Stopped in for lunch at 1pm on a Sunday with a Party of 6. We were greeted immediately at the door, and it was fairly packed. Wait time for a table was about 15-20 minutes. Waitress was very attentive and hospitable. Was disappointed they were fresh out of the Texas Cavier. Tried their roasted Turkey plate with mash, corn bread, and green beans with cranberry sauce for $14.99. It did not disappoint! So, yummy!! The rolls we were served were hot and fresh as well. Can you believe, living in east Texas my whole life and this is my first time going to a Cotten Patch ever? The thing that may have me visit again are the fried green tomatoes, the fried green tomatoes were 10/10. Loved how fresh the food was. Unfortunately, the gravy was not really my vibe. The mash potatoes and mac n cheese was 5/10, it wasn't bad but I wasn't impressed. I was impressed with how fresh the chicken tenders were but I do think they could use more seasoning. Also how was the "spicest/flavorful" dipping sauce ketchup? Y'all need something with a little something. The service was 10/10, great staff working, they got this place the 4th star. read more

The food is usually tasty, so no complaints there, However, the prices have doubled since I was there last year, You're going to pay upwards of 15 bucks or more for a burger and fries. Everything on the menu was 12.00 and way up. The wait staff never came back to our table after they delivered the food. We had to go hunt down napkins. My friend and I split a burger and fries and it was plenty. I wouldn't treat someone to lunch there if you don't want to spend 40-50 bucks. The food is good, but I can get a good burger for a whole lot less at other places. The ambiance sucked because this two year old was allowed to run through the restaurant while his ignorant, disengaged mother was on her phone. If you don't mind being in a racist environment by all means you'll enjoy this restaurant. Came in with five family members and from the moment we walked through the door whispers and finger pointing towards us from everywhere. They even gave us a black waitress I guess that was their idea of making us feel a little bit more comfortable. I've been to numerous locations of this restaurant and have never had to deal with so much racism as I've had to deal with at their Tyler location. Anyways on to the food four of the meals arrived on time but I guess for me the only white person in the group they forgot my meal. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if my meal was complicated but it was literally just a bacon burger and a side of fries, the least complicated meal ordered in our group. One family member had ordered Sprite got it and when it was time for a refill magically there Sprite machine didn't work anymore. Quite interesting because the group next to us was given four orders right after we were told their machine was broken. They are well known for their chicken and dumplings and honestly it was disgusting. Other locations pack other restaurants that serve chicken and dumplings it is always a nice thick hearty broth. Not at this location it was more of a water down broth and definitely just didn't taste good. But in reality there's no need for me to go back to this restaurant ever again. We ordered today for takeout. We ordered the fried Shrooms as an appetizer, it was pretty good. My husband ordered the Cajun Duo which he said was very good but they forgot to include the Cajun Duo sauce so it was dry. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with cream gravy, broccoli rice casserole and mashed potatoes. Chicken was pretty good, a little chewy but good. The bad part was the cream gravy. I don't know how you can mess up gravy but it was terrible. It had a chemical taste? Had to throw it away. The broccoli rice was good and so were the potatoes. Friday night we drove to Tyler for an event on Saturday, it took over three hours due to traffic. So by the time we got there we were starving and we happened upon a Cotton Patch Cafe which we like so we decided to get it to go. I placed my order and the young girl behind the register said 5 to 10 minutes, we weren't getting anything huge just appetizers and a salad. So I sat down while my daughter stayed with the dogs in the car while it was running. 10 minutes goes by, 15 minutes goes by finally I get up and I'm like hi, just checking on my order. The young girl behind the register says oh we ran out of baked potatoes, did you want to talk to a manager? I was like I guess so because I was completely confused. I also said, did you not make any of the rest of my order? She didn't even reply just looked at me, then walked off. So I wait another five minutes before the manager walks out and she says "oh we ran out of potatoes and are cooking more and it's gonna be another 5-10 minutes." my reply was, "I've been sitting in front of your counter, this entire time, why was I not informed that you had run out of potatoes and you would need additional time?" her reply, "we ran out about one minute ago and had to make more." So my reply was, " my order was placed over 20 minutes ago, almost 30 which tells me you forgot my order, why was it too difficult to come over and just inform me that you made a mistake and were trying to correct it? I would have been less angry than I am right now!" She replies, did you want to wait for the other baked potato?" I say, do I have a choice? Because not once have you offered to refund me for my order or make it OK?" She says "oh we can give you a replacement of mashed potatoes, we won't refund." Mind you, my car has been running for over 30 minutes at this point, waiting for them to make a Caesar salad, an order of fried green tomatoes, and a baked potato. Needless to say the gentleman who ordered almost 15 minutes after me, got his order before me, and it too contained a baked potato. I understand they can only make so many of these at a time, but a little communication goes a long way. They acted as if they were not going to give me my order or they were only gonna give me half of an order and hope I didn't notice. It was a very odd interaction with the manager. My husband had never eaten here but I've patronized the establishment several times in the past. I have two things I'd like to discuss/review 1. Waiting to be seated: I proceeded to the service stand gave # in party which was 2 and my telephone # then was told (it was Sunday around 2p) that it would be 25 to 30 mins. So I'm confused as to why take our # if you are NOT going to send a text when the table is READY before the time told! Common sense Common courtesy!!!! A better system us needed and it wasn't that crowded at fables and we where parked right outside the front doors so someone anyone could have walked out and checked! 2. The food was absolutely delicious thankful that we got right in after the whole issue of NOT texting or checking to see if we where outside. I had the Catfish & Shrimp Duo with greens beans and Mac & Cheese (extra tasty & flavorful) which put me in the mindset of Razoo's Cajun Tricky Fish. My husband had Chicken Fried Chicken with cream gravy, corn & mash potatoes which he smashed (was suggested that we try the Jalapeño gravy as it's absolutely delicious). Several employees walked right past is standing there and did not acknowledge us. 5 employees were sitting at a table to our left, seemingly on a break. The food is usually good here that's why I give it two stars. Today was a bad experience. We went in for my husband to have the chicken fried brisket. We made our order and then she came back to tell us it is sold out. This is before 5 PM. We decided not to stay because this is the only thing that my husband wanted to order here. We said we could go ahead and pay for the one drink that he ordered and she brought us the check for it. It really would've been the right thing to do to not charge us for the drink being that they didn't have the menu item they said that they offered. They are also charging a 5% surcharge on all tickets now because "times have been hard due to Covid". Times are hard for all of us. They should be happy to have our business and not charge us an extra 5% for dining at the restaurant. Because of this we will not return. read more

After reading several reviews commenting on the slow service we crossed our fingers and decided to give this place a try. After 35 minutes we had managed to get cups of water and order. The place was practically empty. Maybe 4-5 tables when we came in. We wanted an appetizer but the waitress never came by to offer so we had to order it at the same time as our meal. After sitting for so long we gave up and left without having ever received our food. During the time there there was at least one worker walking around eating.
