Cavalry salon was my first experience of receiving a hair cut in DC! It was one of my top recommended Yelp searches and I thought I'd give it a try. I called to see if I could do a same day appointment and they were so flexible! I was able to schedule one two hours out from when I called. I did arrive early as I did not want to take the metro and instead drove. You have to keep an eye out for parking. Just keep your travel time in consideration when visiting the area. The salon is on the second floor and is quite easy to find. I had Yvonne give me a haircut and she was so quick with the process. My cut was pretty simple and I just wanted several inches shorter with long curtain bangs. I had it styled at the end too! Not to mention, I was given a deep conditioning treatment. I'm not sure how much that costs but for all the services I received it came out to a decent price ($125). PS there's a store mascot here (some doggos) so just keep that into consideration if you have allergies. I'm sure if you have your dog with you this business is pet friendly. read more

I'd like to respond to Cavalry's salon manager, as I feel that there are things that were said that were not clarified. The damage to my hair was so severe that it is not until 2022 my hair is healthy. My hair was damaged here winter of 2018. The fact that the manager said I refused to allow for proper steps to be completed is untrue. In fact, the only step that I stated to not move forward one was the heat styling. She also never coached me on guidance of bleach, I would never say - continue forward, bleach my hair with no care in the world. In fact, what she did do, was heavily foil my hair. Leave the bleach on beyond the timer (yes, she offered to do a gel manicure whilst doing so) and must have not been paying attention, additionally, when my hair was not lifting quick enough she took a blow dryer (with the directed drying attachment) and placed the dryer directly onto each foil - to which I said, please no!, I have never had that done before, that seems damaging and Yvonne stated it needed to be done to lift my brassiness - if that is proceeding with caution, that is awe striking. Additionally, while in hysterical tears, her husband refused to take my debit card out of my hand. My hand was literally extended, as I cried, saying please just charge it so I can go home. He refused to accept payment. read more

About 10 of my friends and I are loyal clients because the salon is always clean and the work is high quality. Aliya makes you feel like the most beautiful person in the world, always has a positive attitude, and does the BEST job. I get SNS because my nails don't hold polish at all, and she makes it so that it lasts for at least 3 weeks. She also fixes any issues if they do come up for free. I have the worst nails and cuticles and she spends however long she needs to making me look great. During these crazy times, they have taken every precaution to keep everything safe (placing barriers between employees and clients, using hand sanitizer and taking temperatures upon entry, etc). As much as I enjoyed having my gel nails done w/ Ngan last time, I would suggest to not come here if you want to be seen on time even with an appointment booked in advanced. Look, I know things happen, but I'm pretty irritated at this point and will not be returning. I hate finding new nail technicians who I am satisfied with their services, but what I hate even more is when they don't respect my time. This is the second time they got the schedule wrong or gave me a wait time of 30 mins plus (last time, my friend and I waited 40 mins w/ an appt), and sorry, I'm a busy working woman and need to be seen on time or given a decent time frame. Cavalry, I have an advice for you- if for some reason you are running behind schedule, at least have the decency to reach out to your clients to either reschedule or cancel as a courtesy. It might not matter too much for people who might have flexible schedules or no preferences in technicians, but I do not have both of those. I'd also like to add that this was on a very slow day/time (a Monday at 1:30PM- the place was quiet), so I can't even imagine how it would pan out on a busy weekend. I'm surprised there aren't that many complaints about this on Yelp yet (UPDATE- NVM there are PLENTY of people who left reviews of the same experience of the time disrespect), but I'm so over it, and they need to learn how to manage their time better. MY RESPONSE TO OWNER'S COMMENT BELOW: Extending a customer's service when another customer is waiting for an appointment at a specific time is an unfair practice because you are prioritizing someone else's time at the cost of another. I'm sure some customers are more difficult than others, demanding more than what they have booked, but it is up to your business to manage the time and the satisfaction of ALL clients.Thanks for the luck, and please try to improve instead of making excuses for you running behind schedule. read more
