Had the pleasure of dining here and it was fantastic. Firstly, the Lychee martini is divine, with a delicious piece of fruit in it....kudos to the bartender. I had the Island shrimp and chicken satay and both very so delicious and perfect portion size. Secondly, the ambience was hip, good reggae music but not super loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Nice clean atmosphere, attentive and courteous wait staff. Highly recommend checking out this place. I recommend make reservations since they get busy. Kudos to the management, will definitely visit next time I'm in town. read more

I had high hopes for checking out this new restaurant with such fantastic ratings! The positives are that the staff was warm and welcoming and on a Friday night it had a fun vibe. I could see this as a good option to dine alone as there were a handful of people dining at the bar and seemed to be having a good time. Based on the reviews and photos on the website we ordered the Island Shrimp to start and that was my favorite part of the meal. They were sweet, sticky a tiny bit of heat and delicious. My main complaint is that everything I ate and drank was sweet. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd come back to try more of the menu since my guess is that the chef's taste leans heavily on the sweet side so I would expect that to be throughout the menu. I wasn't a fan of the cocktail list. I usually like tequila, mezcal or gin based drinks. There were no mezcal or gin based cocktails and the margarita on the menu, Cadi-Rita just didn't resemble a margarita to me (I think sweet/tart/refreshing). This one was so cloyingly sweet it overpowered any lime that may have been there. I just couldn't drink it and I'm a girl who ALWAYS finishes her drink lol! I let my husband drink it and I had water. I had the Diablo as well and it was ok -less sweet but not my favorite flavors (I ordered it since it was the only other tequila based drink). My main was the jerk chicken which had a beautiful presentation but didn't really taste like jerk seasoning at all and instead was a very sweet bbq sauce. Maybe it was since it was paired with my overly sweet cocktail but I was just overwhelmed with how sweet everything was other than my glass of water. There wasn't enough variation of flavors for me to round out the meal. I wish I had tried other menu items and am curious if I might have preferred the lamb shank but feel it's too big a risk to go back and not like the food again...and spend more $ and end up disappointed. I do wish them well since there are so few varied options on Coney Island Ave but wanted to give a heads up to people who don't prefer food and drinks on the sweet side. read more

I really loved this spot! Great ambiance, fabulous drinks and the food is flavorful. A few kinks to iron out for this new restaurant, but it's a very welcome addition to the neighborhood! I look forward to coming back and trying more! Both specialty cocktails were excellent. I want to try them all. The shrimp appetizer was our favorite order, hands down. Nice seasoning. Fresh. Generous portion. The coconut curry mussels tasted great. I loved them and ate them all up (except one that was closed). But, something didn't agree with my digestive tract later on, and i suspect or was these mussels. Maybe, maybe not. They sure tasted great, but i would personally get something else. I thought the steak was wonderful. It's served with chimichurri sauce on a beef of yellow rice and plantains. Healthy serving. We shared. I thought it was great, but mom thought it was overcooked. The peach dessert would have been fine if it were called a peach cake. That's what it was. What was described was more like grilled peaches, which this was not. It didn't taste bad At all, but we didn't want cake. All in all. Great spot. I look forward to trying their other items! read more

Transport me to the islands and douse me in Jerk Sauce. Cross Road is a unique standout Caribbean cuisine restaurant that aims to please. The cocktails make you feel like you're on vacation - love their version of the Negroni - the Island Negroni - refreshing but still Negroni- esque. The food is delicious. Starting with Shrimp appetizer which was lightly breaded and delicious spiced. I followed with the cod special which lit up my taste buds. Head over before the word gets out. read more

I LOVE CROSSROAD. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time for our anniversary back in March 2024 and have been back five or six times since then with friends and ordered in a whole bunch of other times. The food is so, so good and the drinks are substantial and yummy. My go to orders are the cod, the island shrimp ( bury me with an order of Cross Road's Island shrimp just in case I wake up underground, please), and the burger (not, like, a regular burger - it's a cool burger). My boyfriend is a more adventurous eater than I am and has gotten and loved the jerk chicken, churrasco steak, and the short rib. So ... between us that's more or less the menu. Bottom line is you can't go wrong here. I keep waiting for this place to blow up ... it deserves as much hype as Ayat down the road (another great restaurant that's gotten a lot more attention). Don't be deceived if it looks dead when you show up, it's only a matter of time before we'll be forced to make reservations to come here. read more

Yum. I learned about this new Caribbean influenced restaurant from promotional post cards that happened to be sitting around my aunt's house. I walked over, thinking I'd get some take out, but the cocktails looked so alluring that I decided to sit at the bar and eat there. I had a bar tender recommended "Cadi-Rita". (Sweet and creamy as per my request) and the BBQ jerk chicken. Yum and yum. The chicken was cooked to perfection, very smoky, covered in tangy bbq sauce. Even the rice and beans were delicious. I only wish I'd been there with more people so I could have tried more things. The bar tender was warm and friendly and fun to watch. The customers were way younger than me, but also friendly. Cross Road is Awe-some! The apps, entrees, dessert, and drinks are ON POINT. There was not a single throw-away on any plate--every morsel was scrumptious! We want to try everything on the menu, but not sure how we can go without getting the empanadas (both the beef and the potato/spinach/cheese are divine), the Island Shrimp, BBQ Jerk Chicken, Cod de Diablo, and the Paradise Peach dessert! My husband is picky about his martinis, and he said his drink was fantastic too. All that said, we can't wait to try the beef dishes and salmon on the menu--this is feeling like a weekly spot for us. i only have this restaurant 2 stars for their appetizer. That was the only thing that was truly enjoyable. The entree I had was the steak. It was overly done and when I told the manager when he came around asking how our food was he simply responded "ok". This spot is just what I had been looking for as far as ambience. It's nice, open, warm, fancy with table cloths, and clean. The food is beautifully plated, however, lacking in seasoning when it comes to the Cod De Ablo, lamb shank, and jerk pork. Music is mostly Trini, so I expected a punch of flavor in the food. But, seasoning was missing herbs, garlic, allspice, cilantro which were staples in these dishes. Salt as well, but we should all eat less salt. Appetizers for the hit for me. I will return in the future. But I need a dose of Indian food my next night out first to get my flavor fix. When Cross Road turns their flavor up up, I'll turn up my visits. read more

Went and had dinner Friday night. The service was great and the food was truly delicious. I ordered the grilled salmon and had the mussels for an appetizer. The salmon was grilled perfectly and the mashed potatoes were prepared well. The bread that came with the mussels was outstanding. Unfortunately, I was unable to try dessert.....next time though! I was visiting a friend in BK when we stumbled upon this place, and I'm happy we did, first off I need to applaud the chef for the quality of the food they served us, we tried the short ribs and coconut curry mussels and it was absolutely amazing, I was in a bit of denial because I was at a restaurant I've never heard of before and they did not disappoint, I would recommend it's a must try item on the menu, we also ended up having a few cocktails which also was paired very well with the food we had,I asked the server what they recommended to be paired with our dishes and they did a fantastic job, overall the bar and kitchen was outstanding. The ambiance of the restaurant wasn't too loud or overwhelming as much places are these days hopefully that doesn't change. read more

People, I hope you are planning a trip to Cross Roads! This Caribbean bistro is a new star in the Ditmas Park post Covid restaurant scene , which is need of some rejuvenation. I remember being plunked down at the Farm's bar in the twenty tens waiting an hour for a table. That was a very innovative kitchen (perhaps a bit too frou-frou at times), but I promise you Cross Roads combines the art of vertical plating, along with a sumptuous down home palate, without enough of a wait time, but I predict that will change. I will admit we have only been there once, but I look forward to our next meal. I predict it will be hard not to order the jerk chicken again; smothered in fresh peppers, then sumptuously citrus plantains on a bed of rice and beans richness. The smoke in this dish is astoundingly, deliciously resonant (you decide if it's backyard southlands or West Indian Parade hot table). I usually prefer not to ply service about BBQ Jerk Chickentrade secrets, but I could not resist and enquired if there was a smoker. The sound track is up tempo Carib pop playing a bit on the loud side, so the response about the smoker was politely camouflaged . read more

As much as I mourn the loss of Plant Love House, I really like this place. The food is fantastic, the drinks are good, and the staff are nice. A bit on the pricey side so I can't exactly go there whenever I want, but if you can afford it you should check it out. read more
