My stylist was over 20 mins late to taking me. That was fine, but not once did someone come over to let me know she was finishing up another client. I was a first time client, so I had no idea what she looked like, so I didn't even know if she was there. She then proceeded to give me a balayage after I said I wanted a partial foil. I walked out of the appointment paying $450, and my hair looked so bad. I had STRIPES of blonde throughout. Nothing was blended. Also, my simple, blunt haircut was completely uneven. I went to another stylist and had to get a color correction and learned my hair was insanely damaged from this place. Save your time and money. I've only left two reviews in my life - at my oral surgeon for the fantastic job they did with my surgery, and now. I came in for a post COVID hair cut, it having been 8 months since my last as I was due for one in April, right when everything had shutdown. I knew my ends were bad, and needed 2 inches off. I tried to go to my Hair Cuttery (which I've been going to for 8 years) and found they shut down. Based on reviews, I decided to give Miracles a try. I went in with long curly hair, and told the stylist - Michael - that the shorter it gets cut, the more it curls and it needed to stay at shoulder length dry WITHOUT layers. I've had this hair for 28 years, I know what needs to be done to it. I left with my hair curling ABOVE my chin, with layers that make me look like I have a short, bowl cut in the front, with longer hair in the back. I have never been so dissatisfied with a haircut in my life, and I've had some bad haircuts. I have very curly, springy hair. The shorter you cut it, the tighter the ringlets get. Anyone knows you don't layer that type of hair, and I even made sure to say NO LAYERS the second I sat in the chair. I'm frustrated, and I will NEVER return to Miracles. I even waited a full week to write this review to see if my frustration and displeasure would die down as I got used to the hair, and unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. All I can do now is patiently wait for these layers, that I explicitly asked the stylist not to do, to grow shoulder length, before I can cut my hair again to a style, and length I enjoy. Luckily we're still in quarantine so I can sit in my house, with a satin cap on and cry without people having to see me, or my clown hair. Is my hair healthier now? Sure, there is no denying that the ends needed to be cut. Did it need to be cut as much as it was, and butchered with the addition of "long layers" that the stylist thought would look nice - even though I told him no? Absolutely not. Edit: It seems like I should have read the reviews more thoroughly as it seem like Michael cannot seem to follow directions that clients give. A hair stylist should give you what you ask for, and provide helpful suggestions that you as the client can take, or not take. Not proceed at their own free will. read more

It has been about 6 months since my last hair cut, and I was dragging on the length. I wanted to try a new place in the area, but didn't want to spend a ton of money without trying something first. I opted to pick up a groupon. This place offers regular women's cuts for $49 and haircuts with the owner for $175. With a groupon I could get a haircut with the owner, Olympia, for just $59. Upon arriving I was greeted immediately and took a seat. Afterwards, Olympia led me into the back where I explained to her the haircut I wanted. I received a hair washing from a nice young lady and then proceeded to the front to get my haircut. The last 3-4 haircuts I've had I haven't been happy with at other places. Either the people weren't super nice and If I asked for a touch up here and there, they always gave me such a hard time. But here, I honestly felt like this was probably the best haircut i've ever had. My hair is super long and thick and I actually like the way it looks long, but I like that light and airy feeling from lots of layers. Olympia was able to give me that and made it look super easy. Her store front has been on the same corner for 21 years and I can see why they have been successful for so long. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I would not recommend Zhen for a pixie cut. Fade was off, top did not blend well with the rest of the hair. It looks more like a bowl cut.

I've been getting my hair cut here for a year and a half now, and they are so good I'm scared to go anywhere else! When I first came in, my hair was in an awful state from cutting it myself throughout quarantine -- blunt, uneven, and I had given myself terrible bangs! Effie knew just how to fix my hair so I could grow out the bangs with minimal emotional trauma. Effie always does a great job of layering my fine curly hair to give it volume and bounce, and I always leave with a perfect glossy blowout. I've since moved away but I still commute 45 minutes on the Metro just to get my hair cut here. Scheduling with the salon is easy -- you can do it over the phone or by email. I found Miracles via Yelp for a basic maintenance haircut before my wedding. Booking an appointment was easy, and I was able to make schedule changes beforehand by just calling in with no problem. On the day of, I didn't have to wait and was able to start right away. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they blow dry straightened my hair, which is included in the price of $40 for the women's haircut. I've actually never experienced this before I usually it's an add-on. Maybe I was just unlucky with previous hair salons, but this was such a delight in that I got to leave looking great with a styled look! I told him I wanted layers and he gave me gorgeous layers that I truly couldn't be happier with. I have super long hair and it can take a while to cut but Ray did it so quickly. Normally, I would be skeptical of a fast haircut, but I would be wrong. From the day of (probably 1.5 months ago) until now, my hair has looked fantastic and grown in such a beautiful way. Do not get a haircut here. My regular stylist was booked through the new year, so I decided to give this spot a try. I told the stylist I like long, graduated layers with a few framing my face. I ended up with one huge chunk cut straight across and one other wispy long layer. It looks awful. Nothing face-framing. He also spent most of the time talking about how horrible my color (from my regular salon) looked - at one point, turning me around to show me "mistakes" in the mirror. Last week I went to get a full foil / cut before heading home for a long weekend. I had met ahead of time with Olympia to go over the color I wanted done, which made me feel confident about heading into my hair appointment. I wanted to go from a dull blonde to a brighter, warmer blonde, but the most important part was to completely cover my brownish roots. When I went in for my appointment Wednesday night, they seemed to be overbooked. Not only was the salon over crowded, but while waiting I had hair blown on me by the hairdresser in the chair beside me. I had specifically asked for Olympia, as she had good reviews on here, but ended up getting the color done by another hair dresser. That is when the nerves kicked in again. I had a bad feeling about it. The girl put a full foil in my hair in about twenty minutes. This also freaked me out because at my old salon back in Massachusetts, it took over an hour to completely foil my hair, as my hair is thick. I also noticed that not much of my hair was in foils - also another bad sign. I had a quick hair wash, and then the cut began. Olympia cut my hair, and then I left quick, as I had a ton to accomplish before heading home. Olympia is very kind, and funny as well, but that does not effect my review. When I got home I noticed that the high light was done far from my roots, and that my roots were left barely touched. My hair was definitely blonder (not what I asked for) but this just made my roots stand out more. I also noticed that parts of my hair did not get cut, and there are dead ends in places. I went back today, to see if they could fix it, and she said it would cost $90. I tried to explain to her, that I was not given what I asked for, but she said it would still cost as much to fix it. If you mess something up, its not on the customer to fix it. I now have to go to a different salon, and pay a large amount to have it done right. Definitely a huge waste of money, and time. To note, I never write reviews like this, but I am upset about my time at the salon, and now have to spend double the money to get my hair done. read more

Let me preface this by saying, thankfully I did receive a full refund. I came in last week and asked Lona for blonde balayage with a bright "money piece" in front. I had a picture of what I wanted. After my initial appointment, my hair was silver/grey and purple all over. I called the salon the next day to see what I should do for hiring the toner was left on for way too long. Lona had me come in. I asked if she would remove the silver color. Instead, she added more toner. It made my hair much, much darker and left a tint of blue/green. Lona commented on the color and asked if I'd been swimming in chlorine, but it had only turned green while I was there that day getting the toner. She tried a few more things to get the green out and from what I could see, I thought it was out. It wasn't. I called the salon a third time (third times a charm) and asked for either another person to try to fix it or a refund. They asked me to come in and another stylist gave my hair a bleach bath and stripped the hair of all toner which I thought may work. Though it took out the green, it left my hair a yellow/red color. Now, my bangs don't match the rest of my hair. After years of maintaining my blonde (blondes know it's a process) it's incredibly dry, brittle, and warm colored. Blondes know how much time and money is spent on being blonde so I'm incredibly frustrated. The pictures attached are the different colors my hair went through in one week. The last picture is my hair just this last December. I had A LOT of the icy blonde still in my hair when I went in for my appointment. The second to last picture is what I asked for. I went to a salon in Georgetown today and they said this will take several appointments to fix. They even said I may be better off cutting my hair short because the amount of stuff put on my hair during the last week really damaged it. read more

I could not be happier with my hair! I got my haircut by Olympia, the salon owner, using a Groupon ($39 for a cut and style with Olympia). I waited for a 20% off Groupon deal and purchased the Groupon voucher for $32. I arrived 5 minutes late for my appointment due to transportation issues, but Olympia was happy to take me anyway. She assessed my hair and asked me about what I wanted to do. She clarified what I said and showed me exactly what she was planning to do and how much she was going to cut. I got my hair washed, cut, and styled under an hour. Olympia was focused and quick, and I appreciated that she didn't try to do much small talk. She was very transparent about what she was going to do and gave several opportunities for me to ask for adjustments. The salon itself is nothing super fancy, but you get a great haircut and style for a very reasonable price (if you use the Groupon). According to the website, Olympia is normally $175 for a cut and style. Although I absolutely love my haircut and experience, I'm afraid I won't be coming back at that full price. read more

I've come back twice now to get my hair highlighted and cut, and honestly, I would consider not moving to stay with this salon. This family business is so wonderful and kind, and the two people that has worked with my hair--Olympia and Nikos--seriously works magic. Every time I come in for color, the first question is always "what do you want your hair to look like?", but I fully trust them to give me the best advice based on my skin tone, face shape, etc. Nikos does an amazing baylayage, and the whole process takes anywhere from 1.5 -2 hours, depending on your hair. The color has lasted well into two months, and I would recommend the gloss treatment if you want minimum interference with your color. I have received a TON of compliments. I would also note that if you want to do color, it might be useful to come in a couple (10 minutes) early. I've definitely come in a little late and this salon has been entirely forgiving, but I understand it's a busy salon and I'm not their only client--and with this level of service, I am just grateful that they're willing to squeeze me in! read more

They did only a few highlights and they were super yellow, making my hair look like a bee. I had to come back for a retouch because of the yellowness and even though it got better, you can still see a lot of yellow parts. I paid almost $300 for a service that was not good at all and they didn't comply the idea I wanted for my hair. read more

My stylist was Lona and she was very sweet and talked through what I wanted. I have wavy, somewhat thick hair that was a little longer than my shoulder blade area. I wanted something totally different and had it chopped above my shoulders. I have to say, I was a little worried during the cut but after all was dried and styled, it truly looked exactly like the picture I showed her!
