I am so happy to say I found my new Stylest and starting my back to natural hair journey. I searched for a deva cut in my area and Octavia's salon came up. It was easy to schedule as I called and she texted me the link to book online. You can also book via Yelp. Her prices are reasonable. She also has good reviews am adding one more! She actually answered my questions and was free a little early but I kept my appointment. Her salon is located in a salons area and it is a small well lighten unit. She was available and heard my concerned about keeping my hair length and making it easy to style natural. She did a wet cut as she informed me she needed to see my hair. She was Virgil and cut a little. Surprisingly my hair was still long and she added some good fancy products a I know that bran at Sephora. Finally she let my hair dry under the dryer. I let it air dry for the rest of the time and it got some fluffiness so I added more product of mine. Over all I would recommend this salon. I would go again. My first time at Salon Lofts and Octavia was the stylist I chose. She is super friendly and sweet. Tell her what kind of hair cut you want and she will do exactly that. I am finally happy with a hair stylist which I know I'll come back to and also refer my friends to. She is reasonably priced. I got a women's cut only and not blow dry and style. I think that was a mistake I made...should've just paid extra and gotten the blow dry as well since I had tiny hairs all over my face, neck and body. I'm sure the blow dry would've really helped get rid of all of that instead of carrying it all the way home and making a mess. Overall a good experience! read more

Octavia is a superb stylist and I am so happy to find finally someone as talented as her. I was going to a stylist for a few years, and when the salon closed, I decided to find a new one closer to home. I received a recommendation from a friend and am so incredibly happy I switched. For the first time in a long time, she explained what she could do to my hair differently and suggested new options after I told her I was open to change. She did an excellent job of listening to what I want, making suggestions, and ultimately giving me an excellent cut and highlights. She gave me a lob - long bob - and I am thrilled with it. I have very fine, and thin, hair. It grows slowly, and when I do finally grow it out, it lays very flat on my head. Forget curling it, it won't hold a curl. I wanted to try something different. I went to Octavia thinking that I would get microbes, but after a consultation she convinced me that tape-in would be a better fit for my fine hair. She was ready and willing to talk through any concerns that I had, and after the consultation and before I went in for my appointment, Octavia did some more research and found that single-sided tape-in extensions are now available, which are both lighter (and thus cause less strain to my fragile hair) and less expensive than typical double-sided tape-ins. She was also really careful about choosing color, and found the perfect match for my hair on the first try. I really appreciate her care and research, because in my experience so few hairstylists are really knowledgeable about my hair type. The application took maybe 2 hours, including cutting & styling, and it looked REALLY great (I've included pics was proof!). Over the past several weeks, I've really enjoyed the styling options now available to me with the extensions, and I've gotten a lot of compliments! Personally, for most of my life I never imagined that I'd try extensions, so when they were first installed I was uncomfortable about having hugely different hair, and was nervous about fielding questions from people I knew about my hair. Octavia was very sensitive to this concern and helped me achieve a length that was very close to my original length, which made me personally feel a lot more comfortable. Some people will want to go for length; I really just wanted some more volume. Great service! Very convenient location also. Came in for a women's wash cut and blow dry and left very satisfied. We talked about exactly what I wanted and Octavia pulled up some pictures to help me narrow down the different options for layers, angles, and length. I have been to many hair stylists in my lifetime. I've gotten highlights for over ten years, but when I moved to Arlington it's been hard to find someone who can do good blonde highlights. It's also an expensive journey in the DC/Arlington area for having people mess it up! My sister was getting married so I knew I couldn't afford to have my hair botched... BUT, to my own fault I also waited til the last minute to book an appointment. After extensive research, I found #hairtherapy on yelp and she had awesome reviews so I made an appointment with Octavia. I got the reminder email- and I realized I scheduled for the wrong week. She was booked out for two weeks! I was so sad, but then she messaged me reassuring me that she can find some time. It was AMAZING! I never met someone so accommodating. She worked way harder than she needed to by putting in extra hours and squeezing me in between a balayage apt. This was over two months ago, by the way- and my hair still isn't grown out. One of the best highlights I've ever gotten, but on top of that- one of the best customer service experience out there. She cares way more about quality than anything else, which I REALLY appreciate and it's hard to come by! read more

Had my first (but definitely not last) appointment today with Octavia. I got a keratin treatment and she even threw in a little trim to even out my ends. I can't recommend her enough. I went in for a consultation about a month ago to see if she could help me fix a botched haircut I had gotten from another salon. She convinced me not to cut more hair off and to wait a few months for it to grow out and advised me on ways to style to mask the unevenness until then. It's rare for a stylist to tell a client NOT to book a service and I really respected that- it shows her first goal is to tell clients what her professional opinion is, not make as much money as possible. I went back on my own later to get a keratin treatment done with her and I am loving my results. My hair is super shiny and silky and looks soooo healthy! She asked my about what my goals were with the keratin and adjusted the treatment to give me the results I was looking for. Octavia is super knowledgeable about hair and put up with me asking a million questions during the appointment. She is kind and so easy to talk to that it felt like I was hanging out with a friend who also happened to be doing my hair. I had my first visit with Octavia last week. I switched from a stylist I was with for about a decade who recently moved out of the area, so this was a big deal! I only go to the salon 2-3 times a year, for highlights (I was a platinum blonde as a child, and somehow I can't give up the blonde part of the personality) and a cut. This time around I also wanted to get my hair cut much shorter than I usually do--a pixie cut. Octavia's ability to blend colors is amazing--my highlights haven't looked this great in a long time. Octavia is wonderful at her craft and is an artist when it comes to color. In terms of my cut, I love it. But what was most remarkable was that initially it wasn't quite right--although I didn't realize this until I got home.
