The hostess sits you outside, you order food with a larger group, the waiter is too busy with multiple tables and is too overwhelmed to get the order correct. Sometimes businesses fall for the same ploy of thinking they can handle more people just because some tables are empty. While the service here was subpar. The food was great! I had 1 pound of shrimp spicy, Cajun fries, and 2 potatoes. The Cajun fries were pretty average, and the potatoes were just boiled. Exactly what you would expect. The game changer was the shrimp. I've been to similar Cajun style restaurants, but never with a significant amount of butter. The butter was a really nice layer of flavor that helped to coat and enhance the spice. Don't be intimidated to get the spicy level as it is a good kick, but it's not going to keep you sipping water the whole way for most people. The quantity was a good amount, and there was plenty of sauce to dip the potatoes and fries in. Besides the waiter messing up the order a bit, a function of a busy Saturday night, it was a good experience. Definitely recommend checking this place out when it's not too busy and get the seafood! He was attentive and friendly. Made our dinner enjoyable. A co-worker had been recommending Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar for ages and I finally decided to give it a try. In fact, I was at the Third Base sports bar nearby and I left there to come and eat here. And I'm so glad that I did! I was by myself on this day, so I took a seat at the bar. I was promptly greeted and served a very cold beer. I ordered 2 lbs. of crawfish and a turkey neck. Yes, a turkey neck. I was surprised to see it on the menu as I have never seen a turkey neck on any other menu anywhere! And let me tell you, it was delicious. I was sucking that tender, savory neck meat off of those vertebrae like a man possessed! Lol, but seriously it was very meaty and tasty. The crawfish did not disappoint either. I was dipping those tails in the spicy butter/seasoning mixture at the bottom of the dish and sucking those heads like there was no tomorrow. There are few things better than a crawfish dinner with cold beer. I was a little disappointed with the corn and potato. They were both a little overcooked maybe and the corn was tough and chewy and the potato was dry. I don't have much room to complain though since I ate them both anyway after dipping them into that robust and flavorful butter/seasoning. The service was great and the price was right. I came here yesterday for Father's Day. Got in a small line at 1145 (open at 12). We get to the hostess and she tells us they're short staffed and won't be able to sit us for 30 minutes. We put our name down and get a confirmation text. 2 hours later we still did not get a text our table was ready. When we drove by later it looked like THE WHOLE BUILDING was full of people. First off, how embarrassing for this business to be short staffed on Father's Day and to turn away customers. Second, poor communication. When I moved to Austin, this was the only place where I found the boiled seafood closest to Boiling Crab but still not even close to what BC tasted like. But over the months of eating there (I go there at least once a month), I finally found a way they can be as good as BC, that is, if you ask them to spice it up to XXX. I was in Austin for the weekend and decided to check this place out. When we got there it looked to be a wait time as there were groups of people sitting outside. Walked in there was not a host at the hostess stand. We stood there for about 5 minutes before one came. We noticed open seating at the bar we sat there. We sat there for about 10 mins with one menu and a dirty bar top. Finally the bartender came out asked if we needed another menu and then took out drink order. As we sat there i noticed the rest of the bar had not been cleaned off. When the bartender returned he took our order. I took a napkin to clean off the bar and pushed it over to the side. The bartender just put a piece of paper over the trash before our food came out. Didn't take long for our food to come out which was good. The snow crab legs were huge and very meaty. My bf and I love seafood especially crab, we usually cook it at home cause it's cheaper but if we're wanting to go out we go to Joe's crab shack but we got recommended to this place by a friend and tried it out. The only thing I really liked about my meal was the garlic butter and the spice. I ordered 1LB of Snow Crab which was 16.99 (overpriced) by bf ordered King crab, 2LBs which was $51 (SUPER overpriced) and I had very little meat in my crab claws. They also ran out of potatoes? My complaint is the fact my order comes with one half corn on cob and one potato and to add more they charge per cob and potato and you even have to pay for butter lol.
