I went out to purchase a bird play stand for the quaker I originally purchased in April. Well they had this super cuddly turquoise boy and once I held him and he snuggled up right away it was all over. They gave me great pricing and helped pick out oh I don't know 400.00 in toys! Awesome owners, great management, amazing set ups, enclosures, and care of the animals. You can tell these people really care about the animals they keep and breed. Everything is so clean and well kept and the animals are in great health. Birds are notorious for plucking their own feathers especially in stressful situations like pet stores but everything was so healthy here. They were even kind enough to work with us and give us a tour. So happy to have met them and visited here today. They are expanding into reptiles as well so you can find plenty of different rare and uncommon birds as well as quality bearded dragons and blue tongue skinks and I'm sure more species to come. read more

My partner and I visited one evening just to look at the new location and see the birds. It's absolutely wonderful what they do there. All the birds are in good sized cages, they're opening up aviaries so their bigger birds have room to fly! While we were there we visited their "bonding room" which was a nice little place upstairs with couches for potential owners so they can bond with their bird anytime they want while they pay it off! I can tell all of the birds are loved and cared for, and they frequently take the birds out to socialize with people to ensure they are calm and safe. I'm so glad I listened to their suggestion on which bird to get. I was going to get a pineapple conure but one of their team members told me they had a favorite which was a regular colored green cheek conure. He arrived and immediately made himself at home! He plays, cuddles, and follows me around like we've known each other for years! He is extremely quiet and well mannered. This is the second bird I've purchased from them. The first was a cockatiel I picked at random who is not cuddly at all but as a bird lover I adore her and her hilarious antics and raspy singing voice. Still, I can see how she would not be a great family bird so definitely ask for suggestions when purchasing a bird because they know each one's personality! Sold us a rehomed African grey. Made claims that it could talk and that it was peaceful. The bird actively seeks out my wife to attack her. The bird bites the kids hard randomly. I don't know where to start. Honestly, I probably owe the owners money at this point with how much they have helped me. They really do care about all birds, even those that weren't sold by them! In an emergency where there is no avian vet open- they are always there, they answer (even the owner through his personal fb page) & tell you to bring the bird in immediately- they're there ready & waiting for your arrival to check on your bird when you don't know what else to do- and the staff is incredible, quite knowledgeable & informative & for me the most important aspect is THEY CARE! I didn't give 5 stars for only one or two reasons... there are several more: -they welcome you, make you feel at home & allow you to interact with their birds (with appropriate supervision) hands on even if you're not looking to buy you can still hang! It's nice because you know the owners & staff enjoy the birds getting even more play time out of their cage all while ensuring the safety of the birds & you! -they seem to always be looking out for children! I have been here many times & have seen a family with small kiddos come in to buy a $5,000+ macaw but the little girl was in the macaws face & trying to grab him... I'm not sure how it exactly happened but I know the mom was saying how interactive she'll be with the bird (which is ultimately up to the parents, I know) but the owner was so kind & in an attempt to be helpful as he found the family had never had a bird before, no prior experience- he went to show them the cockatiels & conures in hopes they'd start a little smaller which ultimately they did and everyone was so happy! He could have looked the other way & got thousands of dollars but he cares about every person & parrot and his instinct told him this was a better fit -They have affordable payment plans with allowing you to come visit your bird unlimited time, if they're open you're allowed to be there with your baby! -I have read reviews that say things about the store being "dirty" IF YOU'VE OWNED BIRDS YOU KNOW THEY ARE A MESS! Man my little birds make my floors like like I threw seed like confetti- alllll day! Imagine having dozens of birds from small birds to ginormous monster sized beauties- they clean all the time especially always morning noon & night- Bedding gets everywhere along with seed & you can't really help it- would you rather they clean 24 hours every day & let other more important things go like feeding and watering the birds, giving them free time & hand taming them? The staff is always busy & there is always 1 team member cleaning if not more! -I have seen reviews about the prices being "too high" however I know for a fact that with the affordable payment options they offer- they spend a lot of money holding our birds for us until we are able to pay them off & pick them up... they continue to feed & care for our babies as if they're being boarded essentially. Not to mention they always give your bird a DNA test along with vet visits to ensure your birds healthy & they also do complimentary grooming! That's how they are able to pay their employees & maintain enough revenue to keep their food & caging necessities in stock. And for giving us peace of mind knowing our birds are cared for and loved before they come home... priceless There are so many more positive things I can say. I don't know the owners personally but having met them & seeing how much they have progressed since opening I am thoroughly impressed & thankful to have them always just a phone calm away! read more

Surprised my daughter for Xmas with a baby Cockatiel. The owner Sal, his wife Jamie, and their staff couldn't be more accommodating or helpful! Sal helped me pick out the PERFECT hand fed baby cockatiel. For several weeks leading up to Xmas I was able to visit and handle the baby bird in the wonderful private sitting area they carved out upstairs just for this purpose. I also received lots of valuable tips and advice from the owners and staff. Sal opened up the store on Christmas morning so that I could surprise my Daughter with her new Bird. Sal even allowed me to borrow a temporary cage until the one I had chosen arrives. The store is super clean, all the birds seem well cared for and happy. Having been able to visit with the baby Cockatiel over a period of several weeks made the birds transition into our home very seamless. The bird immediately bonded to my daughter and is super chill in our house. I cannot say enough amazing things about the owner, staff and birds. read more

I have made multiple visits and I found the staff very caring and compassionate towards the birds. After discussing a behavior issue I was having the owner Sal spend 45 minutes of his own time to help educate and train us on how to handle our bird in a safe way. After one class (that he didn't even charge for) there is a whole new positive attitude the bird gives us now. As a bonus you get to hold any bird you have your eye on and spend time with them. My husband and I put a $1500 + tax deposit on an unweaned parrot. A few weeks later, due to unforeseen circumstances, we realized we could not afford the additional $3000 +tax to pay for this bird. We contacted the store and told them our situation. We were aware of their non refundable deposit policy. The bird we hoped to buy was still being hand fed and we assumed it would find another home. We asked if we could use our deposit on some bird supplies. We were told our deposit was good for 1 year and could ONLY be spent on another bird or birds. Well, after quite a few months we decided we would rather not lose the large sum of money and chose to purchase a BABY hand raised cockatiel and a BABY hand raised black capped conure. There would be an additional $160+ dollar charge per bird for shipping. Our remaining $100 from our initial deposit could not be used for shipping. So they got to keep that and we paid over $320 to ship the birds to us. The shipping receipt on the carrier said it cost less than $45 to ship each bird. I can't imagine the cost of the carrier and the drive to their local USPS office could cost them $120 each bird but at this point we have given them so much money we just wanted some nice birds. The cockatiel arrived with no feathers under its wings. He was very aggressive, even after settling in for days. Remained aggressive and can not be near any of our other cockatiels as he will attack them. We were told he had a blood feather issue, was perfectly healthy and was a just weaned baby, but this was much worse. I paid in total $562 to get this bird here and it was the most expensive RESCUE. I can't even call him a hand fed baby because he is not. The bird wore a band from 2021. We inquired about that and they told us the band company closed in 2020 so breeders were using old bands.... (from the future??). Vet said the bird was not a baby. Okay so, we still held out hope for the black cap. That bird arrived today and it is the thinnest bird I have ever held. We have MANY birds and have hand raised some, rescued some, adopted some and bought some as babies and never have we seen such a horribly thin bird. I hope this store is better to its local customers. We also live in NY but we are 5 hours away, we opted for shipping. I hope the owner uses our extra $100 to feed someone else's bird before shipping out. I asked to speak to him many times and he could never be reached. This was truly a sad experience for us. A big mistake to buy an animal you have not seen. I shop many bird stores in NY and NJ and if you look at my other google reviews you will see I have never had such a bad experience. Really so terribly disappointing. It looked like they love birds based on their Facebook. Two birds shipped and two different times. I was not going to complain about the cockatiel but when the black cap arrived as it did, I knew I had to hopefully save someone else money. I purchased my Eclectus almost a year ago and I would never buy a bird anywhere else! Sal and his wonderful staff spent a lot of time informing me about my new parrot. I was able to visit my baby bird while he was still being hand fed. They even took the time to show me how to hand feed my baby bird when I would visit, to help us with bonding. My end result was a parrot who was very socialized and had no problems acclimating to his new home and bonding with my entire family. The great customer service hasn't stopped there. To this day, the staff continues to help me with any concerns or questions I may have about my parrot. There responses are always immediate and helpful. Warning to out-of-state buyers: I cancelled my sale with this company because trying to get my (fully paid for bird--a gift for my little girl) shipped was practically impossible. I was promised three times I would be called "within an hour" with shipping information--did not happen. I had to place several calls and when I voiced my displeasure, the employee (Dallas) was extremely rude, saying she was "short staffed" and "trying to run a business." Really? Eventually they sent shipping information but then failed to get the bird on the plane twice 2 days in a row--the second time notifying me as I was heading to the airport 1.5 hours before the flight was due. The customer service at Exotic Pet Birds is abysmal and they have no problem breaking a kid's heart. read more

This company has recently expanded to a Birds & Gifts shop - I guess it's okay if you're looking for bird tchotchkies, mugs and things, but when it comes to buying a tropical bird, I'd much rather go to a specialty store that offers just birds, bird cages, and toys, and has a solid background in ornithology. I have two birds that I didn't even purchase from them and they have been there for me every step of the way with any questions or concerns I had! Anytime I go into the store looking for things they are able to point me in the right direction! Recently in the middle of the night my little feather baby wasn't acting herself and I was so worried about her! I simply sent a quick Facebook message describing what was going on and the owner himself called me right away and gave me so many tips and advice on what I could do!
