Went to Rana for my first time getting my eyebrows threaded on the recommendation of someone else, though I'd been plucking and tweezing and waxing my eyebrows for a very long time. I needed a re-shaping in addition to a major clean-up. I was very happy with Rana's work: my eyebrows are naturally quite different in shape and hair direction, and I do have some scarring from too much waxing where hair no longer grows. She worked to make them look at least like "sisters" (rather than distantly related cousins). She was quick and pleasant. Seconding some reviews here that say that Rana will not give you thinner brows - in fact, she just kind of does what she wants. My two eyebrows have slightly different shapes (very slightly) and instead of just going with the slightly thinner one (so they could match) she did the most minimal amount of work an eyebrow lady has done in her life on me and told me to grow out the other one so they could match. She also insulted my eyebrows, which seems like it's in bad taste. So now I'm rocking one brow with no arch (because she told me to grow it out rather than just actually doing it) and no definition or sharpness at the ends, and the other brow is exactly how it looked when it came to her, minus the obvious growth on my brow bone. Almost every threader I've ever been to also takes a small scissor to trim off the tops of my eyebrows because they're long - she did not. Now all of that hair is longer too. In one word: underwhelming. I get my brows done regularly, and all she really had to do was clean them up. That's not difficult. Instead she did the least amount of work possible, left hair that shouldn't have been in the shape, and charged me $14 for it. I don't want to give her 1 star, but I'm getting increasingly annoyed as I write this review. I don't inherently dislike thick brows - but because my natural brows lack shape, I find that when they're thinner, they add much more dimension to my face. TL;DR: if you like sharp, defined brows, do not go to Rana. She will give you whatever she feels like giving you. In this case it's thick and shapeless brows. read more

Found Rana on Yelp. It's surprisingly hard to find a good threading place in DC and I've finally found it. I'm used to paying $12 for brows and upper lip in Brooklyn and I paid $26 with Rana which is disappointing but it's comparable to other places in DC. I typically get a big red bump on my eyebrows for a day or two after threading and I was very happy that after going to Rana, it didn't happen. She put alcohol on my brows before threading which I think prevented it. Bring cash to tip because the salon she works out of won't process it on a card!
