Excellent brunch at Mansour's. Looking for a local, chic, relaxing place for brunch? We thought…read morethis place was spot on. We looked at a few different options for places to eat and thought this one would be nice for a sit down discussion. We got there around 10 AM and a few patrons were scattered about. Quite a variety of different places to sit, we sat at a table for two near the bar. Handed a breakfast/lunch menu so many things looked so good. We weren't sure what to go with so we asked for some of their favorites. We were offered suggestions on the avocado toast and the poppy. I went with the avocado toast. As always, I bagged the onion and kept all the other ingredients which included avocado spread, spinach, tomato, sunflower seeds, and an egg over easy. You have a choice of toast, including white, wheat, or rye. Gotta go with wheat! Absolutely a terrific place to go to and support the local community and get everything you'd want and one of those chain type coffee shops (you know the green one I'm talking about) and get a much more natural, even lower cost option

However, the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the quiche and the avocado toast with a side of potatoes. Potatoes were burned, well, charred really. They did take them off the bill. Quiche was so so, and the avocado toast had a ton of raw spinach on it, which was hard to eat along with the toast. Should have come steamed or sautéed instead. Bacon was good though! I was very excited about the pastry case at first since everything in there looked fresh and home made, but when I was trying to decide what to get "to go", like one of their muffins, I saw flies buzzing around and landing on the items. No thank you. I know flies are around in the summer, but the pastry case should be shielded from bugs at all times. I think if I were in the area I may give this place another chance since I liked other things about it like the atmosphere and the fact that it did look like a local family favorite.

For breakfast on my first trip I had the Lumberjack Special and oh my goodness, it was so much food. My scrambled eggs were perfect- not overdone or underdone. This time I got a tuna club sandwich and disco fries. My companions had a build your own burger and a grilled cheese and tomato and more bacon cheese ranch fries.

Their delivery radius is larger than typical, so it couldn't hurt to ask even if you think you're too far away. My husband wanted to try this place and I have to admit, walking in there the first time, I didn't have high hopes. I've been to a lot of country cafés that looked like this, and I'm used to a simple and limited menu and a lot of stuff frozen or from cans. I ordered the ravioli special and my husband had a burger. The ravioli was good, the sauce was home made. But my husband raved about his hamburger. He's quite the aficionado, and he was quick to declare that he would have expected to pay near twice as much for a burger of that quality. We've been back several times since they opened earlier this year and we have never been disappointed. We were a bit skeptical when they added pizza to their menu a month or two ago, but tonight we decided to try it. It's our new favorite pizza in the area. It's real New York style, big and flat with a foldable, chewy crust and a sauce that is flavorful and not at all sweet. The prices are good value, the owners are friendly, and food is worth the trip to Forest City.

From the very beginning of the booking process all the way through our wedding day, they were amazing to work with. Shawna and her staff were extremely thorough when helping us decide which packages and options would be the best fit for our wedding, and they made the entire process so easy and stress-free. With the million questions I had for Shawna throughout the entire process, she made accommodations specifically for me when I asked and I cannot thank her enough. Any extra additions, like cutting my cake (which was from a different vendor), including a special bottle of liquor for my father, and SO much more; The Red Schoolhouse made everything I needed for my big day possible without hesitation. On our wedding day, everything was handled perfectly. The staff was incredibly timely and attentive with our guests, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The food and drinks were a huge hit with everyone, and we received so many compliments from our guests! Big hit food items were the Swedish meatballs and penne primavera, my guests STILL talk about how good these were. We are so grateful for everything this team did to make our wedding day run seamlessly. They were professional, organized, accommodating, and truly went above and beyond. We couldn't recommend them enough to anyone looking for catering and bartending for their wedding or special event!
