I tried my best to like this salon as it's location is convenient, but it always misses the mark. My nails last never more than two weeks. Recently, I went in for an SNS manicure and my nails chipped less than 24 hours later. I went the next day for them to fix the chip (and they did) but then three more nails chipped within two days. Given the extent of the chipping, I went back and asked if I could get a discounted manicure. The woman at the front desk said it's up to her manager (and never asked). I paid full price for another SNS manicure and gel pedicure and decided to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it off until that manicure chipped a day later. Within four days, all of my nails were chipped. I ended up hauling across town to my tried and true nail salon for my third manicure in three weeks. That manicure (not from cosmopolitan) has held without issues for three weeks. I had an appointment scheduled for 2/22, and I was disappointed when Deri chose to assist another client despite knowing I had a confirmed appointment. When I expressed my concern, she became upset and told me I should book with someone else. I believe Deri could benefit from additional customer service training, as this type of experience may continue to cost the salon loyal clients. I originally scheduled a same day Friday appointment but was unable to make it. I called to cancel and was encouraged to walk in for an appointment, which worked in my favor! They were able to accommodate me rather quickly and did an amazing job! My nail tech Deri was SO THOROUGH and she made my nails look so clean and polished. I decided to try this salon after seeing their service list online, which stated that an acrylic set with regular polish was $45. However, when I went in, I was charged $65 instead. I had booked an appointment for 1:00 PM for exactly that service, but when the nail tech realized I wanted regular polish (not gel), she became visibly upset and told me she wasn't going to do her best work because of it. I still allowed her to do the manicure, trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but the result wasn't good. When I pointed out that my nails didn't look right, she simply said that was "the best she could do" with regular polish. I asked why they even offered regular manicures if they couldn't provide good results with them. I understand that many salons now focus mostly on gel, but I prefer regular polish and made sure to check the website before booking. Whether that's sitting in a chair for 3+ hours for regular gel nails, waiting 30+ mins past my appointment time only to find out I won't be able to see who I requested my appointment with, or lack of professionalism in general. I paid $76 for 2 nail repairs and a French manicure (that I had to coach my technician through). Had fine and fairly priced service. I came for a gel removal and a simple manicure. I know I came in at opening on a Saturday as a walk-in, but my service felt a bit rushed. Also, when removing my gel manicure, the technician only used a buffer, which I know is normal. But I think it was too strong because my nails feel all cut up and bumpy now. At my previous nail salon, whenever they removed the gel manicure, they first covered each nail in acetone and foil for about 20min. Then they gently buffed the gel off each nail so that my nail was still smooth after removal. I'm new to Navy Yard. While this location is super convenient, I might shop around at different nail salons before committing to this one. read more

I have been coming to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge consistently for months now and it is by far the happiest I've ever been with my nails. I always go to SK, he is absolutely THE BEST nail tech I've ever had. I can't speak to any of the other techs as I always schedule with SK and absolutely refuse to go to anyone else. I've been getting my nails done for years and before I came to SK, they were seriously suffering. I used to get gel all the time, but it made my nails so weak because of the soaking in acetone and the drilling. I tried gel X, thinking that would protect them more, but had the same problem. My nails were getting so so thin from the soaking/drilling that when they drilled, I felt like I was feeling it on my actual finger through the nail. I tried dip and just hated how it looked -- never truly smooth and the color actually changes. SK told me that acrylic was the best solution because they can be filled, so my nails do not need to get soaked and the drilling is only on the acrylic, never on my actual nail. I was very skeptical because I've always thought of acrylic as kind of trashy -- I've always thought it was too thick and hated the look of it. However! SK does the acrylic so so thin, no one believes me when I say it's acrylic. It looks like regular gel nails, but is strong (never had a nail he's done break) and keeps my real nails SO MUCH STRONGER. I also always leave happy and loving what I got. It used to be that I'd go get my nails done and always be a bit disappointed -- the shape was never quite right or there would be one or two that were a little off/weird etcetera. I never have that anymore. SK is absolutely the best at shaping, at consistency, and he always gets the color right. I've gotten French tips from him several times and he custom matches the base coat for my skin tone so it looks just right. He will tell you if a particular color won't suit you, warn you if you're getting something that may not last as long/well (e.g., French tips if you're always in the pool or matte polish in general), and he always goes the extra mile if I have a design I want. For example, I'd been seeing the tortoiseshell trend everywhere and wanted it so SK ordered special polishes to the salon just to be able to do it right (the picture doesn't come close to doing them justice). read more

On the 31st of May I paid almost $140 for a gel pedicure and a dip manicure. My manicurist told me that using gel color on top of only a dip base would be best (even though I should have known better, I let her proceed). By the 4th of June the manicure had completely fallen apart- the gel does NOT want to adhere to nail extensions and they weren't allowed to dry properly so it is bubbly, uneven, chipping, and sticky. The pedicure also has sticky and chipping areas. Not only was it a waste of money for only getting a few good days out of my nails (WITH bubbles and unevenness), but I also paid for dip when she used all but one coat of gel. read more

Let me start by saying that they do a good job the problem is the only time they have been relatively on time doing my nails is right when they open at 10am. I have been here several times now for a simple pedicure only - no long acrylics, no designs, no crystals, not even gel - just a regular pedi. I was convinced to work with Sunny after a friend raved about her and then my mom tried her. I wanted to try someone I could do some designs with - so I gave it a shot. She's adorable / lovely !! I told her how frequently I've been nicked and she went slower and used the bigger grill I'm comfortable with. She was super patient and listened to exactly what I wanted. She did a pedi for my mom that also looked great so I'm going to try that when my regular spot / person is unavailable - since my moms pedi still looks great 4 weeks later. Covid-19 Review: There are plexiglass dividers at all of their manicure and pedicure stations and customers are seated in every other station. All employees wear masks and gloves throughout the process. I felt very safe and comfortable while getting my nails done. They have an extensive selection of different types of polish and a variety of colors. I've made appointments in advance over the phone or online and I've also been a walk-in (riskier because they're usually busy). I'd recommend making an appointment in advance now that there are fewer appointments available due to the limited capacity. I've never had a bad manicure or pedicure by any of the nail technicians. I have been here 3 times and all 3 times have been horrible experiences. I get dip/sns and with three different nail techs my fingers have been cut and have bled. I proceeded to tell them they cut my finger (it is obviously bleeding) and they proceed to dip it in alcohol/acetone. I now have marks on my fingers, the dip is extremely thick making it look fake on my real nails, and it has been one week that I got them done and they are starting to fall apart. Pros - it's super convenient that customers are able to book appointments online. You can even request specific manicurists to perform your service, which is great. This salon has talented manicurists working here, and you can pretty much bring them any design/style to put on your nails. Cons - What's the point of scheduling in advance if you do not stick to your schedule? Expect to wait when you arrive, regardless of whether or not you have an appointment. They don't even have the common courtesy to call you ahead of time if they're running behind. They also nickel and dime you for every little thing, so be sure to confirm what the price is of everything, including take off, designs, callus removal, etc. TL;DR - you can do better, but come here as a last resort if you have to. read more

Now that I no longer live Tyson's Corner, I'm not close to my nail tech of 8 years at the Ritz Carlton. So, I had to find one close and the best in SW DC. I found out that Jesse who use to do my nails when I got acrylic decades ago is at this location. Jesse is the best of the best if you're lucky to a get a slot with her. Okay, so here it is: Pros - always do a stellar job, and work quickly, but the gel manicures last a solid 14-16 days. The nail specialist staff are all friendly, I've never had a bad experience! Also, the prices are so reasonable for this location and the wide selection of colors they have. Cons - everytime I come for a gel manicure, I make an apt and every time I come on time for my apt and check-in, I end up waiting about 15-20 minutes. I once was told, "we're just busy". That's fair, but once it hit 20 minutes, that just seemed to be pushing it. When I checked in, they sat me in a chair and I waited for another 10 minutes. These things happen every now and then, but for it to happen every single time even with an apt? Make sure you carve out plenty of time when coming for your apt. read more

She was extremely kind and friendly and made me feel welcomed. I was pleased at how well she did my SNS manicure- even with me being so picky. She now has a new loyal client from now on! I have never written a review of any sort before but this experience was so frustrating I created account to share. I booked a mani/pedi after work for 5:30 pm. Arrived and checked in. I was asked a few minutes in if I wanted to stay with my assigned stylist or any available and I said "any" assuming it would mean I would be taken right away which is interesting anyways because I had a confirmed appointment with a stylist so that would assume she is available because she was confirmed at the time I booked for the services I requested. I then proceeded to wait 25 minutes before anyone came to me even after 10+ individuals who checked in after me got sat and had their nails started to be worked on. Finally the receptionist told me to go to a pedicure chair so I got up and proceeded to sit there for 15 + minutes and not a single person came up to me as I was sitting there with my feet in the water. I saw a lady who had an appointment 45 minutes after me got sat and had services started. It got to a point where I had waited so long I no longer had time to get my services done anymore. I got up with soaked feet to the receptionist told tell her my appointment was so long ago I no longer have time to get the services done and can she just cancel the appointment. she looked at me as if I had done something wrong, did not even say "sorry" or "can we rebook you". just glared at me as I said okay thanks anyways have a nice day. awful experience. complete waste of an hour of my time and will be the first and last time I ever try this place. just wanted to warn any new comers that they may not honor a confirmed appointment time and even when's you agree to let any nail stylist serve you they do not care. 0/10. do better read more
