Cross Road - Lychee Martini. So good! - Caribbean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Place looks great, and service was very personable, they have a decent special of a drink + app for a set price, and the empanada and shrimp were good, drinks were also pretty good, where things fell apart was the main that we got curry chicken, and received either very bony parts or very dry pieces. Adding to this the very long time has left us feeling meh... read more

This place is so cutesy definitely recommend this place everything was a 10/10 Plus drinks were so cute and they were so delicious

Thoroughly enjoyed this new neighborhood gem. Spontaneously went on a Saturday at 4:30. I'm glad I checked it out now as this will certainly become a "go to" place. The service was lovely and we had a chance to meet the owner Dave (who intentionally introduced himself to share forcing plans... Like brunch!). I truly want this place to succeed. Our table enjoyed our respective cocktails (I had the lychee martini) and meals (BBQ jerk chicken - yes please!). Satisfying portions, delicious options, and an all around good time. Thank you Cross Road! read more

The place is very pretty & definitely date night worthy . We walked in without reservations and was easily accommodated. The restaurant is fairly new, the ambiance was dimly lit and a clean modern finish . The food took a while to come but that just meant that everything is made to order , but the food could definitely use a little more seasoning though. (I can back for a 2nd try) I also ordered dessert but didn't enjoy it , very dry . But dont we all love lychee martinis ? The bartender makes a great one and so we had a few and enjoyed our meals & the best part ? We didn't wake up with headaches the next morning (even though they consider titos premium vodka) Next time I'll go hungry so I can order more lol read more

A great addition to the neighborhood, upscale, modern vibe. Started at the bar for a drink before moving over to a table, the bartender Alex was very knowledgeable, I had a lychee martini which was strong, very good and fragrant. Made with lychee liquor as opposed to lychee juice. All the cocktail looked good. The island shrimp appetizer was a great start, similar to a bang bang shrimp- crispy & spicy. The coconut curry mussels were amazing, the sauce was delicious, we requested more bread to dip with! For dinner I had the braised short rib, it was ok, the mashed potatoes with the sauce from the short rib was good. My sister had the skirt steak which was very good, cooked 1 way, the steak was very tender and tasty. I would recommend the steak over the short rib. We also tried the bbq jerk chicken which was our favorite dish, large portion, perfect amount of spice. The bbq sauce elevated the flavor and differentiated this dish from traditional jerk chicken. Overall a great experience, no reservations needed. read more

This restaurant has a nice vibe it's a small chill spot for a low key date. The service is great the staff was great came to check on me to see if anything was needed. I order the lamb shank comes with rice and peas. The lamb was so tender it was falling off the bone. The plate was just enough for 1 person you wouldn't be able to share or bring any leftovers home. It was the perfect amount for 1 person. I started off with island shrimps for appetizer that was delicious they give you about 8-10 big shrimps. The empanadas was delicious with the sauce. The drinks was good and strong try the rum punch comes in a cool tiki cup that's lights up!!!!! read more

I decided to give this place a few tries before a review. Having visited exactly six times now, I'm prepared. Pros: Cute and clean establishment, including the bathrooms; well executed cocktails; GREAT happy hour; and very friendly clientele. Cons: No-one here has personality; service is efficient but perfunctory; food, while presented well, does not bowl you over; and lack of understanding regarding what an authentic Caribbean welcoming vibe should be. I want them to make, but it's almost like no-one working there wants them to make it. I know the service industry is not what it once was, but the fact that I've been there six times, and I know not one person's name, without looking at my check, is indicative of a "I'm not getting to know you" vibe. I've brought several people here, and they, too, were not impressed. I've never let on to my disappointment, because it's near my home, and I'd like to have another place to gather when friends visit my nabe. I wanted this to be a new fave, but... I'll go back for brunch, which I've yet to try, and I'm hoping it will be a lively affair. Recommendations: Hire people who at least appear to like the clientele; braise/sauce the lamb shank more to mitigate gaminess; get rid of batter on wings (just takes away from the fleshiness of the meat and clashes with the sauces); keep the salmon (yum!); push the curry mussels (yum!); jazz up the pasta; and dim the lights! I have more, but we'll leave it there. read more

I was told of this place from a fellow yelper since I live relatively nearby. The day I visited, I got off the b68 and decided to grab a quick bite at the restaurant. Vibes are definitely for a night out with friends, family and dates. It is lounge like with blue/purple lights and sleek furniture. The music wasn't too loud. Despite the lights and the menu being relatively short, I would not call this a lounge especially compared to others in the general area. As this was a cute bite, I only had the braised beef short rib empanadas and a glass of white wine. I accessed the menu through the QR code on the table. The empanadas were freshly made and the mixture of the cheese had a nice tang and pull while the beef was juicy and flavorful. I liked it so much I order another pair to go to share with a friend. You can definitely see the Caribbean/South America influences in the menu. The drinks looked interesting as well. This place is definitely worth a visit especially for trying something new for a night out read more

Brand new restaurant on cortelyou and coney island avenue. We ordered the Millionaire, flamingo, and the La Bamba all delicious! We ordered the empanadas which were beef fried perfectly on the outside and so moist on the inside. The food and atmosphere here are great. We had the island shrimp and crab cake appetizers, both of which we were delicious. The island passion shank was incredible, the lamb falling off the bone. Very good. We topped off with the paradise peach and coconut brule, which were fantastic. There was a mandatory 20% added for the two of us, which was unexpected and annoying. Otherwise, everything was really really good. read more

Had dinner here today for the first time and I have mixed feelings. I opted for the Restaurant Week menu which included an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. For the appetizer I had the birria empanadas and those very quite tasty. The birria filling was tender and flavorful and the sauce on the empanadas had a nice hint of spice. For the entree I had the grilled salmon with the mashed potatoes and charred broccolini. This entree fell short for me. The salmon was prepared fine but the honey Siracha sauce was nothing noteworthy. The charred broccolini were sadly quite unpleasant and just over cooked/dried out. It would have been better for the dish if the broccolini was blanched or steamer to add some brightness/lightness to the dish. For dessert I selected the Chocolate Delight. This was dessert was just fine. The menu says the "decadent chocolate cake" is supposed to be served warm but mine was cold by the time it arrive at the table and the actually cake was pretty basic/lacking any real decadence. The service was also not great. My friend and I sat at the table for a solid 15 minutes before we were able to get anyone's attention to take our order. And throughout the meal the service we were provided did not really pickup. By the end, my friend found the server and asked for a check because we just didn't want to sit around waiting. The other part that's is not ideal in all of this is that there's an automatic 20% gratuity charge. read more

Went on a Friday night with some high expectations and was not disappointed. Dulce was a great server providing helpful and delicious recommendations. The cocktail drinks are on point. Julia is a good mixologist and the food is well prepared. Very cozy ambience too.

How have I never been here. Best food I've had in a neighborhood I've lived in for 20 years. Their mussels are the best mussels I may have ever had. So good I had to take the remaining broth with me.. Will add noodles to it tomorrow and savor this Genius broth all over again. My new fave spot. So glad I stumbled upon it. read more

went here last night with a friend for dinner and wow everything was amazing. We thought it was more Jamaican food but it was like Latin/Jamaican fusion which was different and the flavors were on point. The jerk chicken was great but my fave was the cod in roasted red pepper sauce and the coconut curry mussels. I loved la Bomba drink. Julio was our server and he provided a wonderful service making great suggestions and constantly checking up on us! This place is perfect for a date night cause the ambiance is so beautiful. it doesn't belong on coney Island Ave but it's a gem for us. read more

I noticed Brunch spots are few in the area. Especially in a pinch. Nice to find this space had a prix fixe menu on hand. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon we tried it out. Very warm environment, the lighting is very inviting on such a cloudy day. The brunch prix fixe is 30$ for 1 drink, 1 appetizer, 1 main & dessert. You also have the choice of going bottomless! Of course, bottomless brunches means different things to different restaurants. for this lovely establishment: Table Seating is 90 minutes. Entree Purchase Required. Entire table must participate. Last seating 2:30pm. Keep in mind brunch is from 11:00-3:00. We started with Bellinis ( mango and guava or peach) served in your own possibly 16 ounce carafe. Which is a cute idea and a way to monitor your beverage service . The Bellini's weren't too sweet (for me) the crisp of champagne worked well with our appetizers. The choices are veg or beef empanadas. Although our table had both, I can only vouch for the veg. Which was served with a drizzle of what seemed like an aioli sauce. They looked crunchy, but some were a little chewy and yet still cheesy insid. An birria sauce on the side for the beef. Finally our entree's were shrimp and grits , chicken and waffles. There's also a Fried Chicken Buttermilk Biscuits on the menu. Why 4 stars for such a lovely experience with my family? I saw no dessert on the prix fixe menu. ‍ I was full but... give me a chance to say no. Don't assume I don't want dessert Other than that, it's a nice to bring a family. There's smaller tables for couples or some alone time. I plan to check the lunch and dinner menus next. Well done Cross Roads. See you soon read more

Run, don't walk to Cross Road! Yes, it's that good. I've had the spot bookmarked for a while as I'm always eager to try new local spots. Yes, Latin and particularly Caribbean restaurants in Ditmas Park, Flatbush and the surrounding areas are plenty, but they don't compare to what Cross Road brings. The ambiance is elegant, the cuisine is elevated, and the service is great. I wish I would have taken pictures of our plates because they were so beautiful. Like eating at a 5 star establishment. All of the dishes we ordered did not disappoint. We had chicken skewers, crab cakes, jerk pork, cod and rice and peas. The ginger cocktail was incredible. I honestly can't wait to return. And so long as the quality of the food and service remains the same, I'll be back again and again! read more

Drinks are good and made well The space and particularly the bar looks great I must say Service is nice and food came out pretty quick but there weren't much folks in there However the food itself is where I have to say it's lacking. I really hoped it would be better but it was not. read more

We visited today for the first time and probably not the last. The food and wine were very tasty, but the service could have been quicker. It took a long time to get beer and a glass of wine. We wanted to order meat empanadas, but unfortunately, they were out of it (on a Friday night). We ended up getting the chicken satay with a side of coconut rice for an extra charge and a double cross burger. Everything was delicious, but I wish I was warned the rice will cost me an additional $8. Overall, it was a good experience, and we want to try more items from their menu. It is clear they are starting up and need some more time to get on rolling. read more

My husband and I had dinner here on Wednesday evening. He was running late so I had a seat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered a delicious martini and browsed the menu. It wasn't too crowded but we decided to eat dinner at the bar. Everything we got was delicious. We started with the veggie empanadas. I go the salmon and my husband got the jerk chicken.
