This store is has fallen under such poor management. I've been a long term customer for a while for the rewards program for dog food. I won't be coming back anymore after all the things I've heard and seen while in the store. For one, the general manager fired a special needs employee who gave years of their life to the company just because they had a personal disagreement. Not because he wasn't good at his job, he seemed to be the most knowledgeable helpful worker there. Not only that but the managers live with her? How is that not inappropriate? Promoting people when they'll live with you seems like a huge major conflict of interest that will fold out poorly. Karma will come for this company, will probably go bankrupt if they continue to run their stores this way. Not only that but Julie the store manager is incredibly fake and not slick about it. I've seen her help other customers and proceed to talk smack about them when they're not so close to her. Other people have ears and eyes, hopefully people can start looking closer at this and how awfully lazy the world has come to, people should earn their jobs and be good at them. This been a on going struggle for their equine department. Keeping certain items in stock. I was told the Webster store is down sizing it equine department. Why ? You have a heavy equine client population in this area. They chose to expand it Dog and cat . . I was told Ontario was going to be more in stock for equine items . After other stores in the area were out of stock with an item I needed, I called the Webster store asking for a stock check. They said they have it. Drive 30 minutes to get to the store to find out that they've been out of stock for a while and never had it. Thanks, ya bums. read more

Great deal on a propane refill this weekend. Staff very friendly. Despite COVID, there is still a decent little selection of fun things to look out. They had a little outdoor decor section with some cute/ interesting things I hadn't seen before. Also a nice little selection of small indoor plants, snacks, and fairy garden decorations. It was a really quick visit, so probably lots more to explore. read more

The staff here is literally so nice honestly. They were really informative while still having fun and being entertaining. I was allowed to hold a baby tortious so I can scratch that off my bucket list. This hands down has to be one of the best pet stores I have visited. Yes, they don't have a giant variety of exotic pets, but they have a lot of cool exotic animals. They have so many different types of fish and they have so many different kinds of reptiles. I once bought an animal from an exotic pet store, she got super sick and passed away. And we were giving her proper care. I bought an African fat-tailed gecko here, he is currently 8 years old and living his best life. They have all of the great toys and treats and foods for my pet rats. They have some nice cages for animals like ferrets, rats, etc. I bought a guinea pig (I am pretty sure he's a rehome) and he is the sweetest little man I have ever seen. He is not skittish at all! I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to rats and all of the rats (even the feeders) look very healthy! The only issue I have with the feeders is that they are in a tank. If rats are put in a tank, then their urine will build up and cause ammonia to form and it can make them sick. I am aware that these are feeders, and they will be fed to someone's animal, but still. It would also be nice if they had some sugar glider food. It would be very nice if I didn't have to go online and order their food. The staff there are VERY nice, helpful, and patient. They let me hold one of the feeder rats because he was so cute and big. (I have a weird love for the rats the size of dogs) I once bought an axolotl there (this was forever ago, they don't carry them anymore) and he was a very healthy boy! He passed away 2 years ago, due to old age. They had the food that he needed to eat! They had bloodworms! Sorry about the very long review, I just wanted to say how great this place is! We had never been to CountryMax before, but after too many sub-optimal experiences at PetSmart, we decided to give it a try for purchasing a Betta fish. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the difference in ambiance; felt much more family run and less like a corporate chain. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean the tanks were, and the huge variety of species and animals. The employees were extremely helpful, and the prices were competitive. Only downside was not being able to find any silk aquarium plants to decorate our tank. Definitely worth the extended drive, we'll be back again next time we need anything for our pets! read more
