Stopped here on a random Wednesday overcast February since I was in the area. Took a little while for anyone to notice me. What struck me immediately was the music playing in the bar. Zappa, C.W.Stoneking, you don't hear this music anywhere around here. Started with an old fashioned which feature a "well bourbon" for happy hour. Don't recommend. Ordered two of the small plates and the highlight was the Thai shrimp. They were huge (12s?) and just fried crispy enough. The chicken wings got the job done. Came with 9, but my GLP drugs only tolerated 6. Overall I would try again, but with Bulleit Rye and just the shrimp. Or the fish and chips. read more

We were in town for my cousin's wedding and staying nearby. We were looking for a place to eat that had a variety of items, even for vegetarians and we came across Letty's. We were in a hurry because we had to get ready for an event, but as soon as we walked in we were seated right away. The first thing I saw when I looked at the menu, was a Carajillo (Which I was pleasantly surprised that they had it on the menu. It's one of my favorite drinks, especially when I need a caffeine boost and at that time I definitely did!!) I wasn't planning on drinking alcohol, but it was so perfect that I ended up having 2 of them!! Lol For food, I ordered the smash burger and got fries instead of the salad. It was pretty yummy! My cousin's wife ordered the Baba Ganoush and it was delicious!! I was pretty impressed because we had no expectations! read more

Went for drinks and appetizers late Saturday afternoon. Sat at a high top in the bar area. I didn't expect an extensive wine list in an Irish pub but the house Chardonnay was absolutely fine. We also had one dirty martini and two other cocktails at our table and everyone enjoyed their drinks. The charcuterie board was a nice assortment and came out with slices of toasted bread that was probably sourdough and quite good. The wings were good and came out well done and with the sauces on the side as requested. Very tasty. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive as was the food runner. My friend commented that it reminded her very much of the pubs she'd been in when she visited Ireland. I don't think you could give a bigger compliment to an Irish pub! read more

Decent service as far as they were so pleasant but not supper attentive for things like water refills. Cute space and great for families. Food was a hit for the whole family including vanilla ice cream that they so graciously accommodated with a side of chocolate sauce. My tiramisu was forgotten, but, worth the wait when we did get their attention. We will be back for another visit next time! read more

We had dinner here this week. First time. Letty's is in a historic building oozing with charm and atmosphere. Tastefully decorated for the season. We sat in the dining room but there is also bar seating. We shared 2 apps, 1 entree, and 1 dessert, as well as each getting a cocktail. The cocktails were well-made except served with too much ice. I don't know why bars ruin great drinks that way. We both scooped out our ice and put it in one of our water glasses and were fine after that. For apps, we had the mushroom arincini and the meatballs. Both were very good. The arincini was hot, crispy on the outside, and creamy inside. Very flavorful. The meatballs were dense and delicious, served with a dollop of ricotta, and accompanied by a couple of slices of toasted Italian bread. The sauce has just a bit of a kick to it and it all works perfectly together. For our entree, we got the cavatelli with the mushroom ragu, ricotta, and herb oil. OMG this was the standout dish of the meal. These mushrooms were incredibly fresh. I know we were in the mushroom capital but still. We could have easily shoveled another plate of this into our mouths and still wanted more. If you go, get this along with anything else you order. Our dessert was the chocolate mousse cake. Not quite what we expected, it was served in a ramekin. There was chocolate cake in the center which was warm and surrounded by the mousse. It was creamy and delicious. A very good experience overall. They also have live music in the bar which started toward the end of our meal and was quiet enough in the dining room to enjoy it without it drowning out conversation. I'm not sure how it was if you were seated in the bar area. We would definitely come here again the next time we're in the area. read more

My family and I ate here for lunch this weekend. We were seated and after about 15 minutes of waiting, we still had not been greeted by a server. The server tending to the other patrons totally ignored us. I returned to the host stand to ask when we would be served and was told that our assigned server would not actually be our server and that the host could take our order. I ended up having to leave and eat my food to go later due to the wait, however, I later learned that our bill came to $73, not including tip. I'm not sure if the prices on the menu were incorrect or we were charged wrong but $73 for a lunch for three people seems extremely steep. We ordered 2 sodas, a cup of soup, a kids cheeseburger, and 2 sandwiches. We expected closer to $50 for a mediocre lunch that I wasn't even able to enjoy with my family. We will not be returning. read more

The poached pear salad was amazing! My friend and I shared it, and we just could not get over all the different great flavors in it between the spinach and arugula, the fried goat cheese, candied pecans, apple cider vinegar, poached pear, radishes, and a side of grilled chicken. Stopped here with a friend for a late lunch this weekend. We arrived around 3:30pm and were the only patrons in the restaurant. They had a good selection of beverages, my friend got some bourbon and I tried a local lager. We each opted for a burger. She opted for a smash burger with bacon, and I opted for the Kennett Square burger. The onion jam on my burger was super yummy, and my burger was juicy, but it needed salt and there were no condiments on any of the tables. It was also a bit pricy at $22 for a mushroom Swiss burger. My friend also enjoyed her burger, but it was pricy at $20 for a cheeseburger with sliced onions. The service was surprisingly slow for an empty restaurant (the waiter and bartender were talking with a friend at the bar). Overall it was a good lunch, but I'm not sure I'd come back the next time I'm in the area. read more

I really enjoyed eating outdoors at Letty's Tavern. If you are inside then you have a choice of live music on the first floor, mostly modern Nashville style, or a more quiet second floor indoors. However, I chose to be outside twice which is on a terrace overlooking State Street. The food includes both bar standards and creative ideas including several non-meat choices. The bus boy is incredibly hilarious, speaking in different accents and who otherwise appreciates humor. I ordered mushroom soup, mushroom pizza, pear salad, and a few other non-meat dishes and they were all excellent with fresh ingredients and well -chosen spices. I liked it enough to return two weekends in a row. read more

What a range of (food) emotions at this local KS corner tavern. Mushroom soup: unless you like mushroom consume, don't bother, not worth it. A very thin broth-based soup with 5 duty mushrooms floating about. $9 for a bowl of less than flavorful broth, I think not. 2 stars Broccolini Caesar, is not really a salad, albeit it's located under soup and salads on the menu. It was more of a pile of dip on the plate. The taste was somewhat bitter and something I took 5 minutes to get used to. After that I would say it wasn't bad...actually that's what I said at the table. Interesting creation but NOT a do-over for me. 3 stars Mushroom Pizza was outrageous. Best crust this side of Brooklyn. AND it remained crisp throughout. I will go back and sit at the bar with a couple of beers and a pizza. Now that's a reason to return. 5 stars. Service was good, atmosphere lively and the beers were cold. Get a pizza! read more

On a short visit to the area, we stopped in during happy hour and sat at the bar. We enjoyed the bar crowd and conversations with the bartenders. The cocktails look fantastic but on this trip we opted for craft beer. They had some great craft selections but priced higher. Thankfully, happy hour helped us out. We ordered the olives to snack on and then decided on the pepperoni pizza. Delicious! The crust was crunchy, which we loved, and the edge was perfect. We ate the entire pizza. It hit the spot. Best food and cocktails in town. The staff is fantastic-great people who you would actually want to spend time with beyond just a night out. The bar is cozy, welcoming and has a great English pub vibe but if you went something more formal, the dining room is really nice as well. I love that the full menu is available in both spaces because everything is delicious. Letty's Tavern is not your typical Tavern. It is definitely more upscale in terms of food, décor, and service. There is a dining room, bar area, and even a bottle shop downstairs! The drinks are so inventive and fun! My drink was a specialty cocktail that had a blue ice cube the length of my cup and was a beautiful! The food was amazing! The Cauliflower was delicious and well cooked. The Pesto and sauce were not overpowering and complimented the freshness of the veggies! The pizza was so tasty! I ordered the burrata which had raw onion, onion confit, and even shallots! You would think it would be over powering but it was delicious! The waitress gave great recommendations and everything was so good! I will definitely be back! read more

We liked this restaurant until they started passing the credit card fee to customers. That disgusting practice NEEDS to STOP. And, they are doing it unethically as they don't display the messaging anywhere so you don't know until after they've swiped your card. (If they do, it's highly inconspicuous.) Ok, food is good. Ambience is nice in an old, historic house. I enjoy the baba ganoush appetizer and grain salad. My husband likes the burger but last time he ordered the pizza which was really freaking good. Probably the best pizza around. This is coming from a Jersey girl. Their wine selection is small and weird and overpriced but you can BYOB with an obnoxious $25 corkage fee. BTW the highest any other restaurant charges is $15. We are gonna take a time out from this place for a while due to their dishonest practice of not disclosing the credit card fee. read more

Had dinner soon after the recent "big" snow storm. This was our first visit. They had a very limited menu due to not getting deliveries because of the storm. Nevertheless we had delicious fish and chips, eggplant appetizer, wings and cauliflower app. Unfortunately everything was fried, but that's ok. Pinot Grigio was good. We'll be back for the full menu soon. Our server, Mike, was friendly, very handsome and service was excellent. We were seated in the big dining room. There weren't too many other diners, probably due to the weather and it was only 6 o'clock. I love the old buildings like this one and while there was no fire in the fireplace ( not sure if it's gas or wood burning) there was a nice warm vibe. read more

Fabulous first experience at Letty's on a late summer Friday evening. The place has a fabulous reputation, and we made a reservation for our party of six. We were promptly seated in the middle of the upscale, classic dining room. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. The draft beer list was impressive and well-selected, and everyone enjoyed their cocktails as well. We started with the impressive cheese and charcuterie tray, the fried cauliflower and the savory beignets. All were great, with the beignets being a particular standout. I enjoyed my steak frites immensely, and I think next time we will likely have to try dessert as well. Really impressive place, and a stupendous addition to the KSQ dining scene. The best cocktails in Kennett, no questions asked!! I don't think we've ordered off the menu in a while, instead asking the bartender to "make me something you want to make." I've never been disappointed. The entire crew here is awesome and super talented. The burrata pizza is to die for, and if they ever bring the savory beignets back, it's a must try (trust me, it works). Awesome tap list from Tired Hands, too. Incredibly warm and friendly group with excellent service and food. Awesome music on the weekends and a late night menu (check Instagram) round out their vibe. read more

Went here on a recent Friday evening with some friends. None of us thought to make a reservation and they were packed. (It was 6:30 so not too surprising) . The hostess was extremely busy yet helpful and patient. She seated us in the back bar area near the fireplace until a table opened up. We barely had our cocktails ordered before a table was available. The three of us shared a mushroom arancini that was delicious and the potato appetizer which were crispy potatoes in a cream sauce. Quite yummy and a good thing to share. The cocktails are kind of retro-ish very tasty - maybe a little over the top with the ingredients but I guess that's a thing now. We all three got smash burgers which were delicious. Got mine with a side salad which was quite generous. Service in the dining room was adequate- I think the kitchen was backed up so it took a little time, but the server was friendly and efficient. read more

I attended the media preview right before their opening weekend and I was super impressed! My family and I were super sad to see the Kennett Inn close, it was such a special place. It was amazing to see that Letty's is really keeping the history alive and also serving some incredible food and of course local favorites. The food was delicious, we got to sample a lot of menu items. My friends and I were super pleased to see so many vegetarian options on the menu (which is not usually the case at taverns) - all of them were delicious and thoughtful dishes! The sun choke soup was amazing, we also loved the bite sized apps! Already can't wait to go back and enjoy another meal! read more

Letty's is a great restaurant. The cocktails are awesome and the food is (usually) good. I'm knocking off 1 star because of the lack of consistency. I've probably been here 6-8 times and pretty much every time I get pizza (usually the barrata). The first time I had it, it was unbelievable. Since then I've been hoping it would be as good, or even similar, but it seems as though someone new makes the pizza every time. Different ingredients, ratios, etc. I just prefer consistency when going somewhere. The other 1 star removed is from our most recent visit. Tried to change it up and get a margherita pizza. As you can see by the picture, there was really no cheese.. just burnt crust, sauce, and basil. Usually they will put the cheese under the sauce but there was pretty much no cheese at all (or maybe it was burnt??) I like this place and it could be sooo good but they just need to keep it consistent with the food. It's disappointing to have an awesome meal somewhere and go back to have a pretty bad meal. Food was solid. Atmosphere was good, busy but positive Friday night vibe. Sat in the bar area at the new high top tables. They are close together but not as close as you see in NYC. Waitress was pleasant. Outdoor front veranda seating looks nice as it's elevated above the main drag in Kennett. We thought the menu was a bit limited. There were only two sandwiches ($20 burger @ 10 ounces) and maybe six entrees, and two of those were steak. The appetizer selection was kind of an odd assortment of items and they were pricey. The bar service was quite slow. I did not get my first drink before they took our food order. The bar is just probably too small to handle the crowd on a Friday night. I've been to Letty's several times since it opened earlier this year and each time was phenomenal. I think they have some of the best cocktails in Kennett. All of the tavern fare that I've tried has been outstanding, but my favorite food at Letty's is the pizza. The margherita is phenomenal and the white pizza is so cheesy and delicious. I am a fan. My wife and I had a date here a couple weeks ago. Although the bench seating was slightly uncomfortable, I could barely notice as I was completely consumed my the gaze on my beautiful wife. we had the shrimp appreciate which was very tasty just wished there was more than 3 shrimp! And the brócoli app was our favorite item from the night with the egg yolk in the middle. I believe it was a salad actually. In any event it was delicious. We shared a large portioned fish and chips. Everything was great, had a good time and will likely be back to try other items on the menu. read more
