Went here and got the steak omelet. Portion was huge, omelet had the perfect amount of steak, and it was rolled up rather than folded in half as youd expect from a diner. Also have gone here to get simple breakfast items such as bacon toast and eggs and have never been disappointed. read more

This place is very disorganized. We showed up and waited to be seated . They never once looked up at us and said. " we will be right with you " a few more people started showing up and they seated them right away. They should have someone make a list when people show up . Very disappointed with this place . Still love it. They take phone orders and the menu is on their website. So are coupons. This is basic diner food in a clean atmosphere. I take family here and usually I'm very picky about that. There's something for everyone on the menu (not sure about vegetarians but there are plenty of egg dishes and veggie sides...) so it's good when a group can't decide where to go. I do think it's better than Jacks because Jacks is jacked up in terms of their clientele. I'd rather not have to look at cracked out hobos and drunken hooligans while I eat pie. Cozy is much more sedate. Pricing is good. If you have problems I suggest taking it to the manager because when I've had problems they hook you up with a gift certif. :) read more

I have eaten hear quite a bit...love their chicken chiabatta breakfast sandwhiches. The sausage is fresh and not a pre-frozen patty. I like the friendly service. I don't think that 3.99 for pie and coffee after 7 pm is a "DEAL" though? Love the chicken and the blue cheese salad dressing is just right...fresh and light....not too strong. Terrible food and service. Had the Reuben, meat was really dry and no thousand island. Fries were soggy and greasy. My gf had chili and chicken and that also was really sub-par. Maybe their breakfast is ok but I really recommend you go somewhere else read more

Very bad experience, waited around an hour for our food after waiting 20 minutes to order and the service was terrible. Very rude employee in response to overcharging me for a a bigger drink size than what I ordered. Ordered a veggie omelette and asked for spinach in it and there was no spinach and was charged $1.29 for it. Will not be coming back. read more

I came here with family and had the build-a-dinner with the meatloaf. I didn't expect much, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious! I scraped off the brown gravy (not being much of a gravy fan) to discover a moist meatloaf with celery and tomato bits with peppery undertones that tasted more like steak than hamburger, so I suspect they use the more expensive sirloin ground beef. It was a far cry from the usual diner fare and I thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

Cozy Diner never disappoints! I work right down the road from here so it is so nice and convenient to call in an order to pick up great home cooked food. I am so grateful to have a place to take my family when I need a break from cooking and just want to be waited on. The best things I can say about Cozy is the broasted chicken is good (probably because it's a chain recipe not connected to them), and you get a lot of food for not much money. Though unfortunate circumstances I have eaten here 4 times, and each time I tried something different, and each time it was bad. My advice? Get the broasted chicken for take-out, and get whatever else you want for dinner from somewhere else. read more

I had lunch there yesterday. They seem to be "famous" for their broasted chicken. I ordered it, thinking it would be exceptional. The chicken was so salty that I couldn't eat it. The service was good, so maybe you'd like to go there and order something else. Good luck. read more

Disappointing service, had to ask for coffee multiple times to multiple employees, then the same with the creamer and ended up getting it myself from an empty table, eggs ordered over medium / over-hard arrived runny, food arrived cold. I like this place. But over the past two years, the service has gone way way down. So sad. If you go to Cozy Diner, be prepared for a half-hour wait for your food, minimum. Took the family in for dinner tonight. This is a great place to go because of the variety of options, which anyone knows is a plus when 5 people are trying to decide on what they want to eat for dinner. We were sat at a table as soon as we walked in. Our server, Lacey, was awesome. Got our drinks right away, which never ran out before being refilled, and ordered shortly after that. The food came out in a timely matter and was good as always. If you want a place that still has that small town, home cooked feel give Cozy Diner a visit. read more

Stopped by for breakfast this morning while waiting for my car to be repaired.Big mistake. Starting with the coffee. Terrible. Nothing more than brown water. Asked for eggs over medium, got eggs over easy. Pancakes served with cold syrup. Bacon underdone and practically tasteless. Took a few bites and left the rest. We went here for breakfast for the first time. Eggs were rubber and practically cold when we finally got our food, hash browns were undercooked, pancakes were dry no matter how much syrup you drowned them in. The bacon and sausage was pretty good. I give 3 stars only because our waitress was very nice and helpful. I might try them for lunch, but never again for breakfast. read more

While this place has large servings the quality of the food suffers as a result. Denny's or Jack's could fix you a better plate of eggs and bacon and it would probably be cheaper. Their menu is limited as well, the don't have a lot of breakfast staples like Eggs Benedict, Do NOT go here if you are a vegetarian, this place is Bacon City, and not in a good way. read more

I was in the mood for meatloaf... it was busy for which I was patient.... the service was as expected when sort of busy and the mashed potatoes were excellent but the meatloaf was dry and hard as a piece of wood... I tried to eat as much as I could considering I took it to go.... However, as I was waiting to order and for my food I did notice there needs to better communication between the wait staff and the cooks.. it is team work after all.,.. Also, the management and the host were not much involved in the team work... in my 30 years experience in this business I saw very little team work..... How this place won best diner in the CN&R is beyond me and honestly makes me doubt the validity of the publication. Cozy diner was one of the worst eating experiences I've had since moving to Chico and I highly recommend people stay clear of this place. When I walked in I was told to seat myself by the man at the register and had to grab my own menu on the way over. Even now I'm not sure who my server was since there was a different person each time they came to my table. As for the food, the veggie omlette was bland and flavorless aside from being drowned in cheap rubbery cheese, the home fries had no flavor even after heavy salting, and the blueberry muffin was sickeningly sweet and tasted cheap like a Captain crunch berry cereal. After all this, they had apparently dropped off my bill without a word and I wasn't spoken to at all after they dropped of my sub par meal. So, I watched way too many Diners, Drive-In's and Dives...I decided I needed to find a good diner around Chico. Now, I didn't have really high hopes for the Cozy Diner, but I thought..maybe. Maybe Not. So...not good. You know, sometimes, I don't mind if the food isn't the best. I can deal with run of the mill, greasy, comfort food any day of the week. But, Cozy Diner was terrible. All the meals come with choice of two starters...all of the choices were kinda strange except for soup and salad. Like cottage cheese strange. When the soup and salad appeared, they were both weak, tired looking and pretty much gross. I was in a strange mood and did something I never imagined I would do: I ordered chicken fried steak from the cozy diner. In hindsight, not a good idea. But, my dad makes a legendary chicken fried steak, and I was craving it. It was awful, really. It was like a hamburger patty was breaded and attempted to be fried. The breading wasn't even crispy and the beef was tasteless. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also completely tasteless, and the veggies were way, way overcooked. My husband also had a bland, tasteless dinner that came with dessert. When he asked what kind of fruit pies they had, they waitress had to go look and was gone for a long time. When the pie arrived, it seemed to be made from canned pie filling and was also disappointing. It was pretty cheap (around $10 a person), but that's no excuse for food that really should be served in an airplane or hospital. It is strictly for the 70's and older crowd (at least when we were there for dinner), and the food definitely caters to them. Mushy and bland. I would never return, and still can't believe I ever got up the nerve to try it in the first place. read more

Cozy is a nice place to get some cheap breakfast. The food is usually good and you gets brought out to you quickly. It isn't one of the best breakfast spots in Chico but it is cheap and gets the job done. read more

Solid diner. The decor was a little depressing, but perfect for a dive diner in a college town. Service was a little slow. My family and I started going to Cozy Diner close to a year ago, when we were looking for something comparable to Kalico Kitchen. The food is almost exactly the same (including the use of Heinz products which will mess with sulfite allergies), which is no surprise since they all buy the same food from the same distributor. However, the atmosphere (which is based loosely on a 1950s theme) is far newer, cleaner, and inviting than Cozy's dingy yellow cafe vibe. The big down side to this diner, for us, is that the wait staff tends to be very slow and easily confused. So, if it looks to be even a tiny bit busy inside, you're better off going elsewhere; if you don't, it could easily be 20 minutes before you even get your drinks. read more

I love the meat lovers skillet here and a nice glass of tea. They are good about filling drinks. On the other hand the blonde older waitress has a thing with people asking for egg whites, a few times my meal has come back with "egg beaters" and I did not like that! One time she even told me "can you do egg beaters instead? If I tell the guys in back its egg whites they will freak out". Okay sorry I'm paying for my meal and want it how I want it? Will continue to go but always have to be adamant about my whites. read more

Love this place and the service is what really keeps me coming back (well and the bacon). The managers are super friendly and the staff is helpful and nice. We've been there three times in one week and each time we had a great visit. I can't wait to enjoy the patio as it gets warmer, just one thing you shouldn't allow people to smoke out there. I don't want to smell that while I'm eating and your patio is right by the entrances. The Chico City Council adopted a smoke-free entryways ordinance in October 2012 that will go into effect in December of 2012. Service was great! No it was excellent. I did order something that was simple but didn't enjoy it which was the turkey dinner. I think the can cranberry jelly killed it and as well as the over cooked stuffing. The stuffing had good flavor though. The corn bread was excellent!!! The salad seems not old but maybe the fridge is too cold it was wilted in some spots. The baked potato was yuuuummy just like home!! read more
