I chose this place because it was in walking distance to the hotel I was staying. It's not really a diner in a sense of you can order whatever you want at any time, I really wanted a burger but couldn't have because it was breakfast time. I had the one pancake two eggs two strips of bacon a slice of ham and a sausage patty, that's a whole lot of meat but I did skimp on the bacon the taste was not to my liking, it didn't have an authentic bacon taste it tasted cheap and paper thin. But everything else was pretty OK the service was good I would return if I was ever in the area. Get there early because the place fills up pretty quickly as it is a small space. read more

Stopped by here on a whim traveling. Typical diner - food was good nothing spectacular. Service ok. Two of my kids ordered sandwiches and on the menu they say they come with pickle and slaw. When they came out there was no pickle or slaw. When I asked the waitress about it she said there's a new owner and he only wants us to bring the sides out if people ask. Umm ok how about just maybe raising the prices? Or taking the sides off the menu? read more

Breakfast & lunch only & credit cards accepted too. Tip 20% at least please folks. These ladies literally RUN to bring you hot fresh food in from the service. Our first visit to River Rock was short but not sweet. We arrived around 9:30 am on a Saturday. There were several open seats and we saw one waitress at first. After sitting for 15 minutes, a busboy asked if anyone had been over to give us a menu or get our drink order. He took pity on us and got our coffees. We then sat for another fifteen minutes while the waitress passed our table several times but did not glance our way. Needless to say, we offered to pay for our coffees on our way out and only then did we see two waitresses behind the counter At that point, they found the time to speak us to apologize and ask us to stay. The waitress even followed us out to the parking lot to offer a free meal. Maybe they should extend that same amount of effort when the customers are in the seats. Needless to say, we declined that extremely tardy offer, but did get a free coffee out of the very negative experience. There are several other restaurants in Owego where they don't ignore their customers. Go to one of those!!! read more

The prices here are pretty reasonable, entrees in the $3.95-$8.95 range. I stopped at River Rock Diner for breakfast recently. It was seat yourself and I found an open table. I ordered the Western Omelet ($4.95) with American cheese (add $0.50) and an ice water (I already had coffee beforehand). The food was served to me in about 10 minutes after ordering. The portion of food was the right size and filling. The rectangular shaped Western Omelet was the blended type with a mix of ham, green peppers, onions, and cheese. The homefries were seasoned chopped potatoes, grilled firm on the outside to a crisp. The wheat toast was already buttered, Smuckers preserves on the table. Overall, the breakfast I had was very good and reasonably priced. The service by the waitress was prompt and I was given another ice water as I finished the first glass. read more

It is late September and the weather is absolutely gorgeous and a lot warmer than it should be for this time of year. My husband and I decided to come here after a doctors appointment for breakfast. We run our own little café down the road and don't get a chance to come up this way very often. Courtney was our server and she did a wonderful job! She was very accommodating and let us dine on the back deck. The weather was gorgeous,and their outdoor seating was lovely! They have a double deck with a very nice view of the Susquehanna River. The food was delicious and came out quickly. We had a delightful experience and highly recommend it for breakfast. We hope to stop back for lunch because they have an extensive menu and they are open until 3 PM daily. read more

Such a overlooked jewel if you aren't from the neighborhood. Happened to have time to stop here (even though I was on a time crunch of 30 minutes.) I entered and right away felt a friendly ambiance. I asked to order take out and the items were pretty cheap. We thought no way could they be good, but they were! Ordered a tuna melt with sweet potato fries, chicken salad and New England clam chowder. While I waited I enjoyed the view outside and the hostess offered me water- even to pack my water to go. Stopped here on a whim after catching a movie in Owego. This place had good reviews on Yelp. Very impressed. We both had salads, Chef and Cobb. Both were excellent and large. I also had Manhattan Clam Chowder which was very good. Server Tara was pleasant and attentive. An excellent meal. Recommended. We will be back. read more
