First time at BJ's today. Greeted and seated promptly, then they even accommodated us in moving tables (NOTE: bring a jacket if you're sensitive to the cold) - some of the tables are directly under the vents and it's COLD! Great atmosphere, very clean and super friendly staff! Now, the important stuff: the food. We started by sharing a wedge salad, complete with bacon, blue cheese dressing, blue cheese chunks (yum!) and all the crispiness a wedge brings. Very fresh and the dressing was a clue cheese lover's dream. Had the pickle ranch wings and the chicken club sandwich with broccoli cheese soup on the side as our entrees. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Now, here's what you should absolutely order if you go here. Do not skip the pretzel with a side of beer cheese or the desserts. The pretzel is like the old Auntie Anne's pretzels in the mall years ago - only a thousand times better!! I will never come here and not order this again every single time. If you like huge, fluffy, salty, crispy on the outside pretzels, this is THE place to get them!! 10 out of 10! For dessert, we got the trio dessert (can't remember the name), but it came with 3 different skillet cookies, topped with ice cream and whipped cream and it was sinful how good they were! We got the chocolate chunk, the caramel and the strawberry shortcake. No words. Just drool. Lots of drool! I can't wait to come back and try their burgers, steaks and pizza - they looked so good too as I watched them being carried out to other tables. They have an extensive menu so you will not have a problem finding something you like. Doesn't compare to other BJ's Restaurant's I've been to. 1. Food was meh. I ordered the three course Prime Rib special for Friday night. Medium Rare. I wanted a loaded baked potato. I ordered sweet potato fries and a chocolate / chocolate pizzookie. Prime Rib came out over cooked. Cosistency and taste was like microwaved roast beef. Cold. Meh. I've had better at other BJ's. In Tyler, Texas Roadhouse is where you wanna be. No loaded baked potato. I was told it was "eight sixed from the kitchen" so I had to settle for mashed potatoes. cold. Meh. Sweet potato fries. Cold. Meh. Wedge Salad - I've seen better. Maybe 80% of the size I'm used to. It tasted good. I ordred a Diet Cherry Coke. They only have Pepsi products here. Service was decent. I tipped the server well. The music sucked at first. Sounded like I was in a club with pounding bass music going at like 190 BPM. It was giving us a headache. read more

My son and I had the tri tip. Wow! You have to try it. It's one of our favorites. I also had a beer suggested to me that was really good. It was called Chimay Blue. The family had pazookie's for desert. I was too full to get one. They had some cool techno music playing over the speakers. The lights were dimmed very nicely. Our waiter was awesome. Super cool guy was working the bar as well. Very knowledgeable about their beers and some others that compare nicely. I also had a drink called the lucky ducky. It comes in a little bathtub with a yellow duck floating in it. It was super tasty. We were so full that we were miserable. lol I'm a good way. We will all be back. I loved everything about my visit to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. The company of friends made the biggest difference, but the restaurant was beautifully decorated, had excellent service, a great menu with lots of variety, and delicious food. I found it a little hard to hear the conversation because the music was a tad loud for me. But other than that, I would not have changed a thing. Our Jeep group met there last evening 08/02. We had several that were there close to an hour before our time to meet at 6pm. They were having a board meeting. On our Facebook page for this event, we had 14 people commit they were coming. At 6pm, we had close to 25 come. There was one waiter assigned to us where there should have been two. Instead of handing the additional people with grace and patience, he became very ugly, angry, insulting and rude. When he was rude to me, I asked him what he was so rude and angry about. After all we had chosen to eat together there instead of choosing a place where we have gone or could have gone. He began telling me that we were not seeing his side of the situation. He preceded to tell me things that were their issues not ours. His complaint should have been to the manager who was working in the kitchen helping with orders. They were short staffed. All of this was not our fault. We simply wanted to have dinner together and support another one of our local restaurants. Instead of reaching out to his manager, he took his complaints out on us. We spent a lot of money there last night and everyone paid their tickets, including the 18% gratuity that was added. Some even gave more because they sensed the waiter's frustration. We do not patronize places where we have been insulted and treated rudely. The decent food did not make up for his rudeness. He said that he has worked there for 11 years, truth or not. I would think that we were not the first time he had to face a larger group than anticipated. I would have thought as a "seasoned " veteran at BJ's, he would have learned a little more about patience and using his words better instead of being hateful and rude. It was discussed in the parking lot after we exited the building, that we find no interest in coming back to BJ's as a group or individually. Waiter's like this young man should not be waiting on the public until he learns that the customers are the reason he has a job. He should be working in the kitchen or bussing tables. read more

We chose BJ's because we were coming from an event on Sunday evening and we needed a kid-friendly restaurant. BJ's is by far one of the most accommodating places for kids. s soon as we sat down they brought out mini fruit cups and goldfish crackers for the kids. This was great. We had Jason and Kanye as our servers, as Kanye was in training. Jason was super helpful and knew the menu very well. After our orders were placed (3 kids meals with Alfredo and spaghetti) and salmon dinner, it took quite a while for the food to come out. The food was good, not exceptional but it was fine. We brought the leftovers to our hotel and ate them for breakfast. I would return because of the extensive kids meals option but I don't think I would return just for the food. Our lunch was so disappointing. We ordered an appetizer & a few minutes later we ordered our meal. We waited & waited for the appetizer, but nothing. Finally a server brought out a house salad with barely any dressing on it. I requested more ranch dressing. Then the spinach dip came out served with stale chips. The salt shaker was clogged so we had no salt. My soup was wrong so I had to send it back. I ordered chicken tortilla but received something that tasted like Campbell's beef vegetable soup. This is what I received after sending the first bowl back! My husband enjoyed his California Club sandwich. However, he couldn't get his tea glass refilled. We arrived around 1:00 on Sunday expecting a long wait, but seated quickly. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and my wife Broccoli Cheese soup and Caesar salad. My scampi was very nice and I was surprised the size and number of shrimp in it. Was very good. My wife liked her soup, but didn't care for the salad. Excellent food, but I guess they were understaffed. It was a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm. Took forever to get seated and the waitress was having to cover many tables. we have had the three course pork chop meal available on weekends multiple times and have really loved it. not any more. it has been a very thick, juicy pork chop in the past and we have split the meal with plenty of food. this time they cut it apart for us, which left one of us with not much to eat at all, but the pork chop seemed to be much thinner than normal, so it wasn't as much food in general. it was also way too salty. the asparagus was thin and tough and had too much pepper. very disappointed that the quality is far below what it has been. won't be ordering again. read more

Huge restaurant. Basic American style menu. Food is decent for the low price, and the drinks are pretty good. They have Freakshow CabSav for around $45 a bottle, which is a good deal and a nice selection for the occasional wine drinker. Whiskey selection is huge! Ordered a rare steak and got medium - all pink and no red in the center. Server didn't even ask me what temp, but I did tell her myself. They didn't seem to understand what I ordered even though I pointed to it in the menu, and forgot my chicken thighs. I let them know, so they brought me a breast. I showed them on the menu that it said thighs, and they brought me a thigh so burnt that it was black. Server also said she "fixed it" on my ticket, but still charged me full price: $26. I spent around $200 between 4 meals, a flight, and bottle of wine. I think the server is new so I still tipped nicely, but I probably won't be back here. read more

Reluctantly agreed to give this place a second chance! Came here about a year ago and was ignored in the bar area for over 15 minutes and then left. Tonight, my wife and I said "let's try it". While I was pleasantly surprised to find more menu offerings in restaurant than are available online, that was the highlight. Even tho the place was empty the hostess gave us grief about seating us with only 4 of our party present, even after I told her we drove 2 hrs and we were there to surprise the bday boy. I've heard about the BJ's chain for quite some time, so I decided that during my brief trip into Tyler, I would try it out. In trying this brand for the first time, I left the location neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed. It was sort of a "meh" experience. THE GOOD: Customer service was really good. The hostess informed me that she would seat me with her best server, of which I agreed that the server was cool & attentive, for the most part. There was one moment where it took her nearly 8 minutes to bring me a glass of ice water due to me biting into a pepper, yet I let it go when I noticed that she had a large table of 8 guests that required 8 drinks + my water on a tray. Yes, I was empathetic toward her current situation. The decor of BJ's was nice. Certainly a place that I would bring my wife to, considering that the artwork looked really good, in addition to the color scheme throughout the venue. Not your typical bar restaurant, that's for sure. THE SO-SO: I'm a major IPA draft brew drinker, and I know a good one when I taste it. The IPA that I had on this evening was so-so: hoppy, yes. But the expected bite: not the best, yet not terrible either. It just didn't leave me excited to order another one. If I like a brew, I usually order 2-3. For tonight, it was one, which is a rarity for me. To top that off, I also enjoy Hefeweizen brews (thank you, Gordon Biersch), which is a German wheat-type of brew. To say the least, the Hefeweizen served at this location was not very good. In fact, it totally sucked. I was grateful for my server in giving me a sample of it first. I couldn't even finish half of the sample, considering that I felt a headache coming on. Yeah, that bad. I'm pretty sure the little man in the freezer had an off-day when it came to tapping the beer kegs today. SMH. The entree of the California flat bread was not bad. I was hungry, so I was not terribly picky about it. But one thing that I noticed was that the flat bread was more chewy as opposed to crunchy. Flat breads usually have a texture to that of a saltine cracker. This flat bread tasted more like a Domino's Pizza thin-crust pizza that was left on the kitchen's heat lamp for 15 minutes. I appreciated the server for not charging me for avocado slices on my flat bread, yet even with that, I thought that it was "meh." But again, I was hungry, and didn't have that "I need a Snickers Bar moment" by being overly too critical. Altogether, I would have to give either this BJs or another one a second try to have a full appreciation of what they offer. For this evening, it wasn't the best, yet not the worst either. I have eaten at BJ's before and have come here often to order a pizookie. This time, though we came around 11:15am and had lunch. We started off with the chips and salsa, which were surprisingly really tasty. I liked that the chips were thicker and the salsa had a great taste to it. I ordered it the chicken club with thin and crispy french fries. The portion was huge and I could not finish all the fries and I was lucky to finish my sandwich. The chicken club was really good. I would definitely order it agian. I loved that it was on garlic texas toast. Yum! My only complaint would be that the avacado was too ripe. I had to scrape it off... Our server was less than enthused to be waiting on our table. She was not friendly and not very quick or attentive. Overall, this was a delicious lunch. I would suggest coming in.
