Waffle House you know what to expect. This one was clean, the workers there were really working hard to keep it clean and the customers happy. One of the better ones I have been to. I came in for a late night dinner and expected it to be a while to get my food. Not the case at all, they only had 2 employees and they were really nice and fast. The order was put in and we had our food within minutes. Literally best service for late night with more than 3 orders. Good taste good and everything was accurate. read more

Northern California has it all . . . except for two very important institutions. Sure, we're blessed with perfect weather, ocean views, exorbitant real estate prices, but we are deprived of two very important American icons: Waffle House and Dunkin Donuts. It's not surprising that every time my travels take me to the Southern states, I have to visit a Waffle House (or two). I always order the same thing: the All-Star special with scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, wheat toast and double waffle. This huge breakfast, plus a cup of coffee, will cost you $8.50 - $10.50, depending on the location. "Prices and participation may vary," as they say. Some people think that Waffle House is just like Denny's or some other sub-par establishment, but it's quite different. It's an American institution. And the food tastes better, too. For a greasy spoon diner, it's not bad at all. This particular Waffle House had it all: the waitress with Lysol in her hand, a Mexican family with 3 screaming kids, a non-smoking section less than 2 feet away from a smoking section with no dividers . . . It was exactly what I expected from a Waffle House. Remember to tip your waitresses well. Forget 15% of the bill; be a high roller and give them a couple of bucks. They will appreciate it! read more

Yup..., like the previous reviewer..., I'm from Northern California..., and I like Waffle House..., and yet space-time remains intact. This was my first experience w/ Waffle House. I've visited Ennis a few times, but never got around to the Waffle Experience. In fact..., I always thought the "Whataburger" building was the Waffle House. Instead..., it was a WTF moment when I realized that the double-wide mobile home sized bldg behind the burger joint was in fact, Waffle House. This particular Waffle House has a lot of miles on the odometer..., but it also has a lot of hard won character. It was noisy and it was cramped, and yet at the same time, despite the pandemonium, the staff were very friendly, courteous, and efficient (maybe 6 minutes from order to table, and they got the order right). It was kinda apparent that this was the Waffle House where everyone knows your name. Despite the visuals..., it had a good vibe. The food was EXACTLY what I expected. Not high cuisine for sure, but absolutely serviceable. So..., whenever I'm in Ennis, I will be returning to the Waffle House every Sunday for my once a week "traditional" breakfast. I would not recommend this place. The food might have been good but after waiting for our order to be taken for twenty minutes, we decided to leave. I even attempted to pay for the drinks we had while waiting and was given much attitude from the waitress, Sabrina. While waiting, we noticed the cook sitting down in the back playing on his phone. Was nice and fresh, loved the pecan waffle. Staff, two young men we're very polite. The grilled cheese steak was delicious.

Went to this Waffle House on 1-7-18. Wasn't very pleased. Fiancé ordered Grits as part of her meal. There were several large chunks that were coagulated, as if they were made by mistake and was just set aside for the next customer to order. There was syrup all over the blinds at our table. It took a while for the waitress to bring silverware after my fiancé had her food. She brought the wrong plate for me and another waitress told her it was her other table who ordered that. The syrup bottle was completely covered in syrup. Some general cleaning needs to happen there. read more

after midnite, on a Monday..place was empty...ordered omelette w/extra egg, ham & cheez, scattered & smothered hb's, coffee...everything was perfectly executed and tasted fantastic...service awesome...followed up with angus burger from.dollar menu...was also very tasty. i am a resident of ennis. i frequent the waffle house there often. two days ago i was there and ordered a bacon angus cheeseburger plate. i noticed the cook with gloved hands handling RAW bacon and Raw hamburger meat then with the same gloved hands she was handling the lettuce tomatoes pickles onions and cheese and buns. cross contamination yes. i quietly asked the cook about this she said nothing and continued with this. i asked another waitress about this she said the cook was new. ha. what an excuse ... doesnt management train these cooks in proper food handling procedures? so i told the waitress i wasnt going to eat this food and i walked out. thinking this issue would be taken care of i returned the next day to eat there and low and behold the same cook was still doing the same things. i talked to the manager on duty and she said there was supposed to be one person with gloved hands handling the vegetables and the other cook handling the RAW meats only. hmmmm well why then hadnt the manager on duty made sure the proper food handling procedures being followed. is it poor management? so i asked the manager on duty to give me the number of the supervisor she said his name was jason and furnished the number, i called this number and got the supervisors voice mail. its been a day and so far no return call from the supervisor. is this the normal way for this complaint to be handled? if so i will never again eat there again. read more
