However, I was catching a flight. Thus, I was rushing around a bit afterwards to get to the airport on time, but I have gotten gel manicures many times before, and this is the first time it chipped so quickly. I came in with someone else, and she had even said she was concerned about her nails chipping because they only put one coat of polish. I guess I was case in point. I called and spoke with them; they requested pictures and took down my number. I did talk to a manager the next day about my experience. However, the manager reiterated multiple times that they do not offer any refunds. Normally, this would be fine, and I would go back in to get them fixed. However, I was only visiting Washington and visit sporadically (not even once per year). All she could offer was a discount or to work something out the next time I visit. I am certainly not hoping that anything will come of this, but I do hope they address this issue in the future so that other people's nails don't chip so quickly, especially because this salon is not cheap. With other nail salon options in the area and given my experience, I will likely not be back. I did give them 3 stars because they at least tried to address the issue (though not satisfactorily) and I did like my nail design. However, given the cost, I would rather go elsewhere in the future.

What I particularly liked about Wendy: I asked her what she thought before telling her my concerns and she immediately identified the issue that I was concerned about and brought up how she could lighten it up and redirect that weight. Additionally, she cuts it dry so she can get a feel for how your hair moves and wants to lay. I also had her foil my hair in the initial visit. She was able to capture the tone of my natural color so the foil sort of blends with my grey almost eliminating that line of demarcation you get as a foil grows out. This means I should be able to go longer between foils or do more partial foils as long as I don't go too light. I've been back once after 2.5 months just for a cut because I didn't need another foil. I was kind of hoping to save money over my previous place and this was about the same or a little more. But it was worth it as I really appreciate Wendy's approach and even more importantly, results! I've been back once for a cut and already booked my next foil.

I was skeptical but it seriously works! I've had more compliments on my hair than I have EVER! While I was in the chair, the new owner came over and introduced herself. She was really friendly and great.

I have been going to this salon for literally years - the new owner Natalie is the fourth owner I've known and is very interested in keeping up with the latest tech. I stayed here through the ownership change because of Mai - she has done my fills, dips, pedis and waxing (and sometimes lashes) for 7 years and she is awesome! I always get compliments on my nails and she is very particular about everything she does and is always concerned that I'm happy with the service. read more

I seriously had the best experience I've ever had a nail salon! I got acrylic fill in done with shellac. Mai is the best! They told me they never heard of it then told me their prices. I booked in the past before via Class Pass and paid extra out of pocket for Gel (understandable!) but was shocked both the owner and daughter of the owner hadn't heard about it. She said she can look in their past books then said we are on Class Pass but are not active with them. I verified with Class Pass support after our phone call and their AI chat did clarify that concierge listed business' may not know. So no fault on them for not knowing but it could have been handled better. This conversation escalated with distrust. Her daughter even said to me "I'm sitting here doing a friend's nails and she can hear me talking" noting "we are listed as concierge." Now not only am I feeling lied to, unheard and not getting resolution I'm learning our phone conversation is being listened in on with whomever is around her. She continues to say she is not going to continue to take my abuse and as I am saying "ok bye" she continues to talk over me saying I'm not letting her talk and says at the end of the conversation "and I'm going to record this conversation." Never did I l consent to a phone recording at the beginning, after the controversial hostile conversation nor now.

What was especially frustrating was watching two walk-in customers who didn't even have appointments be assigned experienced technicians, while I, a regular customer with a scheduled appointment, was given a new technician with little oversight. When I brought my concerns to the owner, instead of taking accountability, she asked whether I had communicated everything to the technician. Respectfully, it's not my job as the customer to supervise or train a nail technician or ensure they're completing the service correctly. That responsibility belongs to the salon. I understand everyone has to learn, but new technicians should be properly trained and supervised before working independently with paying customers. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled was just as disappointing as the service itself. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this salon based on my experience.
