Thoroughly enjoyed this new neighborhood gem. Spontaneously went on a Saturday at 4:30. I'm glad I checked it out now as this will certainly become a "go to" place. The service was lovely and we had a chance to meet the owner Dave (who intentionally introduced himself to share forcing plans... Like brunch!). I truly want this place to succeed. The place is very pretty & definitely date night worthy . We walked in without reservations and was easily accommodated. The restaurant is fairly new, the ambiance was dimly lit and a clean modern finish . The food took a while to come but that just meant that everything is made to order , but the food could definitely use a little more seasoning though. (I can back for a 2nd try) I also ordered dessert but didn't enjoy it , very dry . But dont we all love lychee martinis ? The bartender makes a great one and so we had a few and enjoyed our meals & the best part ? A great addition to the neighborhood, upscale, modern vibe. Started at the bar for a drink before moving over to a table, the bartender Alex was very knowledgeable, I had a lychee martini which was strong, very good and fragrant. Made with lychee liquor as opposed to lychee juice. All the cocktail looked good. The island shrimp appetizer was a great start, similar to a bang bang shrimp- crispy & spicy. The coconut curry mussels were amazing, the sauce was delicious, we requested more bread to dip with! For dinner I had the braised short rib, it was ok, the mashed potatoes with the sauce from the short rib was good. My sister had the skirt steak which was very good, cooked 1 way, the steak was very tender and tasty. I would recommend the steak over the short rib. We also tried the bbq jerk chicken which was our favorite dish, large portion, perfect amount of spice. The bbq sauce elevated the flavor and differentiated this dish from traditional jerk chicken. Had dinner here today for the first time and I have mixed feelings. I opted for the Restaurant Week menu which included an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. For the appetizer I had the birria empanadas and those very quite tasty. The birria filling was tender and flavorful and the sauce on the empanadas had a nice hint of spice. For the entree I had the grilled salmon with the mashed potatoes and charred broccolini. This entree fell short for me. The salmon was prepared fine but the honey Siracha sauce was nothing noteworthy. The charred broccolini were sadly quite unpleasant and just over cooked/dried out. It would have been better for the dish if the broccolini was blanched or steamer to add some brightness/lightness to the dish. For dessert I selected the Chocolate Delight. This was dessert was just fine. The menu says the "decadent chocolate cake" is supposed to be served warm but mine was cold by the time it arrive at the table and the actually cake was pretty basic/lacking any real decadence. The service was also not great. My friend and I sat at the table for a solid 15 minutes before we were able to get anyone's attention to take our order. And throughout the meal the service we were provided did not really pickup. By the end, my friend found the server and asked for a check because we just didn't want to sit around waiting. The other part that's is not ideal in all of this is that there's an automatic 20% gratuity charge. read more

I was told of this place from a fellow yelper since I live relatively nearby. The day I visited, I got off the b68 and decided to grab a quick bite at the restaurant. Vibes are definitely for a night out with friends, family and dates. It is lounge like with blue/purple lights and sleek furniture. The music wasn't too loud. Despite the lights and the menu being relatively short, I would not call this a lounge especially compared to others in the general area. As this was a cute bite, I only had the braised beef short rib empanadas and a glass of white wine. I accessed the menu through the QR code on the table. The empanadas were freshly made and the mixture of the cheese had a nice tang and pull while the beef was juicy and flavorful. I liked it so much I order another pair to go to share with a friend. You can definitely see the Caribbean/South America influences in the menu. The drinks looked interesting as well. I noticed Brunch spots are few in the area. Especially in a pinch. Nice to find this space had a prix fixe menu on hand. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon we tried it out. Very warm environment, the lighting is very inviting on such a cloudy day. The brunch prix fixe is 30$ for 1 drink, 1 appetizer, 1 main & dessert. You also have the choice of going bottomless! Of course, bottomless brunches means different things to different restaurants. for this lovely establishment: Table Seating is 90 minutes. Entree Purchase Required. Entire table must participate. Last seating 2:30pm. Keep in mind brunch is from 11:00-3:00. We started with Bellinis ( mango and guava or peach) served in your own possibly 16 ounce carafe. Which is a cute idea and a way to monitor your beverage service . The Bellini's weren't too sweet (for me) the crisp of champagne worked well with our appetizers. The choices are veg or beef empanadas. Although our table had both, I can only vouch for the veg. Which was served with a drizzle of what seemed like an aioli sauce. They looked crunchy, but some were a little chewy and yet still cheesy insid. An birria sauce on the side for the beef. Finally our entree's were shrimp and grits , chicken and waffles. There's also a Fried Chicken Buttermilk Biscuits on the menu. Why 4 stars for such a lovely experience with my family? We thought it was more Jamaican food but it was like Latin/Jamaican fusion which was different and the flavors were on point. Run, don't walk to Cross Road! Yes, it's that good. I've had the spot bookmarked for a while as I'm always eager to try new local spots. Yes, Latin and particularly Caribbean restaurants in Ditmas Park, Flatbush and the surrounding areas are plenty, but they don't compare to what Cross Road brings. The ambiance is elegant, the cuisine is elevated, and the service is great. I wish I would have taken pictures of our plates because they were so beautiful. Like eating at a 5 star establishment. All of the dishes we ordered did not disappoint. We had chicken skewers, crab cakes, jerk pork, cod and rice and peas. The ginger cocktail was incredible. I honestly can't wait to return. I order the lamb shank comes with rice and peas. The lamb was so tender it was falling off the bone. The plate was just enough for 1 person you wouldn't be able to share or bring any leftovers home. I had high hopes for checking out this new restaurant with such fantastic ratings! The positives are that the staff was warm and welcoming and on a Friday night it had a fun vibe. I could see this as a good option to dine alone as there were a handful of people dining at the bar and seemed to be having a good time. Based on the reviews and photos on the website we ordered the Island Shrimp to start and that was my favorite part of the meal. They were sweet, sticky a tiny bit of heat and delicious. My main complaint is that everything I ate and drank was sweet. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd come back to try more of the menu since my guess is that the chef's taste leans heavily on the sweet side so I would expect that to be throughout the menu. I wasn't a fan of the cocktail list. I usually like tequila, mezcal or gin based drinks. There were no mezcal or gin based cocktails and the margarita on the menu, Cadi-Rita just didn't resemble a margarita to me (I think sweet/tart/refreshing). This one was so cloyingly sweet it overpowered any lime that may have been there. I just couldn't drink it and I'm a girl who ALWAYS finishes her drink lol! I let my husband drink it and I had water. I had the Diablo as well and it was ok -less sweet but not my favorite flavors (I ordered it since it was the only other tequila based drink). My main was the jerk chicken which had a beautiful presentation but didn't really taste like jerk seasoning at all and instead was a very sweet bbq sauce. Maybe it was since it was paired with my overly sweet cocktail but I was just overwhelmed with how sweet everything was other than my glass of water. There wasn't enough variation of flavors for me to round out the meal. I wish I had tried other menu items and am curious if I might have preferred the lamb shank but feel it's too big a risk to go back and not like the food again...and spend more $ and end up disappointed. I do wish them well since there are so few varied options on Coney Island Ave but wanted to give a heads up to people who don't prefer food and drinks on the sweet side. read more

I had the Island shrimp and chicken satay and both very so delicious and perfect portion size. Secondly, the ambience was hip, good reggae music but not super loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Nice clean atmosphere, attentive and courteous wait staff. Generous portion. The coconut curry mussels tasted great. I loved them and ate them all up (except one that was closed). But, something didn't agree with my digestive tract later on, and i suspect or was these mussels. Maybe, maybe not. They sure tasted great, but i would personally get something else. I thought the steak was wonderful. It's served with chimichurri sauce on a beef of yellow rice and plantains. Healthy serving. We shared. I thought it was great, but mom thought it was overcooked. The peach dessert would have been fine if it were called a peach cake. That's what it was. What was described was more like grilled peaches, which this was not.
