Disappointed with lawn service and the management last season. The reason why I would not renew. Asked for insect and weed treatment plus fall winterizer. More weeds grew and insects not treated. Technician put weed control on newly planted grass. The first manager I spoke with blamed the technician and told me he was not up to their standards and no longer with us. We only treat for grubs. Asked why would you tell me differently. Second manager told me technician was trained. Both told me they could not give me a bag of seeds. I told both managers in my opinion that is greed, paying for services not received. Asked to speak with the owner. Transferred me to Jessica, general manager who told me she'd come out to look at the lawn, then texted send pictures. I sent pictures of the lawn. Jessica told me she would give me a small bag of seed. I followed up. No response form Jessica. Poor customer service and work ethics from management. My wife and I stopped by to do some scouting for some native plants...it was a cold rainy day. We were treated by J with wonderful service and her depth of knowledge. She could have easily been too busy to deal with a couple of tire kickers. Instead she gave us her precious time. She planted some seeds today and we will be back to purchase. read more

Just back from a rainy day visit to Broccolo's to check out their native plant inventory. "J" was wonderful! Even though there was a "heavy mist", J walked us through the perennials, the shrubs and the trees highlighting the natives and the native cultivars. She was not only knowledgeable, but engaging and pleasant even in the lousy weather. I've purchased other natives from Broccolo before and find them to be a well stocked nursery. Other employees have been as knowledgeable and friendly as J was today. If your interest is in native garden plants, Broccolo is the place to go. read more

Stay away from Broccoli Lawn Service To say that this company is customer service based is false. We only refer to their lawn care. Techs are dispatched chaotically, the office makes decisions based on what they believe is needed and not what their techs tell them. We have found that some techs tell customers one thing and do another after the office attempts to thwart service that is necessary. Lesson learned. read more

Broccolo has been treating my lawn for the past five years. My klawn is covered with crab grass. It looks worse than it ever looked. Broccolo also killed plants that I had purchased in the spring with weed killer that they put down in the spring they would not reimburse me for the plants that were killed. They did not know what to do with my lawn to get rid of the crabgrass I will never let them do anything to my lawn again they are bad. read more

I hate to give a business poor marks, but I've had a very frustrating three months waiting for Broccolo. Last November three evergreen bushes were installed by them. As advised, I did pay for the additional protective winterizing spray. In the spring, the bushes all had some brown areas, but two revived. The third did not. I contacted Broccolo the second week in April asking for someone to take a look. Weeks went by, then more weeks. Despite my attempting to communicate via phone (messages not returned or unable to leave due time full voicemail), email and messaging, it wasn't until about the end of June after more emails that someone was sent to take a look and investigate. Martha was very thorough, took a sample and DID email me within a few days to say that Laurie wants to replace the now mostly dead bush. Then....nothing. I emailed again on July 9th, was told it was forwarded and I'd hear back. Today, five days later, without hearing anything, I called again. Was transferred to someone whose voicemail was full. Called back. Was told the person is on the phone but would call me in "just a few minutes". That was 40 minutes ago. I understand people are busy, but this is just ridiculously poor customer service! At least have the courtesy to return calls! The message I'm taking away is there is only prompt service when you are buying something, but not if you have a problem and need to have the guarantee honored. read more

I purchased native flowers for my new garden last Spring. Everything grew beautifully. In fall I purchased left over perennials that established quit. Am excited to see how they look. Can't wait for Spring. Broccoli is great to just visit and walk through. Have many areas. Butterflies were off the hook there in the butterfly area. Lovely patio. Just nice to walk around in the plant. Shrub and tree areas. Pop your head into their barn... available for special occasions I was told. Going back as soon as they are open! read more

We had some questions about different kinds of trees and the staff member who helped us was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help us pick just the right one. I went in for my first time to find a tree and some plants for my new home. The staff were very friendly and took the time to take me around and also entertain my toddler!! We fed the chickens and found some bugs and mud puddles along the way. I had a very pleasant experience and left with some nice things picked out for the garden. read more

I loved Broccolo for over 30 years. Then I paid them to do some landscaping. They planted the bushes in mulch w/o digging. I complained and they said that the guy that did it has been fired, but they didn't come back and fix it until three bushes died. I had to drive 20 miles one way from Rush to Ontario get free replacements. They did eventually come back and replace another. But I stuck with them ..... 30 years is hard to walk away from. Then they chewed up my lawn while treating it. It was like a mini "lawn job". Same deal. Apologies but no offer to make it right. I am now getting quotes from One Step and Lawn Doctor. I think Broccolo has gotten too big and doesn't need to focus so much on the customer anymore. read more

Two years ago (May 2017) we used Broccolo to cover our front lawn with sod. We have a smaller front yard about 4' above the sidewalk with a 40 degree slope down to the sidewalk. 3 years ago it was dug up due to sewer and water work. We tried reseeding, but rain washed away the seed on the slope; sod was the only fix. The sod Broccolo put in is 3/4 straw and 1/4 grass. Last year we reseeded it. Still looks awful. Now I just reseeded again for the 2nd year in a row. Broccolo was quick on giving an estimate, and quick on installation, but they sold us garbage. Even the next door neighbor's lawn looks better--and they do nothing to it (except cut it with a Norelco shaver). Broccolo posts only 5-star ratings on its website; it is with pleasure that I post this 1-star, wishing it were no-star at all. Gil F. read more

In Spring 2017 we had Broccolo Tree and Lawn Service lay sod on our front lawn at 100 Wisconsin Street--all of it on the right side facing the house, and on the left the part nearest the embankment. This is now our 4th spring with it, and every year it looks like crap, not just after the winter but all summer long. I rake enough the make a bail of hay! THEY SOLD IS CRAP. We add lawn seed every spring, fertilize it, and nada! Also, take a look at the property on the NW corner of Allendale and Humboldt, just 3 blocks away. Also in Spring 2017 they planted ground ivy on the hillock there, and 4 springs later it too looks like crap. AVOID BROCCOLO LIKE THE PLAGUE! --Gil French read more

This statement needs the real story about how bad the customer service is with Brocollo. They use excuses like "you live on a hill where it's windy so nothing will grow" or "We need you to dig up your bushes that died and bring them to our nursery and we will give you new ones:"What! the plants they are guarantee for 1 year have died and the homeowner needs to dig them up! The designer never said anything about being on hill and things would die. We are in a regular residential neighborhood. An excuse used not to replace our bushes. Also, we asked specifically for tall bushes for privacy and little 3' bushes were installed. The statement was "they will grow, give them time". Another excuse of not designing or installing what the customer asked for. Mulching - they spread to thin and had to call them back to show them areas that were not done right. Communication- horrible: We had to wait three weeks for a call back on trying to schedule our mulch, when they did give us a date (we had to wait another 2 weeks) they didn't have us on the schedule and later said "we had to move our good customers so we can get this done" You have got to be kidding. We were only asking to have the work done when they said. Lastly, her post said she fired a customer today, that is absolutely incorrect, we fired her for the worst company experience my wife and I have ever experienced. When people make comments on a post by a business owner, they need to understand both sides of the story. Even "good" companies do bad work......this was one of them. I waited 10 days for a person to come out and that was ok and fully expected. The estimator was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. He said to give him a few days and he would have something for me. After 10 days of waiting, I called and the office staff was apologetic and said that something would be coming in a few days. 5 days later still nothing. It is insulting to waste my time like this. Very poor customer service before the sale. I couldn't imagine what would of happened if I went with them and had a problem after the project. Beware read more

THEY FLOODED MY BASEMENT! Don't let these non-porfessional on your property! To replace the lawn , they required daily watering. So I purchased the required sprinkler system which they set up for $100. When mowing the lawn, they removed the sprinklers and threw them in the basement window well with the water still on. When the window well filled, the basement flooded. Thank goodness my tenant identified the problem and shut off the water before all of her belonging were distroyed! Customer Service and attention to detail are not part of their business model. Stay clear of these people! read more

Hired Broccolo to do some landscaping. Very disappointing. Left the area looking very untidy and not attractive at all. The worst thing, however, is that they never finished the job. Just left and never came back to complete it. And stopped answering our emails. Will have to pay someone else again to redo the job. Considering taking them to small claims court. read more
