I usually go downtown Seattle to Mayano Nails and Spa, but wanted to find a closer nail salon. I was grocery shopping and thought i would stop in and see what other colors and styles they had. I was hooked already at the different designs, colors and the lady was super friendly. I made an appointment for the next night. I walked in and right away had Jimmy do my nails. I think that is his name, Everyone was friendly and seeing the locals know the employees was comforting. i read a few bad reviews of this place. i am really unsure of what salon they were at. I had previous acrylics and i expect it to hurt, but it did not. I went with 3 colors and it looks amazing. I have heard horror stories of people wrecking the nails. I am still a newbie, but I did not need to get another set of acrylics. SUPER happy and I will be back. I can go after work to get a fill. If I do not feel like beating Seattle traffic, I can go over on the weekends. They are open everyday. Convenient. read more

If you go here, beware. My wife was given a gift card to this location, and her nails turned out pretty cool with a cat's eye look that she was experimenting with. the rest of the experience was garbage. The artist working on her nails, during the massage portion of the experience, caught a towel on my wife's ring and tore off part of the band. Accidents happen, sure, but then she proceeded to charge my wife for the service even though personal property was damaged. I confronted the artist who, after 10 minutes of arguing about it gave us some of the charge back, but since part was paid via gift card, she couldn't refund that. I spoke with the manager the following day who actually sided with his staff saying it was impossible that she broke the ring and tried to simply write it off. After arguing with me about it for a few minutes he gave the full remaining amount back. Though my wife's nails turned out pretty nice, we'll never be going back to them again. Haven't been to Covington nail in a long time. Ever since the nail techs talked crap about my toes ( I have a small big toe injured my leg and tore all my legiments which prevent the growth. It's not a nub, but I'm insecure about it) decided to go get my nails taken off to let my nail beds rest. my normal place I go to was also busy. So I was like I'll give Covington nail another try..WORST DECISION. Made an appointment and was told I'd have to wait 20-30 minutes for the take off. Was about to leave and then the receptionist said she would help me!! They didn't perform the normal process and put my hands in acetone then filed the acrylic off...then when a actual nail tech was available they came of to "help" finish the process...they didn't! I still have acrylic on my nails... yes it was only $10, but didn't cut my nails or make them look nice. After they were done, the nail tech tossed my hand and said have a good day. Covington Nails used to be one of the best service nails salons..the quality had gone down. Just because I didn't ask for a service that was $30+ and got treated like I wasn't important!! Well , Shame on me for not reading the reviews prior to my visit ,,,, I've gone here for over 10 yrs but only go 2-3 x a year for pedicures ,,, I asked for my toes to be painted coral with a white tip , for starters my water was cold then as I'm relaxing in the massage chair I lookup and notice she has my tips white and no coral ,,, at this time before I had a chance to say something , they switch technicians on me ,,, so I mention to the new gal ,,, aren't you supposed to put the base color down first , she goes to first technician and comes back and says you didn't tell her coral then white , I said well that's odd , why would she wait for me to pick a color then ask ,,,, so instead of removing the white tips and starting fresh she proceeds with backfilling the nail with the coral color ,,, very unpleasant outcome ,,, I figure lesson learned , pay , go to my car and think BS. My husband got a basic nail care pedicure done. The technician seemed angry and basically threw his feet around. Little did she know he is a very good tipper (exorbitant if someone is nice/polite/kind to him). Only go here if you want an angry pedicure that will make you feel worse. read more

This is a favorite spot and the only consistent place in south king county that I have been to. They spend time and are very accommodating - I'm indecisive and have changed colors twice after they already started painting. They take their time and the pedi tubs are always cleaned between customers, even the drain cover. They use disposable inserts which is bad for the environment but good for my germaphobia. The atmosphere is always really upbeat and fun, and the people who work there seem happy. Also, my nail polish lasts longer from this spot than from anywhere I've been. read more

Im only giving 3 stars because my daughter LOVES Jimmy and I really like Amy, so thats the reason I didnt give less. I generally go here because they have the Thai Ginger pedicure which I will say is pretty darn good and worth the money. . There are 2 nail techs there that I will not allow to work on me. Amy is pretty great and like I said my daughter loves Jimmy. She will sit and wait until hes available rather than use anyone else. Its your typical nail salon, ok most of the time, and everyone is really nice. BUT what I dont like, is they insist you tip n cash, and push you to go next door to the cash machine to get their tip. Sorry but if I'm paying with my credit card, Im NOT going next door and pulling out cash on my credit card for you. So if you want a tip, you take what you can get. Secondly, they kind of insist on and push for a tip. OK I know thats their bread and butter and thats what they work for. My daughter who is only 15 usually goes with me and one day she went with her friend. She BARELY had enough to cover what she had done, much less a tip. This shoudnt really matter because TRUST ME I am an excellent tipper so the one time my daughter cant afford a tip should be just fine. The girl who did her nails insisted on a tip. My daughter had borrowed a $10 bill from her friend because she was $1 short for her fill. The girl wouldnt give my daughter her change and kept pointing at the little sign on her desk that said "PLEASE TIP IN CASH". She was holding up the money and pointing at it and then the sign and saying "show me how much". Im sorry but this is NOT ok. Tips are not required. Sure my daughter miscalculated and accidentally came up short, and her friend covered her $1. But to push and push for a tip until she finally gave in, thats just unacceptable. By the time i found out about this when my daughter got home the place was already closed, otherwise I probably would have gone down there. Im not saying stay away from this place, they are nice and there are a few that are pretty good and some that are terrible there. 5 years ago, this was the best nail salon in Covington. Great service and good prices. Although the prices haven't risen with the other salons in the area, it now shows in their customer service and the overall quality of the product you receive. It's sad to watch a company become well-known for great service, but because of the influx in clientele, lose what brought those customers in to begin with. I have a regular salon I go to but didn't want to drive there, so me and my mom came here. Never again! The girl I worked with was HORRIBLE. First of all I asked for a colored tip with a simple gold line underneath, and asked that they be cut shorter. She said there was only a tiny bit of gold polish and it was drying out and said I should think about it, and then gave me attitude about asking for the colored tips. We had somewhere to be so I just had her paint all one color. She then proceeded to talk badly about her coworkers, boyfriend, Google and more. Dropping every swear word possible. It was so incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional! She also didn't cut my nails shorter. So then when it was time to pay I gave her my card and tipped in cash cause I was beyond ready to get out of there! As for my mother, she picked one of the designs they had on display, bit when she asked for it, they told her she had to have all her nails removed so new ones could be put on and that it would take too long. So then she asked for colored tips but in the middle of getting her nails done the lady stopped because an appointment came in. So when the new lady came over she had NO idea what was going on. My mom told her what she wanted and shortly after starting, she also quit because another appointment walked in. So when the 3rd lady came over she had no idea what my mom wanted and did a french manicure bit with shellac, costing my mom A LOT more. Then when it was time to finish and my mom paid she was being nice and said $10 tip, and they lady was so freakin rude, she said "that's all? You don't want to add more?" I went here to get mani/pedi's with a friend and our daughters. Mostly because have little kids chairs here. All of the women were so sweet and doted on our daughters. All was good and very relaxing until the owners walked in. She was ranting and raving in a different language, yelling at all the girls working. She was stomping back and forth and tossing things. Completely ruined the experience of trying to relax. Maybe she should hold staff meetings in private to express her problems. I could not wait to get out of there. read more

Worst yet. I had a Shellac manicure and it lasted only a few hours. The gal used a drummel several times on my nails and they are so thin that they are all breaking. I also think she got mixed up and did not apply a top coat but maybe reapplied the base coat? Whatever, my nails are a mess. I call every time and ask if they have an availability and they always say yes so I make the appointment, and I end up waiting 30-45 min. Truly terrible experience - I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to come here. When I got in, I was repeatedly questioned about my payment. While I understand that they are ultimately a business, it is really concerning when I am asked to not only pay before I get my service, but tip as well. Other were right - while they accept card, it is completely expected that you bring a large amount of cash to tip for the service. It's extremely annoying and insulting to have someone hovering over you and essentially criticizing how much you're tipping them for a service not even yet performed. Not only that, but because I chose to do a mani/pedi, I was told to essentially tip each of them for the full cost. There is nothing better than having a woman stare you down for essentially a ~40% total tip. As well, I was treated poorly throughout the experience (despite tipping $20 on a $45 bill - huge mistake on my part). They questioned my choice of French Tips and were extremely rude and prodding with their questions. When I was told off for my foot not bending a certain way and I told them it was from complications prior to birth, the technician starting prodding for more information! So unprofessional. I'll admit, my nails don't look half bad. It just wasn't worth the high cost (even excluding tip), and horrible customer service. Anywhere else in the area would be a better choice. read more

Not impressive. All the chairs and everything looked old. I went in for a manicure and they had me put my hand in a bowl of cold water with marbles in it. No idea what the marbles were for but they looked to be from the dollar store. Not sure why the water had to be cold but it wasn't relaxing at all. It was fairly busy in there so I felt a bit rushed. My polish started chipping off the next day, which basically makes a manicure pointless. I normally go to Queen nails in Maple Valley but my friend and her daughter were getting their nails done and wanted me to meet them. I brought a picture of the shellac I wanted done. She filed my nails so they were sharp on the corners for starters and only put 2 coats on so the tips you could actually see through. The glitter she put on looked horrible so I asked her to fix it. She was done in 10 minutes hence the price. I'll pay more any day to have quality over quantity. It hasn't even been a week and I need them redone. Normally I can go 3 weeks easily when it is done right. I think the gals name that did my nails was named Hannah. I live in Portland and come to see friends in Covington every few months. Covington Nails is always a must on my visits. Their service has always been impeccable and they do amazing work. I strongly recommend the Ginger Thai Pedicure it feels incredible and smells good too. I'm not sure why someone wouldn't rate them as tops in Covington, in a pinch one time we went to another salon and it wasn't even close to as good and I had a chip in my toenail before I even left. The owner here is more about quantity of customers vs. quality. He stacks as many customers as he can without any regard to clients who have booked appointments. Their "salon" is packed with stuff and there is hardly any room to even turn around. If you go to this salon and then go to Bluewater in Maple Valley you will see a HUGE difference when it comes to cleanliness. This place has been in Covington for a long time but the turnover in both employees and customers is quite high. I'm assuming they stay open because they are pretty cheap. So - I happened to want a pedicure before going on a trip with my family. Normally I frequent Gallery nail spa in Covington - but because it was Labor Day, it was closed. The only available place was Covington Nail. First strike - the smell. I know nail places stink...but this was overkill. I felt buzzed after being there 2 minutes. The place itself was dirty and dingy - but the foot spas looked clean, so I risked it. Their selection of polish was pretty crappy (for $23 I expect OPI or better, not dollar store brands). The girls carry the tools around in their aprons...so I really hope they were sterilized (I realized it too late, or I would have requested new tools. Here's hoping I don't get something gross!) The lady who worked on me was rude (barely spoke to me, except to bark orders like "put foot up higher!" but gabbed and laughed loudly with the other girls working).I could occasionally hear her and the other girls complaining about it being a "day off". Not sure what was up with that....but it definitely added to the negative atmosphere. She was very rough in her work - I get doing feet isn't exactly a fun job...but OUCH! She also did a really half-a**ed job, compared to what I usually get at Gallery. And to top it off - the oil she used to rub (slop) on my legs/feet she got all over my rolled up pant legs..so they are nice and permanently stained now too. I feel bad complaining about a luxury like a pedicure...but honestly when I pay my $$ to have a relaxing experience, I expect one. This was anything but. read more

I don't get my nails done often and this was my first time here. The first thing we noticed were the disposable liners in the bowl. When they did the paraffin wax they didn't dip your foot but filled the bag with wax and put on your foot. So much more sanitary than other places I have been and it worked just as well. I get a little nervous about them cutting around my toenails and they can sometime be rough with the file, that was not the case here. They did a thorough job without cutting or causing discomfort. The ladies working there were easy to understand and talked with us. We did not have an appointment but got in right away. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the leg massage could have been a little better. We will definitely go back. read more

This place was awful and I will NEVER be back. I came in to get a pedicure and my shellac manicure redone. First of all, they really struggled with getting the good shellac off that a different salon had done. Most likely because it was high quality and done right, so instead of waiting to soak it off they decided to grind it off with the sander. They ground way past the shellac and into my nails. The whole time the manicurist was commenting on what strong, thick nails I have. Well, that is no longer the case because she ground off the surface of my nails until they were paper thin and bent back and forth with hardly any pressure. In fact they were so thin that is was painful to hit my nails on anything because there wasn't enough nail protecting what's underneath it, they're tender to the touch. All of my long, well maintained nails broke off within a couple days along with the new shellac they put on top. It's now over a month later and I still can't get my nails to grow out past the quick because they quickly break off. read more

She cut them too short and ripped the skin on the end of my finger with the file. Still burning hours later. She talked in Vietnamese the whole time to her other nail techs. My sister and I wanted to get our nails done today and the place we wanted to go to was closed when we got there, so I looked up nearby places and found Covington Nails. It was close and they were open, so we went in. I needed a mani-pedi and she was getting a full set. The woman who did my manicure said her name was Mina and Jenny did my toes. Neither of them said a word to me until They were almost done and I asked for their names. Then they made a little small talk for the last few minutes and it seemed forced. It came time to pay for what was a quick and messy nail job and it was $35! For a plain and simple mani pedi. No flowers or extras, and there is definitely more nail polish on the skin AROUND my nails than there should be for that price. Another woman came by trying to help me get out since I guess they were closing. She lifted up the arm rest on my chair and DROPPED MY PHONE!!!!!!! My droid was on the floor and the back pieces came out and everything!! Needless to say, I'm pissed! I asked her what her name is and she said it was Tracy. She had me turn it on and had my sister call me to see if it worked and yeah, it TURNED ON, and our 5 second phone call went through, but that doesn't mean there was no damage!! She told me if it doesn't work in the next few days to give them a call and that they would "take care of it", whatever that means. I then asked her to acknowledge in writing that she dropped my phone. No way am I going to call with an issue and have them say they don't know what I'm talking about. So then it turned into a huge issue and the owner came up saying she was there she saw what happened and to just ask for her. She didn't want anything to be in writing, saying things like "I'm a business owner, I have honor, you can trust me", which frankly made me trust her even less. I finally got them to agree, probably just because they all wanted to get out of there, and I wrote down a statement and had both Tracy and the owner sign it. On our way out the door, they still had the nerve to say "see you next time". There had better not be any internal damage to my phone, but if there is, they will be paying. read more

My friend has been going here for years and I always forget about it. After popping by my normal place that had 2 girls working and a wait I decided to drive out to Covington to try this place. I called on the way to let them know I would be there in 5-10 mins (in hopes that when I got there I could get straight to a chair). When I arrived at the salon the man I spoke to was waiting for my daughter and I and said "you called right?" then showed us to the pedicure area. I like that they use plastic liners in the foot bath. It had been awhile since my last pedi and being summer and always in sandles and flip-flops my heels were beat up. The lady did a great job getting my feet soft and smooth again. The massage on my legs was a little rough, I feel like my muscles are sensitive or something but I said "that hurts" and she lightened up.
