I tried this salon for the first time, and the polish on one of my nails chipped within two hours of leaving the salon! Here was my experience: I came in for a gel manicure and asked for a French tip design. I will say that the design looked nice, and it was the design that I requested. However, within 1.5 hours of leaving the salon, I noticed that the polish on one of my pinkies had chipped! Normally, I would go right back to the salon, so they could fix it. However, I was catching a flight. Thus, I was rushing around a bit afterwards to get to the airport on time, but I have gotten gel manicures many times before, and this is the first time it chipped so quickly. I came in with someone else, and she had even said she was concerned about her nails chipping because they only put one coat of polish. I guess I was case in point. I called and spoke with them; they requested pictures and took down my number. I did talk to a manager the next day about my experience. However, the manager reiterated multiple times that they do not offer any refunds. Normally, this would be fine, and I would go back in to get them fixed. However, I was only visiting Washington and visit sporadically (not even once per year). All she could offer was a discount or to work something out the next time I visit. I am certainly not hoping that anything will come of this, but I do hope they address this issue in the future so that other people's nails don't chip so quickly, especially because this salon is not cheap. With other nail salon options in the area and given my experience, I will likely not be back. I did give them 3 stars because they at least tried to address the issue (though not satisfactorily) and I did like my nail design. Went and got a pedicure a few days back and left with the nastiest infection on my toe.

This was my first visit to the Ascend Nail salon. I called and scheduled an appointment in advance for a pedicure. When I arrived on time for my appointment, I waited almost 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged or greeted me. I waited another few minutes to be taken to the pedicure chair. The nail technician did not tell me her name and she was not wearing a name tag. She was not very friendly and did not seem to want to talk to me. She did talk with a co-worker, so I know she was not mute. The salon needs to do a better job in training their employees on customer service. Otherwise, the service was good and I was satisfied with the pedicure. I will not be going back to this salon. read more

Also, pricing increased twice within the past year-- specialty pedicure with gel for $93 before tip seems high. While this salon has great hygiene and a beautiful interior, their quality is poor and no attention to detail. The nail tech cut my cuticle and didn't even apologize or let me know. The polish application is horrendous. When I commented I wasn't thrilled with the coverage she put another coat of color on top of the top coat! So she did base coat, two color coats, top coat, one color coat, and another top coat. I was shocked. This was just a very poor experience. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I booked the mid-tier service but received the most expensive service. I'm horrified I paid $50 for a regular messed up manicure. Yesterday was my second visit to Ascend. My goal is to try and wait until my second visit to share any review, at nail salons especially. I've had my nails enhanced in some way over 35 years. Here's what I have learned about what may be helpful to enjoy this salon. You can book on line - which I love. You need to be specific and knowledgeable to book effectively. As an example- I booked for a new acrylic set of tips with a shellac polish. I did not schedule a session to remove the nails I had on , however, which proved problematic. I had been to this salon 9 days prior and wanted them to see the problems I was having which is why I had not taken off the nails. I was going back for another opportunity for them to show how they run their salon. My appointment was for 1045. At 11:09 I was approached for the first time to be told it would be "a minute" (Pictures to be added) I had a conversation with the technician on my first visit about shaping my acrylic nails more narrow than my nail beds. I understand it's popular but it allows edges to shred and it compromises the seal allowing moisture to get between the nails. She pointed out that I had not made an additional appointment to take the nails off in order to put a new set on. (I was told it required an xtra 20 minutes. Very similar to how long I waited past my confirmed appointment time) On my initial visit, There was evidence of moisture in one nail so I asked her to please apply the medicated product (Dr G Clear Nail) but she didn't. That was one reason I needed to go back so quickly. I knew there was a problem nail and I could feel others lifting before a week had passed. There were 3 lifted nails at my second visit, and now two nails were green from moisture. Here is where I determined that this salon does NOT carry any medicated products for sale or otherwise. I appreciate that my nails were eventually replaced although I'm concerned about not medicating the water damage. As a strange afterthought I noticed how unfriendly this tech was. I understand her frustration stepping into this situation but her inability to see past the situation made my second visit as challenging as the first. While she had concern for my comfort removing nail tips, she spent the next 60 minutes twisting my hands in ways that hands don't bend. Allow extra time to become educated with their processes to best enjoy your service. I paid $50 for a fill and one repair including tip Nine days later I paid $60 for a new set and tip This salon may be too expensive to be my regular salon. read more

Moved to Maple Valley just a bit ago so I have to find new spots for all my services. Really needed a pedicure the other day so I looked at reviews and decided to give this place a go. I can tell why the reviews are good, and I definitely need to do my part to add to it. The shop is CLEAN, modern, and esthetically pleasing to the eye. The techs are extremely friendly. I brought my 10 month old daughter with me and they were all taking turns doing peek a boo and saying hi to her. Never made me feel bad or out of place for bringing her. The standard pedicure included a scrub and a massage and my feet left feeling beautiful and fresh. My color is expertly executed as well. I'm not positive, but I believe I heard there's a complimentary drink included with your service. I'm excited to try out a mani next time too! read more

I don't know what type of formula they use or brand of nail polish but my nails grow very strong. The polish doesn't chip when I get a manicure or even a pedicure. Th ladies are always on hand to accommodate and give you a nice hand massage after. Hot towels to keep your hands soft this winter is ideal. I keep coming back. I've been to this nail salon twice now, and as a general rule I don't write a review without going twice. Whilst my nails come out beautifully every time, this salon seriously needs to work on their customer service. They could be a really great business if this was worked on a little. But on both visits I have been incredibly uncomfortable to the point of near anxiety. On both occasions there was a significant language barrier, which in my opinion is not much of a problem as long as there is perhaps someone around who can translate a little or if there's a booking system that is easy to use. But for a place that offers a service which is very personal, tailored, and requires communication, it becomes an issue when the staff cannot understand the services you're asking for, and then charge you extra for miscommunication or just sheer hidden up-charges. I also find it odd that their booking system does not have GelX listed, given that it is a service they advertise so heavily on their Facebook page. As someone who gets GelX nails, I have had to book appointments over the phone both times. Absolutely not a problem! Right up until the phone rings out with no answer every time you call... When I finally did get appointments, the staff made it very clear that they were annoyed with me when I asked for simple things. If I ask for the nails to be filed into a certain shape (stiletto, nothing crazy), if I'd like them shorter, if I ask a question for clarification (is this paint gel or regular polish?), I'm met with an attitude that makes me feel like I'm bothering them. As someone who is perhaps overly polite out of social anxiety, this can feel really uncomfortable. Moreover, none of the staff make any effort to speak to you during your appointment, which I'd like to clarify, I'm 100% okay with! I don't always want to spend my appointment talking if I've booked it to relax. But what is frustrating is that while I'm trying to relax and just get my nails done, the staff will spend the entire appointment having conversations with each other in a salon so large that it requires them to yell loudly to hear each other. And this is not pedantic, these conversations will seriously be up to 15-minutes of shouting across the room. Also. If booking, I'd suggest asking for one of the female employees. This is NOTHING against men! If a man can do amazing nails, I'll take it! But the two male employees here are genuinely terrible at nails... read more

I really wanted to like this place and make this my go to nail spot after searching for a spot for quite sometime. The first time I was there (it was towards closing time) the service was great, the attitude was great. I liked what I got done for the price I paid for. I asked for my nail tech name so I can book with her again. I went back for the second time with the same nail tech and it was a nightmare to say the least. Idk what happened to her prior but she wasn't happy, she was very moody and rushy. You'd think they want to treat you with care so you can keep coming back or recommend customers to them, but nope! She wanted me out of her chair as fast as she could so she can pick the next customer. French is my go to style but I was told by the tech to not get it since my previous set was French. lol. Well... I wanted to try a new salon for ease of getting to on my way home and to enjoy new trendy styles with the dip powder. I've been waiting for the salon to open and saw it was open, had time, and made a last minute scheduled manicure dip appt. for last night. Everyone seemed busy but pleasant. The service started out great and then before the last few coats got worse. My cuticles/skin also got filed and nicked. I bleed on 7-8 fingers & have been in pain since my appt last night. It was quite disappointing since I wanted to provide them my business every two weeks. I doubt I'll be back unless I get a different technician that won't hurt me. In reading the other reviews, I wonder if my 20% off was because the supervisor/colleagues saw me bleeding and even gave me more antiseptic when I asked for a tissue because my thumb wouldnt stop bleeding. My service was over $50 initially - $58 but didn't even see the wine glasses or know about that service until I read the Yelp! Reviews. I gave a small "tip" because I didn't want to be "that" person especially if I ever go back but as much pain as I have been in, I think I'll keep looking or see my regular salon only on weekends. read more

I wanted to give this salon another chance after going here a few years ago. I went the other day and left super disappointed :/ the nail tech cut several of my fingers. Several of my nails have little bumps and indents underneath the polish. The polish/chrome is sitting on top of my cuticles and the shape of my nails is uneven. The gal at the front desk did her best to accommodate and checked back with me to let me know her other appointments showed up so I couldnt squeeze in. But we did get our pedicures! I know there is generally a language barrier, but there wasn't even an attempt for courtesy or customer service. It was about getting you out as fast as possible. My 1st nail tech did not understand when I kept pointing to get my nails shortened and I finally gave up trying. I didn't make this a big deal and walked out with longer nails than normal. I have been getting nails done for years for reference. I got tips and dip at Ascend Nails for $90.00. Higher than I would normally pay but it was a referral. But I figured they must be really good. 2 weeks to the date of me getting my nails done, 6 of the nails completely popped off. No breakage, no chipping or peeling. I wasnt doing anything rough with my hands (one just came off from scratching my head) They Just popped off like press on nails. I set up an appointment to get the remaining nails taken off. I brought in the ones that popped off so the manager could see them. The manager offered to give me a free manicure of which I did not have time for. The woman taking my nails off said nothing the whole time i was there and I had to ask to at least file my nails before I had to leave. She was less than happy to do this. There was no other offer for compensation for the lack of quality and a palsy comment that she would check into why this would have happened. I was very frustrated when I left. read more

we booked appointments for our entire family and showed confirmations...We always take out family here. They tried to prove me wrong 3 times... literally to the point of saying "here is what I show" ...While looking at my appointment confirmation that lists my services and times.... The kicker for me is they refused to even try to find a solution to our issue, even though it was 100% their fault. I said we would need to leave, because my daughter, that they were denying, was with me and HAD an appointment, and they couldn't care less. Horrible customer service. We brag about this place all the time and will never, ever go back. On the positive side, this is a beautiful salon, well kept, clean and inviting. On the negative side, dip service was very thick and looked like I did it myself. Looked grown out and terrible after a week. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried it twice, but both times were equally as bad. I decided to try the Ascend Signature Manicure with Shellac instead of dip this past weekend and paid a total of $195 (excluding the tip) for myself and my 11 and 15 year old daughters. I was satisfied when I left, but all of our polish peeled off by day 2. Day 2!!! I basically spent over $200 on lotion and paraffin treatment. I don't expect perfection, but if I'm paying $65/person the polish should at least last a couple of weeks. HIGHLY disappointed and don't plan to return. read more

This place is great! Got my broken nail fixed and a gel fill. I have pretty high expectations for nail salons and this one was awesome. Fills are $20 and gel is an extra $15, which is pretty high compared to most places around here. But.... my nails are smooth, even, shaped correctly, and very neat. Plus they have a great color selection and a clean, spa like salon, they also serve you wine if you ask. $38, and with tip $48. Not bad for some neat nails. I really wanted to like this place since it was close to home and reasonably priced. I tried three times with no luck. First time I got a gel manicure and had weird bubbles that formed on 5 fingers. They offered to fix it but even after that you could see bubbles. The second was another gel manicure which only lasted 4 days before it chipped. The lady said it was because I washed my hands too often.....the third was a powered dip and I loved it until she cut my cuticle. This cut left me bleeding for almost half hour after the appointment. Worst nail service I've received in my life. The lady who did my pedicure seemed annoyed through out our whole interaction and rushed to finish a half fast work. She basically spend no more than 20 min in cleaning the cuticles, scrub the bottom of my feet with a pumice stone, put some sugar scrub on my legs, rinsed the scrub, color my nails and left the bill on the table for me to pay before she walked away to get her nails done. She didn't even trim or file my nails, did not use anything to separate my toes prior to applying the nail polish to prevent my toes overlapping so the new pedi doesn't mess up, and the color was applied on the nails as well as over the skin so it looked worse than when I try to do my own nails, etc... I had to ask the person in the front counter to please cancel the appointment I had set up for my mom later in the afternoon because unfortunately even if this was the only place with last min appointments and we needed our nails done for an occasion I can't recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances. The lady in the front counter tried to fix it but the experience was so bad that I just wanted to leave. She offered me a 10% discount and although I think they should have not charged anything for it I paid and left as quick as I could read more
