At the other location in VA, they're actively working a lot of the time frame you're with them- more massage, lymphatic drainage, more gentle and thorough extractions. If you don't do an add on or buy a product they genuinely treat you worse or act really annoyed- even though you're already spending over $120 on monthly service. The customer service was great, and the treatment room was beautiful and comfortable (mine was the back treatment room which had enormous windows looking out onto the garden behind the building - those fall colors and trees made my treatment extra relaxing). There are a lot of options for facials now - a range of prices, lengths of treatment, a range of privacy offered by the spa. There isn't a Glowbar by me in Baltimore, so membership isn't an option for me. But I enjoyed my experience. It's nice to have a less expensive and quick option for a facial! So after reading the reviews for Ritual and following them on social for a few months, I decided to book at appointment for a peel with Victoria. The business suite is located within a much bigger building and upon getting off the elevator on the 8th floor, it was clear to me that many of the surrounding suites include other medical professionals. Upon entry, you'll notice the clinic is pristine and elegant, while also feeling warm and welcoming. Cayla, the patient coordinator at the check-in desk was bubbly and genuine - as a first time visitor, that initial impression means a lot. No pretense, no standoffishness - just a desire to help you to get settled in. I was then taken to the waiting area which was also clean and comfortable, with a few refreshments that are available for guests. Luckily for me, I was only in there for a few minutes before Victoria came to get me. We took a few pics and then headed into the room for my appointment. The room felt very much like a room you may be in for a doctor's appointment - very sterile, bright lights - which of course is a good sign. I then chatted with Victoria about my concerns and needs. She was a great listener as well as a proactive communicator, always educating me as she made suggestions or talked with me about options. It's evident that her top concern is the patient's health and well-being first and foremost, which then guides her recommendations. With the additional knowledge and context she provides, it's impossible not to feel well taken care of, in the hands of a responsible and professional provider. I was also very appreciative of her care and awareness of what treatments would be best for my type of skin, educating me about the Fitzpatrick scale (which I had taken time to educate myself briefly about on my own, but had never had a provider articulate with such mindfulness.) She also was able to balance that professionalism with warmth - which is a rare combination to find. Her ability to make you feel comfortable seems to come naturally and really makes the whole experience not only impactful but enjoyable. It's also evident that she carries a wealth of knowledge and is confident about that (without being condescending.) Overall, very impressed with the business and grateful for Victoria's care. Will definitely be returning in the near future to explore other treatments that will be good investments in my overall skin health and integrity.

If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

The one star is for color - I've tried, watched and listened. I've tried having my hair colored by the "master colorist" and gm. It's been upsetting each time. I've watched (and listened)... women running into same "not quite what I wanted" color experience. I've also had to sit through listening to an ego boast about teaching the next generation, running the salon, etc. etc. Not how I want to spend my time nor has it resulted in a color I wanted. Application was inconsistent and clumps of color. Also ironic since I've been treated with an attitude by the "master colorist" when problem solving her choice to add color that she wanted vs. I asked for. Her energy overall is negative and her work sloppy. (Fortunately, I haven't had the over processing causing their hair to start falling out.) Who needs this experience (or results, esp at this price)? I had to find another colorist so moved on. It's a shame because I'd give a 4-5 stars for hair cuts done by different stylists (Patricia, Johnathan and Marcella). I've gone to two of them a few times and loved the cut-only appointments. I've had. The women who help with washing hair - high marks too...very nice and love the attention to the experience/massage during the wash. read more

I was at Violet Salon yesterday, a charming, professional and friendly salon, located in Georgetown. I was referred by a friend to go see her hair stylist Peggy Ioakim, who she regularly sees . My experience from beginning to end was great. I was greeted by a friendly staff at the front desk who guided me to the shampoo area since it was my first time there. Then I had the best shampoo I have ever had!! Then I was escorted to Peggy's station where she greeted me and took great concern and care in what I was looking for. My experience from consultation to completion was great! Peggy listened and offered great advice and took great care of me and made sure I got what I was asking for. My color came out exactly like I wanted it and the cut was by far the best I have ever had...to date, I have never received more complements than I did today:) She is not only a true professional with lots of experience, but I felt like she was my friend. Violet Salon is a wonderful salon right in the heart of Georgetown. My colorist, Ado, is one of the best in the city. I am a dark blonde and Ado masterfully highlights my hair for a natural lighter blonde look every few months. I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. I also highly recommend Marcella and Patricia as stylists. Marcella is meticulous with her cuts and terrific at making recommendations and listening to how you might want to change up your style. Patricia is my "go to" if Marcella is unavailable and also does a wonderful job with my medium-to-long length hair as well. The salon is on the second floor and is quite easy to find. I had Yvonne give me a haircut and she was so quick with the process. My cut was pretty simple and I just wanted several inches shorter with long curtain bangs. I had it styled at the end too! Not to mention, I was given a deep conditioning treatment. I'm not sure how much that costs but for all the services I received it came out to a decent price ($125). PS there's a store mascot here (some doggos) so just keep that into consideration if you have allergies. I'm sure if you have your dog with you this business is pet friendly.

Enders (in collaboration with Ryan) fixed my hot hot HOT mess of a "balayage" (for which I paid $$$$) basically on the fly, in a fraction of the time, at a small fraction of the cost. Jarrell at the front desk is amazing. More adjectives: cool, high-energy, positive, perfectionistic, artistic, welcoming, amazing playlist. Best salon by far in my 8 years in DC!! My only regret is not finding them sooner.

He did a phenomenal job cutting and styling my hair. He gave me long layers and some facial framing as well as cut my side bangs without cutting them too short which is tough for some stylists to do! 10/10 recommend Engin - so much so I got his name just to be able to review. In a few sentences, this is a space dedicated to making you feel good about yourself. The downstairs apothecary is filled with herbs, tinctures and crystals to help you with any ailment. You can also book appointments for Akashic readings or with a reiki master in their well appointed healing rooms. Upstairs, there's a simple and beautiful space for styling but at night you can find a variety of health and wellness classes to appeal to any age or background. I recently attended a class here with Woo Woo Company and was so excited to be able to meet like minded people in such a welcoming space. I only wish I had more time to explore the apothecary downstairs but it's probably a good thing because I could see myself dropping dollars there!

I had become disappointed with my go-to place and decided to give Ayse (pronounced Ay-sha) a call. She talked to me about what I wanted, explained what she thought the best options were given how thin and blonde my hair is, and made sure to give me very natural looking highlights. The next day, I noticed my hair was just a touch more copper than I prefer and she welcomed me back to the salon right away to put more toner in it. It took me 8 years when I lived in Miami and even when I finally found a place, I didn't love the price. Five months into living in DC and voila! my dreams have already come true! Unlike other salons I considered for my first hair venture in the District, Polin is flexible with schedules. I called on a Saturday morning to book for an upcoming weekday and Yusuf offered to fit me in that day- something that while I didn't need, I appreciated! Come appointment time, he listened to what I was envisioning and made it happen. He didn't chop off more than what I asked for as so many stylists do and my highlights haven't looked this good in years (since they were natural!). I'm always a little nervous when check out time comes but I was so relieved/amazed to find I got incredible service (partial highlights + substantial cut + tip) for under $200. I'll definitely be returning and urge you to give this place a try.

I thought I would never again find someone I could trust to do my hair justice, to make me look my best for camera and stage. I visited Tigani because they are less than a block from my apartment, not expecting anything special; I was joyfully surprised. Gloria listened to my concerns and offered valuable tweaks to the way my prior hairdresser made me look. I was sold! They are open every day of the week, their hours are extremely convenient for me and the price is right. I've found a new home for my public image maintenance.
