Waffle House, we already ate
Melissa G.

It was yummy. It was the best and they got us our food way too fast like we and it was so yummy and it was fast here to get on the table. From Connor.

Grits... waffles... eggs... need I say more? Waffle House is a staple for me. There are zero WHs in San Antonio (sad face) so when I see one the hubs already knows. He better pull over or be ready to take me the next day! This location had great service and really good food. That's really all that's needed!

Stopped by after work with the better half. Greeted by a very friendly young lady. Come in, sit where you like. Waitress was Kaci, very attentive. Ordered the cheesesteak bowl and the bacon cheesesteak patty melt. Both were delicious! The bowl is hashbrowns, melted cheese, steak and grilled onions. Will be back. Keep up the good work yall.

Great breakfast, me and my family come once a week. All staff are nice and they get your food out in a decent time even if it is busy.

I've visited Butter and Grace three times now, once with a friend and twice alone. The servers have…read morealways been friendly and attentive, and the food is consistently fresh. Even though they are often busy , everyone is always friendly, practicing teamwork and quickly turning tables. Restaurant is always clean and bright and always feels welcoming. My first visit was just for coffee and a slice of their coconut meringue pie, and honestly, that pie is the reason I came back. It is absolutely delicious. The second time I visited, they were in the middle of a busy breakfast rush. Crowded spaces aren't really my thing, so I grabbed my pie to go, and it was just as good at home. On my most recent visit, I ordered my usual coconut meringue pie along with the hamburger steak from the lunch menu. They were able to turn it into more of a breakfast meal for me with eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, plus brown gravy for the hamburger steak. Everything was amazing. Definitely a nice spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I recently learned they're also open later on certain days, so dinner will be next on my list. And yes, I'll probably still get the coconut meringue pie. I Think I'll order a whole pie for thanksgiving this year.

Let me start by saying, we have been to this restaurant and location before. Typically, the…read moreservice is okay, today it was terrible. Took a while for anyone to take our drink orders. I ordered ice tea, husband ordered coffee and orange juice. Throughout the meal, never offered refills for the coffee or tea and had to ask twice to get the coffee refilled. One bus person was told, and he literally just walked away and didnt even go near the coffee. Never returned, never looked our way and realized oh darn I forgot, nothing. Told the server once, she forgot, then when she passed, pointed to the coffee finally got some. Morning breakfast, I would think passing coffee would just be a norm. For food, I had the corned beef Bennie and it was good. Portions were okay. Husband had biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash browns, hash browns were burnt. Not very good. Overall, the food is good, the service is iffy. And I am not a prude, but honestly the attire they wear is a little off-putting. Short shorts, baggie shirts that are old and worn, and crochet vests. Holey jeans, short leggings. I don't know, not looking for a uniform, but maybe just a little bit cleaner and more presentable.

Pop's Burger Stand - Pops Double Combo

Pops Burger has that classic American diner look that I really liked. The whole place felt bright, fun, and very old-school. The lady at the front was super nice and sweet too. I ordered the Pops Double Combo with American cheese, ketchup, pickles, and onions. The burger was really good. The patties were tender and full of that familiar grilled beef flavor, with a nice little char around the edges. The American cheese melted right into the meat and gave it that creamy, salty flavor that just belongs on a classic burger. The pickles added a sharp little crunch, while the onions brought a bit of sweetness. Just tasted like a really good old-fashioned burger. The kind of flavor I recognized right away, but somehow better than I remember. The bun, beef, cheese, ketchup, pickles, and onions all worked together perfectly.

The restaurant is well-known for its root beer floats, but since we were already stuffed from our meal, we'll have to save that for our next visit. I ordered my go-to, the mushroom burger, with fries and a drink. My husband went with the "Low and Slow" burger and a side of onion rings. The onion rings were absolutely delicious--thin and crispy, exactly the way I like them! The setup is simple: you order at the register and then find a seat. The atmosphere is fantastic, like stepping back in time with all the antique objects decorating the space. I especially loved the "Elvis wall" near the women's restroom. Elvis holds a special place in my family's heart, so that was a really lovely touch. Great food and a wonderful vintage vibe. We'll definitely be back to try those floats!
