Cox cable service is total garbage. The lineup totally sucks, the picture quality is extremely poor and not even true HD quality compared to other services. They need to remove the stranglehold in the area and allow us to use other providers, other than satellite providers. GO AWAY COX! Yes Cox, leave the area! Remove the stranglehold in Chula Vista and take your service else where. Your pricing totally sucks, it is just to damn confusing and you charge too much for what you provide. We moved into a new house six weeks ago. We called Cox cable to install cable and Internet service in our home. The installer came and began to install the connection. I told him that home was prewired for fiber optic cable. The installer informed me that Cox did not offer a fiber connection. However this is incorrect because they do offer a fiber connection which is called a giga blast. The installer connected our wireless Wi-Fi and set up our TV. Fast forward six weeks and I noticed another Cox installer across the street. I noticed that he was there for an appointment and I go speak with him. He tells me that he is installing fiber optic cable. These installers have their head up their ass and they are not even aware of what their company has to offer. I always heard the Cox cable was much better than Time Warner but to be honest you still get the same shitty service and installers who are seemingly unaware of what their company can offer customers. read more

I would have never imagined a company so big , wouldn't be able to handle the smallest of things. I recently switched from cox because i no longer wanted to have them as my cable provider and because I was moving houses. So before I moved houses, I called them 2 months in advance and told them I wanted my service disconnected. The person on the phone said ok, we will take care of it. I went and paid a balance that was due for the month in which was going to be my last one. Well they ended up not canceling my service and I received another bill on my last month at my old house. I went inside the store and told them , that I called and cancelled , and they said they had no notes or anything. But asked if I would like to continue my service to my new house. I said NO! Long story short , they send me to collections for 40 dollars ! I do not know where 40 dollars could come from , but I guarantee that I'm taking all my friends and family to direct TV! read more

I love that Cox has better service than AT&T & is relatively the same price if not slightly more affordable. My favorite part is they don't bind you into a contract, trapping you into paying a $100 cancellation fee if heaven forbid you move to an apartment that doesn't use them. Cox Cable -OMG, how bad can it get? I'm not a fan of AT&T and switched to Cox because AT&T "forgot" (their words...) to ship a replacement modem when mine went out. However, AT&T was a dream compared to Cox. Why? Cox "holds" all email that doesn't have the Cox extension (ie., ABC@COX.NET) If you forward email from anyother provider, such as gmail, hotmail, or (in my case) ATT.NET, you won't get it in your inbox for 24 hours or more...if ever. I contact Cox to inquire why they hold my non-COX email and got a lame excuse about "spam" and their "right to insure all email is legit". In other words, tough, dude. Use our email address or stuff it. So I"m left with a decision - hope and pray that job search emails make it through, or switch back to AT&T (my only other alternative where I live...) I have been a loyal Cox customer for over 23 years and while not perfect their service have been good and their customer support has been helpful ... until these last few months.. I started getting billed for pay per view that no one in my household including myself ever uses. They credited my account the first time I called. After experiencing the same thing almost every month they refused to reverse the charges and they started treating me like dirt every time I called for the same reason. They keep saying that there is no way that the shows were not ordered from our box. This is even after their own Technical Support confirmed that the last time we had pay-per-view was in 2012. Twice I had "Supervisors" hang up on me while I am in the middle of a sentence. When I called back they refused to talk to me and whoever picks up the phone says the "Supervisor" entered notes saying they will not reverse the charges because I have called several times already. I pay Cox close to $300 a month including TV, Internet and phone. They treat me like I am trying to cheat them of $13 and sometimes more. I have had it with this company. Loyalty does not mean anything to them. read more

OK, had to post this because the video quality has reached new lows. I'm watching one of the four major networks, and it's almost unwatchable due to over-compression, with weird artifacts and blurs. I know cable companies have limited bandwidth, but seriously, I'd be shocked to see such poor quality deep into the triple-digit stations -- but on a major network in prime time? I was ready to give this place a bad review. Cable companies and bad reviews go together right? I had to go here to return a rented router - I have to save a few bucks you know. The visit was pleasant from the moment I walked in the door. There was a person to help me at the door and two others ready to help. When I first approached the place, a lady was walking up at the same time, and I let her go in first since I am a gentleman. That lady was attended to immediately and I had to wait another 5 seconds before I was next. The return of the router took about 30 seconds more as the guy typed the serial numbers and confirmed my address. In and out of there in less than about 4 minutes if I exaggerate a little on the time. Nice job, Cox ... you surprised me with your excellent service. Keep it up! read more

Dealing with Cox has not been a great experience on the whole and this store did not help. But I was stuck with them because my apartment complex has a contract with them. This store was my main point of contact and it just took too damned long to talk to someone and set up the service. There's always a crowd and the lot is always close to full. When my service was activated, everything inside the box was wrong, the passcodes and serial numbers and in the end I had to call customer service and spent 2 hours on the phone, mostly waiting. When i finally had my service disconnected, I came back to this store to return the gear, but it was such a long wait, I decided to go to a store closer to my work the next day. The girls at the front, whoa re very nice, said that this store is always packed because they serve all of south bay, and that the others wouldn't be so bad. I started getting the message about Cox going digital as TV channels were disappearing from TV. Ironically my bill had gone up by $30. I tried to get info online and that was a waste of time. I called the number on the TV message and was placed on hold for 45 minutes. When I finally got a service rep they were not helpful and told me that a service rep would have to come to my house and I would have to pay $75 if the problem was my fault. When the rep came he discovered Cox did not hook me up correctly in 2014 and did not give me a remote I learned I needed. So since August 2015 I have been paying $30 a month more for channels I never had access to and was never informed that my bill was going up. I will be looking for other options. The one bright spot was the service rep who came to my home was awesome! read more

5 stars for customer service no stars to Cox. Cox USE TO have it going on. I went to the store in Chula Vista ready to GO OFF about my bill. Brian Hernandez was the one that assisted me. I HAD TO PUMP MY BREAKS Brian defines the meaning of EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I can't begin to list EVERYTHING he did to help me out. Brian introduced me to Robert the store manager. They both went above & beyond to make sure I was going to leave the store satisfied. Nowadays companies don't care about customer service. It's not a priority. Its sad. So when I come across someone that is eager to help is a BIG PLUS. That's how you get returning customers. Both Brian & Robert solved all of the issues I had with Cox. But whats crazy is that I ended up getting new phone service. Thank you both Cox is really lucky to have you guys as employees. They should re- evaluate your positions. You guys have what it takes to really advance & help out this company that SUCKS! Good luck to you both read more

I just changed my cable to cox from direct tv. It has been a nightmare. They miss quoted me the price by 20$ and would not resolve the problem. I made it through 4 different people and ended up with there supervisor William Paul. he was rude and would not help. I will be canceling this weekend. Be careful dealing with them. read more

The "bundle services" pricing is based on the customer care agent you're speaking with at a particular moment. If you speak with 10 agents you'll get 10 different quotes. However, the company is consistent at charging high rates once the "discount period" is over. read more

Have been with Cox 3 times over the past 25 years, each one has been disappointing. Will pay a pre-contract cancellation penalty to get away from these people. Changing "hardware" after the contract to charge more per month and now have delayed their payment of the reward card promised to the point that it's now beyond "promotion timeframe." Cox communications doesn't deserve 1 star. I've been with cox for a long time now, i would say about 9 years and i don't like leaving bad reviews but this time i just had to. Cox quality service has gone down but not their price, I remember paying just under $90 for bundle phone, cable and internet. Over the last few years they jack up their price pretty much double. I had no choice but to just cancel all my service. Not only I saved $179 a month, I also now enjoy my life outside with friends rather than seating at home watching T.V. shows/playing online games all day. This place has the worst customer service. I was in the process of moving and was still debating whether I wanted to keep the cable. I still had a while until my move out date when a Cox representative called and wanted to cancel my service so the new tenants of the apartment could get their cable ready for when they move in. I told her I still have a while until I move and I am not disconnecting the cable until then. The same representative called again asking when we are going to cancel the cable. REALLY! I pay over $100 every month. I thought it was rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional to call for another customer and ask me to cancel my service for their benefit. I am a PAYING CUSTOMER!!!!! I spoke to another representative when I moved and he stated I should not have received a phone call like that and he apologized. This company needs better training for their representatives. Horrible service at this location. I was trying to get internet service only. I explained the the counter person that's all I wanted and he still offered "the bundle". I explained a second time that I am not interested in "the bundle" and he acknoledged. A few minutes later he offered the bundle again. Frustrated I told him to repeat after me, "I do not want the bundle". I explained that I was not interested in maximizing my savings and that I only wanted internet. I had my credit card in hand ready to buy without even asking about the price. I already knew cox is going to be the best internet service in the area, so my mind was set that I wanted internet service from cox. He finally got to take my credit card info and guess what he said? He said, you know for a few dollars more per month you can have your phone, internet and cable... I just lost it at that point! I took my credit card back and walked out. I still have internet service through cox, and I haven't had any issues with that. My only complaint would be the people that work at the Telegraph location. read more

i just signed up with yelp just to write this. first and foremost their customer service at the office sucks! long lines rude emplyees. i asked (after fussing with my crappy 3g internet on my phone) if i could use one of their MANY computers just chillin around the perimeter of the store to look up my account number and he looked at me pointed to my phone and said "why cant you use that" and rolled his eyes. i work customer service and i know how a long day with brainless customers can go but if i EVER said anything like that with that attitude i would be fired on the spot. secondly we have had constant problems with tiling. and they said it was our tv?!?! ummm pretty sure if it were my tv all the channels would be doing it and we wouldnt be able to watch movies or play the xbox... its only a handful of channels but they are coinsidetally the one that i watch the most...frustrating THEN cox has had people constantly at our apartments for somereason or another making the noise of a 400lb bear running across our roof. one time i was sitting on my couch watching tv minding my own buisness when all of a sudden i hear a TON of noise on the roof...whatever their working on something...then i hear sawing...hmmmm ok?!?! not normal but they know what their doing right??? NOT! next thing i know there is a piece of metal stcking through my cealing. had i been sitting a couple feet to the left i would have beamed in the head. apparantly they were trying to go down through the wall and completely missed (by about 6 ft).they came in and patched up the popcorn roof with some putty and left. i told the apt manager he had them come back out to fix it. they looked at it and would have someone else come out to fix it and i havent heard from them since...that was about 4 months ago...complete waste of employees read more

We have had Cox for 37 years from when it was only TV services. We now have TV, internet and phone services. We just purchased a new flat panel TV with UHD. Last Friday, I picked up the Contour box and upgraded my TV services from Economy to Essential ( I had been away from home a lot for several years caring for an elderly parent). I wanted the Hallmark Channels back. And we are only paying $15. more a month. We installed the TV and everything seemed to work fine except we could not get the HD channels. We spent 30-45 minutes on the phone with a phone tech from Ohio. She was professional and polite and tried to problem solve. She finally suggested we trade in our new Contour box and also made an appointment to for a service man to come out today that could be cancelled if the change in Contour box worked. We were able to get a few HD channels but many we could not get. The service man came this morning within the 2 hour given time frame, He was polite, thorough and professional. The problem was solved when he noticed a filter on the outside line outside of the house. It was removed, This is only the second time we have had a service man from Cox inside our house and that was in the mid 90s to install the internet. The filter might have been placed when we reduced out TV package many years ago and this could not be done digitally. He also replaced some connectors to newer ones and checked our internet access. Anyhow, we now can get all the channels in our package and our whole experience was positive. read more

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO AVOID COMING HERE! Unless you absolutely cannot wait for a replacement part to be sent out to you or cannot wait to get a situation resolved, avoid this place at all costs. This place is worse than the DMV! No parking, always jam packed to the point people have to wait outside the store for service, very slow getting through customers, and just a terrible experience all around. If you are going to the store have 2 hours of free time ahead of you! To be 100% honest, this review is only on the store. Cox service is miles above anyone else in the area, especially compared to crappy u-Verse and Time Warner, but their customer service store is atrocious. I don't know if they need more staff or need to find a way to be more efficient with things but they should really do something to improve this place. They should be focused on getting people in and out but it feels like everything drags on forever here. I know some customers are idiots and its not all their fault but still, come on guys. read more

Most of these "reviews" make me laugh. Someone went as far as to complain about having to reset their own router. Seriously? What does your internet provider have to do with resetting your router? Learn a little more about your equipment before complaining. And there was a complaint about prices going up after a promotion ended, duh? Whoever you have, the non promo rate is going to suck. Call in and get another bundle rate when your original one ends or downgrade. Cox does have local presence, so when you do need help you can at least talk to someone local for the most part. And, the internet service is fast and reliable. As someone who knows how to reset my own router and wants reliable service, Cox is the best option for me. Yes going to the Cox store probably sucks, i wouldn't know because I conduct my business online with them and would probably not go to the store during peak hours, common sense right? Lastly, isn't this supposed to be a review of the retail location? While all the gripes here? Cox does have other drop off locations besides their retail store, so you will probably save time going to another location if that's what you're doing.
