i'm a regular at this establishment. food is basic diner fare with a few specialties. portions are typically generous; i usually get more than i can eat in one sitting. service can be a bit spotty, especially during busy hours (pre-noon) and due to fairly high turnover of staff. it is a friendly unpretentious place. give them a try sometime. and be sure to check out the food related tag display. read more

FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!! They do not abide by their menu prices. We were charged at least 10% over prices on the menu. $3.79 for an extra egg with my meal. Outrageous. The food was overpriced at menu prices, but insane at their "new" prices. Unbelievable. Food was meh. Service was meh. Tables were soooooo small. Should've abided by the reviews and steered clear. I grew up in Kennett and had many meals with previous owners. My favorite was always breakfast. So when I came back to town with my wife from Georgia, she wanted to experience my hometown. Despite a different owner the food took me right back to Jacks Dinner. The wife actually tried scrapple for the first time, and said it was ok. For me the chipped beef and home fries - right on the money. The staff - awesome. Checked on us, quick on refills and additional stories from the past. read more

The customer service in this establishment was awful! We came in with a large party and the menu said very clearly that parties above 6 automatically get a tip included in the bill. We were more than willing to give a generous tip since we arrived with no reservation or warning. The tip wasn't clear on the bill, but once again, it was written very clearly on the menu that a charge would be automatically added. This confusion could have been cleared up very civilly once we were told there was no tip added from us. Instead, we were chased to our cars, screamed at, cursed at, and felt very threatened. We processed to give a nearly 30% tip and apologized many many times, we always tip. Even after that, we were harassed inside of the restaurant while giving the tip, and screamed at by the manager. Very unprofessional, disgusting behavior. Do not eat here!!! Also, 4 out of our 9 orders were incorrect and there were no complaints from us! read more

I use Door Dash to order from this breakfast gem! The Monster Medley hoagie has all the best foods of breakfast overflowing a yummy roll. The scrapple and bacon are perfectly cooked and the home fries are seasoned perfectly. I haven't been able to dine in the restaurant yet, but it is a goal. Highly recommend the food for a comforting breakfast. They serve lunch also. read more

Good little greasy Diner cheesesteak. Good extras; cheese, mushrooms and fried onions. The roll had a little toast on it. What I didn't like was the $9.49. I'm a fan. I like this place it cozy and the service is good. Serves its purpose for a solid breakfast. Came here with kids a few weeks back and my daughter was quick to point out that it was "not beautiful", which was great and also kinda true. But! This establishment has good food but the waitress who seems like she's been there the longest had the worst attitude. The silverware and dishes were filthy. They don't have any sign stating they charge extra for cards but applied an almost $2 fee. When I asked where the fee came from the waitress got an attitude. Sweet and cute local diner. We were in the area for the weekend and ate breakfast here two days in a row. The menu is straightforward not fancy breakfast and lunch. Service is fast and friendly, and the clientele is friendly locals. There is a retro counter with stools, and a separate dining room with tables. We sat in the dining room. Breakfast prices are pretty reasonable for this affluent area, and our eggs, turkey sausage and rye toast were done perfectly. The coffee was very good too, and our server was quick to refill our cups. You gotta love a good diner and this is a good diner. read more

Its breakfast so its kinds tough to screw up. These guys didnt. Good coffee. Good service and good food. A touch pricey if you get one of the specialties. I got the sausage gravy and biscuits. I had a cheese omelet here for breakfast a few weeks ago. Well cooked egg with kinda cheapish cheese. Home fries were very good toast was fine, coffee was weak but I like strong coffee... Was a little apprehensive the first time because of the shape of the building. This is a greasy-spoon diner, if you're looking for fine dining, keep driving. The waitstaff is exceptional, friendly and efficient. So far we have had Creamed Chipped Beef, pancakes and French toast. The French toast was a bit soft and plain, the pancakes are huge and fluffy. The sausage and scrapple are locally sourced and the sausage is incredible! For the two of us our bill has been about 26 dollars. The only reason I put one star is because there was no option for zero. For starters the table was already dirty and the waitress was trying to put placemats on top of the mess. The coffee my dad ordered was not hot only cool. Once we got our food our order was messed up, on top of the horrendous wait. I asked for a bacon and cheese omelette and got mushrooms instead. I told the waitress that my order was wrong and she said sorry and got me a new order, and was wrong again. That was twice in a row and about that time I had enough. On top of that my father and I asked for white toast and instead got rye and wheat toast. Seems like this place could f*** up a flat piece of metal if you ask me. It's a shame we didn't get to eat here. We went there on a Wednesday around 9:20am with the kids . There was a table of 4, a table of one and a man sitting at the breakfast bar. The server seemed pleasant enough, and stopped by several times to tell us she'd take our order. After 15 minutes and the fourth time she said she'd be back, I had had enough and decided to leave. As we were exiting the server hollered at us "you know I'm the only one here!" I'm sorry that she couldn't handle 6 people and take our order. They're not ready yet!!! The Creekside Diner re-opened after the fire and some re-modeling and today was Day 2. New paint, new granite countertop and a new (to the diner, not EVERYWHERE else) computer system to put in orders. We waited 45 minutes for our order while we sat at the counter and watched the ONE cook (I will not call him a chef) who was at the grill when we arrived have to sit down while another griller took over. Had they BOTH been working, people may not have left, been forced to wait an untenable amount of time for their food, or ended up ending eating exasperated - like we did. That's no way to enjoy your meal. Except for one or two waitresses, the new computer system appeared painful to use for the others'. Why do I know this? Because we had 45 minutes to wait and watch the goings-on here. Most waitresses did not crack a smile and the poor young man in the kitchen was ostracized right and left by Mr. Griller. Really? We can see right into your kitchen. No wonder no one who works there could muster a smile on a Sunday morning. It is, after all, almost lunchtime now. Had a late breakfast on this past Sunday. I asked for fried eggs over hard. I specifically said " nothing runny!!" I only got to one bite before noticing a lot of runny egg. I would have had the waitress send them back but she never returned to see how our food was. I had to track her down to ask for some syrup for my pancakes. She was around the corner talking to another waitress about school and on her phone. Next, I ran out of coffee. Had the waitress stopped by, I would have asked for a refill. It didn't happen. This is one of the only diners around kennett, and after 3 years in the town, my friends and I decided to try it out. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the inside has so much character. The staff could be a little more nice, but damn the SOS was so good and the portions were HUGE! Looking for a little place in the Westchester area we went south on Route one and found the Creekside diner. Best breakfast ever. Best scrapple ever just like home. Everyone should come to the Creekside diner at least once in their life to experience the wonderfulness of the food, service, coffee spectacular coffee. Portions were ok. Asked for skim milk and they did not have it. Asked for egg whites and they said they couldn't. Food was good though.

It's ALL different. We've eaten here for more than a year some two or three times a month. Excellent diner breakfast! Home fries with crisp edges and soft centers, eggs exactly as requested, and biscuits like grandma never quite got this good! However, the last two times we went... about three weeks apart...a disaster! Everything swimming in cheap off-flavored oil, old potatoes, and eggs dead-on-arrival. Clearly they lost their very good cook and hired someone who only completed two lessons in how-to-cook. Better food in very bad Air Force mess halls.
