Whenever she needed me to move my head, she's very respectful and apologizes and tells me before she made any contact. Overall, took an hour from start to finish. I have to say I have super long thick hair and I get compliments on my hair quite a bit, however still needed some layers to help with the lightness. I get my haircut once every 10 months on average and take care of my hair with a routine. Total came out to $120, I tipped and it was $130. First time customer! I found this salon because I've been going to the waxing studio that's attached. I desperately needed color correction before attending Electric Forest and after reading reviews I was able to book a next day appointment with Ana. Street meter parking was very available. I came here on a whim. I needed my hair done and this place was close, plus it had stellar reviews. I LOVE this place. It's cute and cozy and the people are incredibly nice. They offered me water, tea or a Turkish coffee. I was gonna go for tea, but I love Turkish coffee so I picked that. It came out in this cute little teacup and saucer. It was yummy too. BG did my hair and she did an awesome job. I usually ask people to frame my face, but they have no idea what I'm talking about so I've stopped asking. I got a groupon for a haircut and balayage coloring and scheduled an appointment for a Saturday morning. I was the first one there and was greeted warmly and quickly and BG sat me down to start looking at my hair and asking what I wanted. Honestly, I'm glad she steered me in a different direction from what I originally wanted as far as color. She was honest with her opinion without being insulting. She was upfront with the extra cost (I ended up paying $100 more that the groupon for the toner and blow dry options... which honestly considering how much hair I have and what I was asking, really wasn't too bad. Just something to be aware of) and I agreed and she got to work! BG is a really nice person and did a beautiful job. Honestly one of the best haircuts and coloring jobs I've received since moving up to the DMV area in 2017. And I have really thick, difficult to cut hair. I recently moved to the city and this salon is near my home. I'm always looking for deals and was going to buy a Groupon for FULL BALAYAGE and hair cut for $92. I called and set an apt. The person who picked up the phone asked if I got the Groupon and if I didn't, the salon would charge me the price as Groupon. Well I came for the consultation and she charge me $240 for the service Bc I had long and dry hair. Don't buy the Groupon Bc they most likely won't honor it and will upcharge. The service was great but if you're going here thinking you're going to get a deal then this isn't the place. My hairstylist asked me what I did with my hair. I haven't done anything to my hair. I was so excited to come here based on the amazing reviews but I ended my visit here crying, out $240 and canceling my plans on a Friday night. I'm really sad with the way my hair came out, I came in for a balayage and a cut. Zainab didn't take ask me what I wanted before diving in so I stopped her and told her there were two things that I really wanted. I wanted to make sure my hair stayed away from orange tones and I asked for face framing layers. We go through the coloring process and when we get to the sink, she starts taking the foils out and doesn't say anything, I asked her how it looked and she said "it didn't lighten, just orange" so she frantically starts reapplying bleach to my hair as I'm sitting in the sink chair. We wash that out, then she comes back with a book of hair swatches and tells me which shade she's going to shoot for. I told her that shade is darker than my current hair color and she said "no it's the same" so I asked her "..why would we shoot for the exact same color I came in with?" She agreed and said we can go one lighter but she has no idea how it'll turn out. To make a very long story a long story, I was really sad to see how the color came out, orange patches scattered throughout my hair. The face framing layers were non existent and by that time I was tearing up in the seat, I didn't even address my feelings towards the cut (so that's on me!). I've had balayages done twice in the past with perfect results yet she continued to insist it's my hair's fault for reacting the way it did. I understand chemistry and I understand that it can take time to lighten dark hair, you may not always be able to get there at once. What I don't understand is how I've had the same service twice at a different salon with perfect results yet this time it didn't turn out, purely because of the composition of my hair and not my stylists lack of ability. At this point I have tears streaming down my face because I'm really really sad, not mad or angry in the least but just feeling vulnerable and sad. I asked if I could come back and if she could just fix the orange parts and she continued to get more passionate that she has done everything she can and it's my hairs fault. I didn't go back to my old salon since it's in Atlanta but I'm really regretting it now, I've never been so sad after a salon experience. read more

I got a cut and blow dry at this salon, and Zeynep was my hairstylist. Let me start by saying that she was very friendly and talented, no doubt that she has the skills to make a great hairstylist. My haircut was not at all horrible. However.. I don't think she made an attempt to listen to what I wanted. I don't think I had a chance to speak to her what kind of haircut I wanted to achieve. As soon as I sat down on the chair, she inspected my hair and suggested a cut that would work best for me. I took her suggestion, but I wanted her to take more than 1.5 inch. I was wanting a more shoulder length haircut. After she washed my hair, I have told her that she can take off more than 1.5, maybe around (2-2.5 inch), but she insisted that she cuts 1.5 first to "fix"my uneven hair. Okay no problem. I wanted to show her an inspirational picture, and she had asked me to put down my phone for now. Understandable as well. Sadly, It took her a little bit more than an hour to "fix" my hair and it seemed that she had another customer came in and rushed my hair the last 20-30 mins. I had somewhere to be and unfortunately at this point couldn't really go through another hour or so to cut extra length of my hair. I just wanted her to went ahead and cut the length that I wanted from the beginning. My haircut wasn't bad, just not what I envisioned. I had paid $100 (incl. tip). Probably the highest quality salon experience I've ever had at such a reasonable price. I walked in the salon 20 mins late and with a confusing assortment of photo examples to show BG what I wanted. She was warm, attentive, and decisive during the consultation and was straight up with me about what actually would work for my hair type. I really appreciated that she wasn't afraid to respectfully share her opinion. She also was very honest about how much the service would cost--which was honestly much less than I've spent at other salons. She was incredibly hospitable, offering Turkish coffee, water, and other items throughout the process. She let me know what she was doing during each step and how long it would take.
