Five stars for Mikaela for doing what she needed to do. I have had my locs for a year and a half now, and they are definitely still baby locks. I also have very curly hair, so my hair slips, slides, and unravel all the time. My girl really helped take care of my hair. She took her time, provided an excellent wash, and even provided different tips and tricks to help me understand how best to take care of my hair. She was awesome, and this is the best my Hair has felt in quite some time. For context, I came to see her after not having proper maintenance for a while and taking an ocean field trip to Mexico. I got a massage for the first time here after overlooking massage services for such a long time! While that wasn't intentional, I typically would just go to a hotel spa whenever I needed a massage. So when I was hoping to book a last minute massage during a holiday weekend, I lucked out when I found a slot for a 90 minute massage with Taneeshia. She was friendly, warm, thorough and professional, and for the first time in my life I heard the back of my upper neck make sounds I was unaware that it could make. I actually had to ask her while she was massaging my neck if that was my neck making those sounds, because never had I ever. Turns out, she was just giving it some extra TLC which is often overlooked, but it ended up being very much needed! The room was dimly lit and the bed was very comfortable, so I was truly able to relax and my body felt at such ease after my massage with her. I booked this salon with excitement as a recent graduate looking for a regular place to go, as I dye my hair every 4-6 weeks. I was really hoping to find a salon I could return to consistently. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. I was about 15 minutes late for my appointment and called ahead to let them know. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk immediately told me that because I was late I could not receive my service, not even a simple trim, and that I would still be charged $100. When I asked why, she explained that the stylist had blocked out two hours for my appointment. That made the situation even more confusing to me, since there was still well over an hour remaining in the appointment window. Rather than trying to find a solution or show any flexibility, she spoke to me in a very unkind and dismissive tone and even clapped at me while speaking. I left the salon in tears and felt extremely disrespected. What could have been a simple conversation or compromise instead turned into a very upsetting interaction. Raven deserves the world. I had a vague vision of how I wanted my hair to look and it came out even BETTER than I hoped. This was the first time I felt fully satisfied with a haircut and the dye! Raven was so so kind and constantly made sure I was doing okay. Since it was my first time going to this salon I didn't know how to book an appointment for what I wanted. I had a very poor experience with Aura Spa Navy Yard. Booked a chemical peel that ended with an underwhelming facial. I emailed every manager about eight times including the manager of managers for Aura DC and no one responded to resolve the poor experience. I feel ripped off. The issue began from the time I booked my appointment online to the end of my experience at Aura. To summarize the issues experienced, --Aura's online service booking leaves room for customers to book appointments erroneously. --The phone staff didn't follow through with getting back to me for inquiries I had. --The on-site check in staff service was shockingly lacking in thorough customer service. --Aura's process for assuring customers to make the best decision for certain spa services could use immediate improvement. The entire experience was unorganized and disappointing. It reflected so poorly that I left feeling ripped off and not wanting to go to Aura again for services. I arrived to a poor ping pong like check in experience, especially for a spa. A woman at the desk in the direct line of vision of the entry doors directed me to check in at the Bang desk for my Aura appointment. The woman at the Bang desk in a rushed manner with no welcome, no smile, told me to go to Aura, while pointing in the direction as she's in motion doing other tasks it appeared. She didn't ask if it was my first time or assure I knew where I was going. I entered Aura Spa and there was no one there (because I was an hour early perhaps). Me assuming someone was in Aura, I assumed this is who I would explain to that I was early for my appointment and ask to be directed to the sauna. I go back to the desk right outside of Aura to explain no one is in Aura and to simply ask where the sauna is. Before I could explain why I was there, the woman at that desk directs me to check in at Bang. I began to explain I was directed to Aura when the woman walks off toward Bang before I finished talking, She was pointing over to me asking the woman at Bang to check me in I assume. She comes back over to me and I explain that I wanted to use the sauna before my appointment but she didn't let me finish talking to explain that. She then says you are welcome to use the sauna. I asked where is the sauna and she then explains the women's locker room is on the 2nd floor. I really hate to say that I don't feel the check in staff handles check in in the gentle, thorough, or professional manner that I would expect from a spa. Now for my service, the person was very very nice. Prior to service, she began by explaining to me how to care for my skin after the peel. She explained I should completely avoid direct sun on my face, use a sunbrella, hat, where screen, etc. I was getting this peel to renew my skin for a milestone trip event to an island so this knowledge was a red flag for me. My skin would have completed the peel process before the trip but it sounded like I should still avoid direct sun on my face during my trip. This was very concerning so she explained that we could adjust the service to a facial only and I'd get glowing results, although shorter term results. She offered to reschedule the peel but I agreed to the facial with She because my schedule before the trip wouldn't allow me to get something done to my face before my trip. I stated to her that I wish someone would have explained this prior to my appointment or this should be explained online with a chemical peel service. Aura or the esthetician should at minimum follow up with customers with an email or text message who book a chemical peel online to share this important information. About the facial, again she was very very nice and great to talk to but the facial service was different than what I expected in an unsatisfactory way especially for the price point and establishment. There was no manual blackhead extraction which I assumed was standard facial procedure. I left with the blackheads a the few tiny whiteheads on my skin that are usually removed with the facial I'm used to getting. read more

I ordered a men's simple clean up with Jessica, however she proceeded to give me a more expensive procedure I told her I did not want and refused to accept that I did not want this, telling me that the simple clean up does not affect the sides and only does the ear line, which is not at all how it is stated on the website as attached to this. I have been here before and never had an issue with this type of haircut, only Jessica has made this into an unpleasant experience and seemed to try to trick me and into paying more for the cut than I wanted to. read more

I've been here multiple times and the stylists are always running behind (which would be fine if I were notified as I live close by so I can just hold off on heading over). I've gotten a balayage, 2 haircuts, and a blowout and all have been very unsatisfactory particularly my most recent haircut. Andrew went in from my scalp to the bottom with thinning sheers after asking me if it's ok "to take some weight off the bottom" here I am 2 months later and my hair still just not feel the same. It doesn't style the same as it used to and I get upset about the quality of my hair daily now.
