Usually when I come here the crawfish are not that big they're not usually the best crawfish ever but sometimes they're at least good enough to where I am able to get my fakes however when I see big crawfish and they're still so unflavored full I just really am confused I don't know if these crawfish are live or not they don't taste like their live boiled at all from you know how mushy they can be I wish that places have the ability to like clean or purge their crawfish but it doesn't seem like this place does that at all I wish that there was a little bit more flavoring being put into the crawfish to make sure that it would taste better and not only just seasonings on top but also seasonings inside of the crawfish more than just different spice levels I don't want just spicy food I want very good tasting food with a lot of different flavor profiles in it so read more

Crawfish ATX - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Austin, Texas

If you want cooked seafood this is the place but I wouldn't spend any money on the oysters they are very small unfortunately.

Best crawfish in Austin ! Nothing beats their sauce & quality of seafood . Would recommend to anyone wanting to try a seafood boil

I was placing an order and she told me to hold on a second and then almost immediately she hung up on me. I called back thinking it was accidental, but no answer. I called back 3 more times and no answer. I understand they might be busy but that's just rude. read more

This was my first time here and I'd say overall it was a pretty good experience. The shrimp and steak was really good and I'd say it's a decent price for what you get. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because it's not a place that is going to wow you. The customer service was average. Other than that, I would recommend coming here. We had a party of about 15 people on a Sunday and got seated fairly fast. read more

So I didn't think a place in southpark meadows would have the best crawfish but it does!! The fresh crawfish are soooooo good!!! Shrimp are great too. read more

Food was ok but could use more seasoning. I got the seafood platter. The one fish fillet was huge compared to most restaurants. The oysters were chewy the shrimp were actually pretty good! Service was really fast & friendly. The restaurant was clean & nicely decorated (Austin Style) read more

Tried going there after being treated rudely by Bartender and now realized won't go back. Food is good just dont order at bar or grab a drink there he'll either cough in your drink or spit in it. Go else where to be treated nicely. read more

We normally love this place but the bar staff are incredibly rude. They don't even acknowledge you when you sit at the bar. When they finally do, they have serious attitude. This is/was one of our favorite spots in South Park meadows but sadly we will not be returning. Take my advice and go to Serranos instead! read more

If I could give one star I would. Food is incredible. But somehow service is bottom feeder level. We were told "our system is down" and then were asked to venmo the server. Spoke to the manager and was mansplained on how credit card processing goes when you type in the numbers. Was told "I'll get yall good next time you're here." What sense does that make. We spent 30 minutes and were late to work. You literally cannot hold customers when it's your incapability of processing payments!! read more

***DIABETIC + KETO BEWARE*** I have gestational diabetes, and I thought I was having a nice, low-carb dinner. My blood sugar spiked up to 185 1 hour after eating. I'm not supposed to go over 140, 1 hour after eating. It's dangerous for myself and my baby. For scope, 29g of carbs puts me at 120 1 hour of eating. I have literally no idea what high carbohydrate crap I just ate. 185! I don't even want to know. I had 2 lbs of crawfish. Do they boil it in sugar here??! Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, BUT if you are medically diagnosed with any dangerous, carb sensitive issues, this is not your place. read more

More of a 3.5 star review but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt this time. I really like the crawfish po boy and the hush puppies I had they were delicious. I wondered about the quality of the crawfish I had tho, didn't seem like it was fresh, almost like it was frozen, but it was still good so whatever. The pricing for it was good as well, my big crawfish po boy which was loaded was only 8 dollars and they gave us extra hush puppies as well for free! No idea why but that sure made me happy. The problem I had tho is that the server I had took awhile to bring menus, forgot straws for our drinks, and also took a bit longer than I would of liked to check on us. He also did not have the menu memorized, like he was new or something. read more

You walk into a restaurant, order the menu, and then someone makes the comment about your eyes being too big for your stomach. The hostess sits you outside, you order food with a larger group, the waiter is too busy with multiple tables and is too overwhelmed to get the order correct. Sometimes businesses fall for the same ploy of thinking they can handle more people just because some tables are empty. While the service here was subpar. The food was great! I had 1 pound of shrimp spicy, Cajun fries, and 2 potatoes. The Cajun fries were pretty average, and the potatoes were just boiled. Exactly what you would expect. The game changer was the shrimp. I've been to similar Cajun style restaurants, but never with a significant amount of butter. The butter was a really nice layer of flavor that helped to coat and enhance the spice. Don't be intimidated to get the spicy level as it is a good kick, but it's not going to keep you sipping water the whole way for most people. The quantity was a good amount, and there was plenty of sauce to dip the potatoes and fries in. Besides the waiter messing up the order a bit, a function of a busy Saturday night, it was a good experience. Definitely recommend checking this place out when it's not too busy and get the seafood! Some other people got the jambalaya and etouffe and the quantity was not as good. read more

I've have seen this place many times and finally decided to pop in on my B day. They have a great happy hour 3-7pm. I sat the bar and the bartender Ozzy was great. Recommend some drinks and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked him about some food we saw other people order and he explained everything. The food prices are good and the atmosphere is real chill. I will be back read more

I love this place. I've been eating here for 3 years. I give it only 4 stars because I think they need to expand. Go on a Friday and you can be there for 2hrs before getting seated. Especially when there's a party of 27 people ahead of you! I really don't have anything negative about the food options or service quality... my only issue has always been making a decision on what to get. The servers are pretty nice and the bar is well stocked. The sweet tea is fire! If you get a boil just know medium is a bit spicier than most. read more

My wife wanted crawfish so we looked for a restaurant nearby and Yelp came up with this restaurant The floor seemed to be a little sticky 'cause when our server came around you could hear the squishy sound as he walked by. He was attentive and friendly. Made our dinner enjoyable. My wife had the Crawfish Etouffe which she said was pretty good and I had the Butterfly Shrimp was coated with a thin layer of batter. the shrimp seemed to be freshly cooked, couldn't tell if it was frozen, and came with two hush puppies and coleslaw which was pretty good. With two beers, our total bill came to $31. read more

today 02-14 Valentine's Day. My family and I wait for about one hour and 15 minutes to get a table. We finally got a table and we wait 20 minutes and no one got to us. We went ahead and let the host know that no one have services and she replayed that they were real busy. She asked another waitress to help us and he refused. I was with my 14 years old and 10. we went there after work and we waste like one hour and thirty minutes. real poor services. At the end and she told me that she was just the host and that she was sorry and that there was nothing she can do. read more

A co-worker had been recommending Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar for ages and I finally decided to give it a try. In fact, I was at the Third Base sports bar nearby and I left there to come and eat here. And I'm so glad that I did! I was by myself on this day, so I took a seat at the bar. I was promptly greeted and served a very cold beer. I ordered 2 lbs. of crawfish and a turkey neck. Yes, a turkey neck. I was surprised to see it on the menu as I have never seen a turkey neck on any other menu anywhere! And let me tell you, it was delicious. I was sucking that tender, savory neck meat off of those vertebrae like a man possessed! Lol, but seriously it was very meaty and tasty. The crawfish did not disappoint either. I was dipping those tails in the spicy butter/seasoning mixture at the bottom of the dish and sucking those heads like there was no tomorrow. There are few things better than a crawfish dinner with cold beer. I was a little disappointed with the corn and potato. They were both a little overcooked maybe and the corn was tough and chewy and the potato was dry. I don't have much room to complain though since I ate them both anyway after dipping them into that robust and flavorful butter/seasoning. The service was great and the price was right. I can say with certainty that I will be back again soon! read more

I came here yesterday for Father's Day. Got in a small line at 1145 (open at 12). We get to the hostess and she tells us they're short staffed and won't be able to sit us for 30 minutes. We put our name down and get a confirmation text. 2 hours later we still did not get a text our table was ready. When we drove by later it looked like THE WHOLE BUILDING was full of people. First off, how embarrassing for this business to be short staffed on Father's Day and to turn away customers. Second, poor communication. Third, the people behind us in line began to get angry and cut through the line. The hostess did nothing. I'm surprised the manager wasn't in the front apologizing to all the people who waited in line. read more

It's been quite a while since we've been to this place. I don't know if they sold or changed management, but it's not the same place it used to be. The raw oysters had lots of shell in them. They were out of all salads. They were out of Jalapenos. We won't be back. read more

This used to be my go to spot, I haven't been in quite some time. The menu has really changed. I ordered take out, which is what I always did in the past. The food has really changed. We came here on Good Friday looking forward to eating at our favorite seafood restaurant in Austin. We have been coming here for years and it is amazing until today. Today we waiting over the usual 45 minute wait, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes. We looked at the menu on the chalk board specialities so we can know what we want once we sat down. Once we sat down we were starving and we were ordering and they have removed multiple of our favorites from the menu. The specific thing we came here for wasn't even available but it was on the menu so we had to get something else. We got our shrimp and it was horrible, it tasted like rubber and it was not enjoyable. We got two separate lbs of crab and one platter came with 2 clusters and one came with 1 so we were confused and ask for the manager. The manager didn't seem like he knew what we were saying and didn't help us feel better. The service and food was not it today. WILL NEVER RETURN. And it took forever to get our check and waiter was trying to fight us after messing up the check and asking to refund the platter Very disappointed. unprofessional. Disrespectful. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! read more

Updating this review from two stars to one. Terrible service. Like just awful. They're not even understaffed. They're just unorganized and the employees they do have aren't kind nor do they want to help. We were told a 45 min wait, we asked if we could sit at the bar, he said yes, reluctantly and we ordered food and drinks and sat for an hour watching a group of maybe 50 ppl come in over the hour we sat. In the time they held those tables for this giant group they could have made money from all the guests they turned away waiting for those tables. The food was not even good. Will not be back. read more

The first time I tasted this type of food was in California and I tried Boiling Crab. When I moved to Austin, this was the only place where I found the boiled seafood closest to Boiling Crab but still not even close to what BC tasted like. But over the months of eating there (I go there at least once a month), I finally found a way they can be as good as BC, that is, if you ask them to spice it up to XXX. Or else it is just like a bland food. Their snow crab was also good and the oysters were fresh. read more

Came here just at the beginning of the crawfish season. $9.49/lb of crawfish that day. Not bad i suppose. Got 2lb of the crawfish which came with some corn, sausages, mushrooms, potato and onions. On the mild seasoning. At least thats what i ordered. Mild. Tasted more like a medium to my weak spice tolerance taste buds. But it was still amazingly delicious. Did wish that each serving of the sides were more. There was six tiny pieces of quartered mushrooms. And only one half a corn cob. I mean i guess it was a filling enough meal and i didnt need it. If you want you can get a plastic bib and gloves to use too. The bib was handy since i was wearing white. read more

This place used to be amazing. But after my most recent visit, I will never go back. The hostess was super mean and our server ignored us. read more

To me it's an odd location for this type of place and it's not really a shack as much as a new strip mall center. The interior is adorned with people's writing on any surface that they can. The daily market price for all items are located on chalk boards on either sides of the bar. I came for the boil and they offer crawfish in the off season, frozen or fresh and a variety of other selections. We ordered 2 pounds of crawfish, 1 pound of blue crabs (two whole crabs) and the cajun fries. They put out a white paper on the table for the boils which makes you see just how messy of an eater you are (my spot was doused in juices and butter) but, hey if you aren't wearing it then the crawfish must not have been that good. To accompany our food we took advantage of the $5.00 bloody marys on Saturday. The bloody marys were good, not as terrible as other places but, not the best that I have had either. For $5.00 though they are worth it if you don't like your bloody boozy. The blue crabs were difficult to manuever, not a lot of meat and don't have the sweet crab flavor. I would recommend just getting the snow crab legs if you have a hankering for crab. The crawfish is where it's at! The seasoning was the best that I have ever had on a boil anywhere. It was garlicy, buttery and had just the right amount of spice (I ordered spicy). Lift up the crawfish in the bowl because all the goodness is underneath. We ordered a side of drawn butter but, you don't need it. We ordered the fresh crawfish and they were smaller than in season but, still delicious. When you order 2 pounds of crawfish you receive the fixins of a half of a corn cob, one boiled potato, small pieces of sausage, onion and mushrooms. It's worth it but, if you are like me you should order some extra pieces of each, especially if you are sharing because there isn't that much to go around. Everyone is raving about the cajun fries but, to me they were just ok. They were regular fries with some seasoning thrown on top served with ketchup! Not really any wow factor. Our service was also 5 stars! The price per pound was a bit high but, it is off season and I would be curious to see their pricing during the season because there are some cheaper places. I guess you get what you pay for though and here you get the seasoning of a lifetime that will make you come back for more. read more

My daughter was begging me to let her try some crawfish and this was our first stop on your whistle stop tour of crawfish boils. Crawfish ATX - Say hello to my little friend. - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Austin, Texas

They would get a 5 star review if I was just comparing the crawfish, and crabs to the other crawfish and crabs available in Austin. Buttttt, there are other factors here... 1 - Slow...very SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW. Took forever to get a table, and while waiting forever to get a table it took forever to get a beer, then when I finally got a beer, and finally got a table, I finally got to order, then finalllllly got my food. 2. Crawfish and Crabs - Not complaining here, Austin doesn't have good crawfish so you gotta take what you can get. Pretty good flavor, I could have used a bit more heat, but overall good job! The crawfish were pretty big, and came with plenty of corn, potatoes, and sausage. The crabs were terrific! 3. Boudain balls - satisfy the craving, but I would skip them and eat more crawfish. 4. Prices - Not too bad, for the flavor, and size of the crawfish, it was fair. 5. Decor and ambience... just joking not going there, it's a crawfish shack. I will return, hoping it's a little smoother and quicker. read more

I'm giving this 4 stars because I finally found a place down south that does raw oysters at a crazy reasonable price that are yum yum to my tum tum. We tried the fried catfish, too, and it was very good. I wasn't impressed with the cole slaw (I'm definitely a cole slaw snob) because it seemed old and because of that, bitter, but the rest of the dinner was very good. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very prompt and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

We come here for crawfish when it's in season and have never been disappointed. I do notice they tend to serve smaller and smaller ones as the season ends. But their buttery garlicky sauce is really good. I always get the 1x spicy with extra mushrooms and sausage. I sometimes order crab legs and those can be served in the same sauce if you like. Cajun fries and calamari are good and pretty cheap too. Dinner during the week Mon-Thurs is usually not crowded, sometimes a bit empty. The only time we had to wait about 45 mins was on a Friday during Lent season, but that's not surprising. I like the location too, it's in South Park Meadows, so you can get Amy's Ice Cream, Boba tea, or froyo for dessert afterwards. Or do some shopping at Target. read more
