I'm visiting from out of town and decided to get a last minute cut. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst haircuts of my life (men's cut). The staff were friendly and the shop is very pretty, but the quality of the cut was lacking. I don't have complicated hair. I asked for a 1 on the sides and shorten it on top. I showed a picture of me from a previous cut that I liked. He started out not using clippers on the sides, but just scissors (not how you get a 1). I then corrected him and he used clippers, but looked totally uncomfortable. He said we should use a 2 (I've had a 1 on the sides for 3 years), so I nervously agreed. He kept asking if it was good and I kept explaining what parts of the cut wasn't complete and showed the picture for comparison. It didn't work. The left side of my head was completely uneven and the right side cut wasn't clean either that resulted in frizz. Very poor cut. read more

I had to go there exceptionally because my other hairdresser (and salon) was fully booked and I was only going to be in town for the weekend. I need a haircut / color before I would leave. My hairdresser was Sara, and she did an excellent job with me. She was bold and and showed great creativity. I felt very beautiful with my new cut. She also added a balayage, which was really exceptionally well made (and she prepared it with extreme attention to details). I would recommend this salon (and Sara) with no hesitation. Also, the woman who did the shampoo was truly lovely, and took great cared of me as my grandmother or mother would. Finally but not least the whole atmosphere in the salon was like a family, very friendly and welcoming, yet respectful. read more

Absolutely the most unprofessional salon I have ever been tO. We had three appointments at 4:00 I asked the woman when we arrived if they had three stylists for us she said yes then one man took my two daughters. They both asked for easy styles that any decent salon should be able to do a diffused style on short hair and a easy soft pin curl on long hair. He argued with them then did what he wanted both left miserable. Then I was taken at 4:45 for a 4:00 appointment and again they did not know how to do pin curls. The woman yelled at me and insisted she did Kelly Rippas hair and they were so busy because of graduation they couldn't take people off the street!!! WE HAD APPOINTMENTS made by my hotel from 4 weeks ago. Then they had the audacity to change me $180.00 for the three miserable styles. DO NOT GO HERE. I read the reviews of this place before going in and had high hopes, but I ended up being pretty disappointed. I went in and asked that the under layer of my brown hair be bleached out and then dyed bright pink. At first I thought it had gone just as I'd asked, when I was shown the result I loved it. But then I got home and pulled my hair into a ponytail, and found that at least an inch, in some places almost two inches of my roots hadn't been bleached. So straight away I've got months of "grow out" showing. I have no idea why my hair wasn't bleached to the root before dyeing it. When he showed me the back in a mirror he pulled some of my hair to the side and it obscured the root so I had no idea until I'd gotten home. But more than that I was just really unhappy with the general service I received. I walked in earlier that day and asked if they had an appointment time for me any time in the next three days, and was asked to come back in about an hour and a half. I did not expect that meant that I was being shoved in-between three other appointments, and I spent a great deal of time just sitting in the chair watching the stylist cut and color other people's hair. (I do realize that there is often a reason to stagger color treatments, but three at once seems excessive.) He was also quite clear to the woman who does the shampooing (because of course he didn't do it, he was busy with someone else) that she should only wash out the dye in my hair, not touch the rest of it. I'm not really sure what the thought process was there, but it made it a very uncomfortable session at the sink, holding my head at an odd angle the whole time so she could only wet down the back under layer. Normally I love the shampoo part, it's relaxing and the massage is great, and instead I got a sore neck out of it. And after all that, it was expensive to boot. $130 to dye two foils worth of hair and not even get a full shampoo. The women at the desk were very kind, and the woman who does the shampoo always made sure I had water to drink if I wanted it. But I wouldn't go back. read more

My mom and I have been going to Onder for some time now. He moved to Georgetown Salon Spa almost one year ago from the Four Seasons and we followed (we would follow him anywhere!). Onder is the best in the business for color, cut, updos and blow outs. It's rare to find a hair stylist that is fabulous at all of those things. Beyond his skill level he has a super warm personality and is always 100% focused on the clients satisfaction. He will do anything to make you happy. If you aren't 100% satisfied, tell him, he will make it right. If you're influenced by celeb hair Onder has done, you won't hear about it from this humble stylist but the list is notable. The salon itself is bright with lots of large windows and natural sunlight flooding into Georgetown Salon Spa. I haven't tried other stylists here or the spa services but the spa area looks inviting! read more

I really really wanted to like this salon. I got cut and color done three times. The problem with this salon is one stylist has so many clients at once that they pay little attention to you and your needs. I have peach fuzz on my face that got dyed red on my sideburn and cheek because the woman who washed my color out was rushing. I feel like overall its just overpriced for what you get. If you are 50 years or more then you will fit in with the clients here. But if you are young and want a modern vibe, this isn't it. read more

I had my hair cut here (can't remember the name of the stylist, unfortunately). I said I wanted a trim and she cut off around five inches! Additionally, I asked for a heat protectant spray and they sold me a $57 bottle of hair oil. I should have checked the packaging before I left, but I was ready to go and I trusted that they knew what they were doing. The two stars are for the shampooist (sweet and AMAZING scalp massage) and the hair styling itself. My hair looked beautiful when I left, so I didn't realize how much she had cut off until I was home. And let's talk price. I don't remember what I paid, but it was WAY too much (and I'm used to paying a lot for my hair). I won't be going back. read more

I have been getting Brazilian waxed for years (since at least 2012) with Karina. My very first wax ever was with her @ Aveeda and I was extremely nervous. She made me relaxed, explained everything she would be doing and made it an easy process. The result was a flawless, ZERO pain, Brazilian! I was hooked from that point on. If I could give this salon a 0, I would. As a regular customer I witnessed a significant number of ignorant and intolerant statements about and attitudes towards women, African Americans, Spanish-speakers, and Jews. They mocked a sweet older employee when she was rushed to a hospital after exposure to noxious formaldehyde fumes from a keratin treatment. They talked about customers behind their backs in another language. I tried to educate or protest where appropriate, to no avail. I drew the line when they fired one of their best employees for unlawful and unethical reasons, which they openly boasted about to me and other customers. I voted with my wallet and went to another salon. I don't want to spend my time in such environments and I certainly don't want to support such employment practices. read more

Great experience getting a gel manicure and regular pedicure at Georgetown Salon and Spa. The spa area is perfect for a girl's day - as it has only 2 pedicure and 2 manicure chairs. My friend and I had the best time in what felt like an exclusive spa we rented out, as it was just the 2 of us. Beautiful window looking out to M Street. Plus my gels have lasted over 3.5 weeks which never happens! My pedicure was also great and has lasted. It was a good value for what we received. Everyone in the salon is so nice from the front desk staff to the sweet ladies who wash your hair and bring you coffee. Turgay also will see you at 7 am which is unheard of. Today I had the best manicure and pedicure from Ellen at Georgetown Salon and Spa. It was my first time visiting, and I will definitely go back. The spa is separate from the rest of the salon. It's very peaceful and quiet, and the chairs are comfy. I was offered tea, coffee, or water while I waited. Ellen was so nice and polite. She was very careful and had great attention to detail on my shellac manicure and pedicure. My hands and feet haven't looked and felt so wonderful in months! I hate to say it but Onder ruined my hair. He may be very talented i am sure but its very disappointing that I saw all these reviews and decided to get my hair cut from him. He cut it way too short, its even shorter than it was when i had it shaved off. I waited for 3 months to have it grow out so I could have a nice hair cut. I do wish him all the best but its a pity that it has come to this..... Once he cut it short, there is no way to fix it except return your money back. I wish he had been conservative cutting it short.... Anyway he has ruined the whole experience for me and the holidays..... read more

I arrived 10 minutes late because of a race but he still greeted me with a big smile. Receptionist and staff were very helpful and courteous on the phone.
