If you're thinking about trying this place, dont . I stopped going a while back after a terrible manicure . I clearly didn't learn my lesson because after the salon I frequent was crowded, I decided against my better judgement and came here. They were able to take me right away. I got a regular pedicure and gel manicure . I knew I wouldn't have a pleasant experience when I asked for a color and she pointed out another color and said "this one is similar and looks better". Her and another woman kept trying to push their "new" colors on me. I went with a neutral to be safe and yet my nails were still in danger . Pedicure: she sped through the polish so quickly I had to ask her to go back and blend it. Yes it's a nude color BUT you can see the globs of unblended polish just sitting on my toe nail. The pedicure took about 15 mins. Also, no lotion was provided or oil like the other salons offer. Manicure: I had to ask twice for her to round my nails. She did the gel manicure and PULLED MY FINGERS and said "okay, done". I HAD TO ASK WAS THAT A MASSAGE WITH NO LOTION. She pulled out the lotion and gave me a 5 second massage. The lady who did both is the 3rd manicure station...AVOID her at all costs. Everything felt so rushed. I'm definitely never coming back. I'd rather wait an hour at my normal salon. The total was $76.25 , they add 1.25 for using a debit card. My pedicure was $35, gel manicure is $40 (15 + 25 for gel) . read more

I have been here two more times now and have to update...this is the second time the manicurist has terrorized my hands and cut the skin around my nails, which is horribly painful. She explained that my skin must be so much more sensitive than others' but...it seems to be a recurring theme here and I don't get cuts on my skin at other salons. I also waited 40 minutes to soak my nails the last time I was here, even with an appointment that I called for well in advance. Not to mention this specific nail tech charged me $75 for this manicure, which is much more expensive than other salons in the area and is $10 more than the other nail tech charged me for an arguably more complex manicure. With tip, this ends up being a $100 manicure, almost as much as I would pay for a dip manicure and a pedicure elsewhere. For much money I expect my nails to be pretty much perfect and I 100% expect the experience to be painless. read more

This is a great little nail spot that opened (or maybe reopened under new management) about a year ago. Although I'm often in this neighborhood, I didn't even realize this salon was here until I noticed the listing on Yelp. Since it was nearby and it stays open an hour later than another neighborhood nail salon I frequent, I decided to drop in. Lucky for me there was no wait, even as a walk-in on a Saturday evening. The pedicure chairs are comfortable and look to be brand new. The entire space is rather pristine, clean and peaceful. The nail technician that took care of me was accommodating, professional and kind. I thought she did a great job! The only thing is that I found to vary was their range of gel polish colors. Don't get me wrong, they still have plenty to choose from. But I struggled a little to find a range of nudes that were not soft pinks and for my nail design some limitation in colors. Also, I'm one week in and have two chips to my gel which isn't typically common for me. But overall, I'm glad I dropped in was please with both my mani and pedi. read more

Just moved to DC 2 weeks ago and decided to give this place a try. I wanted a simple gel manicure. Minus one star bc It took the woman 45 mins to get the gel polish off of my nails. I especially did not like the technique she used to remove the polish. The tool hurt and barely scraped off the polish. It constantly hit my cuticle. She realized it wasn't really working and decided to file off the polish which generated a lot of heat on my nails and probably destroyed them a little on the process. Minus one star: the water she used in the bowl was barely Luke warm and I don't think she allowed me to keep them in the bowl long enough. She ended up cutting me and made me bleed a bit. I didn't notice until she got the alcohol and applied it to my cuticle. I never even received a sorry. Another issue was how my nails were shaped. I asked for my nails to be sharply squared and it looked squared but rounded on the ends. Another nail tech then told me she would be painting my nails. Before she painted I asked if she could square them how I wanted and she did thank goodness. Minus one star. wasn't even a full 24 hours before the polish had chipped. It literally took 5 hours for it to chip on one nail. I didn't even get my hands wet or hit anything. Fast forward 20 hours and a second finger is chipped. I will not be returning ever again. I take pride in my natural nails and they have never broken at such a short length. I am blaming it on how much my nails were filed to get the polish off. I also went into the salon with 4 week old polish that wasn't chipped. I expected the same quality polish. I read the Reviews and decided to take a chance on them. The main reason why I gave them more than two stars is because they were accommodating with me bringing my own nail tips (I like a specific curve) and the shape of my nails. But I did not like how once they were done talking to me about certain thing pertaining to prices, they began speaking in their native language and it made me feel a little uncomfortable. Like they were price gouging, no offense to them speaking their native language but all of a sudden I was left to pay $70 for my nails. Also, upon arrival I was not asked if I'd like a beverage. But the person who came after me was accommodated and was offered a beverage of choice. I really don't know if I'll be back any time Soon. And it's sad because they do really great nails, but they lack in customer service towards people of color. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I made an appointment a week ago to get my nails and toes done. I arrived 1 minute early, yet I had to wait a FULL HOUR before anyone help me. The girl that was waiting when I arrived sat down, got her nails done and left before they started on mine. They kept giving me bullshit answers as to why I was waiting even though I had previously scheduled an appointment. Fast forward to today - less than a week later and 2 NAILS popped off and my fake toenail fell off. Assuming they would fix these for free as it was less than a week - WRONG. Okay, then I assumed maybe they would charge me $15 ($5 per nail) ... WRONG AGAIN. The told me $30 to fix 3 nails less than a week of them doing them in which I PAID $130 for a FILL and basic pedicure. They are insanely overpriced and offer a below subpar experience with HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Find anywhere to go but here! Side note, I noticed that they pick and choose who they decide to offer wine to, not every customer. read more

LUNA is conveniently located near me and after having gone a year without a pedicure, I figured it was time to treat myself. The service was really great when I arrived and they were quick to get me checked in. However, that's were the positives of this establishment end. The nail technician cut the side of my toe while using a pumice stone on the bottom of my left foot. Immediately I flinched and she tried to pretend she did not cut me. It wasn't until I pointed out the blood and asked for a bandage that she finally acknowledged her mistake. I was upset she didn't even try to sanitize it and that I had to be the one to ask for a bandage. To top it off, she did a poor job with my pedicure and my polish was already chipped. All in all, a 2.5 and I do regret spending money here. read more

The nail salon that I wanted to go to was booked so I frantically searched (Yelp, yeah!!) for another. The reviews were decent so I decided to take a chance... I called and made an appointment with Rick for dip nails (new full set) and a pedicure. When I arrived at my appointment time, I was greeted by Rose. She was kind and told me to pick a color. (The colors are in the back of the salon.. that's new for me). I was a little put off because no one took my temperature or asked me to sanitizer (or even wash my hands. We still are being COVID conscious, right?!) I picked a color and found Rose who ended up doing my pedicure (though my appointment was with Rick whom I discovered through reading reviews). The plastic liner in the pedicure bowl was ripped in 2 spots so it didn't quite serve its purpose. The water she filled the bowl with seeped through into the bowl. I showed her and she told me not to worry... I'll skip the little details in between because this could be more lengthy then it is so far so: Cons (major): 1. I wasn't comfortable with the liner in the bowl being ripped because I was wondering if the bowl was clean from the previous customer, and I was also wondering if the same (ripped liner situation) had happened with someone else.. 2. The brush she used on my feet wasn't fresh from a sterile pack. In fact, it had some sort of black stuff caught in the top (I was mortified and noticed AFTER she was done using it on my feet- this didn't come pedicure). The brush must be the "pedicure" brush used on everyone because the bristles reflect needing a new one.. 3. I don't recall Rose cleaning the bowl behind me, which again makes me question the sanitation of the bowls, tools, and overall establishment. Side note, Rose offered me a drink but I politely declined because I wasn't comfortable drinking from a place that didn't seem all that clean.. 4. Parking is awful!! Pros: 1. Rose is kind and she did a great job on my pedicure. She took her time; there are no streaks in my polish (I can't stand that); she offered be a beverage (soda, water, red or white wine); she took her time and she didn't rush. 2. Rick's work is great. I ended up not needing a full set so I just got dip powder on majority of my real nails. Our language barrier was a little hassle (not being able to understand fully) but we worked it out. 3. Their dip collection is MASSIVE! So many colors to choose from and they even have designs. 4. Parking is FREE as of 5/18/21, just I wish I knew before paying. All in all... Not sure I'll be going back because of their lack of cleanliness for my standard but if I'm in a pinch like I was today, I just might. read more

Overall I had a pretty good experience I had a very long pedicure followed by a acrylic set.... I paid around $260 for the whole thing which wasn't bad to me it's about average for what I get. The only thing I wish they could manage time better because they took one girl before me and tried to take another one but I said some thing then the problem was resolved. This is the second time in a row that I have received bad powder dip from this place (most recently on 4/16). The mail technician put some sort of regular top coat on my nails instead of gel. She said it would be ok. SHE WAS VERY WRONG! Between spa pedicure, powder dip and eye brows, I spent $145 at that place. I will never go back and I highly recommend that no one go there. When I went back to the nail salon on Tuesday asking for them to fix it, they told me to come back on Friday! Not only poor quality work but also poor customer service. Unprofessional and extremely rude. I went to Luna nails and spa 4 weeks ago for a fill with Rose. She suggested that I soak off my acrylic nails and get a new set on my next visit. Which she was right, it had been awhile. So I made an appointment to return. I visited Luna nails and spa again on a Friday afternoon to get my nails soaked off. She urged me to cut the acrylic off (& my real nails) and start over, I was hesitant but she said it would look much better, I obliged. As Rose did my nails she was up and down, back and forth, and answering the phones. When she put the new tips on I told her some of them were crooked. Her response was I have to file, I am not done. Now I know better I should have stopped there I have been getting my nails done for over 20 years so I know when things are going to end bad. But I tried to let her finish as she continued adding the powder my nails were still crooked, I continued to point it out at least 3 more times. I then told her they were not even either in fact a few were far too short and the shape was not almond. In the end my nails looked terrible, the polish also had small bubbles and scapes on them when I got home. So I called Rose on Saturday. She said they were too busy and to try on Sunday. So I called Sunday she told me to come at 7pm, now I could have gone at 7pm but I had plans so I wasn't going to cancel them. I called back 2 more times. She told me on Thursday to come in. I drove across town in the rain. When I arrive she came to the front and immediately starts to speak very loudly and say 1 nail. The owner, Rick then joins her and he is yelling in a different language and giving hand gestures that say no while shaking his head. I say there is no need to yell. He then walks over and says "no nails beautiful" Rose defends him and says we will only fix one nail and you waited a week. I try to tell her I've been calling they weren't able to take me, so Rose raises her voice. I said to her if they weren't going to fix my nails in the way that I described on the phone she should not have let me drive there or agree to fix them in the first place. She then told me I can go somewhere else that will do my nails better. I will not return to this place, the customer service is terrible and the quality is less than sub par. I'll also add that she did a terrible job at polishing my nails. Save your time and money and patronize a business that will listen, be respectful, and make time to address any issues. $65 wasted but a lesson learned. read more

Waited 20 minutes to start and was rushed once they started my nails by the young man who works there- I asked for a design for my acrylics but when the design went poorly and I told him that I didn't like it, he yelled at me saying that that was what I asked for. I ended up just having him paint the whole nail when I realized he was not capable of doing a design.... And the nails were awful. Bubbles in every nail, lumpy paint job, just... bad. I went here in a whim since my previous nail tech recently decided he no longer wanted to do nails. I hadn't had my nails done in over 6 weeks. When I walked in I was kindly greeted and asked what services I needed & to pick my color and seated short after. My pedicure was done by a young lady named Ellie. She did a great job. Once my pedicure was about done a fellow patron asked for her nails to be done a specific way and the nail technician ( a guy) who was assigned to her began yelling at her and slamming things on the table telling her that she could only get a full set after she simply just asked for an acrylic overlay. It seemed to me she was asking for something so simple so for this guy to be so disrespectful made me uncomfortable. The young lady remained so calm and simply said if it can't be done she would go somewhere else. I assumed that rubbed the guy the wrong way but she never once yelled at this man or had an attitude. At this point about 4 other nail technicians have gathered around the table where this drama is occurring. The young lady proceeds to get up to leave and all of them follow her to the door. Then one of them says I'll do your nails the way you want. I feel like all of that drama could have been eliminated especially if there was another tech capable of doing what she asked. So since all of this is going on I'm stuck waiting for about 20 minutes for someone to do my nails because more than half of the staff is intertwined in this back & forth. I'm finally seated to get my nails done and the same guy that was so rude to the other patron sits to my nails. I felt extremely awkward and hope that he wouldn't pull the same stunt with me. Luckily he didn't. I guess he had cooled down by then. He did my fill in and shaped my nails nicely. I asked for a design as well. After he painted the base colors of my nails the young lady Ellie that did my pedicure took over and did the designs. Overall my services were good. I just wish they would have handled the situation with the other patron more professionally and kinder. I plan to revisit. read more

Suggestion is to make an appointment and call 30 mins beforehand saying you are confirming your appointment will start at that time with the person you specified because it's worth it. I'm a Black Man (this is important). I Came for a pedicure and was told they are busy and there would be a 20 min wait. So I sit there waiting. 5 mins later a white woman walks in also with no appointment and is sat immediately for a nail set. I don't complain, I just keep waiting. 30 mins later they put me in a chair to soak my feet and tell me 5 mins. 20 minutes later still no service. I left. Won't be back ever again. read more

My sister and I came to Luna. Rick did my gel mani & pedi and he did an amazing job. I walked in with an old set of SNS and he gentle removed it without hurting me or damaging my nails. He provided me with a lot of attention and detail. I am super picky on my nails and not once did I have anything to say I just let him do his thing because it is very apparent he knows what he's doing! i've been coming here for the last 6ish months on walks in to get my nails done. i'm on a quest to grow my nails out so have been getting gelx to keep my own nails covered and free to grow. my nails were finally getting long and i was thrilled! well, last time i came to luna as a walk in my nail technician chastised me for wanting gelx over my natural medium length nails, basically saying it can't be done unless i cut my nails. i told her to try anyways (as i already had the gelx on and just wanted a fill) and half way through my first hand she said she couldn't do it and pushed me to agree for her to remove the gelx and do gel nails on my natural nails. i really didn't like being chastised but had already been there a long time so let her do it. in the week since i've gotten my nails done. two of my natural nails have broken so far down that i basically have to start my nail growth journey over. i really didn't like how she didn't listen to me and my goals and pushed a nail style that isn't supportive of nail growth on me. i absolutely won't be going here again and encourage others to find nail technicians that actually listen and respect their customers. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I used to come here all the time for a pedicure. The last two times I was really disappointed. Technician rushed through the pedicure, "forgot" the mask and massage. The last time he "accidentally" charged me 560 USD instead of 56 USD. I caught the mistake and he said he was sorry and that the money will be back on my card. He acted like it was no big deal. Today though took the cake: I walked in for an arm waxing. The service was fine. But when I went to pay, they said it was 60 USD (I should have asked beforehand, I know). I was thinking to myself wow, that is a hefty price (they did not even do my underarms)." I pay 47 at European Waxing, which is way more professional and nicer. But I paid. Then, I was asked if I wanted the receipt. I said yes. When I walked to my car, I saw that on the receipt, I was charged 60 for an "Upgrade Pedi." I walked back inside and confronted Rose. She said that that is what they charge for an arm waxing. Then I asked her how much for full leg. She said 65. I told her it makes no sense that they charge 65 for a full leg, 60 for a luxury pedicure, and 60 for just an arm wax (without under arms). I am convinced that they cheated me (that's why it says Upgrade Pedi on the receipt) and were successful. Guess what. I will never go back. No wonder that place is always empty now when I walk by during the week, which usually used to be not the case. Reviews went down, too. read more

I am so happy to finally have found my nail home in D.C! There are so many reasons why I keep coming back every few weeks for my regular gel pedicure and dip nails with Rick. The staff is welcoming, kind, and immediately accommodating. The salon is clean, well lit and decorated, and relaxing. They have complimentary drinks and a pedicure menu with a variety of options for scrubs and massages. Rick is talented, gentle, and pays great attention to detail. He has never disappointed me ! Their work is good but they don't keep appointments. There is no true appointment system. There is a woman who I believe is the owner or manger of the shop who gives you an "appointment" but when customers arrive they seem to have forgotten and say that their busy. I've been going the nail salon for a year and a half ( because I loved my nail tech) and I've seen this happen more than often. As of recently they've picked up even more customers and have become even worse with keep appointments. They have no loyalty to regulars expect to wait even if you have an appointment. read more
