Sometimes you read about a 4 or 5 star place on Yelp, but they don't really live up to the hype. Crossroad Chicken definitely does! I checked their Facebook to get their location today and took a day trip from Dublin up to Napa. My girlfriend got the Wood Oven Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich. It came on a really good fresh roll (I believe a french roll). The mozzarella was fresh and the chicken was juicy and succulent. It was outstanding! I got the Curried Chicken and Vegetable Sandwich. The chicken curry was perfectly spiced, and again, everything was freshly bought and made. The pomegranate-nectarine chutney on top went perfectly with the sandwich. It's the best sandwich I've had in a long time. Both sandwiches came with a great arugula salad tossed in a white wine dressing. I talked with the 2 guys that run the truck for a bit. They're very friendly, hospitable, and, most importantly, they clearly take a lot of pride in their work. Great value, outstanding cuisine, and hospitable service. You can't miss this if you're in Napa, especially if you're even 1/2 a foodie. read more

As we were driving on the highway to the Napa wineries, we spotted the words "Wood Fired" on a food truck and had to make a u-turn to see what this was all about. I admit, I thought the food truck was serving wood fired pizzas and was at first disappointed when I saw the menu. However, I soon discovered that the chef here is a culinary expert and uses ingredients from sustainably farmed and local products whenever possible. Having previously worked as a chef at Acacia Winery for many years, he started this food truck business just a few months ago. There is actually a real wood fired oven, and he has the proper insignia on his truck so you know he's legit. I had the Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ Meyer Lemon Aioli, Tomatoes, Red Onions, and Greens ($8.95). Definitely your gourmet sandwich. The bread was fresh and the chicken was quite tasty with the aioli and heirloom tomatoes. The heirloom tomatoes were amazing too. Every bite made me wanting more. I also ordered the Rancho Gordo Anasazi Bean Chili w/ chopped red onions and sour cream ($4.95). The Anasazi beans are some kind of heirloom beans. Wow, heirloom beans too? The chili was different than what I'm used to, but good in a way. It had less of a chili flavor, but was still spicy, hearty and bold. I had the chicken salad the other day and it was fantastic! I like that they use both white and dark meat and the smoke flavor came through very nicely. It also had some dried cranberries, croutons, and feta cheese. I also like the rocket salad mix; not a big fan for romaine lettuce. read more

I only recently started sampling their menu and have only tried their vegetarian options (bowls & sandwiches)... and they have all been WOW! The quality (ingredients, flavor, way it's prepared -- everything!) is through the roof! Their menu is short and changes each week (only a few things are static), but it was love at first bite and EVERY week since I've gone back for more... and every week has been just as yummy and gratifying! This truck stopped by my work the other day (close to Napa Airport) and I ordered the arugula salad which had large fresh figs, goat cheese, walnuts (best walnuts I've had..what were they?) and I added chicken. Delicious and filling! When I brought it back to work my coworkers saw it and left to get one for themselves because it looked so good. Chef Kevin does not dissapoint! I had the chicken sandwich from this' van's wood-fired oven, which comes covered in mozzarella. Delicious! Even the ingredients are grade A+, where does he get those gorgeous tomatoes?? He uses basil mayo on the toasted french roll, and because I took this back to the office, I did feel the need to have a mint afterwards. But it was worth it. On weekdays you'll find him parked in or near the Demptos parking lot on Soscol Ferry Rd during traditional lunchtime. This is not a cheap "taco truck". We and my wife went to Napa for our honeymoon. We went to many places to eat that ranged from fancy restaurants like Morimoto to a food truck called Crossroad Chicken. I have to say, we probably had our best experience at Crossroad Chicken. The two guys from the truck (forgot their names) was super awesome. We chatted about our honeymoon and about Napa during the time we ordered our food. The guys were really sincere and seemed to care a lot about what we had to say. So service was great, on to the food. We had one of their chicken sandwiches and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches we ever ever ate. The chicken was really tender and flavorful, the bread was nicely toasted, and the flavor was just there. A nice brother owned chicken sandwich cart with a simple concept: fresh, local, organic and free range! They really embrace using wholesome ingredients and letting them speak for themselves. The menu is simple, wood fired chicken sandwiches as well as some vegan options. The chicken mozzarella sandwich and vegan chili are standards, while other items change seasonally. The most amazing thing was that there was actually a wood burning stove in the cart! Kevin, one of the owners, let my group take a look inside while he was making our food. He also explained the ethics behind his food. A $10 sandwich is higher than usual, but 80% of the cost goes to paying for the ingredients and 20% of the cost is actual profit. I have to say Crossroad Chicken makes it easy to see why food trucks are becoming so popular. We are lucky enough here in Napa to have a few choices in food trucks and Crossroad is a great example of the high quality of food that can be prepared in a mobile Kitchen. I have had a few different dishes here and everytime they are prepared carefully, very moist and flavorful food, competitive pricing and fast service. Also following them on Twitter is helpful because they typically tweet daily their location and any special they have running. You can find them a few nights of the week at JV, they are at the Chef's Market in downtown Napa on Thursday night and I believe are typically at the Flora Springs Food Round-Up. I was able to catch the truck while it was in town for a street food festival in October. The sandwiches we were given were both very large and very tasty. I had a smoked salmon that was excellent and came with a salad side that made a fine starter and a quality add-on to my sandwich. The soft sourdough roll was a true star. It was soft, lightly toasted in their wood-fired oven, and full of a great sour taste worthy of the region. Outstanding. My wife opted for the pulled pork and it was generous enough that there is still some in our fridge. At just over $8 for each sandwich/salad, it was a steal. Best range of options I have seen in a food truck. As a vegetarian I seldom find great food from food trucks. Either there are few options or the portions are small or everything is very spicy. This truck was great for chicken lovers (as friends told me) and veggie lovers. The rice and bean bowl was wonderful - as was the mac and cheese. At first we were wondering how good of a place whose name has "Chicken" in the title could be for us, vegetarians. Well, we took the plunge and we are soooo happy we did. Their mushroom sandwich was one of the best sandwiches we have ever eaten. It was fresh and was not dripping in fat like places we've been used to in the past. SO amazing. Even meat-eaters would appreciate it. ALSO: The owner is super friendly. I can't even remember the last time an eatery has offered such amazing customer service. You can really tell that he enjoys what he does (and he is really good at it!) His wife made the cheesecake on the menu (we ordered 3!) I am in love with a CHICKEN TRUCK. This is not some truck you see, particularly in the South, full of baskets of live chickens flying down the freeway, feathers flying out behind, and one sorry bird hanging on for dear life on top. My memory, not yours, I was behind that truck. This truck is a thing of beauty, parked at JV Wine and Spirits, here in Napa. Food trucks being the current craze they are, why wouldn't we have the best? I was picking up a couple of special bottles for a client's boss. My client, who by the way called me from San Jose, was saying her boss wanted a couple of bottles for a reception he was attending in an hour and a half...from now...today.... They weren't on our wine list so I suggested she call JV, and I'd run across town and pick them up. Done deal. That's customer service. He was happy, and she was happy. Pulling into the parking lot I spotted said chicken truck and remembered hearing and reading about it. OK, dinner was easy. Walked up to the truck after picking up the wine, and read the menu: #1 Whole Chicken Meal $25.95. #2 1/2 Chicken Meal $15.95. #3 1/4 Chicken Meal $7.95, or around that. Sides looked interesting: Green Salad, Chili w/ Rancho Gordo Beans, even Cheesecake, but it's Summer, so Cheesecake just seems wrong. Nice couple of guys chatting while I ordered the 1/2 Chicken Meal with Green Salad and Chili, and waited. 'Onions and Sour Cream on the Chili'? Of course. It's 4:30pm and I'm the only one in line, but not to worry. He handed me the big brown paper bag, and I didn't look inside, needing to get back to the Hotel quick. I folded the top over and drove back, delivered the wine, turned off the computer, and left. My car smelled a little smokey, a nice smokey, not too familiar, like oh yea, Mesquite. Hmmmm. I brought the bag into the kitchen and set it on the stove, opened the bag, and there it was. A half baguette of bread. Oh, my! Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft white on the inside. Beside the baguette was a foil bag, and below it was a box. I peaked inside the foil bag and inhaled deeply the smokey aromas coming from the dark bird and spotted some white flesh. Put that aside, and pulled out the box while crunching on the baguette. Did I say it was perfect: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And this was from a truck! Inside the box was the dark green salad with 2 thick slices of ripe red tomatoes and some diced purple onion. Beside that was the container of chili w/ the translucent top showing sour cream pressed into the chili. A little sauce running down the side. I am so game for this meal. The chili, meatless, I think, had big dark red beans and a thick rich sauce, also spicy, but not too hot. This is man food. I feel my caveman coming on...I put the whole slice of tomato in my mouth because I know it's going to be good. And it's...sublime...the only word for tomatoes that taste like red sunshine. Warmed by the Chili it sat beside, tasting like you picked it in the garden and ate it before you left the row. Good vinaigrette, like pure olive oil and vinegar, and I taste fresh peppercorns. I eat the Salad and Chili first, along with the baguette, then I plate up the chicken. I took pictures, too. Who wouldn't? This Chicken was dark, the wingtip and leg all black and smokey. The white and dark flesh underneath was moist and pulled apart in big chunks. Just for reference, I'm not in front of the stove at this point, but have moved to a chair, yes, sadly in front of the computer. I'm watching reruns of Lipstick Jungle on HULU. OK, not too much of a caveman. All things in balance. You know...I'm sorry I didn't get the Cheesecake.... read more

Don't get a chicken sandwich here unless you like dark meat! I'd seen the yelp reviews and finally got a chance to try this place. Maybe I missed it - but I don't remember seeing anything that said the sandwich would be 100% dark meat. I only like white meat chicken and I just assumed that this is what would be in the sandwich. Just visited Napa with my wife on our honeymoon, saw this place on Yelp and had to check it out. We were in need of a quick lunch after a week of over indulgence, and decided that a chicken sandwich was just the ticket. The guys on the truck were super nice and we chatted for a few minutes while they cooked our sandwiches to order, and the end result was worth the wait. I can't say that it was the best sandwich I've ever had, but for the price and the experience...we would certainly come back. We also had a chile relleno sandwich that was messy but very good. The only downside is that there isn't really any place to sit and eat there. Maybe there will be in the summer. yelp led me here as the only 5 star place in napa with one dollar sign. Ordered the mozzarella chicken sandwich and added in spicy bacon. Bread was amazing, which is the foundation of any sandwich and is often overlooked. It was toasted a bit, possibly a french or a sourdough roll. At first glance the aioli looked to be overdone but after one bite it turned out to be the perfect amount. The chicken was moist and succulent, the bacon was thick, spicy and delicious and I appreciated how the owner didn't over cook the bacon like many establishments do. The mozzarella was plentiful and complimented the sandwich perfectly and the aioli just made sure everything went together so well. Overall one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time, I will definitely be back the next time I am in town and maybe this will give me an excuse to go Napa. read more

Man o Man. I saw this place on yelp a few months ago. As soon as I planned my recent vacation to Napa, this place was at the top of my list for food stops. I was not disappointed. My husband ordered the tri tip and I had the chicken with mozzerella. Both sandwiches were cooked just right with an inspired combination of flavors trapped inside a gorgeous slightly crunchy sandwich roll. We will definitely be back. He has moved locations on Mon/Tue and Thurs/Fridays at the JV Wine & Spirits parking lot at First St. and Silverado Trail. Finally got a chance to try Crossroad Chicken Truck at the Chef's Market on Thursday...My band was playing across the street at Downtown Joe's and we walked over to check out the food. Got the Chicken and Mozzarella sandwich and it was fantastic! Great Bread, well seasoned chicken, gooey Mozzarella and extremely fresh Tomatoes and Greens...Really really good sandwich. Wasn't overly hungry but one of the guys standing near the cart heard me wondering about the Chili and insisted I try it...I am not usually a fan of vegan food, but this is truly tasty chili. WOW!! My husband and I were wine tasting today and had lunch at this amazing little truck. The Mozzarella and Chicken sandwich was delicious, with a delightful side salad of arugula and the freshest tomato I've had in months! Very fairly priced, with friendly service. We also shared some cheesecake cups for dessert those were equally as good. The kid next to us had the chili and was happy with his choice. Can't wait to go visit them in Napa next time we are there.
