Been here multiple times with my family and it was amazing hands down but recently the last 2 times we went our service was super poor and both times we had hair in our food and all they have to say for it is "thats twice this happened" like we are the ones doing something wrong when we are just trying to enjoy our meal without there employees hair in our food but apparently that's to much to ask for at this diner! We will not be returning and giving them our service until they can improve and get better waiters this is getting ridiculous if you don't like the job you have and are going to treat customers horrible then why have that type of job! read more

The hubby and I like to go here for breakfast on the weekend. He loves the French Toast and I go for the something different every time - waffles, omelette, pancakes, crepes... They serve breakfast all day which is a plus. To be a good breakfast place in my book, a restaurant has to have tasty hash browns. Cozy passes with flying colors. Their hash browns are crispy on the outside and soft and well cooked on the inside. Not extra greasy like so many places (Waffle House!). Scrambled eggs tend to be overcooked, so I choose over easy instead. When I ordered the New York steak breakfast "medium" was definitely "well done", which was a bummer. They offered to make me a new one though, so that was a plus. The service is excellent here. They constantly refill your coffee or drink without having to ask - love that! All the times I have gone here (including for dinner sometimes), I have gotten excellent service. That's important to me. The prices are competitive and they have some incredible specials. I still have not tried the Broasted chicken, but I hear that it's good. They make their pies from scratch and they are very good. The ambiance is pretty much like a Coco's / Carrow's / Denny's - mostly booths. They have several big screen TVs with sports playing for the most part. Unfortunately, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. We usually go to Beatnik's every Sunday but thought it would be fun to change it up this weekend. WRONG! There was a short wait which is always totally fine- but once we got seated, we waited for TWENTY minutes and were never even acknowledged. Just got up and left. First time here, glad we came. We all met in town for a memorial service, the back room was reserved for 10 or so people. We arrived an hour before the reserved time, there was 5 of us at the time. The manager took really good care of us while waited for the rest of our group to get there. BEST PIES AROUND!!! We had a slice before dinner(just fot you Leen)OMG...I had the coconut cream, best I've had In awhile. We finally sat with the rest of our party, ordered our meals...our waitress was fabulous, not one thing was forgotten. I had chicken fried steak and eggs, VERY good!!! Not one person complained about anything, everyone was VERY satisfied!!! When I'm in the chico area around lunch or dinner...definitely making a stop there!! Thank you to the manager and staff. The portions are enormous as my breakfast order of eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns and french toast could have fed 2 people. Eggs were fluffy, but a bit bland. There's little pieces of ham inside but those get lost pretty easily. It's nothing pepper and hot sauce couldn't fix. The hashbrowns were crispy and not greasy which was a nice surprise. Bacon was super crispy and thick which I loved. The disappointment in the meal was the sausage. i don't think they cooked it long enough as the skin was too soft, and had almost a weird, slimy texture. Took about 2-3 bites then decided it wasn't worth it. Their normal coffee is a bit weak so i wish they brewed it stronger. Best thing easily was the french toast. My second time eating here and I will not go back. The first time I ate here was with my daughter and the experience was strange. So I decided to give it a second try and oh my gosh, what a sh*t show. We went on a Saturday morning and got sat right away and drink orders taken, cool. Our waitress approached us and we weren't ready yet so we kindly let her know, she just walked away rudely so that was weird. Then she comes back, takes our order and made us feel so rushed, kept saying "anything else" so then she brings the food, my daughters plate was all wrong, my daughter told her she wanted her eggs scrambled and they weren't, she also said she wanted all bacon no sausage and she gave her all sausage, so the waitress literally rolls her eyes, grabs the plate aggressively and walks away. She takes forever to come back so my food was getting cold, finally she comes and just drops the plate off and walks away and also left the bill there to. She never once came back to give us refills, boxes, even just to check in on us. But yet she walked by to check on all of the people at tables next to us. Totally rude. We just got up and paid up front and told the cashier about our experience. On our bill it said her name is Casey, she had blonde hair. If a manager or owner reads this, you need to tell that waitress to be nicer to customers if she wants to waitress. That's what most of her job is about, is being nice to people. She made us feel like her mistakes were our fault when we just wanted to enjoy breakfast, she is the reason we will NOT be back. read more

Comfort Food ! We've been coming here for years, mostly for breakfast & lunch. It's a large place with ample seating, we've never had to wait for seating. The staff is super friendly. No problem with changing/adding something different on your order. Food arrives at your table quick. Do not expect low-calories here. No way. It's all very large portions of homemade comfort food at good prices. Gigantic portions. We either share a dish or take for leftover. Great diner food. Perfect breakfast always. Never fails. We usually get Eggs Benedict or the standard Eggs w/ ham, bacon or sausage. Coffee is good too. Fresh & golden hash browns. Their Broasted Chicken is amazing. Always crispy and juicy. On Mondays, they have 2 for 1 Broasted Chicken all day. You can't beat that. Today: Taco Salad with grilled chicken instead of hamburger. Deed Fried Tortilla Bowl freshly made, perfectly crispy. Taco Salad is beans, meat, salad cheese w/ salsa on the side. It was HUGE. Salsa was a bit bland (I like it hot -- so there are 2 different Mexican hot sauces on the table and I just added a lot of that). There was almost too much meat. Very generous slices of Grilled Chicken. Overall, it was good & too much to eat. Today's special Black Angus Burgers w/ fries $5.95. Today: We had Western burger comes with bacon, cheese and onion rings (on the side). BBQ Sauce. French Fries. This is a usual western burger, but big & juicy hamburger. Both the onion rings & fries were hot out of the fryer. Today: Cup of chili topped with onions & cheese. Good, but typical chili -- nothing original-- just hearty and yummy. Today : Cobb Salad loaded with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers -- blue cheese crumbles on the side; Ranch Dressing on the side. HUGE. DESSERTS- homemade pies -- usually apple or berry. Cheesecake, fruit cheesecake, delicious chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse inside & top. Coconut Cream, Banana Cream, Chocolate Cream. Hot Fudge Sundaes. Banana Splits. Today we had cherry pie. It had the usual cherry filling but the pie crusts here are always good & flaky. Service was prompt, and portions slightly larger than expected. The only "grumble" was that there were so many choices for pie that I just told our server to surprise me. Damn good greasy spoon. You get a crapton of food for just a few bucks. The burgers are decent; the steaks could be better, but for a Sizzler-esque place you still get a decent piece of meat. And Sierra Nevada pints or pitchers. Good place for all-day breakfast; they have huge tables for groups or you can sit at the grill, which I always appreciate for that truck-stop diner kinda feel. When I moved to Chico I heard so many great reviews of this place. The first time I ate there I wondered if these people that gave me the rave reviews had ever experienced truly good food. The fried food is greasier than fast food, the salad is worse than any bagged salad I have ever bought from a grocery store, the breads are dry, the pie is mediocre. The coffee is good but don't get the French roast, apparently they brew it in the morning and it sits and gets stale all day because no one orders it. Since the dining experiences I have met people that formerly worked there and heard the worst stories. Stories about raw chicken breasts ending up in the bin with salad greens, rotting turkey carcasses collecting flies in the kitchen, and tons and tons of health code violations, red tickets from the health department. I am surprised they are still open considering all of the various violations I have heard about... I will never eat there again and feel bad for the car loads of people that I see lining up every time I drive by. read more

If you are meat lover and a senior citizen this is your spot. The 4 chicken strips were some of the smallest I've ever seen and should have been more accurately called nuggets. The vegetable soup I was served amounted to about 1 cup's worth and the salad was nothing but lettuce and croutons. Seriously, how is lettuce and croutons a salad? I would have to be 110 lbs. to have gotten full on my "dinner." The food is mostly good, don't get me wrong, it just lacks quantity and recipe. They have a largish looking menu, but once you take away the breakfast selections and senior menu it is mostly just burgers. Cozy needs a menu makeover with more selections. I've been to plenty of diners that have a better selection and more unique food. Took my friend here for a birthday brunch and her daughter last weekend they were pretty busy. I have to say the staff was still very friendly and after we got our food which was great by the way our waitress came and checked on us frequently. I luv Cozy Diner! It was my Dads favourite place when he was alive and I still luv coming here over the fancy places around town. Just great food , great staff and above all else great customer service. This was a bummer meal got the 4 piece chicken dinner for my birthday it was dry and shrunken the croutons were bland and the soup was like something I could make in a can at home. Called to let them I didn't finish the meal and what was wrong with it , manager said if I had let them know last night he could have done something well folks I am home bound so all my food has to be brought to me. The manager didn't care that my birthday meal was ruined nor did he care that I'm no longer going to eat food from there. Stay clear folks it's all bad. read more
