I like the extensive menu & how great the service is at Mama's. The food is delicious & the staff is friendly.

If you want over-medium eggs, I suggest ordering over-easy. My OM were way over cooked. Looked like the griddle was too darn hot. Luckily my husband shed one of his eggs with me. The waffle was very bland, not much flavor to it and it is not in the shape of Texas, as pictured in the menu. Our waitress was very friendly until the end when I asked her to take the eggs off of our bill. She told her coworker that I didn't like my eggs, me left out the fact that they were burnt. This was my second time trying Mama's, last time too. I wish I could give zero stars read more

The food was good but average I had breakfast and the usual food eggs and bacon toast and coffee

Visited here after being strongly recommended. Both Mrs/myself enjoyed our authentic huevos rancheros with very tasty ranchera sauce. The corn tortillas were excellent as was the salsa, rice/beans. Service was very fast & pleasant. Strongly recommend. We will be back again. read more

I have eaten at his restaurant at least 200 times. The food is always great. Try the huevos ala Mexicans

Service was good- we had breakfast, food was bland, hash browns a bit undercooked. If you're not from the area- cautious on the water.

We always have consistently good food and there is a wide variety of food choices. We enjoy eating there on a regular basis.

The service was not great. The waiter took about almost an hour to get our food out. Everyone around us even people who got here after us got their food before us. read more

Tried Mama's Restaurant #2 for the first time. Went around 8am which was the perfect time as there was a few people eating at that hour. Ordered a basic ham and cheese omelette with some coffee. Was a good meal not too greasy and good portions. Would definitely eat here again and recommend. read more

Just went here for the first time pancakes were gritty and dry, scrambles eggs were wet and runny got a patty melt it was cold, dry and burnt the servers were not attentive at all there was maybe 8 pple in the restaurant multiple severed asked for a side of ranch and it took her 20 minutes the food took 40 minutes to come out everything everybody got at my table had a complaint about there dish there was no flavor everything was either undercooked or overcooked service was rude and inattentive never coming back awful place of business read more

Sat down and our waitress brought our drinks and spilled an entire water on my husband. Had no sense of urgency to get towels and didn't even apologize. My husband went outside to try and dry off and get the water off of him while I waited at the table and minutes later she came back and said we can just move. I told her we were going to probably just leave since my husband was all wet and she said "Oh, Ok". read more

Everything I ordered was undercooked. I was very disappointed. The service was subpar, hurt because of the language barrier as well. Just not that great a place when you have a dozen other restaurants to choose from. read more

With the recent opening of Another Broken Egg and several other breakfast/lunch spots in Tyler, I felt it necessary to remind people of Mama's. This unassuming little gem sits in a small shopping strip next to a Courtyard by Marriott right off Broadway. If you're looking for a good home cooked breakfast, some tasty enchiladas, pot roast or burgers, Mama's is a great choice. They poach eggs perfectly to your liking. Their pancakes are fluffy and yummy. They have 2 choices of sausage, link or patty. Their hash browns are browned perfectly. The omelet I saw pass by me made me wish I had ordered it. It was HUGE and delicious looking. The gentleman eating it had a big smile on his face. The only thing I would steer away from is the chicken fried steak. It's definitely not their specialty, and appeared to be a frozen product. Otherwise, the homemade items on their menu are all tasty. Prices are very reasonable, and they have a lunch, seniors and child's menu with reduced prices. There is a discount for paying cash, and prices are visibly noted. Of you're wanting a good, home cooked meal with decent prices and a large selection, Mama's is your spot. Check em out! read more

I'm a breakfast food fan, so this place was a hit with me. And, the service was speedy, if not especially friendly. The place was packed and somewhat noisy, but the food was good and reasonably priced. Would I make this my first recommendation in Tyler, no, there's nothing that special about it. But for a good, quick breakfast, it fit the bill. read more

This is Feb 22 2015. I am single party. Told the waitress when I was going to the restroom and when I came back the bon english speaking bus woman was. About to remove my 2 pork chops, almost complete order of onion rings and untouched baked potatoe... I got back in the nick of time. Then I tried to eat my baked potatoe but it had s funky flavor. Told the waitress then I asked for mashed potatoes and brown gravy. She then comes back with a little plate to remove the Backed potatoe or else charge me for both potatoes ...could bot wait until I left this place. I wanted to have a quiet meal instead, I'm upset that they had to bother me 2 times.. this is for things they might want to do better at.... Sheesh. read more

The Beans and rice best I ever had! Fast service with decent prices. Fajita nachos are my go to.

Service was decent, the food was disappointing. I was seated almost immediately. I ordered the cheese enchilada plate which came with 3 enchiladas, refried beans and rice. The beans were pretty gross to say the least. They tasted awful and looked/tasted as if they were just thrown in the blender and served. They are the worst beans I have ever had. The rice had an interesting flavor, it was edible but not the best. The enchiladas were soaked in cheese, they were flavorful but a bit soggy. I had a couple of bites of one enchilada and a bit of their rice but that's about it. The portions are pretty big, but I do not recommend this place at all. The winner here is their green-ish salsa & chips. read more

Went there for breakfast. We had a large group of 10 and got seated in 15 min. I had the pancakes with bacon and hash browns. Over all pretty good. Pancakes were a little too brown but they tasted good. Everyone else seemed to like their food. Wife had French toast which she really liked. read more

I'm actually conflicted with my rating. Because covid is still real. I still believe restaurants should still be taking precautions and not practicing the former ways. The only reason we didn't leave is because this seems to be a faith based establishment. No masks and no gloves worn by the staff. Our waitress however was very sweet and courteous. Once we ordered the food came out quick. The food was good. Great portions and great service. Sorry no pictures of the food, I guess we were hungry. I had the two egg breakfast with ham strips and I subbed French toast for the pancakes. Hubby's breakfast was the meat lovers omelette that was served with three pancakes. If you're no longer concerned with covid, you should be but you could eat here comfortably. If you're practicing social distancing and wearing your masks then you may want to call-in your order to go. Either way I hope you give them a try! FYI, the people coming in for lunch were ordering the Mexican food and sandwiches. Everything looked good and people seemed to enjoy their meals. read more

We've only tried the breakfast options here and they are all solid. Service ranges from friendly to indifferent, except if you're on the patio because then you're just forgotten out there. Portions are huge - eggs, potatoes, sausage and a side of pancakes! Upgraded the pancakes to a waffle per my 4 year old's request for a slight upcharge, there was plenty of breakfast for us both. read more

Service pleasant. Food substandard. Pancakes extremely dry, eggs cool, coffee bitter.

I judge a Mexican food restaurant on their rice and beans. If they can do these simple items well, then, most likely, everything else is probably good. The restaurant passed with flying colors. I really like both their red salsa and their green sauce. I had a chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce. The enchilada had large chunks of chicken and the sauce was wonderful. The chips were thin and crispy. We ordered off the senior menu. The portions were large, and the price was excellent. The only negative for some people will be no one wearing a mask-customers or staff. We had ours, but were not required to wear it. We did not feel uncomfortable at all, but some people might. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We come here regularly, there is usually a wait but the staff seem to get people seated in a timely manner. Everything we have ever order tastes amazing. The portions are generous, my ONLY complaint is that the restaurant very obviously does not get cleaned well. There are cob webs on the ceiling and in the walls. There are thick clouds of dust residue in the front wall where there is a decorative branches faux wall by the host in front of the restaurant. There is also a gross brown, rust looking stain on the ceiling, on one of the white decorative panels. Makes me nervous about how the food is handled in the kitchen and I can't help but to think that we are all breathing all that stuff in. But...I come back because the food is legit. Ate here for the first time today. It has some ups and downs. Upon entrance into the restaurant, there was a foul odor ( sewer - porta potty smell ). There were some noticeable stains on ceiling ( water stains from a leak ). And the diner area floors were a bit dirty with small bits of food and trash on it. Now our waitress was awesome. Kept our drinks full. Even gave us some fresh tea to go. Very nice lady. For my meal I had the ranchero omelette that came with 3 pancakes. This meal is under $10 and big enough to feed up to 3 people. Portion size is ridiculous. So you definitely get your money's worth. The omelette itself was a bit dry. The pancakes were good. Served hot and fresh. And the syrup was also served warm. That was a first for me. And I enjoyed it. Overall. I would eat here again and try a new dish. read more

I'm thrilled that I no longer have to drive to 5th street to enjoy this favorite place. As others commented, it lacks the homey atmosphere of Mamas #1 as it is located in a strip mall kinda setup. Tried to go here for lunch today. Waited 15 mi utes after being seated and no one ever came to the table. When my spouse tried to wave a gentleman down. He just looked down. Was seated on the patio. Absolutely the best french toast in the United States. Nothing fancy, just great taste! I've tried french toast all around the world and nothing can compare. On a side note, did you know in France all you need to ask for is toast, and they bring it out like that with syrup? Weird, huh? read more

Went here after church, took a few minuets to seat us. That's not a big deal , but it took an hour to get our food. Food was ok and the service was alright. But an hour ticker time is way too long! Visiting from California for a wedding. First, my family and I (5 of us) got seated after a group of 4 that showed up after us. Then we got seated and no one atteneded to us until my sister asked if we can at least get drinks first. Then the gentleman that we asked if we can get went to go get someone to help us then walked around with a bad attitude. The kid that came to help us after another 2-3 minutes kinda looked clueless. But he was respectable cause he would call us ma'am's. We had breakfast and it was ok. My waffle wasn't fully cooked so it became ever more soggier with the syrup. Our waiter never once asked if we needed refills on our drinks. Another thing is that my sister is a restaurant owner hersef and would never have let this happen at her place. We felt like outcast in this place. Since I did hear one waitress say to the hostess that she wanted the bald guy and family (who happened to come in after us) for herself. Not to impressed with service and food. read more

Always eat here with my parents when visiting from houston. Food has always been good and the servers are very nice. We've had breakfast menu and lunch menu and liked everything we've had on each trip. The pricing is very reasonable. They keep our drinks refilled. Worth a visit! read more

The food was great, as always, and this would be a 5 star rating except that they are not following the reopening guidelines. Our server had no mask and the only other server had hers around her neck, not over her nose and mouth, the entire time. If you don't mind being put at risk, it's a great place to eat. read more

Was informed by the rude manager as she stated since she would not get the manager, that this was not a Mexican food restaurant after I asked for salsa. we got there at 10:40 and was told we would be charged for chips and salsa. I understood this charge but not the fact of a salsa charge for my ordered food. We stayed past 11am still eating and since we arrived before 11 she stated we would still not get chips and salsa. Very rude service and food was cold. read more
