I ALWAYS base my reviews on price compared to to quality. If the price is low the quality can be lower and still get a good review. That being said Crew is really a bit on the high side, price wise, but the quality exceeds the price. Looking at Crew from the street, you wouldn't really think much, but once you enter the place, you'd really be surprised. A true hidden gem. (I hate that term) Aliza took care of me tonight. She was really attentive, an absolute professional. I ordered the Filet, which was absolutely amazing. Truly the second best piece of meat I've had in my life at a restaurant (the best is still reserved for Omaha Prime). (But Mine is the best). It came with veggies and truffled potatoes, which were outrageous. Granted, this was only the second best steak I've ever had, but easily the best meal. Came here for a business dinner last month. Was not too crowded and had a pleasant vibe to it. Staff were kind and attentive despite our having a larger group of 10. In addition to beer, there is a decent selection of wine, so you can choose what you feel for that day. It's a bit bright and lively for a formal dinner date but casual is what I usually prefer. About the menu: appetizers are creative but are small bites; while they are sharable not all of them are presented to make that easy, so I recommend you get your own. The brussel sprouts and ahi tuna were good. For the main I highly recommend the dry-aged steak. It can be pricey but has the best ROI because the meat is better and it comes with better veggies and mashed potatoes. I compared that to the steak frites another member had and I won't trade. Impressed by the quality of food! Came in and ordered two burgers with the truffle croquettes (awesome, 3 was perfect). Happy to see some Culinary test beers on the menu (so fun, happy to support the students!). But the Caesar side was definitely pre-mixed and either made yesterday or first thing in the morning. The spring mix however was fresh and fantastic! As we were leaving the manager and some staff were hanging out in front of the exit, so I tried to ask them to move, apparently bothering them. This place is a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley. I've passed this place a million times and never noticed it. Well to start, I had Organic Salmon Fritters. The texture was crunchy and flavorful. Great pick! For the entree I ordered the Steak and Fries. The fries reminded me of thinner cut Burger King fries which are pretty good. The steak was cooked just the way I requested, medium. The steak and fries was also a great pick. My wife had Salmon with a truffle white sauce and green beans. She is an extremely pick eater and I was so happy to see her enjoy everything on her plate. Don't let the location of this place deter you. Thrown weirdly next to a hobby shop on Rt 9 in a small parking lot, the outside of this place is very deceiving. Inside is a top notch, trendy, formalish kind of vibe with a very nice bar and wonderful atmosphere. The dim lighting in the main dining room makes it for a wonderful hang out spot. The back, very small room is a quaint little area to have a nicely dressed date in a kind of intimate setting. And the back side room is well lit and a good spot for a more comfortable attire although I wouldn't go to this place in anything less than a very nice pant. Be prepared to spend money because this place is not cheap, but let me tell you, it is well worth it. Must try their steak, (price may vary though depending on availability) and pair it with their Truffle Croquettes. Absolutely 10/10. On top of their well stocked bar, they also have specialty cocktails. Recommend highly the starburst specialty craft cocktail. Overall, it's a nice change of pace for a fun/intimate night out with amazing food, compared to all the same boring stuff on Route 9 that we've all been to a million times. My friend and I wanted a snack so we popped into Crew for appetizers. Place was almost empty at 3 pm. Server came right away and said she'd come back when we were ready. Saw the menu is different from Yelp's. Some things are five dollars more than on Yelp so check the restaurant's actual website for a more accurate menu. Waited and waited. No server so we asked someone if we could order and they went to search for her. I ordered the spinach dip for $13 (used to be $8). Don't do it. The only thing good about it was the one chunk of artichoke I had. Otherwise, it tasted burnt and microwaved. I ordered the chicken appetizer for $15 (says $10 on Yelp ... the days of $10 appetizers are apparently gone). It came with what looked like three small boneless chicken wings with a delicious dipping sauce. Not worth $15, since they were the size of fingers but I'll pay for tasty, so whatever. Got the side of truffled potato croquettes that said $2. Ordered two Caesar side salads, $3 each. The croquettes reviews said they were "ridiculously good" but I didn't taste truffle nor any other flavor (think thick French fries with no salt ... tater tots taste better, if that says anything, but we all have different palates, so maybe you'll find them "ridiculously good" as well). We each ate one and unimpressed, left the third. Glad I only spent two dollars on that and hey, I tried something new. The Caesar side salad arrived (on a plate, not in a bowl) and looked okay but tasted like vinegar, not Caesar dressing at all. Didn't complain cuz it was only $3, right? Waited for our bill. Waited and waited. Got up to pay. Again, they searched for our server. Our "snack" came to $80. I spoke to the waitress about the $30 upcharge and she told me I can't order sides separately so she ordered the small for us. SMH. Why didn't she inform us? Two horrible Caesar salads for $12 each and the bland croquettes i couldn't even find on the menu, other than as a side, but I was charged over $10 for that, somehow. The server was no help. I paid the bill and spoke to the manager about the upcharge and not being informed by the waitress that I couldn't order sides separately and she refused to comp even the salads, with an attitude, no less. The cost to resolve this and still maintain customer satisfaction would have been less than the cost of half a head of lettuce. They put greed over customer service. I begrudgingly say the chicken appetizer was good but the rest was money thrown out the window. Long story short, (PRICES ARE DIFFERENT THAN YELP MENU) very overpriced for unfulfilling food and horrible customer service. read more

I have to agree with another yelper service was Slow. During an off peak late lunch, 3 tables in the restaurant it took almost 40 minutes to get our food. My $28 butternut fusili was extremely salty, over goat cheesed. Could not taste much of anything else. My 10 year old son ordered the fillet. The fillet came pre sliced, which I thought was odd. An 8 ounce fillet is usually served whole. Once the check arrived we were surprised it was $60. We felt the waitress should have mentioned if we were interested in knowing the market price beforehand. Also, apparently at that price we still did not qualify for the bread basket. When we expressed our displeasure, all we got was a sorry. Lunch does not get bread. But at $60 for an apparent lunch entree there should have been bread. Plus, waitress never checked on us to see how we liked our meals. She came by 30 min after ordering to tell us our food was coming....10/15 min later food arrived! We originally came because we thought they had an extensive sandwich menu after looking online. And we thought we could get a quick sit down lunch. However, we did not see that reflected on the menu. We love to support local businesses, however can't justify the price of lunch to the quality and service and food received. read more

My lady and I along with another couple stopped in here for New Years Eve. We had a great time. Started off with a couple cocktails and moved on to consuming a bottle of tequila. Warmed up with the oysters and goat cheese bites. Unfortunately they were out of the scallop special AND the filet for our main courses but the place was poppin so no worries. Ended up getting the dry aged ribeye and it was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. I was really impressed with the service. As I mentioned the place was packed and it was NYE and we had our waitress running back and forth to the bar 12-15 times during dinner. She did it with a smile on her face the whole time. I have come to Crew for dinner every time I have visited the area since my daughter applied to CIA. As the menu changes frequently, I have ordered vastly different selections every single time. Pastas, steaks, seafood: ALL have been delicious! The menu has just changed again, and it took me forever to chose my entree tonight! Usually, the sides help me eliminate some options- not the case tonight! I finally decided on the Peanut stir-fry, something I normally wouldn't order out because I stir-fry at home regularly.... But this was fantastic! I tried to deconstruct the layers of flavors and spices, but it had all become a symphony for my taste buds! The chicken satay appetizer was also delicious, and the dipping sauce was wonderfully different... a much smoother texture and presentation than I've ever had before. My one daughter had the shrimp and pasta, which she thought was perfectly cooked, and thought the flavors paired perfectly. My older daughter got the Green Goddess salad: beautiful presentation, copious amounts of the freshest greens and delicious additions. Many thanks to Jocelyn, who provided 5star service!! She helped us with the difficult decision-making process of ordering (I tell you, everything sounded great on the menu tonight!!) It was placed directly behind the hostess stand.I had a few butts hitting the back of my chair and my friends who were across from me were at eye level with butts all night. I think if any restaurant or hotel nearby needs staff- go to Crew and figure out why they are over staffed. 4 hostesses on a Friday night? There were too many of them at the hostess stand. It seemed like it was them against the world. Our drinks were not amazing but whatever- the food was ok- everything just took a long time. The chef was hanging out in the dining room while his staff struggled to turn out 5 plates. The grill guy big shout out to his style. I liked it. That's why you get 1 star. I was in poughkeepsie and was recommended Crew so I decided to try it out. I won't lie the reviews being so mixed gave me pause. There is a sign on the first door saying they accept everyone in their bar/restaurant regardless of race, gender etc. there are more "political" signs towards the second door but they are out of direct eyeline. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by the hostess and sat in the chefs corner which is cool it's a direct view into the kitchen. I did order a drink special that was a bit too sweet for my taste personally but still good. I got the meat and cheese board which was very good as well and large enough to be shared. Luckily I did know what everything on the board was because I eat charcuterie a lot but I just wish I got an explanation what everything was and where it was from since it's sourced locally. I had the pasta special with hand made pappardelle pasta and it was the best handmade pasta I've had in awhile. All of the flavors between the pasta instead the white wine garlic sauce the spicy sausage and the peppers brought this dish together for a perfect bite. The dish was a special but they should absolutely add it to their regular menu. Oh also OH MY GOODNESS the apple butter. The Apple butter is everything. It comes with the bread and if I didn't have a flight I wouldve bought a big jar of it. That might be the best butter I've ever had in my life no exaggeration. Don't waste your time going here! The food is okay and overpriced. People crowd in and wait by the door while you try to eat your dinner and watch you eat -- hoping you hurry up so they can get a table. The wait staff does nothing to control the crowd. You are rushed through an overpriced meal so they can have the table for the next diner. Not at all worth it. When I complained to management about the issue first and sent an email to the General Manager, to avoid a negative review on-line, I didn't receive a response. Not sure what they are selling in there but not worth it if you are looking for an enjoyable evening out with friends. Consider yourself warned. read more

wow, what an unexpected treat, in the future we will drive out of our way going north just to savor the gourmet meals at this restaurant. I had the pastured raised local chicken breast, beautiful finish on the seared skin, tender, tasty especially with the brown sugar tomato jam. the jam was so good I decided to duplicate it at home but got discouraged when I read that it would take 2 hours. Next time I am going to sit at the bar in front of the open kitchen so I can figure out how they sear the chicken. One clue is, I was warned by the waiter that it would take 1/2 hour to prepare.
