I had Cox when I lived in Tempe a few years ago, due to a lack of options. Every time one of my neighbors moved out, they would shut off MY service. I had to schedule a tech to come out just to have my service turned back on. I moved away from Tempe, then moved back and signed up with Cox a second time, because of a lack of options again. This time things worked fine for a couple of months until my connection got really spotty and unreliable. Online chat told me my modem was bad. Three modems later, one tech visit ($75,) and my connection is still unreliable, so it's not my modem. I am canceling my account today, because even though the alternative doesn't look very good, I'm guessing it's still better than Cox. read more

Walked in and saw about 40 people ahead of me. To my surprise the handful of workers got through the crowd quickly and I didn't have to wait nearly as long as I thought I would. Biggest disappointment was the lady that helped me had no idea about an online promotion and couldn't give me the price I saw online. I even showed her the website on my phone. What I got instead of the promotional price was a phone number followed by a 45 min wait while listening to the same 30 secs of the most annoying song in phone history when I got home. Bait and switch? I doubt it, and I don't blame the store staff. The store experience, what I checked into, was exceptionally more pleasant than I expect. If I could check into and leave a review for the phone experience I would leave zero stars and use every angry face emoji in the catalog. Way to go store employees, kudos. read more

Cox has been nothing but a nightmare to work with. They are the masters of bate and switch regarding their wonderful bundle plans. I was quoted a price of 150.00 month and my first bill was 450.00. I have been working with Cox since October to correct the problem. The only solution was to cancel everything except basic local channels and move to Century Link for internet and use my Fire Stick to stream HBO and Showtime. Beware of anything quoted, if it sounds too good to be true it is. I am shocked that they have not been investigated by the FCC for fraudulent practices. This review has nothing to do with this store location, but the company itself. I have been with Cox for over a year now, and have had minor problems. Maybe two occasions where my internet has been down for 2 hours tops. However, I recently noticed that my monthly bill had increased over $20 a month. I understand in the grand scheme, $20 is not a large sum of money. I was shocked that I was never informed that my rates were to increase. After calling customer service I was told there was no offers to reduce my bill to its original price however, "for $2 more we can give you faster internet, but you have to add a landline". After explaining three separate times that I DID NOT want a landline added to my bill, I inquired about canceling my services completely. Customer care could have cared less, no questions on why I was canceling or any offers to help keep me as a customer. It is clear Cox does not have "loyal" customer at heart. If you are looking for a company that promotes "great deals" up front only to jack up the price months down the road, Cox is for you. read more

I originally called Cox for help in reducing my bill for strictly financial reasons. I had a bundle of cable w HBO/internet/telephone, am single, became unemployed and my package was definitely around the top of the list for things to cut. I called them THREE times to pursue how I could reduce my bill. Each time was 15 minute voyage ending up with a sales pitch on how great my current deal is and how there is no room for further discounts! Tonight I tried the online chat function on their website. Explicitly asked if they could cancel/terminate my service. After 4 exchanges, got sent to the phone tree again to listen to another scripted sales pitch. This company is totally deaf to the needs of their customers! My once financial decision turned into an emotional, service-based decision. Four chances, hours of wasted time... this was an easy decision. I'd rather be in the dark than deal with this incompetence any more! read more

Review for 6 months in internet service, not this location. I had centurylink DSL for years, decided to switch to cox for faster service. I got my modem and hooked everything up (used to have cox cable years ago). Got fast speeds and seemed to work well for about a week. I kept having the internet cut out off and on for multiple times a day and random times. Called cust service and they were able to see that this was happening and sent out a tech in 48 hours. Tech redid all the lines and appeared to work. About 3-4 days later, off/on again service, like before. This time they said to replace the modem. I did and I then again keep having the problem. I ended up just using my verizon hotspot more the time for my wifi need and cancelled my service. Back on centurylink for 3 weeks now, and never had a wifi problem since. Not sue who to blame, but they wold not fix the problem. read more

My second experience visiting the in-store location for Cox customer service was much better than my first (which would have rated 1 star if Yelp were around then...) I had logged into yelp just as I sat down in the busy lobby (on a Saturday at about 12P). The reviews were mixed, but I read them all to see which I would end up getting. From the reviews, I could have expected delays, incompetence, and apathy. Instead, I was helped within 5 minutes of being there. Although the lobby had many people in there, apparently they were all waiting for someone(?). Regardless, I double-checked before I stepped in front of the others who were waiting... Rob was my customer service agent. I had two relatively simple transactions. Return a cable box and diagnose my DVR unit. Both were handled in about 4 minutes. My only concerns were: cox.net website indicates that the service center is at 833 W Broadway - which it is not. There's a Cox Communication car there - but nothing else to indicate that the site moved. So I spent 10-20 minutes driving each nearby shopping center searching for the store, because there was at least one Cox car out there leading me to believe it was right there. I had to call customer service to get the new address :| Then, when I got to the new address, there was no signage on a building. I had to look for the Cox trucks and little flags outside. Even then, there was nothing to direct me to the south side of the building where the actual office door is. When I mentioned this inside, they knew all about it and were apologetic. Apparently these guys are not in charge of the web-site. They can only resolve cable box issues quickly, not update the web-page quickly. They told me that the office will be moving again soon - so that might explain the lack of signage outside. (my prior experience was 45 minute wait where there was one agent in a room that was slightly larger than my closet. There was a line wrapped around inside - and the agent wasn't giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, he challenged everything and made the wait even longer...) read more

I was blown away by Cox's deceptive advertising and business practice. We are moving to Mesa from Show Low for the winter so I looked up Cox and saw they had a TV, H.S. Internet, and phone bundle for 89.99. When I called to order they didn't know anything about a 89.99 special so I read it to the person right off their site. He put me on hold then came back and said there was an additional charge for the equipment. I read him the special again and said it does not say anything about additional charges so he put me on hold again. This time he came back and said click on the special and put in your zip code as the offer is different in different areas. The new offer was 119.00, and with an additional TV it would be 123.00 plus local tax. We finalized the order and set the install date. I rec'd an email saying my credit card did not go through and I needed to call. When I did I rec'd a diff. person who wasn't interested in my card but wanted to review the order. Upon review the pkg was right but he said the price was 167.00 a month. I said no it's 123.00 plus tax to which he responded well that's 123.00 plus tax, plus applicable gov. fees which brings it to 167.00. I asked what the applicable Gov. fees were and he said he didn't know. I cancelled the order and will tell everyone I know about how Cox does business. read more

Very good installation service. I'm just giving you heads up that besides removing objects away from the area where the cable imputs are at it you want to have cable input and install it in bedroom, remove value items or item that you feel it's very private out of closets if you have input right next to closet. Sometime they have to use the inner closet to make installation easier for them. read more

Cox service is the worse, had them out three times and was charged $45 each time and problem still exist, I called to let them know the problem was not caused from my lines but in the congestion of the area and they still charged me, problem was never fixed. DO NOT USE COX. - False charges and terrible customer service!! (and I usually only write positive reviews, see my other reviews) I placed an order online for TV and Internet, and then went into the store to pick up the equipment, the salesman said there was no record of the sale or charges. I checked my account he was correct that there was not a charge, so he "took care" of me. (this is where I should have just walked out) I was going to get the TV and Internet bundle, he informed me that there would be an installation fee and I would have to buy a router, or, I could upgrade to the, "triple play bundle" which would include a phone, but would also include the router and would waive installation fees. I agreed as the savings upfront was important than the extra $10/month. He then proceeded to give me the router and other equipment, and set up an appointment for the tech to come out and install. Tech came out, all was well. Except, 3 months later when the router (which constantly lost connection) finally died. I called Cox to set up an appointment and they notified me that there would be a charge for the service since I had decided to use our own router. But wait, I did not use our own router, I used the one they gave me. As it turns out the salesman never made a note or any record at all indicating that he gave me a router. I spent HOURS on the phone explaining this to them and finally, after calling several different numbers reached someone that "agreed" and told me there would NOT be a charge and that I was using their router. I set up an appointment and the tech came out, he investigated and found that the router was faulty and the issue was not my fault, and replaced the router. I verified again with him, that this was their router, not mine, and that there would not be a charge since it was not my fault. He agreed with this, and went on his way. A few days later I received a bill in the mail charging me $49.95 + tax and fees for a service charge. I e-mailed Cox and was told that since I used my own router I had to pay a fee. I explained to them again that this was not my router, the salesman gave it to me, they told me again, since it was my router and there was no indication it was given to me that I would be paying for it. The only conclusion that I can come to is that the salesman needed to sell the Triple Play Bundle so gave me a router (known to be faulty? returned by someone who was renting it?) and never made a note about this, as he was probably not supposed to it in the first place. Now I am stuck in this situation and have spent HOURS with them trying to get it changed so it shows the router was given to me, and to get the fee waived. No one has been helpful, their customer service has been terrible. I have called several numbers, e-mail and did the online chat. They are scam artists, and have HORRIBLE service. DO NOT USE COX!!! I am finally contemplating switching to Century Link. We pay 100.00 a month for lan line phone, and internet. We have had Cox for 25 plus years. They want premium $$$ for less than premium service. I have have Cox to our house 4 times in the LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. Every tech tells you something different!!! We had multiple issues at our condo and called Cox to resolve them. After a significant run around with speaking with multiple people on the phone we convinced them that a technician needed to come to our house to get the issues resolved. After visits by two separate technicians our issues were not solved. It was clear that these technicians did not know what they were doing and those visits were a waste of time. This company represents itself as a communications company, it lacks the very thing it claims, after calling about an evident bait and switch scheme where my Conture TV service has now omitted the Sci Fi channel spontaneously unless I further upgrade its plan after watching it for two weeks solid... In a apparent scheme to facilitate me too "upgrade" after being sold a bill of goods by Scott who set uo the service. I am discontinuing its service entirely. The second rep I called "to cancel" swore to fix this issue after "admonishing me that my ire was unfounded. " he was offended at my disgust in cox" I said ok if you can provide the original deal I will stay... and after being asked to wait a few hours per him I find that the Sci Fi channel still remains in remiss in the line up available to me yet again... This after watching Si Fi it for two weeks when I first signed up as a "package deal"... Its in the second week of my subscription still now still mysteriously unavailable. It was suggested by Cox that I "changed " the service... which I did not! Mind you this was all a fixed explained package deal from the get go, I just needed to wait a few hours for the changes to take place was the last comment from Scott...And having done so... From day one, Cox Internet has been a complete headache and inconvenience. Of course, the first time we called them for their services, they were friendly and nice because they wanted us to get the highest quality internet available. My boyfriend and I decided to get just the basic internet service that they provided. We scheduled a day and time for them to come out and install the necessary equipment. My boyfriend took off work so that he could be at home for when Cox Internet was SUPPOSED to arrive; however, Cox Internet never came. We called and tried to see if they would still come out the same day because my boyfriend had taken off of work to be at home, but it wasn't possible so we had to reschedule for another day. This time, I myself took off of work. They came about an hour and 15 minutes late and sent a complete idiot to come and install the necessary equipment. First, he wasn't able to install the equipment in the room that I had preferred. Why, because he couldn't figure it out so instead of wasting even more time letting him try to figure it out, I choose another room. After him going back and fourth through my house, he finished installing the router and our wireless router (which they charged us $70 for when I was initially told $50). I was so glad to finally have internet... but just after an hour of having internet, the service went out. I turned off the equipment and restarted it, in hopes that my service would run smoothly again. For the next 3 hours, I had to restart the equipment over 15 times. At that point, I decided to finally call Cox Internet back and see why my brand new equipment and service was not running smoothy. They then sent out the same idiot to come and figure out what was going on. To my surprise, the wireless router (that we paid $70 for) had already broken. Really, Cox Internet? So he installed another brand new router in hopes that the problem would be fixed. The internet finally did stay on, but the speed my boyfriend and I had chosen was subpar at best. After a couple weeks of using this mediocre internet speed, we decided to upgrade. Now, we were already on this new promotion plan of paying $19.95 a month for any speed of internet for 6 months. When my boyfriend called to upgrade the speed, he was reassured multiple times that we would still be able to pay this $19.95 rate for any speed. For less paper bills, we decided to let Cox Internet automatically take out payment from our account every month. When the next month rolled around, my boyfriend checked the account and what do you know .. not only were we charged the $19.99 for the promotion, we were also charged an additional $59.99 for the speed of internet we had chosen when we upgraded. When my boyfriend tried to call and dispute the charges, it was a complete and utter nightmare. The customer service representative he had spoken with was rude, incompetent and was not seeing what we wanted to happen, happen. It took over half an hour of ranting to finally get this guy to understand what had happened to begin with. Cox Internet had overcharged us $60, which then made us not able to pay our car insurance on time, and they had the audacity to say, "I'm sorry we took that extra $60 out of your bank account so here, let me add a credit to your bill for next month". How dare they. They took money from us that they never should have taken in the first place, and they wanted to keep it? After ranting for another 15 minutes about it and threatening to cancel our service, the customer service representative finally agreed to give us our refund and let us know it would take about 3 to 5 business days before we got our return. This happened SEVEN BUSINESS DAYS ago. We still have not seen our money returned to our bank account and now we have a $30 credit on our account. IF ANYTHING, there should be a $60 credit on our account and now we can't even call to discuss it because they are closed on Sundays. Both my boyfriend and I work 9 - 5 jobs and do NOT want to deal with the BULLSHIT that Cox Internet has put us through during our lunch breaks. All Cox Internet has done for us is cause headaches and take our money for the shittiest internet service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Do yourself a favor and do not ever spend a single penny of your money at Cox Residential Digital Solutions. It would be a huge waste of your money and a huge waste of your time that you will never get back. Cox Internet will be hearing from my boyfriend and I and we WILL be canceling our service and taking our business to a MUCH BETTER competitor. read more

This solutions store is not even worth calling if you have a problem, you would do better just calling the remote customer support. Every time I speak to this solutions store, their employees are short and don't really seem to care to solve your issues, but the remote employees have always gone above and beyond to help me. I had a problem with my internet which turned out to be a deeper issue, resulting in a system restore of my computer, and the remote Customer Service stayed on the phone with me for almost an hour to make sure it worked. Fixing my computer trouble is not part of their job description, but this person stayed on the phone and talked me through it anyway. I received a call from Monica a sales rep stating I qualify for Gigablast service. She said there is no additional cost, no installation fee, and no commitment. Since I was already Cox customer I qualified for the free upgrade of service. I scheduled an install date of 3/22... I received a call today and Cox claims the conduit running to my house is ubstructed and this will delay the upgrade 1 to 2 months. The rep then informs me there is a 2 year contract I must sign to get this service. I explained that is not what the sales rep told me (Monica) . In fact, this was not disclosed at all. I said I was not going to sign a contract, and the rep told there is a way I can still get the service if I pay $100 installation free. Also not disclosed by sales rep. I was told free modem, free installation, and no other commitment. I define having to sign a 2 year contract as a commitment. I'm going to review this location not All of Cox. I just went in to sign up for their high speed internet.... I had looked on the website and spoken to a csr on the phone but I like instant gratification so I figured I'd check out the store. Basically the store rep flat out lied to me. Right now they have a plan that includes phone service and the internet for less than internet access alone if you sign a contract for 2 years. after than the price goes up. He told me the price was only for one year with or without a contract, and he was kinda a dick about it when I asked him to clarify. Also My wife pays the bills so I asked him to authorize me on the account. he didn't we were halfway through the process so I let it slide and called their customer support when we got home. With in 5 minutes we were switched to the 2 year price and I was added to the account. I would call the store and complain but no one answers that number. I've been here twice. Once was to drop off some old equipment and the next time it was to make sure my service would be upgraded properly. The website gave me the false impression that I would need to pick up a $20 Self-Installation Kit (coax cable, ethernet, have plenty...) but the guy at the store was nice enough to help me get everything satisfied on his end (electronic records) and let me know I wouldn't need any further equipment. Both times were quick, painless transactions and I appreciated the speed with which they were handling customers. Unfortunate to see they have a bad review but my experiences were positives. read more

Cox shut off my internet connection without notifying me because they said they got a notice from HBO that I was downloading a video that belongs to HBO. I monitor my network traffic and I have proof that I was not downloading that file when HBO said I was. The person at Cox I spoke to said HBO sent them proof that I was downloading that video "because they had my IP address" Cox refused to send me a copy of that proof. Cox said they can and will continue to shut down my internet when they get a notice from HBO. I had been a Cox customer for 15 years and I have never had a problem like this until two days ago. read more

I had great service at the Tempe Marketplace Cox retail store today. I had to drop off my dvr and change my phone service so I drove down to the Cox store. As I entered there was a service representative there to greet me. He took the dvr, walked over to the counter and made the changes in immediately. I think that I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The representative was both courteous and efficient. read more

It is very concerning to see all these complaints posted below. I purchased a home in Mesa in Feb. of 2016. I have had several issues with the svc. I paid for the preferred plan $65 a month. I was told by the sales reps and cox online that entry level svc would be more than sufficient.I went a step higher to try and prevent any issues.(David Ortiz the manger servicing the Mesa area) has been made aware of the issue constantly and failed to fix the problem. He assured a solution, sent out 2 installers and the 3rd time came out personally with a field tech. First, they reinstalled, second they tried a dual band modem in which they wanted to charge me an additional $7 a month for and third when David Ortiz (SVC Manager Mesa) came out with Joshua (Field Tech Mesa) they ran another line through my attic, removed the modem from the spare room and placed it out on the entertainment center and hard wired 3 devices (TV/Surround Sound/PlayStation)assuring me this would fix the issue.Leaving only my notebook and cell phone running off wireless. Cox online customer service has issued a credit for a portion of my bill the last 2 months. They have created a (few) field service escalation tickets with specific documentation of the multiple issues, that were sent to the AZ location. They(Cox Customer SVC) have no idea why this issue has not been resolved. The online techs have agreed on two different occasions there is an issue with the connection and the svc tech needs to come back out. I was told by (David Ortiz Mesa Manager)that (Charlie Foster regional manager AZ) or (Brian AZ) no last name given would be contacting me for a solution and follow up.David even stated I am in a low volume area and my service should be great!However, he has failed to put me in contact with any of his supervisors. I am still being charged and the problem is not fixed. I'm still having all the same issues! Slow notebook and phone connection, constant pause and buffering during the streamlining of any online movie viewing or music. (pandora,amazon prime, netflix) If you are in the East Valley and recognize any of these names, I caution you to do your research. I'm still waiting for a solution and will be forwarding this email to the Better Business Bureau. As a new customer I am extremely disappointed, they have taken more time and caused more issues then I have ever imagined possible. I recently had to call Cox because my online speed had fallen way below what I had signed up for. Cox came out multiple times and identified several problems which they fixed. What they didn't do was inform me they reset my cable modem to the factory settings which lets anyone who knows this value access to my system and they changed my wireless access password. This would not have been an issue had they told me they had done this but because they didn't I ran for one week with virtually no network protection and suffered a series of unexplained issues because of it. After wondering why my PCs were not running as expected and had obvious malware and viruses it dawned on me that the network access had been compromised. It took me the better part of one day to clean up the systems and reconfigure my modem and for this I knocked Cox down from what would have been five stars to two. This is a very serious security breach and there was no reason the tech didn't inform me. This is a warning to other Cox customers to check your modem following any in person visit from Cox to ensure your personal settings are still in force and/or question the tech whether they changed your settings without your knowledge. read more
