Best bagels in Sullivan Catskills. I pick them up at the Barryville farmers market. The cheddar jalapeño is awesome!

One of the best if not the best bagels ever. So happy we are able to get them in the Catskills!

Cute little cafe serving up some great coffee and delicious food. We spent about $40 for breakfast…read moreso I would consider it more than a to-go type of place. Unfortunately, the 3/5 stars is for (1) Not having any tap/filter water available. I bought water but it's just not a sustainable practice. (2) Not just not having a bathroom for customers but the attitude I got when I just inquired about both things... We were going to grab a couple cookies on the way out, but just ended up leaving.

4.5 A close friend…read moresuggested we take the 20-minute drive from the place we were staying to this spot, and it was well worth it. The place is well-lit, clean, and has a nice, chill vibe. The staff is super friendly, always smiling, and they all seem to enjoy being there. Food-wise, we got coffee, the Early Bird sandwich (sausage, egg, and cheddar on a biscuit), and another biscuit with jam (sorry, no pic). The biscuits are square, flaky, and buttery. The jam appeared to be homemade mixed berry, and it was really tasty. The SEC was also really good--pairing those buttery, flaky biscuits with sausage patties, cheddar, and egg made for breakfast perfection! If you're an avocado lover, the Early Bird should be your go-to, as they give you at least half an avocado. There are two drawbacks to the Walk In: 1) It's not a place with many seats. They have three tables and some counter space, so if you're planning to eat there, be warned. 2) I wish they had more bakery items besides biscuits, bagels, and cookies (which are also really good). They had a neon artwork of a croissant that wasn't lit up, so maybe they used to serve them but don't anymore? Overall, though, thumbs up! If you're ever in the Livingston Manor area, check them out.

I pass through Monticello a few times a year and Monticello Bagel has turned into my little road…read moretrip ritual. I pull off, stretch my legs, and you can smell the toasters working the second you open the door. Last time it was a rainy morning and the whole place had that warm bakery air. I ordered an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and a coffee. The bagel came out still warm in a brown paper bag. Good crust, proper chew, not bready. Seeds actually stick instead of shedding all over the car. Small thing, but it matters. The line can look long from the door, but it moves. I was back in my car in maybe ten minutes. Parking is straightforward. If I am trying to make time, the drive through is there and does what it should. The staff is focused and quick. Not chatty in a forced way. Just normal, which I appreciate before caffeine. This is not a fancy place and it does not try to be. No rainbow bagels, no dessert disguised as breakfast. It is a simple bagel shop that knows its lane. Price felt fair. Coffee was hot and not burnt. Cream cheese ratio was right. I am picky about that. Do I wish the menu had a little more going on. Yeah. A couple extra spreads, maybe a rotating special. If you want wild flavors, this is not that stop. But the classics are done properly, and that is why I keep coming back. If you are passing through town and need a quick breakfast that will not let you down, this is an easy yes. Park, grab a bag, get back on the road. Simple, reliable, and it hits the spot..

They are planning to close around Columbus Day. For those of you that don't know, Jewish businesses open up in the summer and close when the kids go back to school. Communities with many of these businesses are aflutter with activity and then.....nada. Ghost town. South Fallsburg, Woodridge, and Woodbourne are prime examples. Blink....and you might miss this bakery. Fallsburg seems to be this intersection-a Stewarts on one side, a body shop on the other, Dollar General up ahead, and on the one side, a few Jewish businesses. An ice cream shop, a pizza place, and this bakery. My GPS was trying to point me across the street to the Dollar General. Anyway, once inside, there is a quick sale rack in which I found what I was looking for at an incredible price! Russian babkas at $2 each. After the season, you cannot find a babka in Walmart or Shoprite and if you did, they are usually around $7 or $8. I went late in the day at 4pm, so the bakery was empty, but that's a good thing. Get your last minute things before he leaves!!! Freeze them!
