Black Pearl - One lil oyster

After dinner on The Square, we made a pit stop at Black Pearl, a small, narrow bar attached to…read moreRick's On the Square. We all ordered a drink. My friend and my girlfriend both ordered their espresso martini that my friend claimed was the best espresso martini in town, while I got the bartender's recommendation of the Animal Style, a pineapple and jalapeño infused tequila with strawberries, cardamom bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. Normally, I hate any drink that is spicy. I cannot stand a Bloody Mary because I don't believe drinks should be allowed to be spicy, but this one, for having jalapeño, is not spicy at all. If anything, it's slightly savory with its tropical flavor. The bartender was great. They have appetizers and tapas as well and as my girlfriend sat down, she really wanted just one of their fresh oysters. I ordered her just one to try and it was $4.25. They gave us the smallest one they could find. The tiniest oyster of all time. I guess size really didn't matter because according to her it was very good. I would go back and have a few more cocktails, but it is a nice place to hang out on the square on a Friday night. A good time to be had by all. RIYL: The finest, most $15ish cocktail you can find.

The food (oysters again) simply fresh, almost as if I were in some beachside cafe. All the oysters here are from cold water places Nova Scotia for one. A small delicacy to reward myself after a long week. Dark , cool, and welcoming, my type of place. Great company and friendly folks too. This is where we get ready to cha cha, swing, rhumba, and tango. Ran into my fellow veteran friend Al whom I met my first time here. Wonderful food, friends, and company. You'll love it too. Go !

The check in time was adjusted multiple times because of some small complications with my treatment. They adjusted and flowed with the roller coaster. Not only was the service amazing, caring, and kind...the food was amazing. It always is so good. Thank you Twelve for sharing in our celebration and never saying "no", "sorry we can't do that ", etc.

There's plenty of nice local establishments, but some can be pricey and some are just more casual than you want. Scott Williams has perfected the restaurants of Tyler that are balanced between affordable and still quite nice. He got his toes in the water with FDs, before expanding into Javi's, Twelve, and now the fanciest of them all in III Palms. I thought of all those options, Twelve would be the most unique and tasty for my girlfriend and I. We went in an hour before they closed on a Sunday and were seated immediately. We weren't too hungry so we didn't expect to be there past their closing time, and we were ready to go. Our waiter was quick and attentive, bringing us water and helping us decide on drinks from the bar and our order. He also showed us their insane over-the-top whiskey menu. If you like whiskey, give Twelve a shot I guess. To order, I just got their 'Osaka Style' Pressed Roll while my girlfriend got a Sushi Bowl Salad. We got Sweet Potato Fries to share. As for drinks, I started with their Monkey See, Monkey Do, an impressive and firm beverage, while my girlfriend ordered their Destin Dream, a fun Pina Colada-like drink. It wasn't long before our food came out. The sushi was beautifully plated with some wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. I destroyed all the rolls. They were all very fresh and very high quality, which was remarkable for their $13.50 price tag. My girlfriend's sushi bowl looked insane. She ate most of it, but I filled the gaps and devoured the rest of it. The sweet potato fries were crispy and heavenly like all sweet potato fries usually are. I felt adventurous and I got a second drink of their Rose Garden, which was simple but flavorful. Compared to FDs, the menu might be a little more sea-inspired and more adventurous, but I think it leads to better, more unique food, especially with offerings like Oyster Rockefeller and a sushi bar. I also know Twelve does a great brunch as well, so keep that on your radar. Ultimately, as the bill came, the price was very manageable even with the alcohol. It's nice that you don't fully have to break the bank to have a nice meal in Tyler thanks to places like Twelve. I rate it a 12/10. Get it? hahahaha... RIYL: A slightly adventurous, but affordable night out.

The hostesses are very confused and cannot seem to honor simple requests. We asked to sit near the water. There were plenty of tables available, however she tried sitting us next to a birthday party of 20 people in the very back corner of the patio. Next time, we were much more specific. On the patio, near the water, in the sun. Says no problem, then seats us under the covered section, nowhere near the water or the sun. Then she said the tables with umbrellas were reserved. I pointed to the left side of the patio which only had one table occupied. She said, oh ok then if that's what you want. She then realized she forgot to get us menus and grabbed some off a dirty table that had food crumbs all over them. I literally told her exactly what I wanted and it was completely ignored. This has been repeated multiple times. Simple requests, when the restaurant is not busy should be a no brainer, however they cannot seem to understand this. One time we just gave up and left since they tried sitting us twice and multiple other/better tables were available and for some reason we couldn't sit there. Manager intervened and said sure sit wherever you like, but the mood had already been soured by the inept and rude hostesses.
