Amazing food. Both at the restaurant in town and the food truck at The Boulders at Lake Tyler. Tacos Montez are my favorite, but all the food is delicious. Oh and the margaritas!! The people are amazing also. If you visit the food truck at The Boulders (Thursday - Sunday) the views are fantabulous. Especially at sunset. read more

The food here is ok. The service is ok. And the inside setting is ok. It's just not that impressive of a place to me. We had lunch here. Maybe things get better at dinner. Or maybe I went on a bad day. I will try it again another time and give us a second chance. Maybe try something different. If it's better I will give it more stars and a better review. If not I will leave it as is. read more

Do not go to dinner here, bland microwaved food not good. Only thing good was the margarita.....

Had a great time. The food and service was amazing. Wonderful cheese dip and nachos. I've been many times and every time, I've had nothing but the best! read more

The atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy, with colorful decor and lively music that made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely incredible -- you can really taste the authenticity and care in every bite. What really stood out was the service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do, and it shows. read more

1st time here in the early afternoon and I must say everything was great! Gracie made some delicious drinks and her customer service was awesome! Cuban sandwich was absolutely plentiful and delicious! They do have live music and overall I will be back no question! Obviously I highly recommend Montez Creekside Kitchen!! You won't be disappointed! read more

Waited 30 minutes and no one checked on us. No one asked if we wanted drinks. Very poor service and they were not even busy. We left

The food is ok and sometimes even better than ok. The thing you have to watch for is that they have a lot of turnover and the staff tends to routinely overcharge you. Tonight for example, I was overcharged by $8 on a $32 bill for two. The problem is no one there can fix it, the management is non-existent, and so you just leave frustrated. read more

We have been meaning to come to this restaurant for a long time so we were very excited to finally visit yesterday. The hostess was very polite and helpful, and we were excited to see the beautiful outdoor seating area the restaurant offered. Unfortunately everything else fell flat. We were not greeted for several minutes so I had to flag down a young woman who wasn't even dressed like a waitress. She acted irritated and annoyed to be addressed by guests and then told us she would find our server. We were then greeted by a young man who told us he was actually stationed inside and was asked to take our table as a transfer. My guess is the young lady didn't want a new table and asked him to take it, despite him being occupied inside. Our appetizer came BEFORE our drinks (which all took forever even though the place was only at maybe 20% capacity.) The spinach dip was nothing I would order again. We ordered the Mahi and shrimp. The Mahi mahi was OK, shrimp was good, but the mashed potatoes were plopped on the plate cafeteria style and the spinach was not cooked well. Will never order again. My mom has no desire to return. I would consider going back for a drink outside but am unsure if I'd order food. This place has a lot of potential, I hope they work on the service and food. As read more

We love the hamburger here, full of flavor and ingredients are fresh! It is our quick to go order when we do not feel like cooking. Fast service and easy to order by phone! I am glad that it is right up the road! read more

What a great time we had while watching the Dallas Cowboys game today. Our daughter needed the space to run around and they definitely have that. The regulars are so nice and welcoming. They enjoyed and entertained my 1&1/2 year old! Can't wait to become a regular! read more

After three visits, I'm torn on this rating. First visit was for lunch after church several weeks ago. We enjoyed their wonderful patio, terrific service and delicious Tinga tacos. Second visit was about a month ago. I ate dinner solo at the bar. Mahi Mahi was outstanding, but service was somewhat slow. Third was last night. Again, I was solo so opted to sit at the bar. I asked if they had the rack of lamb on the specialty menu. I was told they only had enough for 1/2 order. "How many lamb chops is this," I asked. "Three or four," I was told. "How much will it cost?" Maybe about $20. So, I opted for the NY Strip. Priced at $34, it comes with mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies, and choice of salad. My meal came out in record time. I asked about my salad. "You still want it?" No, just credit something off my price. Server looked at me like I was from Mars. The steak was a quality cut, perfectly prepared, and very flavorful. After watching one of the bartenders take a shot with a patron, the vibe seemed weird to me. So I asked for my check, paid and left. No salad, no credit. Had visit three been my first, it would probably be my last with a one or two star rating. While I may return, not sure that I'll sit at the bar. Management has some training to do. read more

This was my first time eating here, and I had read the mixed reviews. We absolutely loved the place! We sat out back on the patio. My husband had the chicken fried steak and I had the pimento cheese appetizer and a jalapeño margarita. Everything was exceptional. We will be back! The couch outside made me chuckle as it gave off Ruth Langmore vibes. read more

Been here many times and now they are charging $5 to change a vegetable out. This is ridiculous. Changing rice to potato is not that much and I cannot eat rice. Will not be back. You have really made me mad. read more

Go somewhere else. We had high hopes for this place because it was fairly close to our house. Sadly we were mistaken. I ordered a peach margarita and my wife ordered the pear. She loved hers, but mine didn't taste like peach at all and it was obviously green. I told our waitress and she took back to the bar. Shortly after she. And back with the same margarita with about an ounce of peach syrup sitting at the bottom of the glass, not mixed at all (I ordered frozen). So things happen, I just tried to enjoy our food. I ordered nachos. Let me say that I'm 40 years old and have ordered nachos more than once. This was the smallest, least flavorful plate of nachos I e ever seen. There may have been 14-15 chips, a sprinkle of chicken, and cheese so runny it wouldn't stay on the chips. It had the same consistency as milk. My wife ordered a second drink, but our waitress didn't bring it until after I had paid and we were about to leave. Poor service, poor drinks, and the food was not good at all. We will never be back. read more

Montez has constantly been improving. The food was usually good, but never changed. Since ownership changed the menu has seen a little growth. What has improved is the quality of the food. Great bar and the patio is the place to sit. read more

We are Foodies and have been here several times. Never has ever disappointed us. Gloria has done a marvelous job with her menu! Lots of seafood items including raw oysters and her staff is trained and super helpful. Try the Prickly Pear Margaritas and the crawfish queso. This is not Tex-Mex!!! My hubs said the Rack of Lamb was the best he's ever had. We've become regulars. I'm not a huge sports fan - I try to avoid it on big game days. The main dining area is fairly quiet even on game days. Quality Food proudly served. Check their hours... they vary. read more

We've been twice - the first time the food was great, the second only ok. Service is ok, a little inattentive out on the patio. Love that they have a patio, but they could definitely stand to upgrade the furniture out there. The picnic tables outside of the patio area are a decent back up plan for when there is an event outside, still a spot for outdoor dining. Service is ok, maybe a little inattentive. We'll try it again for sure, but so far not a stand out for us. read more

The restaurant was very nice and perfect for our double date night. The food and drinks were good. Sister in law loved her Santa Maria (I think that's what it was called) which says a lot because she doesn't like any alcoholic drink she ever orders lol. We all ordered something different and it looked like everyone was happy. Service was good too. Definitely will be back. read more

The owner Gloria is the hardest worker I know. She runs that store so well. From her employees, to the decor to the food and drinks- everything is amazing! The bartender Angela is the best. So sweet and knowledgeable. Some people say the drinks are over priced. But honestly you're paying for the ambience. So it's worth it! The outside area is fun too. We had our Christmas party there, it went off without a hitch. I wish I could give this restaurant a billion more stars! read more

Food: great Service: slow Ambiance: humid Took us about 15 min to figure out what we were going to eat bc they gave us the wrong menu. Our server was a busy bee but somehow slow to get back to us. We've been here many times. Thank goodness tonight our waiter, Vinny, was working. It was a slow night in the main dining with a party on the deck. It's January, and cold. Both front and patio doors were wide open and the restaurant was very cold. Vinny checked on our drink order at least four times, probably more like 6 times. The bartender wasn't very busy and seemed more interested in talking than making drinks. When we finally got ours we were almost finished with the appetizer. Our food was good but not spectacular. The menu is limited and hasn't changed much since they opened. They do have off menu specials. Hate to say it, but they are probably off the list of places to dine. read more

Looks like a fun place for a crowd to let their hair down and get loud. The menu is pretty small and offers more than Mexican food. Our service wasn't stellar but we came at the end of lunch. The server was polite when we got to see them. They did have an interesting drink menu with some unique as well as traditional drinks. read more

Date Night. We sat in the outside patio area. Not too warm. They have large fans moving air nicely. I had the New York Strip medium rare. Mrs had the top sirloin steak. Both of us had the vegetables and mashed potatoes. We both enjoyed the Cesar salad before our dinners arrived. Mrs had her white wine. I chose the Montez margarita. We were both very satisfied. As is our habit, we each gave one another bite of the others steak. She preferred mine as it was left along with a side container of dipping sauce. Hers on the other hand seemed to be covered with a gravy type sauce, which, after tasting my she, determined that she preferred mine slightly better than hers. Not a deal killer in anyway. Service was great. Our waitress asked us to both. Please cut into our stakes to make sure that they were done as ordered. That is a first for me and Mrs. They do add a 3% service charge if you're gonna be using a charge card or a debit card to complete your transaction. They even suggest as an alternative using cash and saving that 3% service charge. Again this is not a deal killer. Both of us read reviews that were not too favorable. But I think it may have been for Villa Montez in Tyler. Ours was in Whitehouse. We experienced no issues and will be coming back in the not too distant future. We recommend everybody give it a try. They have quite an extensive menu. read more

The food is ok. We ate a steak with chimachara sauce. The sauce was not that great, and the steak was seasoned with salt and pepper only. The mixed vegetables had a decent flavor, but it was a lot of big chunks of bell pepper, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were delicious; they were not instant. So, this food with a couple of beers, a margarita, and a dr. Pepper $103. Then, we were given a 3% charge using a credit card. Our server was ok, but she was not worth a 20% tip. I won't be going back. It would be nice to be able to go and enjoy happy hour with my husband, but I won't pay a surcharge for using a credit card. Too expensive for what we were served. read more

Yum. My husband and I frequent this restaurant at least once a week, if not more. We love the atmosphere, food, and drinks. The fries with queso are delicious, Gloria's special is great, but the most underrated menu item has got to be the potato soup. Wow. It is amazing. We literally can't recommend this restaurant more than we do already. We have introduced dozen of friends to it over the years and they have all loved it. read more

Great spot with yummy food and good service! We enjoyed the chicken fried steak and burger. Both were delicious.

My husband I had dinner here and the food was delicious! We had the chips and queso. Loved the queso. I had the Reuben sandwich and he had the steak tacos. Best Reuben sandwich ever! The service was great and we had no wait. I also had the Texas kind of way and I would also recommend it. We will be back here! read more

Arrived at 6:15 and left at 8:05 because we still had not gotten our food and we have a family. Can't be out all night. The manager said that the 45-90 min wait for food was "a good problem to have right?" When we asked about our order. No. It's not great. He didn't offer to box up our food and when we asked for it to go he said he would be right back. 15 mins later we just left. He never came back. The restaurant was too loud to talk across the table, outside was reservation only. The server did not know any of the answers to any of my questions nor did she offer to ask. She talked to her friend one table over and only checked on us twice.. don't forget we were there for almost 2 hours! .. with no food. Thank goodness the margarita was good, but I can find a good margarita somewhere else. Don't plan on coming back. read more
