Got food to go on a whim. It was still delicious when I got home and will definitely return. I was impressed for a chain

I'll start by saying this, the food is very good and very well priced. The young hostess at the front is very smiley and friendly. A great start to your experience. Unfortunately it's been down hill from there every time. This latest experience involved a server change mid meal, with no manager visit to let us know why. Our new server became overwhelmed and not being able to keep us. We waited 20 minutes to pay and finally walked up to the server station to ask a manager to pay us out. When I tried to talk to the manager he suggested we talk in a different spot and then he just walked me out the front door. He just kept saying the closing manager made cuts and thleft and I'm just in my 4th day of training. How can a guy in his 4th day be left alone on a Friday nights. It's a darn shake because the steak and shrimp combo might be the best deal in town but by the time it hits my table I'm us usually too thirsty and frustrated to enjoy it. To update I filled out the online form requested but never heard back. Second time this has happened as well. Such a shame. I once loved this place until today. Not many people in restaurant but it took 15 minutes to get drink order and another 25 minutes to get our food. We saw others that arrived after us get their food first. We ordered all you can eat catfish and 6 oz sirloin. The fish was nuggets not filets and they were cold overcooked. It appeared they gave us old food or it sit back there too long. The steak was so hard and dry you could not even chew it. Manager tried to make it better but I was so disappointed I just wanted to leave the place. I now see why the place was not busy. If it nuggets say that on ad. Maybe bought out or new management. We tried this place for the first time and were super disappointed! Ordered the chicken fried steak and chicken fritters. Both of them were chewy and almost inedible. The chicken from the fritters seemed processed and not like real chicken filets. The mash potatoes were extremely dry and stale. Didn't receive any dinner rolls either.. For the price, it's definitely not worth it. We won't be returning. read more

I have fallen in love. This is my first time having Cotten patch let alone I got my order Togo and everything was amazing. The food wasn't super hot and it wasn't super cold. It was just right. I got fried chicken, which normally I cannot eat chicken without hot sauce but this chicken was so dang on good that I was about to be 100% satisfied with eating it with just the jalapeño gravy. The crunch to the chicken alone with the flavor was outstanding. You would've thought Gordon Ramsey cooked my order. The broccolis rice was also surprisingly very tasteful. I also got some potato soup that was good. The whole office ordered from there and our order was ready within 20 minutes. The only thing I'd suggest is not cramming everything into one bag because my bag ripped completely open but I got quick hands and caught everything before I got to miss out on this delicious order. I ate here for the first time just the other day. And BOY do I regret not going here sooner! The staff were friendly, the waitress we got was super helpful and answered all of our questions. I ordered the sirloin steak, and I wasn't disappointed. It was cooked exactly to my liking, it was tender, and really juicy. My sides were mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Both of those were amazing as well. In all, I highly recommend stopping by this location for an awesome yet affordable meal. read more

There wasn't anything wrong but there also wasn't really anything remarkable. CFC was okay the chicken itself wasn't super flavorful but the gravy was nice. My Mac and cheese was cold and a little glue like, green beans were pretty much from a can so hard to go wrong there, I also ordered a bake potato I ate it but it tasted like it came from a Wendy's drive thru . Ordered the ribeye, baked potato and salad to go. Half the steak was fat and it was rare - I ordered medium. The baked potato was old and dried out. I tried putting toppings in it but the potato was just too dried out - had to carve it open with a steak knife and a baked potato should not be BROWN inside - inedible. Salad appeared to be okay but came with balsamic dressing instead of the French dressing I ordered. This meal couldn't have been more underwhelming. I eat at another Cotton Patch fairly regularly and the food is usually fairly decent so I don't know if what I got tonight is typical of this restaurant or they just save the old baked potatoes and roll for the takeout customers. Either way, I won't be returning here and don't recommend this location. read more

Pretty typical chain restaurant. The food is heavy, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. The chicken fried steak was a good lunch portion (pretty big!). Oh my word!! They finally brought back the chicken fried bacon!! I would literally place 2 orders of this and take it on my flight with me to share with my husband!! Thank you, thank-you!! I visit here when I'm in town and I bragged about it so much to many family and friends, that when they visited- my sister called me immediately and said it's not on the menu anymore!! So now I've been redeemed and can start bragging about it again!! YAY!! All the other food I ordered was great, tasty and worth bragging about! I can't believe how many slices of bacon you get on the BLT and it hangs off the bread by 2"- all around! So good- the only complaint on the take away order, is I knew it was going to be soggy on the bottom by the time we arrived to where I was staying- but it was filling. Love how this restaurant has a wide variety of items on their menu. It does seem unfocused at first glance, but I have yet to order something that didn't taste good. Although the food is quite satisfying, it does seem saltier than a usual sit down American restaurant. Service will always impress here. The waiters are soooo nice. The last time I visited, I was helped by a super friendly waiter who went above and beyond for everything. He even did a great job of checking on our table without being too overwhelming. There are specials on each day of the week except for Fridays and Saturdays. I can't remember them off the top of my head, but I'm sure the website can state them. These specials are great because you can get (pretty much) an entire meal for less than $8-7. Oh and by the way, the portion sizes here are very large. I usually have trouble finishing everything on my plate, including the sides. My go-to sides are the mashed potatoes (mainly because they offer both brown and white gravy to choose from) and the broccoli casserole. Very hearty, thick rice with whole chunks of broccoli. It's hard to find a casserole that has the soft rice consistency, but keeps the vegetables from being overcooked. Cotton Patch does just this. Chicken fried steak is a strong notable item on the menu. I have taken the risk and also ordered a ribeye steak from here. I'm usually skeptical of ordering steaks from places other than a steakhouse, but Cotton Patch has a fairly consistent ribeye. I wouldn't say it's the best quality, but it is one that satisfies. Honestly, I've seen so many people order such a large variety of items from the menu and enjoy it. Cotton Patch is a pretty average American restaurant, but you will always get spectacular service, which is why it earns a 4th star. If you're looking for a laid back restaurant with a southern vibe, it's a great place to go! read more

First time ever in a Cotton Patch. Came in looking for my next chicken fried steak home destination, as my favorite of several years has fallen way off the mark. Didn't really have high hopes, as good chicken fry's are usually grown in smaller, one of a kind hatcheries. Anyway...this one has been here a couple years? Really nice inside, lots of room, and clean on my visit. Seated quick, the wait was quick to the table, got my drink order, then returned for my order. Pretty big menu as well. I couldn't believe they had bacon cheese fries, so I had to try a small order, and went with the chicken fry, with broc/rice casserole and garlic mashed potatoes. They bring out bread, and while the roll size is huge, they're kinda airy, not much density. It was good tho. My cheese fries come out, small serving is still pretty big, with real cheese melted on the fries, and it sure looked to me like fresh cooked bacon. The fries were pretty good. Chicken fry hits the table, the broc/rice casserole was very good, the mashed potatoes were fine, but honestly, most any place does decent good mashed pots, so... Thankfully there wasn't this huge amount of garlic in them, didn't taste a lot, but enough. The chicken fry was cooked well, breading stayed on, wasn't falling off all over the place, and the steak quality was pretty tender and good. No over breading where the steak part is much smaller than it looks, and it was a thick enough cut to be fine. Now, the important part...the gravy was pretty good overall. Not to thin or thick, just right. Sadly, while it at least had some seasoning to it, it was very slight. Didn't require a large dosing of salt and pepper, but it did need it for my tastes. I still think most places do bland gravy as a way to try to keep most of the masses happy. However, it was still pretty good overall. I was happy for the most part, and I will go back at some time to try other things on the menu that looked interesting. I left with a better impression of the place than I thought I would. This location is better than Cedar Hill!!! The food was good there but was awesome here!!!! Everything was just sooo fresh! The queso was very tasty and different than others... Can't quite put my finger on it!!! I had the chicken fried chicken which was huge and my friend had the chicken fried steak and it was enormous!!! One of the managers Jessica... The last time I went to a Cotton Patch was 8 years ago in College Station. I ordered the fried catfish fillets and remembered liking it. I was kinda excited to see one in my neighborhood. My hubby ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, my mother ordered the catfish fillets and I ordered the shiner fish and chips. My 3 yr old daughter shared with my mother and I. My mother, daughter and I really enjoyed our dishes. The fish was fresh and moist. oh and the jalapenio hush puppies were great. Hubby wasn't fond of his dish, hence why I gave it 4 stars. Cotton Patch is known for "home cooking" and We were craving Chicken Fried Steak so decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is spotless and the staff - from the front door greeter to the waiter to the mingling manager - could not have been more attentive or friendly. It probably would be more fair if we had tried more diverse menu items but we all ordered the CFS and were pretty disappointed. The meat was tough and flavorless. We also ordered queso and it was surprisingly good - much better than many Mexican Restaurants. And the broccoli rice casserole was really good. I went into this establishment on sunday with a party of 4. I have been here many of times & have been pleased with each visit. This day was different but turned out good. My party's food arrived & mine didn't. I was fine with waiting. But once it did arrive the order was wrong and I just gave up and said never mind. My party was almost done and I was just ready to go. A manager by the name of Jessica came over & insisted that I not leave her establishment unhappy & hungry. She went above and beyond the call of duty. When my third party delivered order was missin' the dippin's I called this Cotton Patch restaurant and they made it right! Right away. The manager heard my story and even though I was calling their awesome Avocado Ranch dressing "Remoulade" (at least part of the problem, I realized) he brought the dressing & the extra gravy for my Chicken Fried Steak to my door, himself!!! We arrived at 8:30, they close at ten. When we arrived there weren't 20 customers in there eating. We were told at the hostess stand that they were "on a kitchen wait" and it would be 30 minutes up to an hour. We asked if we could be seated to wait with a beverage. The host said no, we could wait in the bar (only one seat available at the bar). We said we would just wait. After about 5 minutes of waiting, the manager approached us and said he understood we were upset. We indicated we did not understand why we couldn't be seated. He said he didn't want us to get bad service. I tried to make him understand it is not bad service if we were told in advance of the wait. The "bad service" was not being able to be seated to wait. He then informed us it would be 45 minutes to an hour wait and then it would be time for them to close. I don't understand the purpose of telling us it would be an hour wait. I feel as if he just didn't want to serve anyone else. They are open until ten but didn't want to serve anyone after 9:30. We will not return to this restaurant. The manager was concerned about us receiving bad service but he just provided us with the worst customer service I have ever received at a restaurant. This restaurant needs a manager more concerned with customer service because this one didn't care. read more

My husband and I went to the Cotton Patch in Arlington, TX this afternoon, Sunday, May 23 at 2:40 PM. They were fairly busy but had several booths and tables available. The receptionist got really rude when we asked why we couldn't be seated at one of the available locations, rather than wait 20 minutes, so we asked to speak with the manager. There was no reason it should take 20 minutes. The manager was even ruder than the receptionist. We ended up leaving. Businesses need to be more accommodating and concerned about their customers. Won't ever go ba CJ to this restaurant and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. read more

Doordash delivery of 2 chicken fried steak dinners, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and order of fried pickles. Both came with no gravy. Who the heck eats this with no gravy? My okra tasted like it had been sitting for hours, very hard and stale. I couldn't even eat it. The fried pickles were the same way, couldn't eat it. And also, the 2 types of ranch ordered with the pickles? Yep, a no show. So no gravy or ranch. When i called to complain, the only explanation i got from the young lady who answered was that they were extremely busy and that some orders may not get what they are supposed to get. Really? That's your explanation? Who's in charge of making sure orders are correct before they leave the place? Unfortunately, the same thing happened to my inlaws last night. I love coming to Cotton Patch for lunch or dinner! It's good ol' home cookin and I'm a big fan!! I wish the sweet tea was a little more consistent. It's a hit or miss sometimes and I feel like if you want to be a good down home comfort food kind of place, you should consistently deliver delicious sweet tea! It's sometimes too watered down or not sweet enough, but when the recipe is right, it's awesome! I'm usually one to try different things on the menu, but I honestly can't get enough of the pork chops here. It's a little bit on the salty side, but I like that. The sides I always get are the steamed veggies and the broccoli cheese casserole, and if you love cheese and or broccoli and haven't tried it, you NEED to. It's fantastic. It's ridiculously cheesy rice with pieces of broccoli and I find myself eating it way too quickly every time!!!! People who tend to never finish their plate or like to share should look into the items on the menu marked with an asterisk by it. This means that the plate has the option of making it a "right size plate," which basically means half of the normal order. Great place if you're craving southern cooking! read more

I've visited this location and every time has been enjoyable. The staff is attentive and friendly and I haven't had to wait more than 25 minutes even on a busy weekend evening. So far, I've had the Chicken and Dumplings, and the Cajun Duo (I've had it twice actually). There is a noticeable amount of salt but it's something I expect every time to go out to eat at a restaurant. The food was good regardless. Always warm and never dry. I was about to take the last remaining roll home before the waitress dropped off a bag of fresh rolls at the table especially for me and let me tell you: I love rolls. This was a nice gesture and I really appreciated it! Did I mention that I love rolls? Because I do. The steamed vegetables were sad one of the times I visited but the portions in general are a very sizable amount. I'll visit again sometime. :D read more

I love the Cotton Patch Cafe. I went with my friend, craving some chicken fried chicken. Seated immediately, we were served cabbage and black eyed peas for the New Year. Served shortly after ordering, our plates were hot and the food was delicious! No one can beat the smashed red potatoes! Comfortably full, we got to-go boxes because the lunch portions are big also (no complaints from me). My iced tea glass was never empty, as was the rolls basket.
