Ice Cream Sandwich with Chocolate Chips Cookies and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
    Sophie F.

Growing up in the Bay, Cream was one of my favorites through the mid-2010s, so I decided to drop in again today. I ordered my go-to--mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate chip cookies--and wow, I remembered why I used to love this place! The cookies were incredible, honestly some of the best I've ever had. Service was great! The only reason for the 4 stars is that the ice cream had a slightly granular texture, which took away from the sandwich. Still, I'll definitely be dropping by again soon!

Oh my gosh, the nostalgia! CREAM opened in Berkeley in 2010, when I was in elementary school. I have so many fond memories of growing up and coming here with my friends and family. As a kid, this was the best place to be--ice cream and cookies all in one. As an adult now, the desire is much less and I haven't stepped foot in quite some time. After dinner with my family, dessert was on our minds so I suggested CREAM! We came on a weekday and it wasn't busy. I've noticed depending on the time and day wait times can vary. The shop is humble and small, with enough space to stand but no areas to sit. Inside you can see all the ice cream and cookie flavors plus the menu of various dessert concoctions. My family did the ordering and the service was speedy. Unfortunately, I don't have dairy anymore but thankfully CREAM has vegan (and gluten-free) options! I ended up getting a scoop of the Soy Mint Chip. Honestly, this wasn't good. It was super duper minty, like the artificial mint taste. Mint and chip is my favorite ice cream flavor but I could barely handle theirs. The consistency was quite chalky and icy as well, which is disappointing as many dairy-free ice creams can still be rich and creamy. I also got a White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie. This was so sweet and sugary, I couldn't eat it all. I feel like the sugar and sweetness levels have gone up here and the quality down. I'm torn because CREAM is such an iconic spot but it isn't what it used to be. If you go to Cal it's worth a visit once but not a place I'd go out of my way for! Regardless, it's a staple and easy to find on the corner of Telegraph Ave. Parking is street or in nearby garages.

Stopped by Cream after walking around and tried the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. It was really good. It was creamy, not too sweet, and the strawberry flavor came through nicely. Simple, solid dessert spot.

After a wonderful day out with my family, my daughter suggested going to cream as we have done in the past because we can trust finest ingredients. Best flavors, and I put my ice cream between a couple warm cookies oh my gosh. They have a great selection of flavors and a big selection of cookies and I would suggest this Berkeley location to enjoy something sweet on any day hot or cold.

Parking is definitely going to be a challenge. We got vanilla ice cream and brownie shake. We loved both and customer service was good. Place was organized.

The birthday cake cookie was amazing. So many sprinkles and it was nice and warm. Didn't feel like having ice cream but tried a sample and it tasted good too. Would go back

Employees looked like college kids, which makes sense. They were nice enough. Probably ready to go home. I ordered an ice cream sandwich, as one does here. The cookies were hard, and the ice cream was super soft. So every time you take a bite, the ice cream squishes out. The churro ice cream is delightful. But I would probably just order it on its own next time. Shop is cute, I honestly don't remember if there was anywhere to sit. But we just got our order to go anyway. I might return. But won't go out of my way to do so.

I haven't been here in a while. It was still good. I think they raised the prices a little bit, but I'd come back. Server was nice. Change her gloves after using cash register I appreciate that.

I love CREAM! Whenever im in the mood for ice cream, this is my go to. I usually opt for a double scoop and get the birthday cake flavor + something else. This time I did birthday cake and cookies n cream. The ice cream is very creamy and flavorful. I enjoy the mix ins in both of these flavors, especially the sprinkles in the birthday cake flavor. There isn't usually a line (unless it's a hot day) but regardless, you can get through pretty quickly. The inside of the shop is pretty cozy, but they do offer a few seats. I highly recommend checking it out!

The sweet treat spot. First impressions: limited seating inside, but not super busy when I went on a Wednesday at 5pm. I got a single scoop of Banana Walnut Fudge, and it was pretty good! Definitely sweet...I think a single scoop was just enough to not leave me feeling icky after consuming too much sugar, but two scoops probably would've done it. I really enjoyed the flavor though - didn't have that artificial banana flavor, more like banana bread plus some fudge and walnut chunks. I had a gift card for CREAM, so I used it here with no issue. But I do remember it being pretty pricey...around $5-6 for one scoop if I remember correctly. If I didn't have a gift card, not sure I would stop by. I typically don't frequent sweet-tooth-sugar dessert spots other than rare occasions, and I think CREAM is that type of place for me.

I first started coming to this location almost 12 years ago as a freshman. Back then, the line would stretch down the block and an ice cream sandwich cost $2. Since then, there are more locations around the Bay Area and the price for the sandwich has tripled. I still enjoy getting their ice cream sandwiches whenever I'm in town. Coming back to CREAM always reminds me of those late nights when I'd stop by with my friends, or grab one to go on my way to the library. They have a large menu, but I always stick with the ice cream sandwich. The chocolate chip cookies are good. In my opinion, the ice cream is just okay. I recently tried the strawberry ice cream and it tasted a little icy. Overall, I recommend trying this spot at least once if you're in the area.

This was a favorite late night hangout many years ago with my friends - cookies and ice cream are some of my go-to desserts and thought it was a genius business idea. In the past, this place was super popular and lines were around the block. Currently, there are several locations around the bay, which helped with a better distribution of the fans and hopefully shorter lines! I would mix and match different cookie and ice cream flavors but some favorites were classic chocolate chip with vanilla or mint chocolate chip ice cream. The cookies were hit or miss with the baking consistency - sometimes they were warm/soft (how I liked them) but there were times when they were a bit over-baked and hard. Prices were decent but have since gotten more expensive. CREAM will always be a special place for me with nostalgic sweet memories!

I believe this is the best ice cream around the area. It's a rare occasion to have ice cream in Berkeley. Anyways. The queue takes a while because almost every order takes some time to assemble and some order several items so keep in mind to wait. I think it's a bit worth it depending on what you would like. I would highly recommend ordering through an app and arriving and getting it the right way. Which I had a good experience. When I decided to walk in for a second time another night, the queue was short so I imagined it would be quick but no. I had Cream a couple of years back but at a different location, I did not like it but years later at Berkely, I reckon distinctly. I ordered the hot fudge sundae with 2 scoops, flavouring being French vanilla and strawberry with fruity pebble topping and the whipped cream with the cherry on top. Ask for a lid! It was so scrumptious and worth the wait. They do work hard to get this piece of sugar into your body. The snickerdoodle with the French vanilla ice cream is very good too, though sometimes the ice cream has a grainy texture. I'll incite a friend or two for a walk out and hang out.

Are there any sugar-free choices (cookies, ice cream, or (ideally) both)? My company is getting items from CREAM for a party this week, and I'm hoping there's something diabetic-friendly.

I don't think there is any sugar free at the moment they have low sugar with the dairy free options but that was it. You have to tell them ahead of time to make some of the cookies sugar free.

I've never had such tasty food at a conference event before, much less food brought in by a catering company (rather than prepared by the on premises dining services)! It was definitely way better than any food prepared at my own university. And looking at the current menus offered by Ann's Catering, it also looked like their pricing was extremely reasonable and competitive too! I especially enjoyed the fresh focaccia bread on the lunch sandwiches, and the quinoa and wild rice salad was a revelation. I originally only took one small scoop, and only because it looked healthy. But then I went back for seconds and took leftovers home because it was so darn tasty! And the chicken satay and beef teriyaki sticks were also really delicious and tender! We had more than enough food for everyone to be well-fed, but there weren't many leftovers either, which I think is a testament to how tasty everything was. I would not hesitate to work with Ann's Catering if I am ever looking for a catering company provider in the East Bay.

After several emails from Ben we were able to settle on a menu in just a few days! We were looking for a Hawaiian fusion themed menu and Ben & his staffto came up with a great menu. W Some of our many items that was a huge hit with our guests were Vietnamese vegan rolls, miso glazed black code, a toss green salad with Edamame and Asian dressing, crab deviled eggs, scallops spoon, chimichuri steak crostini, short ribs skewers, Asian style lamb meatballs, and dessert of fruit cups and mini cupcakes were perfect. There was a few dishes that wasn't as successful but overall everyone enjoyed the food. We had pre arranged to have someone to meet the catering staff early for setup but due to unknown delays they did show up until an hour before the service started which also ment they were rushed to setup the food but they did a good job to get the hot and cold foods setup before the end of the service. The tastings were excellent, and we truly felt heard. They were open to our feedback and made adjustments based on our preferences. The cocktail hour was a highlight - the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and our guests were raving about it. However, the dinner service didn't go quite as smoothly. We were running a bit behind schedule transitioning guests from cocktail hour to their seats, and the catering team served all the food before everyone was seated. As a result, our meals - and many of our guests' - were cold by the time we ate. Additionally, wine and water weren't placed on the tables before the food service began, despite having discussed our wine service preferences in detail during a planning meeting. My husband, my dad, and our venue coordinator all voiced their frustration during the event, and it took longer than expected for the situation to be addressed. Some of the groomsmen even took it upon themselves to grab bottles of wine and serve guests directly, which was helpful, but clearly not something they should have had to do. On top of that, far too many bottles of wine were opened unnecessarily, so we had to send open bottles home with their staff instead of saving them for another occasion. That said, our guests still commented that the food itself was good. We just wish the day-of coordination had matched the quality of the planning phase. With a bit more attention to timing and execution, this could have been a five-star experience.
