I have been with Cox for over 20 years. They provide excellent internet service, usually. 2 years ago I was paying around $50 a month for internet services. My current bill was $150. It tripled in two years. I called customer service and talked to some Indian who went by the name of "Mike". He assured me my bill was going to be lowered to $66 a month, which to me is fair. My problem is that unless I called and made some noise they would keep jacking my rate. As soon as I complained they lowered the lowered the rate. Just a scam. Worst customer service ever on the phone! We have 20 years of experience with Cox Cable and the price just keeps going up. When you call to lower the price, the may go down about $20. Then several months later it goes right back up. We finally cancelled service. That rep was nice and of course tried to win us back with lower prices. Nope our minds are made. We will get a check for the balance. However in reviewing our address, it was incorrect. We called Cox and the rep could not change anything because our account was closed!!! Is this not ridiculous?? I finally was able make changes online. There's several companies providing the internet service now in the area which was not the case 20 years ago. We are using one of them and are much happier. The worst ISP ever. (And I have over 15 years of experience with them) Dog sat at my friends house with Centurylink fiber and had 500mbs down and up. Back at my house with Cox "fiber" and I'm back to 100 mbs down and 15mps up. Don't forget the frequent packet loss and 15-30 minute outages several times a day. I complained to the FCC in 2024 and they sent out a couple trucks to "fix" the nodes that were overwhelmed because of construction but we are still here in 2025 with appalling service. Customer service replies rotate from blaming you, blaming your equipment or turning off the support line when there's an outage. Only when I reached out to the FCC did something happen. Arizona corporate commission could care less about the Centurylink/Cox duopoly in Phoenix. Get Centurylink or Google fiber if you can. Cox will ruin your day. read more

Expensive and out of control. I was told the only way to reduce my bill was to sign up for the Cox Cellular Phone service for a discount on all other serviced. In other words, I believe that Cox is increasing monthly service bills in the hope that a customer will sign up for an unwanted cellular phone service. I switched over for the iohone promo and never got it. Transfer pin they gave me did not work and my issue was in the notes. When I finally was able to transfer they said I was late by 1 day so tough luck. I've worked in customer service and have never heard such a thing where they basically tell you "nobody will help you and sh&t happens" its crazy. Nobody should switch to Cox. Tried to disconnect service and use the chat and that was painfully slow that I ended the chat as I was 15 min and they take 3 mint for each response and by 15 me had still not established that I was in fact their customer so they could start the service disconnect. But they kept interjecting questions about adding services and how many computers or items connected. Such total BS. Then tried online and I am another 14 min here listening to horrific music and still no human on the line. All other utilities have it so you can self service and cancel on your own in 2 minutes but not COX. This is beyond frustrating. They are a big fat zero!!! Totally disgusted with them! Replaced Arizona Networks with Cox after Arizona Networks speed degrade and lots of latency forced me to look for alternatives. There are not a lot of choices where we live in Florence. A couple of phone calls and saying NO to their mobile service got me a decent rate and fast install. Their mobile service piggybacks on Verizon cellular that has poor service in our area. The install time came and went with no tech. He showed up late but did a decent job on the installation. I used the iPhone and tweak the network setup to my liking. If you run multiple networks like I do, each network name has to be unique. Chat GPT AI was my best friend fixing a couple of problems. Very fast connections now with more than enough bandwidth for my home. I like having fiber all the way to router from the backbone. Their communications be better especially dispatch for techs. About the worst cable service I've ever had. I've used Spectrum. I've used DIRECTV. These people are clowns and they really should be driven out of this town after having one service call to locate the router which is in the garage. It was decided by the technician that the router should be moved to a location inside the house closer to the backyard. We scheduled a time one to 2 PM in August the hottest time of the year. The technician shows up, not his fault, saying he can't go into an attic in the afternoon. I tell him everybody knew this was a router change Location from the garage into the home, which would require going into the attic. Why in the heck they would schedule an afternoon call and Made me wait all afternoon for this tech to show up only to send him away within two minutes. We'll schedule you tomorrow for 8 to 10 I said 10 o'clock 10 o'clock you won't be able to get in the attic. It'll be too hot. You better make it eight OK 8 to 10 he says. Whatever.! I concur with most of the complaints here. I've had Roadrunner, Adelphi and Spectrum, and all were hands-down 500x better than Cox, which sucks its namesake. We're having Connection Fiber install their wares in our community in Mesa. Once done, probably in November, I'm returning my modem to Cox and washing my hands of them. When they try to pressure me into staying with them, which they RELENTLESSLY do, I will calmly state that a) they have my modem, b) I've taken video of my dropping it off with them, and c) I am no longer paying my bill. read more

Cox is horrible. Once a promo is up they treat their loyal customers like crap and you have to fight so hard to get another deal. We had some miscommunication with cox and thought we fixed the issue but they charged us $165 a month for the past 3 months and when I found out after calling every month they said there is nothing they can do about decreasing the rate. I would give Cox zero stars. System completely died, called Cox to send out a tech to replace-upgrade and they show up with NO equipment, fixed nothing. There service is poor, There customer service is beyond terrible. They want to take advantage of there customers and cheat them out of there money. Each month my bill kept going up and up I could not understand why. Example from July to Aug my bill went from 189.21 to 199.45 with no explanation of understanding as to why. Then when I closed and went to another company they said they took off 117.45 and there was a remaining balance of 81.64. The bill had no break down of why or how they came to this number. Started a chat with a customer service tep, explained issue, he sent an email to take a selfie and to show valid identity, completed. Rep would not reset acct and give a temporary pass word. Over 30 min in the chat. Called and my wife did not know the answers to the security question, so they would not assist her, she works out of state on assignment. They are requiring her to come into a office to get a refund. I spent 45 min on the phone explaining that she is out of town, they sent a email saying we cant get a refund. Certain apartment buildings only encourage to connect Cox as sole internet provider, which pushed clients like me to assume that Cox is a trusted networ. I was at this N Scottsdale Cox Store yesterday. After a 2 hour wait I encountered an extremely rude and arrogant customer service representative by the name of Bryce. First, he started asking for my personal information amidst all the the many people also waiting. I asked nicely if we could move to one of the two open desks avaible to review my personal information and issues. He flatly said, " NO". Then I requested his assistance in providing a new package because my existing plan would be expiring next Monday. Bryce then stated he couldn't make any changes/ updates to my plan until my current plan expired next week. Meaning I needed return to the store and wait another two hours before I could change my plan. Bryce just didn't want to help at all. Again, he was extremely rude, arrogant and non caring. They never mentioned this once. This lack of transparency feels incredibly predatory. I called 10 days after intall, they reset modem, we went through channels, i told her i wanted to cancel service. 1 month later i received bill, they were still charging me. Again told them i cancelled service. No money back garantee. 10 days, and i owe over 500.00, 200.00 instalation, to literally plug in tv, and hook up modem. Sent me to retention. That was an absolute joke, kept me on phone for 40 minites. I told him, there was nothing they could do to keep me.
