I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 1 because of a service I just recently received that I now have to seek medical attention for. On 8/1 I received an eyebrow wax and was happy afterwards only to discover on 8/3 that I had a rash around the eyes and the eyelids. BOTH OF MY EYES!!! I was also burnt that left a scar that I can actually deal with but the rash not too much. I immediately notified the owner, she apologized, she shared with me that this happened to another customer earlier in the day, and to put Neosporin on it. She also shared with me that she saw the bumps starting to appear but failed to tell me until I brought it to her attention 2 days later. Luckily I had both Neosporin and Benadryl handy and started to apply the cream. Now on 8/5 and 8/6 I have woken up to swollen eyes!!! I called her again and asked if she using something new, what did she do different, etc. Of course there is a culture and language barrier that is difficult beyond words; however I am explaining to Christine what she did that day at time of service. She began to draw my eyebrow with a pencil, and then proceeded to wax and tweeze the brow. When she was done, I looked at the good job she did, paid and left. Only to discover this horrific rash and swelling on my face. I called on 8/6 to notify her once again of my concerns and she further explains that it has happened to her as well when she waxes her brows. Clearly this wax is bad, contaminated, or the like and this is a huge problem. The reason that I am going above and beyond is to avoid this happening to anyone else. My face is irritated and I cannot scratch it at all! I am highly upset, frustrated, annoyed, and now inconvenience for seeking attention to correct her negligence. What is sad is that I have been going to this place for 8+ years when she began in the building above her. I actually stopped getting my nails done here because after 3 days my nails are chipped and broken. I pass by too many nail salons that are much cheaper and efficient to have this done to me. So I continued to get my brows done here since I was always satisfied with that service. Christine will never have to worry about me coming back here ever again. The power of the internet and crowd sourcing will play a part when people begin to read many outlets of this unfortunate moment. After visiting urgent care I learned that this reaction is a STAPH INFECTION!! Now I'm on antibiotics until it clears. I wish her and her business the best but she will never receive a penny of my money again! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Everything they say is true! One of the worst nails experiences I've had. There are only three employees and about a 30 minute wait before you're even seen. my nails were filed crookedly and uneven and the thickness of the nails are not proportional. I had to file my own nails when I got home just to make them look decent. Moreover, they do not place the nails at the end of the nail bed so it already looks old. Well Family and Friends, Thea and I did it again. Picked up our favorite Croissants from our favorite Bakery and now we are living our best lives sitting in these incredible massage chairs and letting these highly skilled professionals do their thing sipping on decaf coffee and green tea. Popped in for a desperately needed underarm wax. Was pleased with the $12 price point. Had a five-minute wait at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon, which wasn't too bad. My esthetician was super thorough, checking for any missed hairs and tweezing any that were missed. I left happy and would return for a wax. However, I don't intend to return for nails. This place is small and crowded with pedicure and manicure stations. And it's popular, so it's crowded with customers too. And some non-customers. Ladies leave your man at home, the salon is full of patrons and they have no room. It was a bit crazy when I walked in and I almost walked right back out. I'm glad I didn't, but everything was too close for comfort if I was going to get a mani/pedi. They do have great color options if you do opt for nail services here. read more

I'd avoid unless in a real pinch. My normal place around the corner was fully booked for the day, so I walked over to the Nails Spa instead. Let's just say there's a reason why the shop around the corner was packed to the gills with customers and the Nails Spa wasn't. The manicure and pedi I received were sub par and expensive. Nails filed crookedly, errant gel and polish on the skin of my hands and feet, just really sloppy work. Pedicure was the slackest I've ever received in my life -- no exaggeration. It was rushed for no reason, literally 60 seconds of lackluster pumice scrubbing and my feet and heels are just as rough as they were before I visited and paid NINTEY DOLLARS for the services. Also, the place looks like it could use a good scrub down and a coat of paint. It's kind of scruffy in there and so was the quality of work I got that day. read more

Recently went here because my normal place had a long wait. I used to come here regularly years ago, but stopped after they moved into new space. Went in for a regular pedicure on Friday. After a half hour went, received an extremely rough pedicure. Technician cut cuticles too low which resulted in bleeding, and then scrubbed my feet so hard I have scratches all over days later. I went to this place on Saturday evening and got a gel manicure.... it's Tuesday morning and my nail has already chipped! If I were in DC, I would go back, but I'm in NY for the holidays. This is a really good nail salon. It isn't the most beautiful, but it appears to be very clean. It is located in Barracks Row at the top of the stairs, next to Starbucks (and Popeyes). I arrived around 8:00pm on a Friday and it surprisingly wasn't busy. The first thing I noticed were the pedicure chairs; the chair itself is pretty much a regular leather massage chair, but it attaches to e beautiful crystal foot bath (not the regular ugly, plastic white foot baths), the crystal even lights up. At soon as I sat down, I was given a little snack and a beverage, I opted for champagne of course. The pedicure lasted about 45 mins and was pretty relaxing, the three glasses of champagne definitely helped (and I didn't even have to ask for a refill). Pedicures were also moderately priced at $29. The only suggestion that I have for them is to get a better inventory of polishes. I was pleased overall with my pedicure and will definitely be back. read more

She is amazing. She is a true artist with nail maintenance. She took her time and made sure everything was just the way I wanted. They offer water, tea, wine etc. also little containers of this Asian trail mix ( tasty). I am very picky as I used to commute back to my home town of Baltimore to go to my nail place but this is right by where I work and in very happy with them. Great massage chairs too. He gave me a ridiculous price after I've been charged a much less price in the past. I was honestly so taken aback. The manager literally was screaming "I don't care" repeatedly when I told her this. I had to literally ask her to stop screaming at me because I can hear her just fine. This may be a leap, but they may be overcharging because of the coronavirus (quarantine, xenophobia keeping their customers away). I don't care what the reason is, it was just so frustrating and the fact that they were annoyed by me demanding a fair price was the nail in the coffin for me. I love this place. First let me say that I LOVE CHRISTINE. She has done my nails immaculately numerous times. There's a wide variety of polishes including gel polish. At this salon they also offer refreshments which is perfect (water, soda, mimosas!)-makes you feel at ease. I only attend this salon to get my Brazilian waxes. I prefer Christine to do it but there's two other people there that I left do it as well (sorry, I don't know their names). But Christine has never let me down or disappointed me- so I try to stick with what I know. There are a lot of colors to choose from and they offer beverages of choice. Several pedicure options - I did a spa pedicure and had exfoliation, shea butter, etc. Very nice! The space is small...like, super small! If you can go at an "off-peak" time, I would recommend doing so. I went to this salon last Wednesday. They were so busy and I waited 30 minutes before I was seen. Then I felt rushed and my thumb nails chipped that night. I called and due to my busy schedule I couldn't come in until the following Tuesday (today). They not only fixed my thumbs but my gave all of my nails a fresh up. They look like I just got them done for the first time. I get it - people mess up and things happen. It's always been my motto it's how you recover from these mishaps. I love the Nails Spa. I come in from Arlington to see them for eyelash extensions and have also gotten a manicure. While sometimes, despite making an appointment, they run behind - they are always kind and attentive. They do an excellent job of making you feel welcome and their eyelash extensions are top notch work at a bargain price. They provide beverages upon arriving but on one occasion when the wait took longer than anticipated they also offered me food which I found very considerate. Their technicians are skilled and kind and always make sure I'm satisfied when I'm there. It is definitely worth clearing a full afternoon of my schedule to spend time there getting my lashes and nails done and to make the trek in. The nails below were less than 24 hours old. I do not recommend! The 15 year old working in this shop (illegally) with no license did my nails horribly so I gave them an opportunity the next day to resolve the issue. Originally I was cool with them just fixing the problem until the child's mother came to defend this horrible work. She told me in the middle of my appointment her age and I was in disbelief (before you ask why I let her do my nails). She had also poured me a glass of wine so I definitely did not assume she was underage. Her mom came over with the audacity to have an attitude and attempt to charge me for a new design. Girl bye. Yo child did arts and crafts on my nails and you see the issue, resolve it, let's keep it moving. But no, you want to argue with me and blame me for the situation. She was today years old when she realized she had the wrong one. The argument got so bad I thought it was gonna get physical but mom was all talk. She apologized to her customers and even got them involved as if I care about their opinion. I sat in the chair from 2:30-5:45 and the photos below is what I got, so yes I left. I was happy to leave because I was tired as heck. However, her mom did not want to take responsibility and tried to chastise me instead of holding her child accountable. Better yet herself! I refused to pay for any extra design or be treated like I was on their time so then I asked for my money back! lol yeah it took 45 minutes of going back and forth to get my money back and frankly I want my tip back as well (since her daughter was disrespectful and don't know how to stay in child's place). Periodt! Once I got my money back the manager decided to take a photo of me while I wasn't looking and the mother daughter duo decided to chime in when I asked this lady to delete my photo from her phone. So I called the police but she had already sent my photo to someone as if I was wrong. However I reported them to BBB and I highly recommend that y'all do not visit. She was gentle, thorough and paid great attention to detail. I forget her name but I will definitely go back to her. Christine did my full set. We had a misunderstanding at the end but we were able to resolve the issue and laugh about it. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good service. I was a regular customer here for about a year. The location was convenient and I stuck to the techs whose work I knew were up to my standard. My trip 2 weeks ago was the last straw: I called on Sunday to make an appointment for a mani/pedi on Friday. In her usually hurried manner, Christine told me over the phone that I could come at 9:30am on Friday. I confirmed that the appointment would be with her son, she said yes. I arrived at 9:30 on Friday and Christine asked, "How may I help you?". Strike 1. I have an appointment so there's no need to ask that. My tech was not there when I arrived. Strike 2. Christine called him and assured me he would be in shortly. He arrived about 10 minutes later. They quarreled for a while and I asked what was wrong, but he said everything was fine as he started my pedicure. Then after more quarreling, he came back and said that he couldn't do both of my services because I didn't have an appointment and someone who did have an appointment was coming in shortly. I told him I made an appointment and he yelled at me, asking what did I want him to do, saying the appointment was not in the book and they always right down their appointments. Strike 3. No convenience is worth enduring terrible customer service. Sophia was my favorite tech, so sweet and did an amazing job, but I have not seen here there in months. I will not be returning. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and since they moved to their new space, have had less than wonderful experiences. It is SO small in there. My most recent visit will probably be my last. I got a shellac manicure and pedicure and both were bad. Actually bad. My gel nails were chipping within a day and I'm not surprised - the gentleman doing my nails was very clearly in a rush and not listening to my requests - from shaping to an additional coat. The pedicures here are amazingly done. Very hygienic (gloves - check, sanitized and individually packed cuticle snippers - check). I always feel quite bad when I go in with my runner's feet because I only treat myself to pedicures when I'm not training for races. But my guy didn't flinch one bit and I emerged with beautiful feet! The price was reasonable, too ($29 for pedicure + massage). HOWEVER man, oh man, what a stressful environment. I can't really blame them for being so popular, but it was so loud and cramped in there, which felt even worse because there was no AC (despite it being 90+ degrees out), and the narrow and crowded entrance barely had room for walk-ins. I actually had a 3 PM appointment, but no one checked my name and what I signed up for. I'm glad they didn't tack on additional services than what I reserved over the phone, but everything felt very disorganized and rather stressful. Verdict: Go in to pamper your feet, but don't bank on relieving your stress here! read more

The good: It doesn't smell in there, there weren't any flies buzzing around, and they had wine and snacks. It's less than a block from the Eastern Market metro. The bad: My nail-tech didn't speak any English and it was impossible to communicate with her, my gel manicure chipped after 5 days (not exactly worth the extra money), and all the techs were yelling and talking to one another in Vietnamese, the entire time I was there. It wasn't relaxing, it took 2.5 hours to get a gel manicure/pedicure (with an appointment). I wish there was a nail spot where they spoke English but didn't cost a ton. She took such good care of my nails. She was meticulous and careful. She took her time making sure her work was perfect. I got gel nails, and I have no regrets. For gel nails and a pedicure, it was $62. Keep in mind, they don't take tips from your card payment. Have cash handy for tips. They even have wine for you while you enjoy being pampered. This description shouldn't be what going to a nail salon should be like! The person who did my brows was okay, maybe a little awkward. I had no idea about the limited selection of colors before I brought my own color with me. If I didn't bring my own color, I probably would have made an about face out the door because the colors are out dated and there was no variety or choice in brands. I'm still looking for an amazing nail technician that can really do different things and not just lines and flowers (not really my thing). I will return for a basic pedicure or manicure with my own polish in tow. They do offer snacks and wine which is why I will be returning; even if it is cheap wine. My rating went up and down throughout the course of my experience with this place. When I originally called the woman on the phone was great. She quoted $51 for a gel mani and reg pedi. When asking for directions (since we are from out of town) she even offered to get us from the metro. I was immediately psyched to go to this welcoming place. --note VERY close to metro..30 second walk. Then we get there. When I asked for the price again she (I'm assuming the owner manager) said $61. Although this price isn't outrageous for the services, she continues to bicker with me claiming I misheard her. Although not the case, I continued on. Back to great...best pedicure of my life! I have never seen someone put so much care into making sure the bottoms of my feet were smooth. They also had matching OPI colors so that I could match my pedicure to my gel manicure. The manicure also came out phenomenal. I was happy to see they use the sterile packs for their utensils. They also gave us wine, plastic wine glasses, but oh well, awesome enough. (The white is super sweet!) If I was ever in DC again I would go back their because of the quality of the service. read more

I opened an account just to write a Yelp review for this place because they deserve it! I was feeling really bummed out that day - nothing was going in my favor. I've had not the best experiences with nail salons, but heck good nails make me feel good. So, I came to this location close to home, and I am glad that I did! I was greeted by this sweet and bubbly lady by the name of Jane, who was the technician who took care of me during my time there. I wanted a gel manicure, and I originally asked for a color changing polish, but along the way (before they painted my nails) I changed my mind to wanting something holiday themed. Jane was very nice about it and recommended designs on how to go about it. I loved it! Jane took the time to carefully shape my nails, and she made sure that my manicure was coming out flawless. Very patient, too! I don't like being rushed at nail salons, and I really appreciated the time they take with each person. I was a walk-in, too! How neat is that?! They even offer you beverages while you are being taken care of. You really are treated well here. The tools are freshly clean for each individual, so you know that you're not sharing somebody else's cuticle gunk. The time they took was greatly appreciated because I fell in love with how great my nails came out! Even while getting my nails done, Jane, as well as the other employees of the salon brought up conversation with a smile on their face. I also really appreciated the little details she put in when I requested for holiday themed nails. Oh, and her hand massages are goooood. I felt blood pumping through my hands again. From start to finish my pedicure experience was horrible. I have a video of my pedicurist literally watching TV as he barely touched my feet. The massage was non existent. The water was cold, he never started the massage on my chair or offered something to drink. The bottom of my feet were still rough and I get pedicures regularly. The manager usually does my services because other technicians are not trained to follow protocol. I will never allow another technician in this salon to touch my nails or feet. I have been seeing the owner Christine for years ! Whether it's a wax or a pedi or mani she is my go to person. She is the best, cleanest and fastest nail or wax tech in the biz and I've been all over the DC MD VA area. Not only is she incredibly talented and excellent in her work, she happens to be a great person who takes an interest in all her clients. No matter what else she is dealing with Christine will always make you feel good when you're in her chair and that you matter.
