When the young female was taking my payment she kept touching her left eye to adjust her giraffe eyelashes and I thought do I want her to touch my food? In a few minutes she came by me with another take-out order which was touching the front of her shirt and it made me sick. When I got my take-out order it was upside down and the black eye peas were hard as bricks. This used to be a good place to eat. Not now and the health department should get involved. read more

So making our way back to Houston, my husband found this gem of a place. Who can pass up Fried Green Tomatoes?! Not me, and I'm glad I didn't. Best FGT I've ever had!! The chopped steak was great! My husband graciously shared his chicken fried steak, and I'm grateful he did!! Delish!! The broccoli rice casserole and mac & cheese was also a great hit. I cannot forget the sweet tea!! Waiting on our curbside order that was supposed to be ready at 4:45. We called and let them know we we here and they said it would be out shortly. I called again at 5 inquiring about our order cause we have somewhere to be and she then tells me the mashed potatoes in our order won't be ready for 20 more minutes. I said just do French fries then. Were they just gonna let us sit here for that long? Who is running this joint? I judge an American restaurant based on their ability to deliver a good chicken fried steak. As this was my first time to this chain, I tried the chicken fried duo; both steak and chicken. It surpasses my highest standard!! The steak was absolutely tender and the crust was perfectly crispy. Arguably the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. The chicken was moist and tender and perfect! I must add one concerning detail. While the menu says that their gravy is made "from scratch," it appeared to be a typical restaurant mix. While misleading, it didn't distract from the main event. The French fries were soft. But the fried okra was just right. Our server, Gracie, was personable and attentive. She brought beverage refills before the glass was empty. The atmosphere was pleasant and their menu was good. The ambient noise was slightly too loud for my taste, but not nightclub loud by any means. All in all, I recommend this restaurant and wish it were closer to me to enjoy the best chicken fried steak I've ever had a few more times! read more

Love this place. Quality of the food is consistent. Love the fried mushrooms and chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak dinners. They have good chicken spaghetti also. Came here on our way back to Houston from Dallas. Looks and smells new. Figured it would be good and similar to all the others we've been to. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, kids ordered corn dogs and my husband ordered chicken tenders. I kid you not, they were out of all soups and chicken and dumplings, corn dogs, and chicken tenders. When she came back and told us they were literally out of everything we ordered I thought we were being punked. Unacceptable. I would give zero stars if I could! The burger had the paper from the cheese left on it, my husband found out halfway through eating the burger, needless to say he's furious! My pecan pie that's $6 was half a piece and did not come with caramel sauce or whipped cream. The Dr. Pepper cake was missing the ice cream. Let me start by saying that the restaurant was empty when we walked in, next think you know every table utilized nearly. We ordered 2 appetizers. Fried pickles (sent them back because they were over cooked and the pickles were burnt) & chicken fried bacon(Pretty good). Ordered 2 fish fillets with sides, veggie platter, and fish fillet& shrimp with sides. 10 yr olds review- His fries were hollow and and the outer part was soggy he had to add salt. He said that his fish has a fishy after taste. ( Fish is his favorite, so trust him.) EVERYONES fries were soggy and disgusting . My veggie platter was simply okay, I got mac&cheese, broccoli&rice casserole, black eye peas, green beans, and sautéed squash which was actually mushed, and not sliced & sautéed. On the bright side, our waitress was very nice and deserving of the tip that she received. :) I went for FRIED GREEN TOMATOES and they were out. Had early Sunday dinner with my family. The restaurant was not very busy and we were immediately seated. The server took our drink ordered and returned quickly at which we ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. The server never came back for our food order until she showed up with the fried pickles. They were very good. We ordered and after a long we began to wonder what happened to our salads. I could hear in the kitchen someone asking a server if they had taken care of the dinner salads. Moments later our salads arrived. They were fresh and cold. We also waited for drink refills. The odd thing was, a noted, the restaurant was not very busy and had a full staff with several people walking around or just standing. Many of them walked by our table and you would have thought one of them with nothing to do could have refilled the drinks. Our food was delayed longer as the server said they had to make fresh rice. When the food did arrive parts were cold and parts were steaming hot. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp which was over cooked. I ordered the super fish and shrimp. It was good but they are skimpy on the fries. We will go back if we are in the area as it is Cotton Patch and the food is decent and the service ok. read more

This was sooo good. My wife and I were passing through and stopped here. We didn't know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and vibrant the menus were very professional and the food was as described comfort food with absolutely perfect delivery and execution. We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer I had the chicken fried steak and my wife got the Cajun shrimp duo. Everything was delicious and it was inexpensive too this place is definitely worth an hour out of the way to go again. read more

Unfortunately I will say after 7 years of living here in Ennis I will likely NEVER be back to THIS Cotton Patch again . The wife, kid and I went tonight because I've been craving it and against the wife's judgment we went , and I'll tell ya it was horrible. It took almost 15 min standing at the front door to get a seat and they where virtually dead , I would guess less than 1/4 capacity . Once we where seated they took our drink order which the got wrong, including a missing drink for just 3 of us.... Fine things happen right .. nope they didn't seem to like giving refills. It seemed to be a bother and then they brought out our loaded cheese fries half of which were BURNT. Then took our order and we asked for rolls that normally come out with or before you get you're appetizers and got them right before our food. It took over 30 minutes to get our food with only 4 other tables in the restaurant. When we got it my wife's chicken fried chicken was COLD in the center and sides too, her "fried" okra was undercooked horribly. My order was not only wrong but burnt and I'll include a picture of that as well. I had ordered double French fries as my sides and I received LESS than the amount my child had for her single order with her burger. The fries were also cold. We are very unhappy with the service. It seemed like they only cooked one order at a time. Working in the restaurant business growing up I learned a cook should be taught to start preparing the order as soon as it's received. That means battering the steak fingers as soon as the orders read, laying the chicken on the grill, drop the fries & steak in the fryer while still working on other orders. AND the cooks long hair needs to be in a hair net. Pretty sure if the state dropped in they'd be written up just for that. It took 30 minutes to get our food. Terrible service, dirty tables, decent food. To start, there were plenty of tables and booths available when we arrived, yet the girl took us to a dirty table that she wiped with a wet rag and some type of cleaner. The chairs were full of crumbs as well. She also wiped with the same wet rag. So our seats and table were wet. There was still some type of gravy or dressing on the table after she left. Some unused tables nearby were not cleared off and were dirty as well. So they get a zero for cleanliness. Our waitress was very young and soft spoken and looked new because she kept forgetting what we asked for. I asked for dinner rolls 3 times. Our food was brought to our table by another waitress and I also asked her for rolls and ketchup. She never brought it. When she finally came to ask if we wanted our check I told her we did in fact want our check and that she never brought the rolls. She apologized and said they were in the oven. But the family besides us, who had a different waitress, got their rolls replenished immediately. Our waitress brought us the rolls to go but we wanted them with our meal. Money is tight right now so going out to eat with our kids is a treat and this was not a pleasant experience. Better training for the servers and better cleaning is needed. read more

One of my favorite places to eat, but don't order fries. Never had a good experience with the fries. Other than that, delicious food.

The service was horrible. We ordered fried pickles and they came to the table cold. My wife ordered chicken and dumplings and the dumplings weren't done. I ordered the sirloin steak medium and it was beyond well done with parts of it burnt. The baked potato was cold as well. Hubby and I came in around 5pm and were seated and given menus immediately by a nice young man and were told our server will be right over to take our order. We waited for about 5 -6 minutes before someone came and asked us what we wanted to drink. It was not a regular worker because the other workers had on Cotton Patch T-shirt's. The lady that took our drink order had on regular clothes and was probably a manager because she was telling the other employees what to do. Our drinks came out quickly and we placed our orders. We ordered the fish and shrimp with salad. Our salads came out first and that was the best Caesar salad ever! Very good portion and very tasty! About 10-15 minutes later we were getting full from the salad and rolls. It was taking extremely long for our food to arrive. We stopped eating the salad to be sure we still had room for our fish and shrimp. Finally food came. Our Food tasted good, temperature was good and portions were good. We ate only half our meals before we became full. Hubby had drank all his tea and no one ever came to check on him for a refill. We waited a good 15 minutes and needed to-go boxes and the check. Workers were continuously passing by but never asked us if we needed anything. Hubby stopped another plain clothed lady and told her we have been waiting patiently for someone but no one ever came back to check on us. She apologized and immediately brought our to go boxes and check and said she would be back to take our payment. We got tired of waiting for anything or anyone else and decided to get up and go to the take out register, paid and left. The place was not very crowded and saw workers appearing to be busy, but was actually just moving around doing nothing. This was our third visit to this location. The first two visits were stellar and nothing like this evening. What happened? The lack of service tonight makes us not want to visit this location ever again. I hope the service gets better. The trio appetizer we ordered the avocado dip was severely browned on top like it had been sitting around for a while. They did replace that, which was a good thing. Food is great. Their website blows and Curbside to go is a complete joke. I ordered on the site, got an email stating it failed. Did it again. Then I called. They took my order, got no clear answer if my card was charged. Was told 20 minutes. 57 minutes later they came out with my food and didn't take payment so I'm assuming my card went through. At least once. I'll find out tomorrow if it was twice and deal with it then. Too much hassle, should've just gone across the street to chic-Fil-a As an update I STILL haven't received a refund for my double charge or the items I paid for twice but didn't receive! I was contacted by Judy, provided her everything she requested in a timely manner and nothing. This is the worst example of customer service I've seen in awhile.
