I had the pleasure of Krishna being my eyebrow technician. She's located at the Eastern market location and I believe she also spends time in Alexandria. Upon my arrival I was greeted warmly. I booked an appointment for eyebrow wax, but she asked me if I was willing to try threading. I've tried threading before so it was open to doing it again. She explained One of the benefits of threading is that if there's any chemicals on your face there won't be any reaction and there won't be any skin removed. I also expressed to her my desire to grow my brows out. She told me about a product that they sold and offered me the opportunity to buy it. I did buy a bottle it was $17 and some change. Came in for an eyebrow threading service. It had been a while so I was expecting pain and the person threading told me it might be painful as well. To my surprise, it was so gentle and meticulous. I also loved the rose water towelette after the threading, it was helpful for my skin and felt like a fancy spa! It was a great service and I'll be looking forward to my next one! don't be fooled by the ambiance of this place!! turn around and leave!! i came to have my eyebrows serviced and left with a very severe break-out/allergic reaction!! this happened after the attendant offered me hand sanitizer prior, i accepted it, and asked if she was going to use any herself. she continued without answering me. i was trying this place for the first and now the last time. i called and spoke with the owner the next day to try to resolve things, i had to demand an apology because the first thing she did was recommend i use cortizone cream. i said i was willing to let it go and not take the issue to the internet in exchange for eyebrow threading service(s) (more than 1 (2) to be exact) to make up for the incident. i was very clear telling the owner, krishna of my wishes and what i felt would make it right , although i could tell she was only going to give me one service @ no charge by her voice and that was not the resolve i was asking for. she even said she would only give me service when i called the next day, and that was not what we agreed to, i instead asked for the refund(17.25) and the service. she said it was too late to refund the money, i informed her as an owner of a business she should have that amout in cash. she then said she would not offer me any services at all just the refund. i think this salon lacks proffesionalism, custmor service and cleanileness. go hairy or don't go here!!! threading is how i maintain my eyebrows, this has never happened in all my experiences!! read more

Short summary: had a huge breakout after a chin/lip wax. It was my first time here and I wanted to love it. It's way closer to me than my usual place. The space is nice and clean. The service seemed great. But something must have been done wrong. I've never had any acne whatsoever after facial waxing. My skin is typically entirely clear on my chin. After 2 failed eyebrow threading experiences, I discovered Brow Contour. After combing through the reviews, I requested an appointment through Yelp and was impressed how quickly they responded and accommodated my schedule. Upon arriving, they used a sanitation spray to lightly spray me down and I was impressed with their safety & health protocols. Krishna happily greeted me and asked me questions about how I wanted my shape and how thin I wanted them. I'm VERY specific about my eyebrows and she made sure to check-in with me throughout the process and had me look in the mirror to make sure I was happy. These ladies did a wonderful job cleaning up my eyebrows and giving me a brow tint! I had let my brows grow out over COVID and figured I'd shape them up as I try to reintegrate myself into the modern world. Loved the brow tint experience and the threading was quick! Sometimes threading places will go too thin and make your brows look crazy, so I was relieved to see my brows looking shapely and fierce! They also have a loyalty card so you can get a threading free after a certain number of threading sessions. read more

I couldn't take it anymore. I had to come back and get waxed. There are some things I've grown accustomed to doing on my own during these COVID times (hair, nails, feet) but waxing/sugaring isn't one of them. I've been coming here since they've opened and have always had a great experience, however, I am now very impressed with the changes they've put in place to keep everyone safe and healthy during this new normal. As soon as you walk in, you are stopped at the door and your temperature is taken by a touch-free thermometer. You are then instructed to sanitize using a hands-free hand sanitizer and then you are sprayed down and disinfected by a machine before you can proceed through the salon. I was very impressed and wish all places would have those body disinfectant machines. I typically get a sugar Brazilian but sometimes get an underarm wax as well. I've always found both experiences to be painful, no matter where I go and how long I've been getting it done, however I find it to be much more bearable here. Krishna is very fast and efficient so she doesn't need to draw out the process any longer than it needs to be and go over spots several times. She's also able to gather more hair at once, thus making it go by quicker. The sugar here is also thicker than at other places so it does a better job at grabbing more hair. The salon itself is clean and cute and I've never had an issue getting a same-day appointment. read more

They have you sanitize your hands first thing on arrival, using a station with a foot pump so you don't have to touch anything. Then they take your temperature, and use a body sanitizer, which is a handheld machine that mists sanitizer on your body. I'll be returning for sure! read more

After making my appointment via Google, I arrived early and was greeted kindly by Sam. She & I BOTH had masks on. Not only did she give me hand sanitizer for my hands, take my temperature, but she also had me stand in front of Air Sanitizer machine & spin around. This shows how their cleanliness goes above & beyond. This salon is beautifully decorated & clean. I was the only person in the entire salon during my services. From the same people that brought you Silky Smooth, here comes Brow Contour. It's small but cute and I prefer the Capitol Hill location. I was originally scheduled with Krishna (my fave from Dupont), but she was out, so I ended up with Silky. Silky is amazing too! I had the most thorough Brazilian sugaring (and some threading) and it was mostly painless. It was also really quick. Plus, Silky is great at conversation, so you don't notice any minimal pain. I've been sugaring for a long time and have never found anyone better than Krishna and Silky. I highly, highly recommend for all your hair removal needs. read more

I had to keep calling the owner because she rushed my leg and Brazilian wax plus didn't want to finish my underarms wax ! when I told him I was dissatisfied with my underarms and legs ! he refused to refund me or could've at least discounted me for the inconvenience! gave me a bogus excuse I need to send pictures to email first! what's the point of doing that when I won't return back ! Well this was the BEST experience I've had and even during the pandemic...which is saying something. From the start, all precautions were taken to ensure sanitization. Touchless sanitizer, spinning in front of a sanitization mist, temperature checks, one one customer at a time, the works. I got my brows threaded and she did an INCREDIBLE job. Did not go too fast, mapped brows to my face, considered what would look best on my face and told me what hair she was leaving on in order to let it grow. I had a great experience getting my brows done here. Other reviewers have already mentioned the safety precautions--touchless hand sanitizer, temperature check, spinning in front of the air sanitizer, masks on, only one customer at a time--and all of those made me feel more comfortable about having my eyebrows done during a pandemic. I wasn't sure if I wanted to have my brows waxed or threaded (it's the same price for either), but I ended up deciding to have them threaded. The last two places I've had my brows threaded have been less than satisfactory, but I am so pleased with how my brows look after visiting Brow Contour. They look full and natural and cleaned up, which is just what I wanted. The decor and design are welcoming, clean, and pretty, and the customer service is top-notch. One of the best places I've ever gotten my brows waxed! I went here several times over the summer and it was always quick, painless, and affordable. The waxers are sure to go in after waxing with thread or tweezers to make sure you look perfect. I especially liked how the waxers don't apply an oil after waxing, but a rose water towelette. I almost don't want to review this place because then more people might come. This small woman-owned business is filled with the kindest ladies. And I can basically always get an appointment within half an hour of my ideal time (and usually just walk in!). It's definitely a small operations - they only have a couple rooms for waxing and a few chairs for threading (and a cute little waiting nook). But they truly do a nice job, especially with new people like myself who can be a little nervous about the whole process. They offer both sugaring and waxing, and they charge significantly less than the megachains around town. And they're open convenient hours, so there's basically no reason to not check this place out! read more
