While in town for a funeral, we picked up dinner from here because we wanted veggies. This is NOT your normal, standard Cracked Barrel. I ordered shrimp with green beans and mashed potatoes. My sister had a veggie plate of double hash browns, green beans, and turnip greens. My mother had carrots and a baked potato. The green beans were straight from a can, zero cooking, zero seasoning, just heated up from the can. The mash potatoes were about the same... bland and no taste! The turnip greens were no better! My mom enjoyed her potato and the shrimp was just ok. If I'm ever back in Springfield, I'll skip this place! Unless you like uncooked, unseasoned food! read more

What do you want me to do about it? That is what the young lady behind the checkout counter said to me when I went looking for someone to refill our water glasses when I couldn't find our waitress. She told me she works for the front half of the store. Didn't offer to find anyone. Had breakfast this morning, and the food was delicious. but service was awful. Took 9 minutes after they sat us down for waitress to come back to get our order and drinks. We asked for more water and she said she would be back and didn't come back until she gave us our checks. When i paid my bill to the same young lady, she asked how things where and I told her bad. She just looked at me but did not offer to get a manager. I realize by $11 doesn't mean much to cracker barrel. but this is one place I will not be back to. read more

I travel a lot and prefer Cracker Barrels. One thing I clearly noticed is the quality if the food as well as service has gone down year after year. This one in Springfield (in my opinion) was the worst of all. Long wait for the first coffee and longer wait for the food. Nothing I had was warm and everything tasted boxed or delivered frozen and just warmed up. I won't be back to that one as with many other's that have gone down hill to the point where it's not good food anymore. read more

I feel kind of bad because I have a one-sided relationship with Cracker Barrel. I almost never eat at the restaurant, but I love it because they have decent restrooms, which are a godsend when you're on a road trip. And they let you just use them. I usually also buy a candy bar and a coffee on my way out, though, because I don't want to use Cracker Barrel like that. Cracker Barrel deserves better. Like all of the Cracker Barrel locations, this one has a nice general store, with candy bars that you can purchase to ease your guilt after you've peed in their toilets. They have lots of old-fashioned candies, too, which is neat. The store also has many different kinds of toys, gifts and other interesting things to browse and purchase. This location has amazing coffee, which they provide in to-go cups, if you ask for them. read more

Josi did an excellent job of serving us. I liked that in true Cracker Barrel fashion she introduced herself, so I introduced my brother and I. She remembered our Jelly.She was friendly and attentive. I ordered the 1 pc catfish dinner with turnip greens and hashbrown casarole. And of course I had hushpuppies. I savedd my cornbread and biscuit for dessert which a I enjoyed with black berry Jelly. My biggest complaint is that the portions seemed smaller than in past visits. My food wasn't particularly hot but acceptable. This location as all locations was nicely decorated. No trip to Cracker Barrel is complete without checking out the the country store. The Springfield Location had the best selection of Lodge Cast Iron cookwear I've seen in a Cracker Barrel. I bought a Panama Jack hat that had a great markdown which made it more in line to what I'd pay for a hat. Derek was a good check out person. Overall a great experience. First thing, why am I writing this review. Do I need to go any further. I moved here from Florida, and never once have I had a bad meal. Now, I moved to Springfield, Ohio, and the Cracker Barrel is as good or better. I go on Saturday and get the pork chop special. Not only do I get one,but I get two and are fresh & tender. To top it off, I get the peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. This review makes me hungry. I will have to wait to go back on Saturday read more

Lunchtime and the dining room was full with a twenty minute wait in the gift shop .. and well worth the wait. Visiting from Las Vegas where the Cracker Barrel restaurants can not compare, it is nice to visit this restaurant again. Even as busy as that are, the employees are friendly and attentive. To start off the night when I ordered, the waitress did not ask if I wanted corn bread or biscuits, probably because I was with a large party. My husband and I got takeout food from cracker Barrel for dinner there this week and when we got home this was my husband's grilled chicken tenders. They were completely burnt on one side. Not to mention they were small compared to my breaded chicken tenders.These tiny tenders wouldn't have even filled up a one year old. I sat there in disbelief. I had gotten breaded chicken tenders myself and they were nice and plump although still super tiny but they were thick and they gave me a lot. So I was able to share my tenders with him. The rest of the food was decent. I love they are broccoli and cheese casserole was off the hook good! But they really need to do something about those grilled tenders because those left my mouth hanging open, I could not believe a restaurant would serve that and think it was quality food. back in the day I was in restaurant management, and there is absolutely no way I would send those out the door I just would not, and I'd be talking to my district manager about changing the grilled tenders from the supplier we are getting them from, because those are just like super sad tiny tenders. read more

They had a good food that I have known and loved for a long time. I was surprised by the wait time in the following way: initially the hostess was saying it would be about a 45 minute wait. For us that worked out OK, so we were willing to do it. It turns out the way it was a lot closer to 15 minutes. So not only did we get Great food, but we got it in a little bit less than a third of the time. read more

Don't have a large party. They made our party wait well over an hour while they kept filling the restaurant up with those parties of 1 or 2.

Food was on point for our visit. Service was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. The dining room was clean, spacious, and well lit. As always, the gift shop side of the building had plenty of tempting items that are hard to find elsewhere. Looking forward to our next return! read more

The food is good and I always enjoy shopping in the connecting store for really cute and unusual items. I was able to find some great deals there and everything is good quality, I feel. Something seemed "off" at the restaurant and I really couldn't put my finger on the problem. Like I said , food was good, environment is nice, service was good, but still something didn't feel right. Then it dawned on me. There never was #justiceforbradswife! Poor Brad and his wife have been out of touch for over a year now! It was February of 2017 that Brads wife was let go and we still don't know why! #11years there and Nanette and Brad have never been told, at least not to my knowledge why Brads wife now is not working for Cracker Barrel! 1/20/04. Eat at the cracker Barrel in Springfield Ohio earlier today. It took about 12 minutes from the time my waitress took my order until she came out with my order. I give that a ten out day f ten. And her service was great couldn't ask for any better again 10 out of 10. Ordered my go to meal country fried chicken breakfast with pancakes on the side. . Give the food a 7 out of ten. Chicken was dry with no seasoning. Now for the bad. The lightning was very poor . If I hadn't known what i wanted I would have had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. The over head lights were very dim and the shade's were very dusty. Then they had the kerosene lamps on the tables burning. So the smell of kerosene field the room. Under the table next to me was food that hadn't been cleaned up. So on the cleanliness I give a 2 out of 10 . And the poor lighting I give a 2 out of 10. Would I go back yes but only because the food wasn't bad and the service was great. But I would only go back on a very sunny day when the light is coming through the windows. And I would be sure the area was clean. read more

You all know Cracker Barrel - the store, the candy, the breakfast all day and, of course, their version on home made classics. The beauty of CB is they are all the exact same. Most reviews are about service. We were seated quickly, the waitress was good. My review today, however, is about the Sugar Plum Iced Tea. It's for a limited time and you should get it!!! The waitresses told me that it is made with is 1/2 unsweetened tea, 1/2 sweat tea and the "winter fruit" flavor shot (syrup). It tastes like the best sweetest plum you've ever had. First time at a Cracker Barrrel, seen them all over the place, never went, cuz was never sure what it was....a store or a restaurant. And guess what, it's both. Lol. The store has a ton of interesting stuff and Knick knacks. Go through the store, and there is a restaurant. The hostess was quite friendly. We were seated right away. Our server came within minutes and was also super personable, professional, and offered plenty of suggestions and help with the menu. No alcohol here at all. Which is ok I guess. They do have a wide variety of teas, lemonades, and anything else that does not contain any alcohol. Our food did not take too long to come out and came out crazy hot. Simple plates. Not big on presentation. Portion sizes are quite sizable. And the food was just absolutely delicious. A lot of flavor in our meals. Plenty of biscuits and corn bread with your meals. You will not go hungry here at all. Not my typical five star review, but for friendly service, great food, clean environment, super affordable food, and even a cute little store...what else could you ask for....? Besides alcohol. Underwhelming dining experience. Chicken fried steak seemed like a pre frozen portion and was overcooked . Not nearly as good as the Bob Evans version we had a few days later. I ordered through doordash through a delivery service an ordered your sampler platter, in the sampler platter I ordered three side one of dumplings, want to mashed potatoes and gravy and corn quit sugar cured ham. I received sampler platter of chicken and dumplings and meatloaf let's adjourn out piece of sugar cured ham. Besides I received an extra mashed potatoes and gravy the dumplings and no corn. Rather than go back to doordash, I called them just got out the corn issue I never got a chance to tell him about the ham and the guy came back and said the managers at packed it said there was corn in there and abruptly hung up. I went to this Cracker Barrel on a weekday for lunch with a large group and we were seated right away- a first! Most in my party were happy with their food. Two orders got mixed up but were corrected. One hamburger steak looked burned and dry to me, but it wasn't mine, and the person eating it didn't complain. The biscuits/ cornbread for our end of the table came out after the entrees. I had Chicken Fried Steak, which I wouldn't order again- it was fried hard, and had a bit of a bite to it. The gravy was so thick it just sat on top like pudding. It had three side dishes with it, though, so I had more than enough food even with only eating half the entree. We don't normally decide to eat here, as it's sort of "off the beaten trail" here in Springfield, but it's close to home, and a perfect spot to meet traveling friends/family as it's right off the interstate and near hotels. I'm always tempted to get "fancy" at these "home style/good old fashioned country cooking" type places, and maybe that's where the problem lies... ME, not the place itself!! Good service, in and out pretty quickly (not even much of a wait, which meant no extra $$$ spent in the "do I really need this?!?" country store!!) A pretty typical Cracker Barrel: good food, reasonable prices, nothing outstanding but it's dependable. This location is a bit out of the way; watch for the tiny sign to turn in by the hotel. Service was pretty good. I had the mango chicken (I think that was it, with apple chutney or some such.) It was an average chicken breast, with very good chutney. Not very big, and I was hungry after we finished. Sweetie had french toast and bacon; I sampled both and they were good. The gift shop is fun even if you don't buy anything, and gives you something to do while you wait. Long wait due to Covid-19 precautions. The service was good but they are using limited menu's now. Not much to choose from. Food was adequate. Only real issue I had our waitress kept asking us if we wanted a box for our food. Which we were still eating.
