Today was only the second time I'd been to Nails by Nina, since I usually go to another, fancier nail salon on Capitol Hill, but I couldn't get an appointment at my usual place for three more days so made a return trip here. I was really pleased with how easy it was to get an appointment the same day, how quickly I was seen after I arrived, and, most importantly, the quality of my manicure. It was perfect and considerably less expensive than where I usually go. It's not a large, gleaming space, but it's got a casual, down-to-earth feel and my technician was very attentive. I will return! read more

I've had to pay for SIX nail repairs over the course of two weeks since getting my nails done which has cost me a lot of additional money over the $110 that I initially paid for my gel fill plus tip. The employees were pleasant but that doesn't compensate for the additional money that I've spent paying for nail repairs less than two weeks after being serviced. read more

I absolutely adore Nina and her 8th St SE nail salon is GREAT. I could not recommend her more highly.

I did my nails with the guy. It started off with no cuticle or actual nail work- he went straight onto glueing the acrylic tips which I commented on. He said he will do the cuticles cleaning and nail structure after the acrylics get he never did. Although he is a nice person, the quality of his work is truly awful. I went out with nails that are literally crooked and falling off and despite my polite tries to explain it was clear he didn't understand so I just left anyway. Really disappointed for the amount of money I spent. read more

My first French manicure did not last long but when Nina found out, she redid them, putting on a base coat for the white tips, expertly and quickly doing the white tips, using a brush with nail polish remover to clean up the tips, put on a clear coat, put on a light pink coat, then finished with a top coat. If you have any issue, feel free to call Nina and let her know. A mani pedi is $42 and a French manicure is an additional $5. It's a small nail salon: 3 pedicure chairs and 2 manicure chairs, and it keeps busy. I would make an appointment just in case to ensure you can get your nails done. read more

I love this place! Every single time I stop by everyone is so pleasant. Incredibly well done nails and at a great cost too.

I usually don't like leaving reviews for nail salons until after I've tried them a few times and seen how well my nails hold up. But my first time here was a good experience and I got to sit with Nina herself. I typically get SNS or dip powder manicures and occasionally with design or nail shape change. But on my visit I just needed my nails removed, cut and cleaned. I had given birth to two beautiful babies recently and decided it was time for my nails to go back to being short and low maintenance. So while I wasn't entirely ready to get rid of my long natural beautiful nails, Nina made it easier for me. My nails were cut short, shaped slim, cuticles cleaned, and finished with clear polish. They didn't look so bare to my surprise! Then to make me feel even more beautiful, she did a great with cleaning up my brows and upper lip with a good ol' wax. All this service for $40. May sound pricey but that's cheaper than what I'd normally pay for my typical nail salon session. It's worth noting that Nina owns the hair salon that you have to pass through to get to the nail salon. She also owns another nail salon closer to union station. She even invited me to the holiday party they were having at that second location. Way to keep community camaraderie! I didn't make it to the party but I felt very welcome. I'm very picky with nail salons nowadays but I'd def come back here again to give other services a try. If not my typical manicure any time soon then maybe pedicures and other services til the babies are grown a bit more. read more

After seeing good reviews, I decided to switch to this salon - glad I did! I received a great gel mani and pedi, and both still look great a week later. The nail shop is in the back of a hair salon and even though the space is small, it doesn't feel cramped. The staff is very friendly and I had a hilarious convo with my nail tech. They have lots of polishes, but we still weren't able to match the gel and regular polish to a shade I wanted. I still like the different shades of pink I got though. read more

Everyone was so sweet and kind! However, I spent $70 for a dip fill that immediately started cracking and chipping off. Usually my nails last a month without chipping and these didn't even last a week. Also my nails were filed to the point it started hurting and feeling warm. Sadly won't be returning :( read more

I made an appointment to get my nails repaired. I explained the issue to Nina when I made the appointment and she told me it was ok to come in. I called Nina before coming to my appointment to remind her that we may need to soak my acrylic nails off because they were crooked, I asked if I should come early for this process. She said yes. I came to my appointment early and when I walked in she looked at me and said oh no I don't do acrylic or long nails. I was caught off guard because I explained to her what I needed during my initial call and again before I came in. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I almost never get my nails done professionally but treated myself as I had a special event to attend. I made an appointment and was seen by Binh. She was great and really took her time with my gel manicure and pedicure. I felt like it was well worth the price of $65 and the hand/arm and foot/leg massages were great! I will definitely be back here as the customer service is excellent and they really do a great job. read more

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to get my nails done here. Was met by a very rude man at the door and he wouldn't even open to door to answer my question. Unfortunately will never spend my money here. read more

Disclaimer I did not get my nails done here. The issue I have is the place is way too small. Prices are not listed. Nail techs can't understand you. Gel acrylic nails with tip 75.00 is laughable. Gel pedí 65 . Gtfoh. Not sure why they are so expensive. From the nails in the reviews I don't see anything special. Needless to say I left. My suggestions: List your prices Add more color choices Don't price gouge it's gross Pros: They were friendly read more

Great service and great price for a stellar manicure and pedicure service in the city!! Nina uses quality nail care products as well. Went here and specifically asked if they had SNS, to which they said yes. Unfortunately, they have some SNS based powder layer, but not the SNS color or polish products. The cheaper product they used on my nails was gel and had left my fingers throbbing ever since I left the salon with no improvement. While the greeting service was fantastic and convinced me to stay, the nail tech did a lack luster job. I came in with long healthy nails and he filed them down to studs. I left with TONS of polish under my nails and on my fingers, so much so that my friends asked if I had cut all of my fingers ( it was red polish). I cannot wait to go to another salon to get the polish removed 2 days after getting them done so that my fingers don't hurt anymore. If you want SNS and not cheap "dip" nails, do not go here. During my time, another client came in complaining that she came in the day before and lost 5 of her nails because they had been done poorly. My tech was rushing to do my nails so that he could take care of her, which was frustrating. I will never be back here. read more

Service was quick, polite, and painless and the finished product was decent. And I would definitely go back if not for the following issues... - As someone previously mentioned the prices are not listed, ugh - gel Mani on natural nail - $35 - I got a simple gel mani which didn't last beyond 9 days - started chipping at the cuticles I really wanted this to be my new go-to nail salon, but I get gel manis so they last, not so I have to keep returning to the shop. read more

Really wanted to like this place because of the good reviews. I called on a Saturday to make an appointment for a Sunday afternoon for a spa pedi. I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment time and one of the ladies, not Nina, started my pedicure. She was friendly but kept getting up to answer the phone. About halfway through a man walked in from the street, without an appointment, wanting a 15 minute massage. She stopped working on me and had the other woman finish the rest of my service. As someone with an appointment I should have been treated as a priority and she could have easily finished my service and made the guy wait for a few minutes while she did so. The pedicure itself was standard. I've had better and more attentive service at most of the other nail shops in the area. read more

My experience at the salon itself was lovely and I loved how they turned out - white manicure, french tip pedicure. It was $47 which I find to be very reasonable for the area. Unfortunately, the next day two of my fingernails chipped. I was attending a wedding that day and had been very careful with the manicure - no washing dishes etc. Even when I paint my own nails, they normally last 4-5 days without any chipping so I don't know what happened. Given the cost, it was a let down to have chipped nails for my friend's big day. read more

Nina is the best. I'm very active, so keeping a manicure looking nice is next to impossible, but Nina's SNS manis hold up longer than any other salon I've visited. Last time I had to "cheat" while traveling and go to another salon, the other nail tech was literally ooh-ing and ahh-ing over what a nice job Nina had done with my nails -- if not for the new growth, you'd have no idea the color had been on for three weeks at that point. She's also very gentle about the removal process, and does it with a longer acetone soak and a file instead of barely soaking the nail and then drilling most of the polish off like other salons do. Nina's way is painless and avoids damage to the natural nail so you can grow them out strong and healthy. Definitely make an appointment if you need to visit in the evening or on the weekend, because it is a small salon and -- for good reason -- they seem to have a VERY loyal customer base. On weekday afternoons, though, they can usually take walk-ins with little to no waiting. Prices are similar to the other Eastern Market salons, but the work is much higher quality, making Nails by Nina a way better value for your money. Can't recommend them enough. read more

Highly disappointing I recently moved to Eastern Market and was looking for a nail salon with quality, reliable service. I chose to try out Nails by Nina because of the glowing reviews on this page. I made an pedicure appointment for late on a Sunday afternoon. While the price was reasonable ($30), this salon did not live up to the hype. The space is really cramped, which isn't ideal but I recognize that isn't the fault of the employees. However, the customer service was poor. Even though I had an appointment, the pedicure was really rushed and borderline sloppy. The technician barely exfoliated my feet and filed my nails. I don't even think the technician put a top coat on, which is unacceptable. I really regret spending my money here. read more

Nina is incredibly sweet and so easy to work with. She was quick to answer her phone, had a couple time slots to offer us, and was very flexible about changing the time of our reservation and adding a third person to it. Nina did my sister's nails, and I had another nail technician work on mine. He did a good job, but it looked like M's cuticles were a little cleaner when we were done. Given the way everyone on Yelp raves about Nina though, I think it has to be hard to be on her level. I will say, my gel manicure lasted for ages. Since we came during the day we were offered some tea or coffee while we were having our pedicures done. If you come in the evenings though (or if you're just a baller) she also has a few bottles of wine on hand. You wouldn't know the salon is there from the street as it's in the back of a hair salon. She has two nails station and 3 pedicure stations so you need to call her for a reservation. I doubt you'd have much luck as a walk-in with so little space. Prices are competitive for the neighborhood. I would return. read more
