped in for lunch on a recent Sunday, based largely on reviews from Yelp. We had just finished a couple of hours of "antiquing" at the local emporium and wanted a bite before we left town. The Owego Kitchen did not disappoint. Friendly and attentive staff from start to finish. We placed our orders at the counter and sat at one of several tables available. Our food was brought out within minutes and it was delicious. The special Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Panini, Homemade cinnamon roll and the Maple Egg Melt were happily consumed by all. Covid protocols were observed by staff and customers during our visit. Happy that we found this gem and will be excited to stop back in the next time we are in Owego!

Carrot cake, brownie w/ peanut butter frosting, & Not Your Mom's Tuna Salad (& horseradish roast beef in background)

This is my favourite lunch spot in Owego! My go-to sandwich is the Not Your Mom's Tuna Salad, which has a tangy bite that sets it apart from the usual tuna salad, but everything I've tried has been good. The desserts are amazing - they have a rotating selection of which I've tried dulce de leche cheesecake, a peanut butter brownie, and an apple cinnamon crumb cake. They also have a selection of iced coffee and sometimes tea. Normally I prefer tea to coffee but on my latest visit they didn't have any teas available so I tried the salted caramel iced coffee and was impressed with the clean, smooth flavour. Right now they have limited indoor seating and a covered area out back with a few tables for eating outside.

I've driven by this town so many times and finally decided to stop and walk around. Found this place and it seemed surprisingly hipster given the area. They had kombucha on tap to fill growlers. And a nice assortment of cold brew coffees and iced teas available. I decided to try the "Italian Egg Sandwich" ($5.79), which was interesting and tasted like a Chicago hot Italian beef sandwich, except the beef was actually bacon. I guess it's the hot pepper relish that was giving it that flavor. It had potential, although there was an aftertaste I just couldn't get away from. Every bite had this subtle sourness, almost like something was rancid. There was never a bite that didn't have it. I tried the relish itself and it wasn't that. It might have been the ciabatta being a bit stale. It might have been the griddle they use having burned a bit of bacon fat and resulting in everything cooked on it having the taste of rancid oil on it. I'm not sure, but it really ruined the sandwich. I also had an apple pastry that was pretty good. The apple filling tasted great and had a nice cinnamon flavor to it that was tastefully done. The crust could have been a bit more crispy. The best thing I had here was the "Jamaican Me Crazy" iced coffee from the self-serve coffee area. I assume it was cold brew, since the flavor was so clean. They were able to bring out all the great flavors of the coffee without any of the acidity. I would definitely try this place again next time I'm driving through and hope the strange aftertaste of that breakfast sandwich was a one-time thing.

The prices look really reasonable so we figured we'd give it a shot. When we arrived, the storefront didn't look like anything special, nothing really appealing to bring someone in, just kind of blended in with the rest of the block... And after entering, it still didn't really reach out and grab us. Not a lot of decoration, a few tables with chairs and a couple of booths, and a counter to order from which is perfectly fine but I didn't know having never been there if they had a wait staff or anything. So we looked over the menu for a minute and ordered a couple of dishes. My wife I believe had a chicken and lamb platter, and I had the fish platter. So far up to this point everything was fine but nothing was really over the top awesome, and then we sat down and ate. Oh my gosh that food was good. My wife absolutely loves tzatziki sauce which of course they had, and the chicken and lamb was served with rice and you get choices like lettuce and tomato and hummus and chickpeas that they can add to your platter. My fish platter was incredible. Her and I both commented a couple times to the gentleman at the counter that the fish was cooked perfectly. It was nice and lite and flaky and I wish there were more than just the two pieces on there. The price of everything did not break the bank by any means, and they do offer wraps, burgers, and breakfast items. We will definitely be returning customers...

He had it John Wayne style, which means chili and cheese on top. It was quite large and excellent. I ordered their blueberry pancakes with a slice of ham. Also, very large and tasty. They make their own iced tea--no soda fountain tea here!! It was very dark and rich. My husband said that they also have very good coffee. One thing I noted was how quickly the food came after our order. We were not unique. I noticed many were also served quickly. Service is great. I don't usually like syrup on pancakes and when I asked, they gave me something else other than syrup. We talked with some of our friends who come to Becky's almost daily and they said that the diner starts their order as soon as they sit down (because it doesn't change very often), and it comes out within a few minutes of sitting down. There are lots of booths along the walls and tables in the center. Vinyl tablecloths are used. Very practical. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which is really nice in the summer and fall. They are open for breakfast and lunch. The owner keeps a food pantry outside the door. I think this is one of the best breakfast places around. 5 stars as it is everything you'd expect in a breakfast/lunch diner plus great service and friendly atmosphere.

Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!
